Sat, 16 May 2015 18:24:04 EST Goals for 2015 What are your goals for the new year? Sat, 3 Jan 2015 12:32:13 EST Newbie here New to this group.

I am dealing with stage 4 ovc, mets to my liver. I have been doing this since March 2013.
Latest drugs have started some shrinkage! Yay!
Tired of chemo every 3 weeks.
My weight is way up there, but for the past 2 years it has remained pretty stable, I guess that is good, weight loss would be much better.
Concerned about moving, exercise. My energy level is in the pits, so I am looking for ways to move that do not use up my little bits of ... Mon, 29 Dec 2014 02:55:05 EST Hi I'm new here Hi. I'm new to this team. I just found it in the team search while searching for something else, and I'm glad I did. I've been cancer free 6 years and working now to take good care of that gift of health. I've let myself slide back into unhealthy ground and so at the beginning of November I became more intentional. So far so good, and I'm happy to be here! Look forward to meeting you all. Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for life. Thu, 27 Nov 2014 10:13:15 EST Hi I'm new to the team hope to make friends and
Support each other Mon, 14 Jul 2014 10:42:47 EST I'm new here Hi,
My name is C.J., I'm 40 & I am newly diagnosed. I am 2 weeks out of surgery & will be starting chemo on Apr. 7th. I have been trying to prepare my body for chemo and learn how to take care of myself during the next 6 months. My cancer type is 3C Mucinous which was bilateral. I had a hysterectomy & they had to take out my lymph nodes that drained to my ovaries because they were enlarged & my appendix to make sure that the cancer hadn't spread. Also had my gall bladder removed because ... Sun, 30 Mar 2014 23:28:47 EST Goals for 2014 What are your goals for 2014? Fri, 27 Dec 2013 07:56:35 EST Hi Everyone! I'm new to the team. My name is Bea, and although I didn't have ovarian cancer, I do have Stage 3 2C endometrial cancer. I completed Sandwich Therapy in February of this year - I did a total of six rounds of Taxal and Carboplatin, and in the middle of it all, I did 25 external radiation treatments and 3 brachytherapy treatments. I have been lucky - NED since August 22, 2012 when I had my hysterectomy. Looking for those who have a similar situation.

I have Lynch Syndrome - my ol... Thu, 24 Oct 2013 10:16:31 EST finally.. appts are being made Ok so at the end of last week, i got an appt notice confirming my consultation for my chemo port. This appt is for Feb 5. This is so i find out if this onco even wants to pit the port in me or not.
Monday mail gives me an appt notice for lab work and chemo port installation. This is scheduled for Jan 28.
Now Im sitting here wondering if these appts are just a little bit backwards?
Should i call and make sure this is correct? Or give with the flow and have faith in them actuall... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 10:17:14 EST Weight achievements Please use this thread to post your weight achievements. It can be ounces, pounds or even inches! Let us know how you did so we can cheer you on. Fri, 5 Oct 2012 10:04:06 EST New challenges What kind of challenges would you like to participate in? Fri, 31 Aug 2012 16:19:58 EST This week It's Saturday, and I've spent my food budget at the farmer's market buying healthy things. Now I am making bread dough with the aim of making fantastic dinner rolls. We'll see how that goes.

Been thinking about illness/wellness this week - and how blessed I am! I'm still not in any sort of shape at all, BUT I can move without any pain, I'm sleeping well, I'm down to blood tests and doctor visits every 4 months. Things are just overall good. Fingers crossed and knocking wood th... Sat, 16 Jun 2012 15:00:55 EST This week - 2 challenges! One - a baby step towards nutrition! This can be the same every day, or something unique daily!

Two - a baby step towards fitness!

Let's log them here and see how we do! 306 Mon, 4 Jun 2012 16:16:49 EST It's the start of the work week here Tuesday that feels like Monday - but hooray for "short weeks"! What's your goal for this week?

Mine is just to keep moving. On a break between sessions for strength training, and I don't want to lose the progress I've made. I'm guessing it will largely be housework and yardwork.

Wishing everyone a blessed and health-full week! Tue, 29 May 2012 11:18:26 EST This week You survived the week? HOORAY FOR YOU! What's your biggest accomplishment?
I finished my first round of strength training classes post-surgery (this was the hernia repair this year, not the hysterectomy last year). I went to every single class, and kept my promise to myself to at least try the ab work by the end of the session. I'm not fit by any stretch of the imagination . . . but I am taking baby steps.

And you??? Fri, 25 May 2012 22:34:44 EST Apologies to all! I am supposed to be a co-leader, but went off for more surgery so have been completely inactive. I do think this group could be valuable as a support - how do we make that happen? Anybody want to co-lead? Anybody have a vision and want to take over?
--karen Thu, 19 Apr 2012 23:17:57 EST Some info from Johns Hopkins, emailed by my sis This is an extremely good article.
Everyone should read it.

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY ('TRY', BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER,JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:

1. Sun, 4 Mar 2012 16:29:40 EST Is there anybody there? I received a welcome message, and responded, but I don't see any recent posts - apart from that welcome message, which may have been automatic? - nothing since 2011.

Fri, 2 Mar 2012 12:38:06 EST New to the team I am quite new to Spark people teams - that is I have been using the spark web tool for weight loss, but have not ventured into groups and chats before. I don't see any recent posts in this team. Is it still active?

I am currently in remission with my ovarian cancer - I believe that diet and lifestyle is the key to staying tumour free for as long as possible, and am interested in dietry ideas others may have in this area. My initial cancer was discovered in Feb. 2004. I had a... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 07:55:01 EST ***CHAT THREAD*** I don't see many recent posts on this group. I was hoping to join a group that was more active and I thought that maybe a thread (STICKY TOPIC) that was dedicated to chatting on a daily basis or whatever might encourage everyone to post.

I recently finished my treatment for stage 1A ovarian cancer. I am curious who is still active with this group and how everyone is doing and would love to hear some experiences.
My last treatment was 11/4/11 and feel pretty good. ... Sun, 22 Jan 2012 19:48:16 EST Welcoming 2012 With a Bang! Hello everyone! I apologize for my absence. My health has not been good, but it is certainly improving. I would like to start 2012 by introducing more information about Ovarian Cancer to those who are just joining the fight as survivors, fighters, and friends. It is important to get this information out to all women. It is important for us to listen, hard, to our bodies. We are the winners of the wars waged on our bodies! And, make no mistake, WE WILL WIN!!

The first link I ... Mon, 2 Jan 2012 18:08:04 EST Testing starts tomorrow Two weeks of testing and doctor's appointments, starting tomorrow with an ultrasound to see about fixing my hernia, then a blood test, then Thursday a CT scan to make sure there's no cancer; then next week appointments with my oncologist and surgeon (and a dental appointment thrown in just for good measure!)

I am feeling overwhelmed and apprehensive. Last year when they found the cancer I knew something was wrong, so it was just one foot in front of the other to do what I had to d... Sun, 27 Nov 2011 21:45:10 EST Post surgery surgery I ended up with a post-surgical hernia from my hysterectomy, etc. Originally I thought I'd just live with it, but it seems to be getting bigger/worse, so I think it's time to get back to the doctor and probably meet with a surgeon to see about repair. Funny thing - I'd never had surgery at all before this one, and couldn't imagine anything more to be avoided. But now I'm feeling like: It's broken? Let's fix it now!!!

Did anyone else have this problem? If so, did you repair? ... Thu, 27 Oct 2011 16:11:31 EST Time to start pushing and growing I've been so self-centered over the past year (almost!) of illness, surgery, chemo, recovery. Now it's time to start reaching out to others more. I've continued throughout to be active in church and with family - but I return home to virtual hermit-hood. Inviting friends over? Never happens. More than a smile and a quick "nice day" to neighbors? Doesn't happen.
Now I'm feeling like I want to be more connected. I just posted a blog about my efforts.

Somewhere along the w... Fri, 21 Oct 2011 12:07:14 EST And another question I wonder if any of you have had a post surgical hernia to deal with - and if so, how? I have this huge ball right below my rib cage - which my cancer felt like lower down before it came out! But all 3 docs have assured me it's "just" a hernia. I've ordered a "support garment" but wonder how well that will work. If it doesn't, surgery is an option, but I'm not eager for more surgery. Anybody else been through this? What worked for you? Tue, 4 Oct 2011 19:35:34 EST Hi! I am a supporter. My maternal aunt is a 33(!!!!) year survivor of ovarian cancer. My step-mother will be getting a huge bouquet of flowers on October 25th to celebrate (yes celebrate) the 7th year from her diagnosis at Stage 4. Every day that they continue to be with us is a gift to those who love them.

This is a disease which is so difficult to catch early enough to not be devastating when it is diagnosed. The fact that my aunt decided after a year of chemo, radiation, etc. to dis... Thu, 1 Sep 2011 10:04:45 EST Thinking of you all . . . as we approach the middle of the work week. Hope everyone is doing great! Any inspiration to share? Any struggles? Let's support each other!! Wed, 31 Aug 2011 01:04:21 EST Favorite Summer Getaways? Tell us about your favorite summer get away!

My favorite place to get away is Wilmington, NC. It's close to the ocean, and my favorite place to just disappear from the world. My favorite beach is Kure Beach. There's a gorgeous pier that extends into the ocean. Hundreds of birds fly around the pier, and there are fishers everywhere. I love it there.

Please share your favorite place with us! Sun, 31 Jul 2011 14:14:21 EST Recovery Just finding this interesting, but not perhaps for the general Spark population. The hair on my head is now a soft fuzz. Possibly within 2 or 3 weeks I'll be able to ditch the hats if I want. The eyebrows are coming in very quickly, and I'm really happy about that! Fuzz on my cheeks (which I could do without!) is back. Arm hair is growing back, and I shaved my legs for the first time in forever this week. It's been a little over 2 months since my final treatment.

I really gaine... Wed, 20 Jul 2011 19:38:12 EST Saturday challenge! Today - do something nice for yourself. Eat something good, do something physical, read something uplifting, spend time with a friend - just something that makes you smile!
And report back here . . .
43 Sat, 2 Jul 2011 11:30:35 EST Summer Reading Summer is upon us, so what's on your Summer reading lists? Do you read one book at a time or more than one? Tell us about it!

I am currently reading "From Dead to Worse" by Charlaine Harris, part of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Normally, I read more than one book at a time, but I'm lucky I can focus on just this one for now.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Nessa
434 Sun, 19 Jun 2011 12:35:36 EST Reactions I've come across two recently that were interesting to me.
One, I was in a store and saw a bald woman in a hat, wearing a face mask. I was prepared to give her, not pity, but rather a sympathetic "I kinda sorta know what you're going through" smile. She wasn't having it - she didn't look at anyone. That must work best for her.
This morning I went to the car dealer to get my oil changed. The service manager was overwhelmed - "I had no idea, I'm sorry!' And I thought, well it's n... Sat, 11 Jun 2011 19:16:24 EST Weekend plans? After my first week back at work (which went well) I'd really rather stay in bed until noon! However, I'm off shortly to a book club meeting with my mom, then will take her out to lunch. Hope to have some oomph when I get home to do at least a bit of gardening. What's everyone else up to today?

203 190 434 Sat, 4 Jun 2011 10:58:24 EST Good morning, team! How's everyone's Sunday so far? For me it'll be church then a Dodger game. It's hard to be a Dodger fan these days, what with all the ownership shenanigans, and the violence/safety issues. Almost ashamed to wear my Dodger hat - but, since I have to wear a hat anyway, might as well be Dodger blue! (I'm starting to get some fuzz back, but you can't yet call it a head of hair!) Happy day to everyone!!
300 Sun, 29 May 2011 12:08:33 EST Did my final chemo yesterday Still feeling ok today. By past experience, tomorrow and the next day will be the worst. Knowing this is the last time, however, will hopefully make it easier. Have decided to take more extended time from work this time. I've pushed it before, and just don't feel up to it now. Gotta heal!!!!! Fri, 13 May 2011 13:36:36 EST I'm a suporter Hi my name is Misty, and as far as I know I do not currently have Ovarian Cancer, but I lost my mother to it in Oct 2010 after a 5yr battle. I joined this group because it is very important to me to be involved with as much as I can to promote awareness!!! I want to support and encourage people. One thing I can say about mom she always stayed positive and was a fighter and I want to continue this fight for her and my family.
220 Sat, 30 Apr 2011 10:45:14 EST Treatment Two weeks ago today was my 3rd chemo treatment, and it has been rough! First the normal pain/no energy, a few days longer than "usual", and then a cold on top of that, which has me completely wiped. I want to just. sit. Not watch tv, not talk, not read, not eat, not even sleep, just sit.
It's been rough because our office moved this week. I hired my son to come pack boxes for me, and I sat - and watched. The unpacking has been brutal, but interspersed with a lot of - yep, sitting. ... Thu, 28 Apr 2011 15:57:59 EST Hi everyone I was diagnosed and had a complete hysterectomy in December. The surgeon said it hadn't metastasized, and he got it all - but I read the pathology report, and it was nasty! If there's any chance anything was left, I wanted it gone. So I've just finished my third of four rounds of chemo. The side effects are indeed cumulative, and I'm not looking forward to recovering from my final round! However I'm happy the end is in sight, and trust that I have enough strength to stay the course I've ... Wed, 20 Apr 2011 17:37:02 EST Hi' yall Just started sparks people again after a 3yr lapse. I joined SparkPeople almost three years ago, but found I was not giving it my all. Recently, I have rededicated myself to SparkPeople and to my weight loss battle.
