SparkPeople Lonely No More Team Messageboard This team is a place where people who feel like they are on this weight loss journey alone can go for support and encouragement. SparkPeople Lonely No More Team Messageboard How to stay motivated? My husband wants to workout alone or with other people. He told me to find friends to workout with because I need to respect his personal boundaries. We both need to lose weight and I was hoping to do it with him but he made it very clear he doesn't want to do this with me. I don't like working out alone and we just moved to WA from CO. I don't know many people here and the people I do know all work during the day. He works and has met a lot of people but I'm a stay at home mom. What can I do... I was an only child & all three of us loved to eat. We had plenty of good food & weren't content until we topped it with dessert. My parents were both too heavy. In fact, my father had a stroke when he was only 48. My grandparents, too, liked to see me eat. I recall that my grandmother, although she set a very fine table, would always ask me if there was anything else I craved to eat. (yes, I was an only grandchild for 7 years until my cousin came along, so I was spoile... Tue, 1 Mar 2011 14:37:34 EST What wish would make dieting easier? This wish can be serious or silly...

Silly: a small part of my largeness wants to wish for something I REALLY love to eat, to be ZERO calories, so I could eat as much as I wanted to...and lose weight. Of course that doesn't mean we should all gorge on it, but at least when we eat it (and stay within our calorie range) in small amounts we don't have to feel guilty about it.

Sun, 6 Feb 2011 11:57:09 EST Goals for 2-6-11 to 2-12-11 306

Goals for this week:
1. Track your daily water intake on the Nutrition Tracker.
2. Stay within your calorie range suggested on the Nutrition Tracker each day.
3. Exercise at least 3 times this week. Try for more but at least get in 3 days!!!
4. Invite at least one other Sparkmember to our team.
5. Play Spark Trivia each day. (The more we learn the better we will do. And don't forget to share what you learn with our team!!!) Sun, 6 Feb 2011 11:42:41 EST How many sign in points did you get today? I love signing in and spinning the wheel!!!

Today I got 2. How many did you get? Sun, 6 Feb 2011 11:27:59 EST Are you feeling positive or negative today? I'm striving to feel more positive. After a painful week last week I am going to try to find better ways to control the RA and migraines without meds. Sun, 6 Feb 2011 11:26:13 EST What is your goal weight Mine is 130. Fri, 28 Jan 2011 05:33:48 EST Who or what inspires you? I am inspired by my children. Why is it that as children we are not afraid to step out and try new things, but as we get older we tend to stick to what feels safe? My children amaze me because they make the best out of each of opportunity that comes their way. Fri, 28 Jan 2011 05:33:02 EST How many glasses of water did you get in today? So far I have gotten in 4 and since I have several hours to go before be I am pretty sure that I will make my goal of 8. How about you???

91 Thu, 27 Jan 2011 13:50:30 EST Did you exercise today? I didn't do an actual routine, but I did some major house cleaning since we had a snow day and I am sure that I burned the same amount of calories.

198 Thu, 27 Jan 2011 13:48:55 EST Do you take a multivitamin? I do on the days that I don't forget it. I can't take the whole thing at once though because it upsets my stomach. I take half in the morning and half in the evening. Sun, 23 Jan 2011 06:53:35 EST Goal for 1-23-11 to 1-29-11 This week our goal is to lose at least 1/2 a pound each.
I know that sounds like a small amount for a weight loss challenge, but after all the reasearch I have done and with personal experience I realize that taking the weight off slowly with simple changes instead of trying to lose a lot at once will help us to make lifestyle changes that we can live with for the rest of our lives.
After all, what good will it do us to lose a lot of weight by starvation or some other drastic me... Sun, 23 Jan 2011 06:49:58 EST What is your biggest hurdle in reaching your goal? I have to admit that I am still struggling with emotional eating. It is getting a lot better, but when a certain someone who is supposed to love me (I'm trying not to complain about him so much this year) says mean things to me food just seems like an easy comfort. I realize though that turning to food for comfort is what led me to this weight so I am trying hard to find other solutions. Sun, 23 Jan 2011 06:39:57 EST What is motivating you to be healthier? My three children and getting better control of asthma and RA are my main motivators. It used to want to be slim so that I would look better, but I have realized that it is much more important to feel better. Sat, 22 Jan 2011 04:14:50 EST What did you do today to make yourself healthier I am starting this post at 4 AM so I will have to report back later on today. I just thought that we shoud share our small steps as a way to encourage each other. Sat, 22 Jan 2011 04:12:37 EST Weekly weigh-in Don't forget to track your weight once a week so that you can see your progress. I thought Saturday would be a great day to do that so it will start today. Sat, 22 Jan 2011 04:10:50 EST I am new! Hi everyone! I am so glad that I stumbled across this group today since I am truly going at it alone. I relocated from California to Oklahoma (where I didn't know a soul!) with my job in August of last year and with the combined stress of my new position and being lonely I have managed to easily gain 15 pounds. Not a skinny-minnie to start with, this extra weight gain prompted me to take control of my mindless eating and couch potato ways. I joined SparkPeople over the weekend and am joining ... Tue, 18 Jan 2011 17:52:46 EST Easy ways to cut extra calories How do you avoid the snack monster or cut extra calories from your day?

One way I do it is to never allow myself to snack while on Spark. I have had major issues with eating in front of the televeision and I am also trying to stop that. Just realizing that I snacked (at times without noticing it) while on the computer made me see that I consume useless calories and it has really helped me to avoid those calories by not snacking at all while on Spark. Tue, 18 Jan 2011 13:53:05 EST Great ways to "sneak" in exercise I have to admit that I am not a big fan of exercise, although I realize that I need to do it so I am trying to learn to like it. I try to add little things to my daily routine to sneak in some exercise. Here are a few: I like to do squats with each item I take out of the dryer (they add up quick), I do heel lifts and leg lifts while I am washing my hair in the sink, I also try to get in extra steps by putting away one dish at a time from the dishwasher.
How do you sneak in extra exerc... Tue, 18 Jan 2011 13:10:28 EST Inspirational Thought for the Day Tuesday, January 18, 2011

306 Dream it, plan it, and go for it! Tue, 18 Jan 2011 12:43:58 EST You are not alone 220 If you are anything like me, you sometimes feel like you are on this journey to be a healthier person all alone. That is why I started this team. No one should have to be without a support system. I have often felt like giving up because I have no one to share my successes or slip-ups with. Now I will go to this team and remind myself that no matter how I feel--I AM NOT ALONE and neither are you.
Tue, 18 Jan 2011 12:02:59 EST
