Thu, 17 Jul 2014 09:20:49 EST Pre-Diabetics of the World Unite! Just kidding.

Sort of.

I just wondered if anyone else here is pre-diabetic.

While I find much of the material about diabetes useful, of course, there seems to be much less about pre-diabetes, even on this site.

That is odd, because as far as I understand, there are actually more people with pre-diabetes than with diabetes itself. I've had four open heart surgeries and my 5th open heart surgery, I became a heart transplant recipient. My 2nd birthday is April 29th. I was blessed with a miracle. I feel great. As my past years have been horrible. I've had CHF, valve problems, pulmonary hypertension, and COPD. If you have any questions or just want to know anything, please ask. I love to inspire all people. Tue, 15 Jul 2014 13:45:03 EST hello Not sure what to say here, other than hello. I'm new here. I've been using spark people since Oct 2013, but never used the message boards before. I started at 211 and am down to 190, but seem to be stuck. I keep fluctuating between 190 and 195 for the past 6 months - frustrating, but probably my own fault (I like to "cheat" a little too often). One thing I'm concerned about is getting the right nutrients. According to the nutrition tracker, I need to increase my potassium and magnesium... Hello everyone,

My name is Chad and this is my very first day on the site and challenge. I found out about 3 or 4 months ago that I showed all the symptoms of being diabetic. When my bloodwork came back the doctor told me that they want your A1C level to be between 5.7 and 6.4. Mine was 11.3. My sugar level was through the roof too and my blood pressure was high. Since I found this out, I have worked hard the last 3 months to lower all of those levels. I am happy to report that my ... Mon, 7 Jul 2014 14:26:17 EST Getting a handle on everything Hi everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to SP, but not to tracking food and exercise. Before my daughter was born 2.5 years ago I did it religiously and lost almost 40 pounds. I lost more while I was pregnant (I was on a special diet for gestational diabetes) and felt great after she was born. With all the adjustments and lack of time, that all went out the window. I am now at a place to get back on the horse. I have spent the last week exploring SP and all tracking my f... Ate 1357 calories Sun, 6 Jul 2014 11:13:29 EST My goals Being a diabetic without doctor support is my biggest downfall. I am changing jobs to be with a company that is better about offering health insurance so I can get back on track with a doctor ASAP. That is a goal that I can't really put a time frame on because it depends on when I am allowed health insurance, etc.

My first goal that I can control myself is to exercise more. Walking 30 minutes at roughly 3 mph 3 times a week is my goal. Keeping this up is the only part I will strug... However, I did not introduce myself on this page and assume I was not counted as a member of the team. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic in 2009 and was managing it well for several years. Unfortunately, due to circumstances over the past several years, I recently learned I now have a type 2 status with glucose numbers over 200.

My initial short-term goal i... Fri, 20 Jun 2014 00:10:50 EST New to SparkPeople :) Hi all, I'm 48 years old and have just been officially diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. As you can guess, this is bringing some unique challenges into my life, but I am ready for them :)

I currently weigh about 221lbs (I didn't weigh myself this morning) and my initial goal is to get below 200, then to 180 and then to 160. It's easier to think about this in smaller measurements, that way I don't get overwhelmed. Once I reach 160 I'll evaluate things again and see if I want/need t... Thu, 19 Jun 2014 17:18:50 EST overall goals This time my goal is to get healthy, change my life style to include exercise (at least 3 to 5 days a week), and eating habits, then losing weight will be a bonus. I've had Diabetes for about 10 yrs and tried just about every diet it seems like. I'm a Christian and want to be used in a more active way to further the Gospel; being sick all of the time isn't conducive to that. My son is now 18 and more independent, which gives me more room to pursue a writing career. Thu, 19 Jun 2014 16:58:02 EST Week 1. Day 1 Just starting out my day. I am still in the program so they can monitor your maintenance. While on the diet my numbers were great, almost always below 100. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 2 years ago. I'm not very good about how things have progressed because I tend to be "all or nothing"; eat all carbs or no carbs. I realize there has to be a happy medium. I also have panic disorder which stresses me out to the point of just reaching for the refrigerator. I need to get onto a sensible diet and exercise plan, which I know I can do - it is just going to take time for it to become routine. I could really use some extra support.
