Mon, 1 Aug 2016 00:36:37 EST July 2016 ~ Goals & Lessons Learned I got sick back about the middle of June with some a viral infection that knocked me out of work for a while. I am feeling better, but these kinds of things quite frequently land in my lungs, which affects my ability to breathe deeply, or sometimes even talk, without coughing. I'm probably 90% better, but I still get winded with physical exertion some time, so my walking has slowed down.

However...all that aside...last week I decided to re-set my goal of walking a mile a day, an... Mon, 18 Jul 2016 10:16:30 EST I Love to Walk Hi my name is Lisa/Tkrystina & I love to walk. I have walked so much these past 3.5 months that I have lost almost 20 lbs. Being able to walk to a virtual location sounds wonderful. Not just walking around town to the places I normally go. I hope that it keeps inspiring me for a long time to come. I've traveled 26 miles in the last 3 days by walking and biking. It's about 12 miles by the team figuring. :)

You have walked 12 miles.
You have passed Last View of Hobbiton.
It is 6 miles to the next landmark.
You have 446 miles to reach Rivendell.

As they began to climb its first slopes they looked back and saw the lamps in Hobbiton far off twinkling in the gentle valley of the Water. Great idea!

My question is ~ how do I track that once I've "joined" the goal? On the first team goal, it appeared on the page called "Other Goals" under the "My Trackers" tab, and I checked it off each day I walked a mile. But for the new goal, instead of getting the little boxes to check off on, I get the message "Track Above in Special Goals." Except...there it does not appear there, nor ... Thu, 31 Dec 2015 23:39:01 EST December 2015 Goals I have to admit that November was not a stellar month for me. I give myself credit for hosting a large family Thanksgiving, with all the cooking, cleaning, and prepwork involved in that, but I found out quickly that I can do a lot of work that does not translate into Fitbit steps. Nor did all my work generate "active minutes" on my Fitbit because there weren't enough consecutive minutes involving forward momentum to count. I used to walk 2-miles 3-5 times a week, walking over 450 miles last year, but will not likely be able to keep up that pace this year. I walk with a can and have slowed down.

Since there is another walking team that tracks across the US, I think the interest in the Rivendell quest will not be as attractive unless you are a hard core Lord of the Ring fan as many of us here are. Fellow Middle Earth walkers -

How would you guys feel if we set a team mileage goal? Would you participate? Would it help motivate you? Let me know! I know we haven't done it before, so I wanted to check to see how many people would be on board if we started that. Maybe set a small goal for the rest of July then a real challenge for August?

Feedback please! Tue, 12 Jul 2011 17:42:37 EST Team Leader Today a message came up that the team leader has been inactive for over 60 days. If a team has no leader or leader requests after a time, the team is eliminated. Fri, 14 Jan 2011 10:05:21 EST Weather Delays Our weather is really an issue when it comes time to walk. Thu, 6 Jan 2011 09:15:59 EST Great Idea! For me, I most likely won't be an active participant but i LOVE the whole notion. I am a BIG fan of the LotR Trilogy movies (One day I will read the books).

About 6 years ago I bought scrolled maps of six regions of Middle-Earth (the way they dipict it in the movies all burnt and wrinkled) and it's somewhat detailed.

If I were walking to Rivendale I would start by going south past Bywater to The East Road.
