Lillian has hit us off and on, but last week it escalated at home and at school. Her teacher also said she is throwing screeching fits when she doesn't get her way. She tackled another kid last Friday and this morning as we were in the car heading to school, she told me that she got in trouble yesterday and had to go to the office. I don't know if she is telling tall tales or not, so I wrote a note to her teacher to see if it is true. Whe... Tue, 12 Feb 2013 14:32:56 EST thumb suckers is anyone's little one still sucking their thumb??
Marley sucks her thumb like 80% of the day. it's horrible. right now it's cold so because her thumb is always wet it's starting to be really chapped. we've tried a bunch of things to get her to stop but no luck. we talked about it with her dentist and he said there's nothing you can really do until they want to stop. that it shouldn't effect her perment teeth at this point.
But..... her teeth are already really messed up. the two o... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 21:58:19 EST RSV/Croup Has anyone's little one had a case of RSV or croup yet? Last year Lillian was in an in-home daycare, so she did not get sick that often. Her colds in the past have been minor. Well, last Sunday she started acting lethargic and had a little cough. All week she had a warm forehead and her cough seemed to be getting worse. I had to pick her up from school today due to a fever. The bad cough is still there, appetite is low, and she just seems sickly. Tonight she started crying which lead t... Thu, 10 Jan 2013 22:08:44 EST Winter Blues Okay, Jamie and Natalie, and whoever lives in really cold and snowy areas...please help me out. I haven't had to deal with snow, ice, and extreme cold for 9 years now and it is part of the reason why I moved to the south. How do you deal with this without falling into a deep depression? This sucks! Even a walk to the mail box seems treacherous and like a big deal. I think I'll just hang in there, but ever since the holidays ended the snow is not as appealing as it used to be. Sigh...tom... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 21:39:44 EST 2013 Streaks Lets check in every now and then and let people know how our streaks are going. Sat, 22 Dec 2012 01:11:08 EST Scared of Dark/Shadows? Little man has been pointing at the dark and making worried and scared faces now. Doesn't want to go into the dark at any point without mommy or daddy's hand. After I gave him a bath last night and put him on our bed to put his PJ's on, he didn't want to lay down and he kinda sat up, pointed to our hallway that had a few shadows and made a face and grabbed me around the waist with his arms and shoved his face into my shirt. But he's fine in his room sleeping, he has his nighlight and Winnie ... Fri, 21 Dec 2012 14:27:51 EST Crib/bed Have you guys made the switch from crib to bed yet??

Marley still doesn't try to climb out so we haven't made the switch yet but i'm starting to think it's time because she's doing really well with potty training and i figure she can't learn to use the potty at night if she can't get out of her crib.

I like that she can't go anywhere when placed in her crib though. since i live in an old house the doors never really stay closed. i'm afraid that she'll wake up and want t... Wed, 5 Dec 2012 22:06:01 EST Weighing In What is everyone's favorite day to weigh in? For those of us trying to lose weight, shall we pick a day of the week to weigh-in and report our results here? If you don't want to share numbers, you could say "down .5 pounds" or something like that. Just throwing an idea out there to add some accountability, especially with the holidays getting close. Anyone interested? Tue, 20 Nov 2012 20:46:59 EST parentese Ok so lately I've been really annoying myself with my parentese and talking in third person.

Marley isn't a baby anymore but i still find myself using parentese all the time. i'm hopping this will fade as she gets older. It's defiantly paid off because Marley's langue skills are exceptional but i'm starting to think that teaching her the English langue is going to land me in a place with padded walls.

If i don't start to say pronouns aging we're all going to be in troub... Mon, 19 Nov 2012 23:22:19 EST Discipline What discipline technique works best for your child? I find myself using the "sitting in the corner" threat most of the time. Sometimes she cries, but other times she acts like she doesn't mind sitting in the corner. I am so tired of her telling me "NO!" and not cooperating. God Bless all of the mothers that stay at home. This past weekend I really wished the daycare was open 7 days per week. LOL. Mon, 19 Nov 2012 15:43:55 EST Tricycles I'm planning to get Lillian a tricycle for her second birthday. Mon, 27 Feb 2012 15:10:38 EST Separation Anxiety I am blessed that I can work from home and therefore get to stay with Arianna during the day but I'm starting to doubt that I'm doing her a favor.

I returned to teaching in the evenings last Fall. We had a few different sitters but the one that DH and I felt the most comfortable with was Nadine. She would come at 4:30 and put Arianna to bed while I was teaching. Wed, 21 Dec 2011 23:04:40 EST First Year Molars I kept Lillian home from daycare yesterday because she was running a fever. I still don't know if she is sick or teething with her first year molars. She is super fussy, runny nose, and soooo much drool coming from her mouth. My instincts tell me that it might be teething and that this will last for several more weeks until they erupt. Anyone else experiencing this? Fri, 9 Dec 2011 11:00:01 EST Holidays What are your families holiday traditions??

Also do you have anything special planed for your little one this year??
Tue, 6 Dec 2011 21:05:49 EST December Challenge We haven't done a challenge in a while so I was thinking that now would be a good time to start one. Wed, 30 Nov 2011 09:03:23 EST Meal Time Frustrations So Marley has always been a good eater. She has always eaten everything we have offered her except eggs. Sun, 27 Nov 2011 20:36:00 EST Off the Breast/F ormula?? So today Marley turned 1 and it just so happened that we ran out of formula today as well. knowing that around 1 your supposed to get them off Formula and have them start eating regular food and milk we offered her milk in her sippy cu at dinner time and she wasn't soo keen on the idea pushing the cup away and refusing to drink it. i found a packet of formula in her diaper bag so i mixed a little of it in with her milk and then she did drink almost all of what i gave her. Have you guys switch... Sat, 29 Oct 2011 22:39:29 EST Throwing?? In swim class one of the activity's is for Marley to throw a rubber ducky and then go after it.
All the other kids can do that. Marley can't throw at all. She's one of the youngest in the group (6mo-2years) but even the younger ones are throwing at this point. Are your little one's throwing yet??

Marley does throw/drop her sippy cup on the floor when she's done with it sometimes. and with lot's of thinking effort she will roll a ball to me. Tue, 11 Oct 2011 21:34:21 EST Stopping In! Hi everyone! It has been FOREVER, I know.

I cannot believe that our babies are 1 or are nearing 1. Annabelle will be one on the 25th of October. So i don't remember if we have talked about this already but I'll bring it u again anyhow lol
I just sent out invites for Marley's first birthday party. She'll be 10 months next week. I'm big into themes so this year i picked books/reading. I wrote in the invites that she has all the clothes and toys she could ever want for the up coming year but we would love to expand her library, so if you were planing on bringing a gift a book would be a great one.
The latest book that i read s... Tue, 16 Aug 2011 10:52:01 EST Transition Foods I was wondering what everyone was giving for Transition Foods. Marley is still only getting pureed baby food But i know at around 9 months your supposed to start on transition foods so that when they hit a year they will be eating more normal foods because you take away formula. Mon, 1 Aug 2011 23:31:16 EST Starting Formula I am trying to help with the sleep issue by introducing formula at her first wake-up in an attempt to get her to sleep longer. I've tried two nights in a row now and she has REFUSED the formula. She drinks breast milk just fine from the bottle but as soon as the formula hits her mouth she spits it out and pushes the bottle away. Last night DH tried to feed her but that didn't make any difference. After she knows it is formula she pushes it away repeatedly.

Any thoughts on things I ... Fri, 29 Jul 2011 23:02:47 EST baby gates Have any of you bought baby gates yet?
I'm in the process of looking for one to get. I've decided that i want an extra tall one. I figure it will last longer before Marley tries to climb over it.
I want one that has a swing door so i don't have to jump over it all the time.
Also i think i might want one that has a cat door in it. Mon, 25 Jul 2011 20:04:13 EST Night waking/sleep regression The past few days have been very rough. I was quite spoiled with Lillian sleeping from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. consistently. Now she is waking several times during the night and it is so hard to get her back to sleep. From what I read it seems to be a combination of two things. Her brain is in overdrive. She is more mobile and will be sitting up in her crib, crawling around, reaching through the slats, peeking over the bumper, etc. I also think that separation anxiety plays a big role as we... She hate it and wants nothing to do with it. I have bought different kinds and nothing has worked until today. I found one that has a nipple like spout so it feels the same but it's a different shape. She took too it.
I feel like i should feel better but i don't. because it's still a rubber top.
I suppose that it doesn't matter if it's ... Wed, 1 Jun 2011 21:41:52 EST How tall are you? Just curious as to how tall you girls are? One of my biggest frustrations on shows like Biggest Loser is they never say how tall people are or what sort of weight they should be aiming at. Mon, 9 May 2011 19:11:10 EST Portions Can I ask a question about US portions? I have been using the spark info to work out calories for things and just found out yesterday that a chicken breast weighs in at obout 250 grams! That's huge! I had been using that as a portion size, whereas when I weighed out an actual portion of chicken I would eat it was less than 150g, if not closer to 100g. I am stunned at the size of a chicken breast, is it just inaccurate or are chickens huge over there?!?! Sun, 1 May 2011 09:58:59 EST motivation what is your motivation for weight loss?

i was just trying on some clothes for church tomorrow :( that was not fun. even my bigger clothes don't look quite right because I have fat in my stomach and never used to hold fat there (thighs/hips usually).

I need to be able to put on a bathing suit this summer (no bikini- tankini would be great) and look presentable- my ILs are building a lake house right now and expect us to come visit in August. It is from "The Baby Whisperer". I don't agree with a lot of the things in the book so I'm going with the "cafeteria method" (picking and choosing what I want and don't want). After this weekend I realized that how I was getting her down to sleep wasn't working for me anymore. Arianna associates eating with sleeping. So even if she just nursed for 30 minutes not 15 minutes before going down for... Mon, 4 Apr 2011 11:28:09 EST April Challenge Points Log ONLY your points here. She usually takes 4-5 naps a day, each for only about 30 minutes. It worked for us as she wasn't tired during the day so I felt just fine with it and didn't feel like I needed to change anything. Then this 4 month sleep regression hit and the past few days I've been second guessing myself.

As I've read up on the sleep regression (she's 4.5 months old), I've found all these things that say that a nap less than 4... Sun, 27 Mar 2011 21:26:08 EST Convertible Car Seat I was just wondering if any of you guys are currently using a convertible car seat or if any of you have already started the process of searching for one.

I know that it is early but at four months Arianna is already 16 pounds and we are headed back to the States at the end of next month so we would like to pick up another car seat since we don't expect to be back for a while and don't want to get stuck with the small selection and high prices of the car seats on island if she hits... Wed, 16 Mar 2011 20:43:47 EST Baby Massage I took Lucas to this class today and he really loved it. I know a lot of you can't get to classes or are at work so only really have time to do stuff on an evening but the woman who runs it gave us a sheet with the massage strokes on so I can type them here if anyone's interested in giving it a try, it was really excellent!

Each week they concentrate on a different part of the body so they eventually build up from legs and feet to a full body massage. I don't know if DB is attracted to me sexually anymore and it's really starting to upset me.

When we were ttc I was really careful not to make him feel like we were only having sex to make a baby. Luckily it didn't take long to conceive but we haven't had sex since I showed him the positive pregnancy test. At first it was my fault because I felt so sick that I couldn't stand... Wed, 2 Mar 2011 16:22:27 EST Really hard subject to bring up Sorry - duplicated the post Wed, 2 Mar 2011 16:08:45 EST nervous about traveling with baby We just bought plane tickets to take LO to see my in-laws in a couple of weeks and I am already SO nervous about it. Its really not the actual traveling part that has me so anxious. DH is going too and I think (with a lot of organization and planning on my part) the plane ride and airport stuff will go smoothly- as long as there aren't delays or anything bad like that (How do you plan for that??!)

Anyway, I am nervous about staying with them. we always stay there with them and can... Thu, 24 Feb 2011 10:34:44 EST fighting sleep? my LO seems to have always fought sleep (naptime or bedtime). once I start to swaddle him, he fusses and wiggles around- it continues as I rock him. I always swaddle and usually his pacifier would help but now he refuses to take it. a loud shhh sound and firm pats on back sometimes helps too. now that he is older and stronger, he is louder and thrashes around more. it usually only last about 5 minutes and then he knocks out- sometimes its more like 10 minutes though. It seems like I just have... Fri, 18 Feb 2011 12:19:42 EST Husbands and Babies I was just wondering how every ones significant others are bonding with the babies? I thought for sure once Ed got home from camp and started working in town he would bond better with Paige. So far he just gets really frustrated with her, they both end up mad, I get handed back a screaming baby and he stomps off saying 'She hates me!'. I know that she is a bit more demanding then my first daughter was, I also feel that Ed thinks because Dez and him had such a great bond that Paige should be t... I read that it can be diet related and following on from Michelle's post on the general board I'm going to try eliminating some things from my diet but I wondered whether any of you had experienced and/or overcome this? Tue, 8 Feb 2011 13:49:12 EST Stripped my diet and discovered my baby DOES sleep So after two.. let's say challenging... months of Paige's fussiness, lack of sleep and irritability. I finally stripped my diet down to basically the most bland food ever and it worked!! I have to admit I was having a very difficult time bonding with Paige when all she was doing was fussing, screaming and then would finally sleep for only hour or two periods. I was at my wit's end. Now she is this whole new baby! I pretty much can't have dairy, eggs. coffee, most fruits and a lot of veggies, ... The thing that has struck me the most about parenthood is the constant worrying I seem to do. From the time I found out I was pregnant I have worried about Zoey, and that was amplified the second she was born. Now the things that I used to let roll off my shoulders or didn't even recognize, cause me anxiety. Tonight I am sitting up, a ball of anxiety in my stomach, and I am helpless to do anything about what I am worried about. Today I noticed a lump like mass about the size of a quarter just... Tue, 11 Jan 2011 08:45:00 EST Problems with wind/spitting up Lucas has a major problem getting wind up sometimes and it leads to him vomiting up nearly everything he's just eaten, meaning he then has to spend more time feeding, which is a wonderfully fun game at 4am and means my washing machine is running almost constantly!
