SparkPeople Roller Coasters Team Messageboard For those who enjoy visitng amusement parks and riding the rides, thrill or otherwise, especially Rollercoasters! SparkPeople Roller Coasters Team Messageboard Project Wicked Twister So I haven't been able to ride Wicked Twister the last few years - Maybe I could have but it's a pretty tight seat so didn't want the embarrassment of doing the walk of shame - heck last year I had to do the walk for Raptor. This year I will be riding WT, it's a great 'fun' ride, had many good times riding with my daughter when we started becoming regulars at CP.

So at Thanksgiving started 'Project Wicked Twister'. I'm currently between jobs so my job has become working out, tha... Mon, 18 Jan 2016 22:34:51 EST New Rides for 2016 Anyone excited about new rides at their home parks for next year?? Thu, 13 Aug 2015 12:08:39 EST 2015 Goals What are your goals for 2015? I have several, but the big one that fits this discussion group is Wicked Twister - the Impulse/Shuttle Coaster at Cedar Point - I haven't ridden it in several years as my weight went up and it was tight before then. I will ride it this year!!! Sat, 7 Feb 2015 21:47:49 EST Any Winter Park Visits? Anyone going to (or live near) a warm weather park? Team Stacy is definitely missing quick trips to Cedar Point! Sun, 18 Jan 2015 20:46:44 EST Things Disappearing As Park enthusiasts we usually focus on the new things coming to our parks - what about things leaving - any big announcements this year? Tue, 6 Jan 2015 22:15:49 EST body weight limits for rides My colleagues and I were talking about going zip-lining/ roller coaster riding together as a team bonding thing and then one of us pointed out that he often cannot ride because he's over the weight limit. I'm wondering if anyone knows of an online listing anywhere of the weight limits for various rides. It would be nice to find a place where we can all go. Sun, 14 Sep 2014 06:35:51 EST Mantis to be Squashed Don't know if everyone saw the CP announcement that the last day for Mantis (B&M Standup) to operate is Oct 19th. If you wanted this credit you might want to make it to Sandusky Ohio soon!

They haven't announced what will happen, but rumors are that it will become some sort of sit down coaster, possibly a Floorless. We'll see what they tell us (hopefully soon!). Mon, 8 Sep 2014 23:15:16 EST Fury 325 Who is planning to visit Carowinds next Summer???? Sun, 15 Dec 2013 20:52:08 EST Happy National Roller Coaster Day Yesterday in the US was National Roller Coaster Day? Did you Celebrate? Sat, 17 Aug 2013 12:28:42 EST If Anyone Wants to Discuss I was (and am) pretty shocked of the events that happened this past Friday. Mainly the death of a rider on the New Texas Giant. My brother had just been there 3 weeks before and the ride was down because they were having problems with the restraints in the train (or so he was told by a ride op). Two weeks before this tragedy my daughter was at Six Flags Fiesta (San Antonio) and rode the sister coaster - the Iron Rattler. She had a great time and loved the ride - but we never what will ha... Sun, 21 Jul 2013 08:36:54 EST Season Underway - How are you Doing? Hello Everyone, I am finding myself buckling easier into Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster - but the scale doesn't read as well as it did a few months ago. Reality is I haven't been recording or watching what I eat lately - I've let myself get into a non-ending vacation mode and will be stopping that immediately.

On a side note - did the 5K at Cedar Point yesterday - walked most of it with my son, but it was fun and a better family focus than eating lots of food.

... Thu, 18 Oct 2012 12:37:52 EST A New To Think About Things A friend of mine who is a coaster enthusiast (Chris) was overweight and this past Januray decided to do something about it. He started eating healthier and running - running his now a passion of his and he is up to the 10 mile plus for long runs.

I was talking with him and he said how he goes to amusement parks every weekend, and he would often hear friends and other people say 'Hey its a vacation, go ahead and eat up'. Part of his new healthy lifestyle was realizing that hanging... Sat, 28 Jul 2012 10:20:51 EST Cedar Point Opens Saturday! Anyone going this weekend? Sun, 21 Aug 2011 08:52:26 EST Coaster in the Picture Does anyone know what the roller coaster in the picture is???? Mon, 15 Aug 2011 13:20:27 EST Time of Year I'm writing this on August 10 - early to mid August. This is the time of year I really struggle with, last minute cookouts and many birthday parties in our family. The stress and hecticness of "Back to School". The desire to get some last minute coaster trips in and often eating on the run. August quickly becomes a busy September that leads to October. Charity Dinners at church and Halloween Candy, Thanksgiving goodness and Pumpkin pies. At this point I usually refocus - I make it to ... Wed, 10 Aug 2011 13:25:20 EST New ride Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens, FL My two sons participated (sort of) in the media day for Cheetah Hunt yesterday. They were scheduled to ride the second shift of ACE members (to fill the coaster for the media pictures). It means they get to stay on the coaster and ride it over and over - its totally great for coaster lovers without having to get off and stand in line to ride again. Half an hour before they were to ride, the coaster had issues and shut down all afternoon. My sons were so bummed. They were getting ready to... Fri, 27 May 2011 10:32:32 EST What Coaster Tracker(s) Do You Use? I use, and I know a lot of people do, but I'm curious what websites/tracking sites you might use for keeping track of what you've ridden. Tue, 10 May 2011 13:05:27 EST First Time Coasters What coasters are you planning to ride that will be for the first time this year? I'm planning to ride the Voyage and other coasters at Holidayworld - I keep talking about this place but actually plan to make it this year!

I was in Tampa in March - and I would've loved to ride Cheetah Hunt - but regrettably they were still building it.

So what are your plans?? Thu, 5 May 2011 13:04:35 EST Roller Coaster Clubs Is anybody a member of any roller coaster clubs? I am trying to decide on joining one for the summer so that I can go to a couple of events with ERT but am looking for the best one for the money. Right now I am leaning toward Coasterbuzz since they have cheaper rates than ACE and have events at the parks that I want to visit this summer. Any suggestions? Fri, 11 Mar 2011 08:54:58 EST January Birthdays?! Shout out to all the January Birthdays coming up! Happy Birthday! Mine is the 28th of January! WHOOO! Wed, 17 Nov 2010 16:20:34 EST Halloween Season at the Parks Tonight starts Halloweekends at Cedar Point, and I know most parks out there have some type of Haunt or Halloween celebration/Marketing. Tue, 7 Sep 2010 23:09:41 EST Dragster - Front Row After a comedy of errors, my kids and I all rode front row on the Top Thrill Dragster. Much more intense than the other seats, a lot of force right in your face. Sun, 5 Sep 2010 22:39:49 EST What new parks/coasters have you experienced? We've added two new parks this year, a small little park with one coaster in Maryland, and Hershey Park. Hershey was a little slow in how they operated but the rides were nice. Lightning Racer - Thunder we all agreed was the best. Thu, 15 Jul 2010 12:45:46 EST Who has Ridden a Coaster this Season? Our dry spell ended this past weekend visiting Kings Island and putting a few loops on Diamondback and Beast among others. Mon, 26 Apr 2010 12:56:22 EST What to Eat?? Amusement parks are great, they are fun, they are expensive, and they don't have many Healthy Options for Eating.

What strategies do you use - or should we use - to keep from intaking 10,000 calories on a day outing? Mon, 8 Feb 2010 12:23:53 EST What are your top parks - top 3 or 5 or whatever 1) Cedar Point - it rocks, it's close, and it's the world's best park!
2) Kings Island - I like KI - though I had to really think about #2. Some good coasters, some I don't plan to ride again.
3) Canada's Wonderland. I think my kids will love it!
4) Six Flags Great America. It was a fun park, the double carousel, good coaster selection. Just hated the long lines and push to pay more for a Flash Pass.
5) Kings Dominion. Man I can't wait to ride Intimidator 305!
