SparkPeople SP Class of January 10-16, 2010 Team Messageboard This team is for all members who joined SP from January 10-16, 2010. Welcome! SparkPeople SP Class of January 10-16, 2010 Team Messageboard Oct 2015 Chat It can't be October already! REALLY?? Around here where I live (Idaho) we are preparing for winter ... Harvesting the potatoes; bringing the cattle home from the forest range; cutting, splitting, stacking wood for the fireplace; harvesting the last of the garden fruits and vegetables. It's been a great summer and I'm not quite sure I'm mentally ready for winter.

Whether I'm ready or not... Winter will come, and soon. And that is what happens to my sometimes "half-hearted" ... Thu, 1 Oct 2015 20:32:16 EST Sept 2015 chat Lilybelle8, here is the answer to your question.

The Things I have learned mirror what SP teaches.
1- set goals ( for me this was writting it down and joining a challenge group)
2- start small and focused.
10 min of exercise to start allowed me to feel better without feeling pain and worn out.
Before I tried to do it all, this time I focused on nutrition and what used to be my biggest failing - exercise.
3- I learned the body craves what you give it regul... Tue, 15 Sep 2015 17:04:33 EST Missing you ... Here I am, throwing my hat in first because of how long I've been missing from action. If you've been missing also, how about if we have a big class reunion??

It would be nice for us to get back on track ... Or if you are one of those dedicated Sparkers who has been on track all along , how about reaching out to some of us slackers with helping hands and words of encouragement??

We'd love to hear from all of you!!! Mon, 14 Sep 2015 15:56:45 EST How to take control of the Cravings Exercise has been the bain of my health journey so far. As a result, the middle of August I decided to change that. I joined the 10min a day challenge team, started tracking and launched a streak that is currently on day 9.

I am not wearing myself out. Most days are a brisk 15 min walk on the treadmill to avoid the Arizona summer heat (which lasts untill about thanksgiving). I am slowly creating an arsenal of SP exercises and videos that even my damaged knees can handle.
... Sat, 29 Aug 2015 12:57:57 EST Come Back .💥 As your leader, I am a huge flop!! As your Spark Friend, I'm a great success, at least in my own way and mind.

How about a roll call for the team? Who's here? And how about sharing a brief report of your plan and progress.

I'll start: I'm still here, going into our 6th year. At times I've done better, but for sure 'before Spark People' I was doing a lot worse. For me, the best thing about Sparking is that I've got a lot of new friends, and I draw strength from you ... Sun, 21 Jun 2015 21:46:27 EST May 2015 chat Month is almost over and I am just now setting up a chat topic? I think I should fire myself!! I'm visiting in sunny, Southern California for 10 days in a house that does not have any junk food or snacks and it has made me more aware of how much grazing I actually do when I am at home. Thu, 12 Feb 2015 13:35:19 EST February 2015 Chat February already? I am so ready for spring/summer. Have had enough snow and ice to last a very long time! Trouble is we'll have to go through many weeks of mud because the snow will melt long before the frost leaves the ground. And since I live in the rural country, it will be muddy walks for me ... Even so, I'm anxious and ready for a change.

Am trying to give up diet soda ... And it is a struggle. In fact because I am challenged by SAD during our long winters, many things ar... Inspired by Lilybelle's email, I will start the December post and hope lots of team members chime in. I haven't been posting a lot but I am still in the challenge and still working on the weight loss. This is a tough month -- lots of treats around and too many opportunities to slack off -- but I'm still going to aim for eradication of 5 pounds this month. I overdid it and messed up my knee so I'm not getting as much exercise as I would like but hey - life is never perfe... Sun, 15 Dec 2013 20:18:49 EST November Chat Hi All! Just checking in concerning Lilybelle's 3-month challenge to re-start/re-charge our weight loss efforts prior to our 4-year anniversary. For myself, I'm keeping up the tracking and exercise but not doing so well on the weight loss. I'm going to try switching my exercise from walking (which was lovely in October but getting a bit chilly these days) to my elliptical and hope that the change will boost my metabolism and loosen up a couple of pounds! Hope you are all doing well in yo... Thu, 14 Nov 2013 09:16:38 EST Why? When? How? A few questions: Why did I join Spark People in the first place? Today it's back to being focused.

I ate better over the weekend. Very little snacking and little to no desserts. I ate steak, which for me is a huge accomplishment, and tried new veggies. BooHoo - but without Sparking for the past 3 years, I KNOW I would be 12-24 pounds heavier. This time three years ago I was on my way to my goal weight and had already lost 20 lbs. I was down to 135 but then had some dramatic life events that changed my life for the better. Since then I have been trying to juggle family, work, kids, and the normal Army Wife life of doing everything myself. I have been in and out of different diets and occasionally working out. Hey team - I'm totally understanding that we all have plenty to do and very little time to do it in. My attempts at 'jump-starting' our SP Class of January 10-16, 2010 have been feeble, at best - but almost totally ineffective. To those who have responded recently with renewed commitments to yourself and to the team, I thank you!!

Hopefully, someone will come to the rescue, but I'm throwing in the towel as a 'team leader' here. Oh true, I've dropped the ball when I should have been dropping pounds, and I've stumbled when I should have been running - but, we are where we are (or maybe that should be I am where I am) and I want to do better.

If you want to join me, here's wh... I'll start this discussion by saying that one thing that works for me is to really get ready for the day early in the morning. Because I have the luxury of being an "at-home" person, I don't have to get up and put on my face and finery every day to go to work. This can be both good AND bad for my weight loss/exercise efforts. When I slop around all day in some old worn-out sweats or jeans - with no make up, I usually feel lousy an... Tue, 15 Mar 2011 13:56:13 EST Let's do an 'update' ... We're on our 2nd year now! WooHoo! It takes a lot of gumption to stay with it, doesn't it? I'm Heidi and attempting to track better and make better choices. Thu, 21 Jan 2010 09:21:05 EST I'm struggling! No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get in my 8 glasses of water. I chug and chug and chug... and pee and pee and pee... only to find out that I STILL didn't hit the 8 cups mark. I don't know what to do differently.

I know I'm a "sipper" usually. When I was a big soda drinker, I'd get a 20 oz soda, and drink it all day long, often not finishing it by evening. I've never been a guzzler.

Any advice or tips??
