Tue, 21 May 2013 13:46:20 EST Gaining weight :( Help! I finally mentioned to my doctor that I'm gaining weight and that I am always hungry. I was told it is because of the medication I am on. I was told not to worry about it. But I don't want to gain any more and I want to lose what I have gained. I am feeling puffy and bloated and my clothes are not fitting anymore. At this point I am sedentary, just beginning to take very short walks. Any suggestions? So I feel sort of odd being a part of this team. But my grandma, the only one I have a relationship with, was diagnosed with 4 types of cancer in January of 2012. Why the only grandmother I have that has always cared and always loved me and is helpful to a fault. Why four types? 1 wasn't hard enough... (-_-) HELLO, I AM MOTHER OF 2, OVER 40 YRS OLD, 26LBS OVERWEIGHT AND WANT TO START A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. LOVE EXERCISING HOWEVER, WORKING AT HOME FOR THE LAST 4MTHS I HAVE NOW REALIZE MY JEANS ARE SHRINKING (HAHA). WORKING OUTSIDE OF MY HOUSE WAS QUITE A PHYSICAL JOB THAT KEPT ME IN SHAPE AND ALWAYS EASY TO LOOSE WHAT I GAINED, WHICH IS NO MORE, SO YOU CAN NOW UNDERSTAND MY PLIGHT. SO "LETS DO THIS" Tue, 28 Aug 2012 16:44:16 EST Hello! Hello everyone! I'm still figuring out what I'm doing on this site, so sorry if I'm doing this wrong. I'm Shauna. I have Hodgkin's Lymphoma and am doing chemotherapy currently. I'm going to struggle with this diet because I know that most of what I am supposed to eat according to SparkPeople is fresh fruit and vegetables, but I'm not supposed to eat uncooked food because of my chemotherapy. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it! Thanks for reading! Fri, 29 Jun 2012 11:43:28 EST Ellie is Fighting Cancer One Mile at a Time Hi SP Team,
On May 31st I got a clean PET scan, Wahoo!! This is my third time being in remission in the past 3 years of fighting Lymphoma. Like many of you, I've gone through some pretty gnarly treatments. And I'm not wasting another day. In celebration of Life I will be running a marathon in Ireland 2 week before my next scan. I'm sure you can appreciate how lucky I am to have training time in between scans. SP Community Guidelines say I cannot ask you for donations to my fundraising ca... Sat, 23 Jun 2012 22:57:36 EST Hi There :) I just realised that I haven't introduced myself :)

I'm in my mid 40s and just 16 days into being NED (for the 2nd time).

My demon cells started in my colon (who knows when) and were removed in 2006 and I did some 'mop up' chemo. Well those d*mn cells jumped into my blood stream and headed for my lungs (guess they were looking for more fresh air?). I've been kicking those squatters out since late 2009. (Irrotecan/Avastin for 6 months, Xeloda for 2.5 years now).
... Thu, 17 May 2012 10:20:33 EST Some good news and new motivation I just got back from the hospital having my "maintenance" Herceptin infusion and want to share my good news.

On May 2, I have a Syma Scan done on my heart (because of the potential damage to my heart from both the Herceptin and the Arimidex). The last scan shows some degradation in my heart flow but not enough to treat - yet. I was a little worried about what further damage another 3 months on the drugs would have done.

Well (drum roll...) my heart is stronger than it ... Fri, 11 May 2012 14:35:41 EST Getting Back to the Gym I've been in remission and off chemo for one month now, and have been cleared to start exercising and build back my endurance. At 27, I've always been physically active, but never realized how much having to cut back on exercise during my treatments would impact my mood.

That being said, I've started to walk around my neighborhood with friends to work my way back to being active. They've all been incredibly supportive and take turns doing easier walks with me between their regular ... Mon, 16 Jan 2012 11:18:52 EST IMPORTANT: Take the Share Bar off of your Blog! Through another blog I just learned of a new feature on SparkPeople that automatically added a "Share Bar" to our blog entries. I am not sure who to trust. they found Hurthle cells in my biopsy of the thyroid nodule and they just wanted to let it go and wait and see for 6 months if anything changes with a new biopsy.
I was not comfortable with that at all. I researched on the internet and found that the only way they can tell if Hurthle cells are benign or cancerous is to remove the nodule. So now I need to find a good endocrinologi... And how long would it take? My radiation was finished 4 1/2 years ago and my hips are still hurting bad when I try to do things like walking much. The oncologist said it was because the bone marrow was gone. Mon, 10 Oct 2011 22:12:37 EST Challenge for Oct. 9 - Oct. 15 For this weeks challenge we'll see how much we can do without pop. Hope Sun, 25 Sep 2011 15:26:14 EST After five years question When you have passed the five year survival point what kinds of follow-ups do most people have? I have passed five years since the surgery and will have passed the five year point since treatment in March. The oncology department has said no more follow-ups there after March and probably not even any more blood tests for the cancer marker. Have others been at that point and is that what they do? Thu, 22 Sep 2011 16:20:21 EST Prostate Cancer I got bad news today. Five years after my surgery for prostate cancer...I was feeling good. Thought I was going to the doctor for a routine chat with the urologist. Instead I found out that my PSA had risen enough to suggest that I need to go through radiation treatments. So...I still have to talk to an oncologist before I make the decision...but, wondered if anyone out there had experience with this type of radiation.
