SparkPeople Golf Fanatics Team Messageboard 2017 Tour Championship The 2016-17 PGA Tour finale is here with the Tour Championship from Atlanta. Mon, 18 Sep 2017 18:26:20 EST 2017 BMW Championship The PGA season is quickly winding down. Down to the final two events of the season. This week, it's the BMW Championships at Conway Farms Golf Course in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Heading into the final two events, our standings are as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; MC; $0
Week 5 - NO PICK (Pat Perez, Withdrew ear... Wed, 13 Sep 2017 10:45:56 EST 2017 Dell Technologies Championship The top 100 in FedEx points have moved on to TPC Boston for the Dell Technologies Championship. I've gone from ice cold to red hot with our picks. Can I manage one more solid week? It might be enough since the last two playoff events have no cut (although, I famously earned no money once before in a no-cut event!)

The standings are now:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T1... Thu, 31 Aug 2017 14:21:56 EST 2017 Northern Trust Open The playoffs have arrived. The PGA Tour begins the FedEx Cup playoff with the Northern Trust Open, contested this year at a new venue, the Glen Oaks Golf Club.

Last week, the ol' blind squirrel managed to find an acorn! I picked my first winner since way back in week 2. Our standings as the playoff season begins are as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; ... Wed, 23 Aug 2017 11:23:40 EST 2017 Wyndham Championship The PGA Tour remains in the great state of North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship. Here's a link to a nice summary of what's at stake in the final "regular season" event on tour:

fedexcup-playoffs-wyndham-championship
-bubble.html

I'll catch up on our standings nest week so we know how things stand heading into the playoffs. As for this week, I will with Henrik Stenson. Seems like a safe pick, which of course like... Wed, 16 Aug 2017 11:23:41 EST 2017 PGA Championship In yet another sign that Summer is winding down, the year's final Major is upon this week with the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in North Carolina (are you attending Paul?). Heading into this event, here are the updated money list contest standings, following a pretty good week for us at the Bridgestone:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; ... Tue, 8 Aug 2017 13:38:41 EST 2017 WGC Bridgestone Invitational It's a WGC week, with the last tune-up before the last major of the year, as a very strong field heads to Akron to tackle Firestone CC at the Bridgestone Invitational. Following another lackluster week, our year-long money earnings contest now stands as follws:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; MC; $0
Week 5 - NO PICK (Pat Perez, Withdrew e... Tue, 1 Aug 2017 09:10:59 EST 2017 RBC Canadian Open On the heels of "The Open" comes another national open. This week Canada hosts the world's best golfers with the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Course.

Last week as another "what could have been" week for us. The third round was my downfall again and DJ uncharacteristically turned in a poor final round performance after getting into contention with a strong third round. The results mean the standings are now as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker;... Wed, 26 Jul 2017 13:43:05 EST The 2017 Open Championship Major # 3 is here, with the British Open, this year at Royal Birkdale.

Last week I played solo, and had a decent week with a T10 finish. It could have been even better though as I was thisclose to picking Patrick Rodgers as after my realization that I'm getting killed by my pick's 3rd round performance, I looked up the PGA stats to see who had the best third round scoring average and of the top 10, there were only 2 in the field and Rodgers was the highest rated (#5). However, I ... Wed, 19 Jul 2017 11:50:54 EST 2017 John Deere Classic Another feeble week with our picks. The (barely) updated standings now are as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; MC; $0
Week 5 - NO PICK (Pat Perez, Withdrew early into Round 1)
Week 6 - Brandt Snedeker; 4th; $345,600
Week 7 - Dustin Johnson; WINNER; $1,260,000
Week 8 - Sergio Garcia; T14; $102,400
Week 9 - NO PI... Wed, 12 Jul 2017 13:47:46 EST 2017 Greenbrier Classic OK, I'm sticking around work for a night meeting, so I have a chance to catch up a bit. We've been on something of a roll of late, at least by our standards of most of this season! Our last four picks have ranged from at worst a T26, to at best a T3, with 3 of the 4 finding the top 20 for the week.

That brings things to the following status in our year-long earnings contest:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13... Mon, 3 Jul 2017 17:49:31 EST Quicken loans I'll go with Patrick Reed. Thu, 29 Jun 2017 05:59:03 EST 2017 Travelers Championship The PGA Tour heads east to New England and the Traveler's Championship at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut. Quite a strong filed is lined up for a week after a Major event.

I will finally update our money list contest standings:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; MC; $0
Week 5 - NO PICK (Pat Perez, Withdrew early into Round 1) <... Mon, 19 Jun 2017 17:44:23 EST 2017 U.S. Open Well I find myself rushed again and unable to update the standings. Alas, the math from last week if really easy as Paul, your guy missed the cut and I have no idea what happened to my guy as he apparently never teed off. I'm assuming he withdrew, but I didn't catch that. Anyway, I will try again to catch us up next week. Hopefully there will be some big numbers to have to add after the Open. Excuse, the US Open. The Open is taken!

For the second major, at a new venue, purpor... Wed, 14 Jun 2017 11:29:38 EST 2017 FedEx St. Jude Classic Ok, I missed another week updating the standings and almost missed this week's tee time. I'll try to do better next week as we head into the US Open.

This week in Memphis, I'm going with the theory that guys who could gain a berth in the second major with a strong showing will be motivated. Tony Finau apparently fits that description, so he'll be my pick this week. Wed, 7 Jun 2017 19:17:36 EST 2017 St Jude I need to make a cut! Go Rickie Fowler. Wed, 7 Jun 2017 19:17:20 EST 2017 Memorial Tournament Sorry about the late posting again. Wanted to get this out before missing our tee-time.

I think for this week I will pick Adam Scott. I just have a recollection of him playing rather well at this venue.

Paul, who's your pick? Wed, 31 May 2017 15:55:26 EST 2017 Dean and Deluca Invitational It is time for one of the oldest stops on Tour, at Colonial Country Club for the Dean and Deluca Invitational. Apparently only Augusta National has hosted the same event for more consecutive years.

Last week was another week of small gains for me. I have this growing suspicion that I am going to keep creeping up on you Paul and then you'll pick the winner and I'll have a Missed Cut to open up a huge lead again!

The Updated Standings:

PAULOBRY

Wee... Mon, 22 May 2017 17:11:29 EST AT&T Byron Nelson Time to update our standings. Unfortunately the math is not super difficult! In three weeks time we've had two missed cuts and only one finish better than a tie for 35th.

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; MC; $0
Week 5 - NO PICK (Pat Perez, Withdrew early into Round 1)
Week 6 - Brandt Snedeker; 4th; $345,600
Week 7 - Dusti... Mon, 15 May 2017 15:33:14 EST 2017 PLAYERS Championship I'm at last day of my business trip so this will be short. I'll try to catch us totally up on money list next week. Hopefully the math will be harder than it would be right now with two rather unimpressive showings the past two events.

I'll go with Jon Rahm this week.

Paul? Wed, 10 May 2017 06:45:10 EST Wells Fargo The tour makes a stop in my town this week!!! I rec'd a ticket for Thursday so looking forward to seeing the course and the players. I'll go with Webb Simpson and a bet on local comfort with the course. Wed, 3 May 2017 12:58:19 EST 2017 Valero Texas Open The PGA returns to Texas, with this week's stop in San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open.

After a decent showing at the RBC Heritage, our standings for the year are now as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; MC; $0
Week 5 - NO PICK (Pat Perez, Withdrew early into Round 1)
Week 6 - Brandt Snedeker; 4th; $345,600 ... Mon, 17 Apr 2017 13:29:55 EST 2017 RBC Heritage The PGA Tour makes the short hop from Augusta to Hilton Head for the RBC Heritage. They'll be hard-pressed to top last week. What a terrific Masters, with a little bit of everything. And, we had a pretty decent week with our picks with two top 15 finishes that could have been a lot better if the 12th hole did not exist!

Perhaps the highlight of Sunday's final round, outside of the final two-some, was Matt Kuchar's ace on 16. I'll pick him to build on that magical moment this wee... Wed, 12 Apr 2017 13:42:46 EST Armchair officials I tuned into the golf channel last night to hear some BS from Chamblee. His point was that there was a rules infraction and that couldn't be ignored. Also, that golf was the only sport that people are responsible for calling penalties on themselves.

So, I agree with both of those positions. But not in the case of a viewer calling it in. Can you imagine the Super Bowl, World Series or World Cup being decided after the game was over by someone at home calling in a missed call by ... Tue, 4 Apr 2017 14:02:37 EST The 2017 Masters The first Major of 2017 is here, so I wanted to get this out early in the week this time instead of the night before. I'll update our money list later. Not much change this week as Paul's pick of Phil Michelson won practically nothing and my pick of Jordan Speith won, literally nothing!

Have a listen to this as you contemplate your prediction:

HBn6ikg
Mon, 3 Apr 2017 15:04:32 EST 2017 Shell Houston Open OK, so I guess I slept through the WGC Match Play last week. Or maybe my performance so far this year didn't get me in! Whatever the case, there was no contest last week. I apologize, but we're back this week and ready to tee it up for the Shell Houston Open.

Looks like a very strong field that includes a lot of "in form" golfers. First, here are the updates standings:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,3... Tue, 28 Mar 2017 14:23:35 EST 2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational I have to believe this will be a bittersweet event this year at Bay Hill, seeing as how it will be the first API without "The King" being with us. I always find it interesting that for so many golfers, this is essentially a "home" match given how many have homes or second (or third or fourth or ...) homes in or around Orlando.

To bring us up to date on the year-long money quest, the standing are now:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week ... Mon, 13 Mar 2017 11:12:26 EST 2017 Valspar Championship OK, here I go again. Running close to the deadline. Wanted to open the post for this week's even before it's another last minute one. I'll (TRY) to catch up on the money list later today or tomorrow. We certainly didn't add much to it last week!

This week its back to a PGA Tour event and back to the US, with the Valspar Championship at the Copperhead course at Innisbruck, near (I think) Tampa. I can remember the days when this was sort of a B-list event, but it seems to have r... Wed, 8 Mar 2017 11:21:24 EST 2017 WGC Mexico Championship It's been another one of those weeks so I'm really late posting. This week is a WGC event at a first time venue in Mexico. All I know about it is that the course is apparently at a pretty high altitude.

Given that, I'm going to take a flyer on Berndt Wiesberger. Austria certainly has elevation, although I suspect it's a tad warmer in Mexico!

What do you think Paul? Wed, 1 Mar 2017 19:54:14 EST 2017 Honda Classic The PGA Tour heads to the east Coast with the Honda Classic at PGA National. I always get the sense that Spring is around the corner when the Tour hits Florida. This year it seems to already be here, for now at least.

A strong field featuring 12 of the world's top 25 will tee it up. Adam Scott is the defending Champ.

Congratulations to you Paul, for nailing the Genesis Open and picking our second outright winner so far this year with DJ. Here are the updated standing... Tue, 21 Feb 2017 13:52:25 EST 2017 Genesis Open I nearly forgot to post this week! Just a little insight into my week. Budget week and I've gone from being in charge of one small department with a virtually unchanging budget, to overseeing four departments with very different budgets. I'm seeing dollar signs in my sleep!

I will catch our standings up next week. For this week, I'll go with Jason Day. How about you Paul? Wed, 15 Feb 2017 20:43:23 EST 2017 AT&T Peeble Beach Pro-Am Well this could be interesting. The terrible weather that has been pounding much of California could definitely be a factor this week. I read some articles which wonder if all of the courses will be playable. Given that this event has uses a three course rotation, that could pose some logistical nightmares.

Our yearlong standings after last weeks foray into Arizona are as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy;... Wed, 8 Feb 2017 09:47:00 EST 2017 Waste Management Phoenix Open The PGA Tour heads just a bit east this week to Phoenix (technically Scottsdale) for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. After a lackluster week of predictions, our standings are as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680
Week 4 - Dustin Johnson; MC; $0

YTD Total $299,333.33 in 4 events for a per event average earnings of $74,833.33

<... Wed, 1 Feb 2017 11:07:08 EST 2017 Farmers Insurance Open It's the long-awaited return of Tiger, to the site of a lot of past success. There's also a pretty strong filed for this event. Before the picks, here are the updated standings in our running prediction contest:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320
Week 3 - Patrick Reed; T12; $113,680

YTD Total $299,333.33 in 2 events for a per event average earnings of $99,777.78

LBTHOMASJR ... Tue, 24 Jan 2017 15:48:16 EST 2017 CareerBuilder Challenge The PGA our makes the 2017 US Mainland debut with the CareerBuilder Challenge at PGA West. Not the most elite field this week, but some highlights include Phil Mickelson making his 2017 debut, returning champ Jason Dufner, and current World #8 Patrick Reed.

After two events, our year-long money contest stands as follows:

PAULOBRY

Week 1 - Jimmy Walker; T9; $172,333.33
Week 2 - Scott Piercy; T57; $13,320

YTD Total $185,653.33 in 2 event... Wed, 18 Jan 2017 11:23:13 EST 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii The second event and first full-field tourney of 2017 is here this week with the Sony Open. Tue, 10 Jan 2017 14:01:17 EST 2017 SBS Tournament of Champions The first event of the season is upon us, the SBS Tournament of Champions. I believe there are only 32 golfers if the field, so the odds will never be better to pick the winner.

As a reminder, the rules we use limit us to picking any given player only three times in regular tour events, plus once in a Major. It's two contests in one as we're both trying to pick the weekly winner and also accumulating winnings throughout the season.

So step up to the tee and give us your... Tue, 3 Jan 2017 20:13:08 EST Getting Ready for 2017 Well... so much for that promise to post between the last event of 2016 and first event of 2017 so as to keep the team Active! Sorry about that. Time just slips by so quickly anymore.

Believe it or not, the first event of the 2017 half of the 16-17 PGA Tour is only a week away. I'll post the challenge next week. We definitely don't want to miss this one since it is a limited field and, if I remember correctly, no cut - so we're guaranteed to earn some money in the first event ... Thu, 29 Dec 2016 13:50:10 EST Arnold Palmer, RIP I am sure the members of the Golf Fanatics Team were as saddened as I was to hear of the passing last night of a tree giant of the game of golf, in Arnold Palmer. I'm sure his accomplishments will be summarized elsewhere, so I won't bother repeating them here. We golf fanatics probably know them anyway. The fact that mainstream media is reporting this, on front pages, probably speaks louder and more clearly anyway.

I was just curious if anyone on the Golf Fanatics Spark Team mig... Wed, 7 Sep 2016 14:14:42 EST 2016 Deutsche Bank Championship It's off to Boston for the PGA Tour and the Deutsche Bank Championship, leg 2 of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Our picks were of the so-so variety last week, with Lefty rallying for a T13 for me and Jim Furyk picking up a T41 for Paul. I think you have me at dormie Paul, meaning I think I have to go 3 for 3 in winners and hope that your picks either miss the cut or finish very low. Any solid finish this week for you and I think it will be mathematically impossible for me to catch you.

... Tue, 30 Aug 2016 08:41:29 EST 2016 The Barclays It's playoff time! Wed, 17 Aug 2016 08:32:40 EST 2016 John Deere Classic Our predicting skills will be challenged this week as the field is fairly "thin" with the Olympic Golf event happening this week and a number of other top players just taking a week off. Heading down the homestretch after me picking two more MC's, Paul, you've just about lapped me! The standings are:

PAULOBRY
Week 1 - Justin Thomas; T21; $78,333
Week 2 - Brandt Snedeker; 2nd; $626,400
Week 3 - Ryan Palmer; T17; $75,897
Week 4 - Brandt Snedeker: WINNER; $1,... Tue, 9 Aug 2016 10:09:53 EST 2016 Travelers Championship Just realized it is getting late in the week so wanted to post this quick. Will update the standings next week. Not a lot of movement. My pick missed the cut and Paul's pick of Lefty earned him $40-something thousand.

Thus week, I will go with Shane Lowry to win. I think he's due. What do you say Paul? Tue, 2 Aug 2016 23:58:37 EST 2016 PGA Championship Thanks to the inclusion of golf in this summer's Olympics, the fourth and final major of the year is upon us already. The tour heads to New Jersey's Baltusrol for the 98th edition of the PGA Championship.

I's not terribly far from New Jersey and I can tell you that if the weather we've been experiencing the past week or so holds, this might be a battle of attrition. It was 98 degrees here yesterday with a "feel like" temperature of 113. My daughter convinced me to go to her pick-... Tue, 26 Jul 2016 09:00:51 EST 2016 RBC Canadian Open The PGA Tour heads north of the border this week for the RBC Canadian Open for what, I am guessing, has to be a first -- a tournament that is both the week before, and the week after, Majors. Due to golf's return to the Olympics (assuming there are any players actually willing to participate!), the PGA is moved forward on the calendar this year creating this unique situation.

They will be hard-pressed to replicate the drama of Royal Troon,, but a fairly strong field will be on han... Tue, 19 Jul 2016 08:59:47 EST The 2016 British Open Championship If Britain can vote to leave the EU, I think we can vote to re-insert "British" into the name of the tournament they simply call "The Open." Whatever you call it, it's the third major of the year and it rolls around with an unexpected week off for PGA Tour players after the devastating floods in WV led to the cancellation of last week's scheduled stop at Greenbrier.

Our updated money list heading into this week is:

PAULOBRY
Week 1 - Justin Thomas; T21; $78,333 <B... Tue, 12 Jul 2016 10:44:57 EST 2016 WGC Bridgestone Invitational It's the latest WGC event this week with the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron at Firestone Country Club. The usual strong field for a WGC event is in play this week. The updated standings as we head into this event are:

PAULOBRY
Week 1 - Justin Thomas; T21; $78,333
Week 2 - Brandt Snedeker; 2nd; $626,400
Week 3 - Ryan Palmer; T17; $75,897
Week 4 - Brandt Snedeker: WINNER; $1,170,000
Week 5 - J.B. Holmes; T6; $203,450
Week 6 - Dustin Johnson; T... Wed, 29 Jun 2016 08:43:10 EST 2016 Quicken Loans National I will try to update our results tomorrow. I am off today and wanted to post this while I was thinking about it. I will go with Justin Thomas from this somewhat lackluster field at Congressional. How about you
Paul. Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:17:31 EST The 116th US Open The second Major of the year is here with the US Open at Oakmont in the greater Pittsburgh area. My co-worker is going to Sunday's final round. I'm jealous!

Here is the First Look:

COURSE: Oakmont Country Club, 7,254 yards, par 70. With a well-honed standing as America’s toughest test, Oakmont serves as the U.S. Open stage for a record ninth time and almost always identifies golf royalty. Built 112 years ago out of farmland just east of Pittsburgh, Oakmont ... Mon, 13 Jun 2016 15:35:55 EST 2016 FedEx St. Jude Classic It's the last event before the year's second major and the tour is in Memphis for the St. Jude's Classic. Kind of a mixed-bag in terms of quality of field.

I always find the week before a Major the most difficult to predict (although, judging by my performance this year, I ain't so hot any week!). For one thing, it's usually not the strongest field and for another, you have no way of knowing who is taking the tourney really seriously and who is instead trying to fine-tune their g... Wed, 8 Jun 2016 09:47:59 EST 2016 Memorial Tournament Time for the annual stop at the Course that Jack Built (I guess you can say that about a lot of places now though) with The Memorial at Muirfield Village in Ohio. Very strong field, including all of the World's current top 5 players. Here is the website for the weekly's preview:

05/27/storylines-from-muirfield-villag
e.html

So, Paul - who are you going with out of this stellar cast? Here is the preview from

FIELD: Click here to see who's teeing it up at the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational.

• COURSE: Colonial Country Club, 7,204 yards, par 70. Tue, 24 May 2016 08:45:26 EST 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson The PGA Tour returns to Texas this week for the AT&T Byron Nelson. I could not find the Tour's First Look on their website to serve as a preview for us. That sometimes happens when I post this late in the week. Here is a link to their "Experts Picks" for your consideration:

/17/att-byron-nelson.html

I am always hesitant to go with what the so-called experts are saying, but I do like DJ here, so despite half the field ... Wed, 18 May 2016 09:13:08 EST 2016 Players Championship It is time for the so-called Fifth Major, as the PGA Tour heads to TPC Sawgrass for the Players Championship. The traditional very strong field is evident again this week, which on the one hand provides a lot of "likely suspects" to do well, but on the other hand, makes it tougher to narrow in on my pick.

Here is the preview of the event:

COURSE: TPC Sawgrass (Stadium), 7,215 yards, par 72. Celebrating its 35th year as home of the PGA TOUR’s flagship eve... Tue, 10 May 2016 09:27:06 EST 2016 Wells Fargo Championship The Tour heads to Paul's house, or perhaps his backyard, with this year's edition of the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. Here is the First Look:

Quail Hollow Club, 7,575 yards, par 72. The 1961 George Cobb design, with upgrades from Arnold Palmer and Tom Fazio, continues to grow in status since its return to the PGA TOUR schedule in 2003. Not only has Quail Hollow become a favorite among players, but the course will become a major championship venue as host of next year’... Tue, 3 May 2016 08:57:35 EST 2016 Zurich Classic I will catch up on the money list next week. It was a good week for our predictions, probably our best collective effort of the year.

I'm on vacation this week, so just want to get this out. I'm tempted to go with Horschel in back to back weeks, but I'm still in desperation mode, so I think that calls for going with World #1, so come on, Jason Day!

Great puck last week Paul. Who ya going with in the Big Easy? Tue, 26 Apr 2016 21:19:31 EST 2016 Valero Texas Open The PGA Tour returns to Texas and San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. Weather would certainly seem to be a concern given the torrential rains in Houston and Dallas the last few weeks, but it sounds as if it may not be quite as bad in San Antonio, where the forecast is not too terrible until, Sunday at least (80% chance of thunderstorms). The bigger question may be how saturated the course is already and how that will affect what has proven to be one of the more difficult tracks on tour t... Tue, 19 Apr 2016 09:03:37 EST 2016 RBC Heritage The PGA Tour rolls into South Carolina for its annual post-Masters stop, the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town in Hilton Head. A short, challenging Pete Dye design with some great views and interesting holes, the RBC line-up is solid this year. Here is the preview:

COURSE: Harbour Town Golf Links, 7,101 yards, par 71. Widely considered a benchmark in modern design, the Pete Dye/Jack Nicklaus venture remains a timeless test despite its status as one of the shortest layouts on the PGA T... Wed, 13 Apr 2016 08:52:34 EST The 2016 Masters The first Major of the year is here with the Masters. I am traveling this week so want to get this posted while I can. I will update the money contest when I get a chance, probably next week.

Remember our new rules this year limit us to picking a player three times in a non major and once in a major. So anybody is in play this week, but your pick cannot be played again (by you) in either the US Open, The Open, or the PGA.

I think I will go with a player who s both playin... Tue, 5 Apr 2016 00:42:23 EST 2016 Shell Houston Open Wanted the get this out there now as I am in the midst of a crazy week and was afraid I'd forget to. The PGA Tour is in Houston for the Shell Houston Open, the final event before the Masters. I will attempt to update the money list later this week. For some reason it is always hard to find the winnings for anyone but the winner for the Match Play. I'll se what I can do. I know it should be another nice payday for Paul and a pittance for me!

This week I will attempt to turn tha... Tue, 29 Mar 2016 08:39:39 EST 2016 WGC Match Play I will try to update our standings from last week (a good week collectively for us), but wanted to post this week's contest as soon as possible since it starts a day early, on Wednesday (tomorrow) with the opening round 4-man group play. If you're interested (or just want to see how things could play out) there is a college basketball style bracket challenge posted at

I actually have Adam Scott winning, but I don't think I want to use him a s... Tue, 22 Mar 2016 09:02:55 EST 2016 Arnold Palmer Invitational This week, the PGA Tour heads to Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Arnold Palmer, one hell of a golfer, And not a bad drink.

Another strong field with Augusta starting to loom on the horizon. Here is's First look:

FIELD: See who’s set to tee it up at Bay Hill.

• COURSE: Bay Hill Club & Lodge, 7,419 yards, par 72. The 1961 Dick Wilson design got a serious thumbs-up when Arnold Palmer proclaimed it the “best course in Florida” upon ... Tue, 15 Mar 2016 08:57:25 EST 2016 Valspar Championship OK, so we come into this week off a slightly better performance, collectively than has been the case recently. I'll resist the temptation to say we couldn't help it since it was a No-cut event. After all, I managed last year to find a way to win no money in such an arrangement!

With last week's results. the updated standards are now:

PAULOBRY
Week 1 - Justin Thomas; T21; $78,333
Week 2 - Brandt Snedeker; 2nd; $626,400
Week 3 - Ryan Palmer; T17; $75,897... Tue, 8 Mar 2016 08:55:32 EST 2016 WGC Cadillac Championship After our rather unspectacular performances of the last couple of weeks, we move on to the first WGC Event of the year at the Blue Monster of Doral. First, the easy part -- updating the standings:

PAULOBRY
Week 1 - Justin Thomas; T21; $78,333
Week 2 - Brandt Snedeker; 2nd; $626,400
Week 3 - Ryan Palmer; T17; $75,897
Week 4 - Brandt Snedeker: WINNER; $1,170,000
Week 5 - J.B. Tue, 1 Mar 2016 13:29:01 EST 2016 Honda Classic The PGA Tour heads east and judging by the fields the last few weeks, it would appear we're beyond the opening of the season, feeling out period. This week the field is especially strong with 13 of the top 25 in the world set to tee it up in West Palm Beach for the Honda Classic.

The description from's First Look:

COURSE: PGA National (Champion), 7,158 yards, par 70. Tue, 23 Feb 2016 08:51:47 EST 2016 Northern Trust Open It's the last stop on the PGA Tour's Western Swing as the Tour visits historic Riviera Country Club for the Northern Trust Open. A very strong field features Rory McIlrory making his US debut, alongh side world #1 Jordan Spieth. Here's the First Look:

COURSE: Riviera Country Club, 7,322 yards, par 71. A star in its own right from the days when Douglas Fairbanks and Charlie Chaplin graced its fairways, Riviera opened in 1927 and remains one of the best tests in golf. D... Wed, 17 Feb 2016 08:42:13 EST 2016 AT&T Pebble Beach After a foray to Arizona, the PGA Tour returns to California for one of the Annual highlights of the year with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Here's the description from

COURSE: Pebble Beach Golf Links, 6,828 yards, par 72. No list of America’s best courses would be valid without Pebble Beach at or near the top, with the PGA TOUR making an annual visit since 1947. Mon, 8 Feb 2016 09:41:40 EST 2016 Waste Management Phoenix Open It's off to Phoenix this week and the raucous gathering that is the Waste Management Phoenix Open. I am in desperate need of a good week after two straight missed cuts and Paul's first winning pick of the year, which makes the year-to-date standings:

PAULOBRY
Week 1 - Justin Thomas; T21; $78,333
Week 2 - Brandt Snedeker; 2nd; $626,400
Week 3 - Ryan Palmer; T17; $75,897
Week 4 - Brandt Snedeker: WINNER; $1,170,000

Season to-date Total - $1,950,630... Tue, 2 Feb 2016 09:19:18 EST 2016 Farmer's Insurance Open This week's PGA Tour stop is in San Diego for the Farmer's Insurance Open. I'm (probably) going to be away tomorrow moving my daughter back into college so wanted to get this posted as soon as possible (so my feeble brain does not forget!). This move-in was supposed to happen Sunday, but has been moved back two days due to the blizzard. Her college just north of Baltimore was right in the center of the storm's bull's eye.

Last week was a so-so performance for our predictions. ... Mon, 25 Jan 2016 13:18:10 EST 2016 CareerBuilder Challenge The PGA Tour hits the Mainland for the first time in 2016, with the CareerBuilder Challenge, held this year at PGA West, the site perhaps best known as the host of "The Skins Game", for those old enough to remember that event.

Here is the "First Look" summary from

COURSE: TPC Stadium Course at PGA West, 7,113 yards, par 72. It's a New Year and time for a new contest, or more precisely, a new twist on an old contest. For several years (dating to before I joined the team) we've been picking the winners of the upcoming week's tournament. A few year's ago, we added to that by also tracking the accumulated earnings of each person's picks throughout the year, to have two contests in one -- a weekly contest and a full-year contest.

Last year it was noted that maybe the contest cou... Mon, 4 Jan 2016 18:09:48 EST Since it Came Up I seem to recall us wondering out loud this year about whatever happened to Anthony Kim. Paul provided one update at that time. Here's another just out. Interesting, story:

m-golf-only-fond-memory-mine/?pga_cid=
newsletter

Thu, 1 Oct 2015 15:57:29 EST 2015 Tour Championship This year's final event is here with the Tour Championship. Our year-long money list contest got a little closer when Jim Furyk withdrew and Jordan Spieth finished in a T13 and earned $145,750. That means as we head into the final event, the standings are:

LBTHOMASJR - $10,867,085 in 35 events for an average of $310,488.14 per event.
PAULOBRY - $9,760,304 in 33 events for an average of $295,766.79 per event.

The winner's share is $1.4 million so it's not over ye... Wed, 23 Sep 2015 09:19:41 EST 2015 BMW Championship The PGA Tour nears its finish for the 2014-15 season with the next to last event of the year, the BMW Championship in Chicago. The field is limited so there is no cut this week, which means we'll earn something no matter who we pick!

I'm going just slightly outside the group of "usual suspects" this week and pick Jim Furyk. He's had three top 4 finishes amongst his last five starts and the last time this tournament was in this location, he shot a 59 (although, it should be noted ... Tue, 15 Sep 2015 09:08:03 EST 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship It's a Friday start this week for the second week of the FEDEX Playoffs. That gives us an extra day to mull things over. It might yet prove to be my downfall, but I very quickly found who I am going with. IT's back to the pink driver and Bubba this week. He seems to play well in New England and his last three starts were all top 3. That's good enough for me!

What do you think Paul? Thu, 3 Sep 2015 10:54:46 EST 2015 Barclays Sorry - Almost forgot to post this week's picks. I moved my oldest daughter into college this past weekend and I guess this "milestone" still has me in a daze!

The "post-season" kicks off with the Barclay's, contested this year in Edison, NJ. Still seems kind of strange to talk of a post-season playoff in golf, but it has proved exciting, I think. If nothing else, it sure makes the post-PGA Championship part of the season more interesting.

For the opening week, I will... Wed, 26 Aug 2015 11:16:09 EST 2015 Wyndham Championship The post-PGA event is in Greensboro, NC and it is a scramble for the final playoff spots, so there is a reasonably strong field. I think I will go with one who had a very good PGA, highlighted by a final round 66, tied for best on the day -- Brooks Koepka.

What do you say Paul? Is Greensboro close enough for you to consider taking in a round? Tue, 18 Aug 2015 09:31:05 EST 2015 PGA Championship The last Major of the year is once again upon us. It never ceases to amaze me how the golf season flies by, particularly since the Tour has become nearly year-round now. Anyway, as expected arguably the strongest field of the year gathers at Whistling Straits for the PGA Championship. When last there, Dustin Johnson suffered perhaps his first and biggest gaffe in a line of them in majors when he grounded his club in a sand trap. Wouldn't that be a story if he were to win. Then there is Jo... Tue, 11 Aug 2015 13:52:56 EST 2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational This week's event is the final WGC contest of the year and the final warm-up before the PGA Championship next week. Excellent field makes this a tough pick, but I am going with Justin Rose. One of a few players who seem to be in really good form. What do you say, Paul, or anyone else for that matter? Tue, 4 Aug 2015 08:51:48 EST 2015 Quicken Loans National This week the Tour heads to my area, sort of. RTJ National is in Virginia and as such, about 2 and half hours away. It is probably a half hour closer when it is held at Congressional. Not planning on going, but you never know. Personally, I'm hoping Quicken offers me passes as I am in the middle of doing a mortgage refinance with them and the "quick and easy" process is now going on two months to complete!!

Not much to go by in terms of history at the course since this is the f... Tue, 28 Jul 2015 09:01:32 EST RBC Canadian Open Oh Canada! The Tour invades Canada and Glen Abbey for the RBC Canadian Open. Here is's first look, but note that this was posted on the 17th, obviously before the Open turned into a five day event. I suspect that will cause some of the 27 who committed and were playing the Open to reconsider, but I don't know that for sure, or if so, how many or who. Might want to double check the field before making this week's pick. Should you make one and find out that player withdrew, pl... Tue, 21 Jul 2015 09:09:57 EST The 2015 Open Championship The year's third major is upon us. Here's the PGA tour's spin on the event from their website's first look:

• FIELD: Click here to see who's set to tee it up at the Old Course.

• COURSE: St. Andrews (Old Course), 7,297 yards, par 72. The Open Championship returns once again to golf’s ancestral home, where shepherds are said to have started knocking stones into rabbit holes as far back as 800 years ago. The Old Course was formalized in the 1500s with 22 holes – 11 out al... Tue, 14 Jul 2015 09:09:19 EST 2015 John Deere Classic One last stop before heading "across the pond' for the Open Championship. This time it is the John Deere Classic.

I know this is just a tune-up event and perhaps mere weekly Tour events are becoming beneath him, but I can't go against Jordan Spieth with the form he's in.

Anyone else? Wed, 8 Jul 2015 10:35:45 EST 2015 Greenbrier Classic White Sulpher Springs, WV is the site for the Greenbrier Classic this week. An interesting list of past champions, kicked off with Stuart Appleby's memorable final round 59 to win (in 2011, I think?).

Every time this event comes around I can't help but remember that in the entertaining book Golfing with God, the Almighty creator of the entire universe declared the White Course "the perfect golf course". Tue, 30 Jun 2015 08:51:37 EST 2015 Travelers Championship Long trip for many in the field this week as the first post-US Open event is in Hartford, CT for the Travelers Championship. Looks like a fairly strong field, especially considering it is the week after a grueling major.

I will go with Bubba this week. Not impressed by his performance at Chambers Bay, but his track record at this event is hard to knock. Here's hoping he gets his groove back on what seems to be a favorite course. Tue, 23 Jun 2015 08:49:13 EST 2015 US Open The year's second major is here, as the Tour heads to the Pacific Northwest to give Chambers Bay a go for this year's U.S. Open. It looks like a real challenge and there are some potential great storylines to be written. Will one of the current Big Two roll on (Speith, McIlroy)? Will Phil finally complete the Career Grand Slam? Does Tiger have anything left, at least at this point? And a side note -- how will Fox fare on their initial foray into golf coverage?

Here is the pgat... Tue, 2 Jun 2015 09:07:15 EST 2015 AT&T Byron Nelson Does AT&T sponsor every other event on tour?! This week, it's the AT&T Byron Nelson. The link to the "First Look" on is messed up (goes to a highlight instead), so here is at least one guy's take on the top 15 Fantasy Plays for the week:

This week's AT&T Byron Nelson presents an interesting matchup of opposite trends. Both are consistently strong, just how the namesake of the tournament conducted himself on and off the golf course.

On one side, four o... Mon, 11 May 2015 13:28:21 EST 2015 Players Championship The Tour returns to Florida for the infamous, unofficial 5th major -- The Player's Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Will update the money list after this event. Paul, you should make a big jump on the back of your correct pick of Justin Rose in New Orleans. Good job!

As for this week, match play can be a little different creature. There are definitely some guys who seem to rise to this format and a lot of times the winner can be someone somewhat out of the blue. This is all a long way of saying...I have no idea who to ... Tue, 28 Apr 2015 10:26:14 EST 2015 Zurich Classic of New Orleans Traveling this week so want to sure to get this posted. The Tour makes the New Orleans stop this week. I'll take Brendon de Jonge.

I am about as far from home as I can get and remain in the continental U.S. -- Seattle. Took the train down to Portland for a day trip. Nearly jumped out of the train when unbeknownst to me, we went right by Chambers Bay, site of the U.S Open in June. It's going to be different! Looks like it landed there straight from Scotland.

Just get you... Jack Nicklaus’ first venture into course design, in collaboration with Pete Dye, remains a timeless test despite its status as one of the shortest layouts on the PGA TOUR schedule. Mon, 13 Apr 2015 10:10:59 EST The 2015 Masters Tournament Cue the soft piano music and picture the blooming azaleas. It is Masters time.

This year's tourney fascinates me as I have made a case in my head for a good 8 to 10 guys (at least) winning and I can come with another 4 or 5 who would make a fantastic story if they could pull it off. At the end of the day, I come up with three names that I think are in the best position to win it and of those, I'm going with a guy I've picked fairly frequently the last year - Jason Day.

... Mon, 6 Apr 2015 10:51:24 EST 2015 Shell Houston Open wanted to get this posted, but using my iPad, so please excuse any typos! Also means I can't copy the pgatour first look at the event. Back to normal, including an update to our leaderboard, next week. Will Paul make it two in a row?!

My pick this week is Matt Kuchar. Others? Wed, 1 Apr 2015 07:36:56 EST 2015 Valero Texas Open Crazy Week so I am late to post this. The tour is in Texas for the first of two events in the Lone Start state before the Masters. Tue, 3 Mar 2015 08:46:42 EST 2015 Honda Classic Welcome to the East Coast PGA Tour! I sure hope the weather is nicer down in Florida than it is here in the Mid-Atlantic (not to mention the Northeast and much of the rest of the country!). Might tempt me to take a mini-vacation to one of the upcoming Florida stops.

This week it is the Honda Classic at PGA National.'s First Look previews the event as follows:

• COURSE: PGA National (Champion), 7,140 yards, par 70. Next week the tour heads to the east in what I hope is a harbinger of Spring!!

I have a handful of names kicking around in my head, but I think I will tie my fortunes to Bubba Watson this week.

Here is the preview of the event:

COURSE: Riviera Country Club, 7,349 yards, par 71. Wed, 18 Feb 2015 09:16:06 EST 2015 AT&T Pebble Beach Well let's see if we can improve upon last week's showing. A WD and a MC between us, so that shouldn't be too difficult!

I've picked Jason Day a lot over the last year or so, so naturally he wins last week when I pick a guy who gets the flu the day before the tourney starts. I will go back to him and call for him to pull off the fairly rare back-to-back victories. Paul - what say you this week? Anyone else?

Love Pebble Beach. Has to be one of the primary reasons God ... Tue, 10 Feb 2015 09:18:46 EST 2015 Farmers Insurance Open Torrey Pines is the next stop in the PGA Tour. I've always enjoyed this event for a number of reasons, one of which is that is one of a select few Tour Courses I have seen in person. I had a Conference in San Diego years ago and a tour I was on drove by/through the course.

Strong Field this week. summarizes the field as follows:

FIELD WATCH: Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, both still trying to knock off winter rust, come together again at a place where the... Good job last week with our picks as both finished T8. As we head toward the finish line, the season long money contest stands thusly:

PAULOBRY - $4,900,183 in 36 events for an average of $136,116.19 per event
LBTHOMASJR - $8,458,584 in 40 events for an average of $211,464.60 per event

Lots of money at stake this week and with the limited field, we're guaranteed to earn something (unless our pl... Wed, 10 Sep 2014 13:46:27 EST 2014 BMW Championship Almost out of time. Sorry, crazy week and we have one less day this week. I will go with Rory this week. I think he wins the whole thing and a win this week really makes that very likely. Anyone else? Wed, 3 Sep 2014 16:11:05 EST 2014 Duetsche Bank Championship Round 2 of the FedEx Cup playoffs has the Tour heading to TPC Boston. Hunter Mahan now sits atop the standings after his victory in the first postseason event. Will it continue or will someone else make a move this week? I'm going to go with Jason Day. He seems to be on the verge of breaking through. Let it be this week! Submit your pick before tee time, which this week is on Friday as this event ends on Labor Day Monday. Good luck. Thu, 28 Aug 2014 13:17:22 EST 2014 Barclays The FedEx playoffs kick off this week with the Barclays Championship. Who's your pick to when the first event? I like Rory to eventually win the season long title, but for this week, I'll go with Rickie Fowler.

Paul - good job last week. I thought you were at least looking at going to a playoff until that tee-shot on 18. That looked to be as far right as many of my tee shots! Wed, 20 Aug 2014 11:25:19 EST 2014 Wyndham Championship It's the week following a major and for the first time in a while, looks like a so-so field as the Tour heads to Greensboro, NC and the Wyndham Championship. Last chance to make it into the top 125 and qualify for the playoffs. Will that propel someone to a big finish? I'm going for an oldie but goodie. He looked great for a while at the PGA. This week, I'll take Ernie Els. Anyone else? Tue, 12 Aug 2014 08:34:51 EST 21014 PGA Championship Well the final major of the year is upon us. Hard to believe. This year's version is at Valhalla GC in Louisville, KY. Who is your pick to claim the fourth and final Major of 2014?

I usually don't like favorites or repeat winners, but is hard to look past how well Rory McIlrory is playing right now, so I will make him my pick this week. I have a few others in mind, but I trust Rory to at least win me some solid money if he does not win. I'm not quite as confident of that with ... Wed, 6 Aug 2014 08:48:01 EST 2014 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Not a bad week last week. We actually looked like we almost knew what we were doing! Now, can we keep it going for a second consecutive week? In theory it should be easier with the smaller field for this WGC event in Akron. On the other hand, it is a really strong field, so we'll see. I am going to go with someone who seems to be playing too well not to get a victory soon -- Rickie Fowler. Any other takers? Good luck. Wed, 30 Jul 2014 09:14:59 EST 2014 RBC Canadian Open Still Open season, but this week it is of the Canadian variety. Who do you have at the RBC Canadian Open? I will go with Jim Furyk. Any other takers? Wed, 23 Jul 2014 17:06:19 EST The 2014 Open Championship British Version. The third major is here upon us already. Who's your pick to win on the links of Royal Liverpool? I have a couple of outside the box type picks in mind, but in the end I think I will go with Adam Scott, who seems to be becoming something of a Major's machine! Any other takers? Just keep in mind that this tees off in the (relatively) wee hours our time so get your picks in as soon as possible. Good luck. Wed, 16 Jul 2014 11:09:13 EST 2014 John Deere Classic Maybe I need to remind myself that the intent of this contest is to pick a WINNER, not a player likely to miss the cut! I seem to be much better at the latter recently.

So to get back on track, I will go with Zach Johnson. Hopefully he'll at least still be playing on Sunday!

Any other brave souls? Wed, 9 Jul 2014 08:33:17 EST 2014 Greenbrier Classic Time to get back on track after a few less-than-stellar performances from my picks. Let's see if The FedEx Points leader can come through for me. Com eon, Jimmy Walker, my pick this week in West Virginia.

Anyone else? Wed, 2 Jul 2014 08:50:27 EST 2014 Quicken Loans Otherwise known as Tiger's invitational or that tournament at Congressional CC! Unbelievable to me that Tiger is playing. I did not expect to see him at all in 2014.

This week, I will go with Jason Day. Anyone else? Wed, 25 Jun 2014 10:46:39 EST 2014 Travelers Champioship The post US Open tour stop is in Connecticut for the Travelers Championship. Who has the game to bring it home this week? I'll go with Keegan Bradley. Any other guesses? Good luck! Wed, 18 Jun 2014 09:08:28 EST 2014 US Open The year's second major is upon us. This year the US Open is in the great state of North Carolina at iconic Pinehurst #2. I could be setting myself up for a second straight Missed Cut, but I am going with the fairy-tale ending and pick Phil to finally pull through at an Open.

Paul - how close are you to Pinehurst? Are you attending either day? Wed, 11 Jun 2014 12:38:59 EST 2014 FedEx St. Jude's Classic Sorry but missed last week again. Got all caught up in a home improvement project and completely forgot about it. Will try to be more diligent as we head to the Opens and the dog days of summer.

This week the Tour is in Memphis for the FedEx St. Jude's Classic. I'm going to go with John Senden. Seems to be playing really well since getting a long awaited win a few months back. Anyone else venture a guess for this last tournament before the US Open in Pinehurst next week? Wed, 4 Jun 2014 09:20:41 EST 2014 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Want to open this up before I forget. Just glanced at the field and it looks strong again this week. Is it just me or do the fields for the "run-of-the-mill" weekly events seem stronger than ever? Anyway, there seem to be three very good possibilities for this week and I am just going to semi-randomly pick one of them. That is Jim Furyk. Good luck to anyone else who ventures a guess. Wed, 21 May 2014 08:37:04 EST 2014 HP Byron Nelson Classic On to Texas, for the second time, for the PGA Tour. Not sure why they break it up but they do. Several Texans in the field if you want to go with that angle. I'm going with a guy who's been steady all year and is recently getting hot again -- Gary Woodland.

Here's the year -to-date money list challenge update:

PAULOBRY - $3,313,159, total earned in 20 events for ave. earnings of $165,657.95
LBTHOMASJR - $3,811,807 earned in 23 events for ave. of $165,730.74 per e... Wed, 14 May 2014 08:44:18 EST The 2014 Players Championship Sorry about the lapse last week. I was travelling for a Conference associated with my work and just overlooked setting it up for the week. I'll update the yearly standings soon and try to get us back on track now.

The unofficial 5th Major is here as the Tour hits the TPC at Sawgrass, with the iconic 17th hole. I'm starting to come back around on Rory McIlroy and I'll take a shot on him to win this week. Any other takers? Just post prior to Thursday morning's first tee shot! Tue, 6 May 2014 09:00:32 EST 2014 Zurich Classic of New Orleans Looks like my limo crashed on the way to the first tee last week. Evidently it also took out your's Paul as neither of us ventured a guess for the Heritage. Let's try again in New Orleans. I will go with Justin Rose. How about you? Tue, 22 Apr 2014 08:34:17 EST The 2014 Masters The first Major of the year is here. Seems hard to believe we're that far into the year already, but we are. Before the picks, here are the updated standings in the year-long money chase competition:

PAULOBRY - $2,246,959, total earned in 17 events for ave. earnings of $132,174.06
LBTHOMASJR - $3,301,807 earned in 20 events for ave. of $165,090.35 per event

Even with Tiger's absence at this year's Masters (maybe even because of it!) I am really looking forw... Wed, 9 Apr 2014 09:00:06 EST 2014 Shell Houston Open It's the last tournament before the Masters. For some, that means honing there game for Augusta, perhaps for others, it is one last chance to get into the field. Who will win and enter the first Major on a winning streak? I have three or four names that keep coming to mind, but I will ultimately go with Henrik Stenson. Feels like he's due. What do you think Paul? Anyone else care to jump in? Wed, 2 Apr 2014 09:11:56 EST 2014 Valero Texas Open The West Coast and Florida swings are now in the rear-view and the Masters in coming into focus on the horizon as the Tour moves on to Texas and the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. Sorry Paul, but I like one of your favorites here. I'll go with Jordan Speith. What do you say? Tue, 25 Mar 2014 08:42:48 EST PGA tour coming to my town!! They held a press conference yesterday to make it official. Quail Hollow (Charlotte) is hosting the PGA in 2017, so they are going to hold the Well Fargo event in Wilmington that year.

It's been a long time. There was an event played in the 50's and 60's that was the week before the Masters that was played in Wilmington. But, that was before big money came along (kinda like Nascar). Thu, 20 Mar 2014 07:53:22 EST 2014 Arnold Palmer Invitational First - a long overdue update on the season long money contest. Through this past weekend's Valspar Open, the standings are as follows:

PAULOBRY - $2,001,045 total earned in 14 events for ave. earnings of $142,931.79
LBTHOMASJR - $3,119,751 earned in 17 events for ave. of $183,514.76 per event

All in all not bad considering we each have two missed cuts amongst our picks so far this calendar year.

For this week's tourney, I will go with an 'in form" guy, ... Tue, 18 Mar 2014 09:58:35 EST 2014 Valspar Championship OK, I think I am in the right year this week. Either my memory fails me or this tourney has a new sponsor, but it is the one played at Innisbrook's Copperhead Course. Looks like another strong field this week. I think I will go with Harris English who seems to somewhat quietly be having a strong year. Anyone else? Wed, 12 Mar 2014 08:42:05 EST 91 WGC Cadillac Championship So last week was a fairly respectable week for us. Let's see if we can contimue this week. Great field at a classic course at Doral's Blue Monster. Usually love Tiger in WGC events in general at at Doral in particular, but a little concerned about his back and maybe more concerned about his form of late. I think I will play it a bit safer and go with what seems to be my go-to pick so far this year, Dustin Johnson. Tue, 4 Mar 2014 08:57:08 EST 2014 Honda Classic Forget the Groundhog and Polar Votexes (whatever the heck they are). An early and sure sign that spring is around the corner to me is always when the PGA Tour heads east, and it does this week at the Honda Classic. A stellar field tackles what is traditionally one of the toughest courses of the year. Tough to pick this week, but I will go with one who is playing steady right now and has done well here in the past. That is Keegan Bradley. Anyone else up for a prediction? Tue, 25 Feb 2014 09:02:46 EST 2014 WGC Acenture Match Play This week's contest is a WGC event and the one Match Play event of the year. Who will win this all too unique format? I'm going with Hunter Mahan. FYI - If you're interested, you can fill out a bracket a la the NCAA Basketball tourney, at
.
Required a registration, but it's free and simple.

Good luck. Tue, 18 Feb 2014 10:10:47 EST 2014 Northern Trust Open Otherwise known as the Tournament at Riviera. A very solid field at a storied course. Who will win this year? Even though I may still not be able to pick him out of a line-up, it's hard to ignore someone who already has three wins this "year". I'll go with the hot hand and Jimmy Walker. Wed, 12 Feb 2014 09:02:55 EST 2014 Pebble Beach AT&T Pro-Am The PGA Tour is at one of our catherdrals of golf this weekend as they head to the the trio of courses that make up the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. I'll go with someone who's had a little success here once upon a time and take Graeme McDowell. Who do you think has what it takes to win this week? Tue, 4 Feb 2014 08:45:31 EST 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open The PGA Tour leaves California for Phoenix, Arizona and the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Phil Mickelson is the defending champ and has an incredible record here, but of course the health of his back is a big question mark this week.

I read on the PGA's preview page for this tourney that Marc Leishman has improved his finish in five straight events. Last week he finished T2. I'll bet he keeps the streak alive and finishes on top this week. Make your prediction before Thursday'... Tue, 28 Jan 2014 08:38:27 EST 2014 Farmers Insuarance Open The Tour rolls into San Diego and Torry Pines this week. Outstanding field for this event. I can't believe that I am not picking Phil or Tiger with both playing at this venue, but I haven't seen Tiger yet this year and Phil is flying in from Abu Dhabi. I can't imagine that is easy. So I will go with Bill Haas this week.

Anyone want to go with one of the big names, or perhaps a lesser known choice? Good luck. Tue, 21 Jan 2014 08:42:35 EST 2014 Humana Challenge The Tour hits the mainland this week for the Humana Challenge. I remember this as the Bob Hope Classic, played over five rounds. Obviously there has been a name change and I believe the format has them playing the regular four rounds now.

Looks like a very good field, especially given the number of top players who are competing in Abu Dhabi this week. I will go with Webb Simpson to win this week and get me back in the money in our year-long contest. Good luck to all who are wil... Tue, 14 Jan 2014 08:37:22 EST 2014 Sony Hawaiian Open Nice job Paul with a runner-up pick last week. I'll update the money list as soon as I get a chance. Dealing with a busted pipe from this awful cold weather we're having. That sort of has my life in flux at the moment.

I will go with Tim Clark for this week's tourney. I see he had finished second the last two times he's played this event and he's in pretty good form right now.

Good luck this week. Stay warm! Tue, 7 Jan 2014 22:59:06 EST 2014 Hyundai Tournament of Champions Happy New Year everyone. 2014 is here and with it comes the annual Tournament of Champions from Hawaii. With record lows forecast (or already experienced) in much of the country (including where I live for overnight tomorrow night), wouldn't we all love to be watching this event in person?

Great time to jump into our weekly prediction contest because this is a limited field event, thereby (in theory) increasing the odds of predicting the winner. I'll make my first pick of 2014 t... Thu, 2 Jan 2014 10:37:15 EST say hey! I am brand new to playing golf. I LOVE the sport! Having never played any sport, ever, I am being challenged big time to learn the swing but I've never had so much fun either! Where better to be than a golf course??

Its winter right now where I live so my chances to play and practice are severely cut back. I just wait for the temp to reach 40 and the wind to die down! Cool temps aren't so bad if the wind is not blowing. Besides, winter is a good time to take indoor lessons and keep... Tue, 10 Dec 2013 21:10:27 EST Interesting Story Found this to be an intersting story from Fox Sports. It's an interview with Mark O'Meara with his take on Tiger's game and noting that 2014 is a really big year for him. He concludes with a (sort of) prediction of two majors (says he COULD win two) in the upcoming year.

4-will-be-key-to-tiger-woods-chase-of-
jack-nicklaus-record-18-major-titles-m
ark-omeara-world-challenge-pro-am-120413

What's your take? ... Thu, 5 Dec 2013 11:31:12 EST 2013 OHL Classic at Mayakoba OK, the new PGA wrap-around season Fall portion wraps up its initial year with a stop in Mexico. Looks like a solid, but unspectactular field. I think I'll go with Jason Bohn this week. That's based on absolutely nothing oher than scanning the list of entrants and thinking, eh, why not him?! Tue, 12 Nov 2013 10:45:53 EST 2013 McGladrey Classic The fifth of the six Fall events in the new PGA wrap-around schedule is back in the States at St. Simon's Island in Goergia. I read where three from the field in China are also playing this event. Guess they'll really be racking up the frequent flyer miles!

I think I will go with one of the more rested semi-locals - Zach Johnson. Can we have a Johnson and Johnson winning streak? I'm hoping so. Mon, 4 Nov 2013 10:59:44 EST 2013 World Golf Champions hips-HSBC Champions Or perhaps it is technically the 2014 HSBC. I'm still confused by this new calendar!

At any rate, this week it's a WGC event and it is in China. Do you favor a member of the Asian Tour? One who performs well in the WGC events? I think I will take a chance with Dustin Johnson this week. I'm looking for him to take the "next step" this year. Here's hoping it starts this week! Tue, 29 Oct 2013 14:16:30 EST Site Update, Team Update If you have visited your Start Page at all in the last two days, you will have noticed significant changes to the SparkPeople website. In short, the entire look and feel of the Start page has changed. I'm not always big on change, but I like the new look. A lot. If nothing else it has me more faithfully using the site. I understand even more changes are coming, so stay tuned.

In the spirit of the updated overall website, I have decided to give our Team page a tweak. I have re... Tue, 22 Oct 2013 13:54:36 EST 2013 CIMB Classic Week 3 of the new season and the Tour is really on the move as they head to Malaysia this week for the CIMB Classic. Nick Watnery won last year, but on a different course as the tournament moves to a new venue this year. Just a reminder, make your picks by Wednesday this week as due to the time difference they'll be teeing off Wednesday evening (I think) our time.

Although it is his first time playing competitively in Asia, I'm going to go with Phil Mickelson. He seems to play w... Mon, 21 Oct 2013 10:38:17 EST 2013 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Event number 2 of the 2013-14 PGA Season is in Las Vegas, the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Who's your pick to bring home the win in Vegas? I'll go with Nick Watney. I understand he's a Vegas boy (now) so I'm hoping there's a home-course advantage at play. Mon, 14 Oct 2013 10:20:33 EST 2013 Open The new PGA wrap-around season format starts tomorrow with the Open. This and five more events in 2013 will actually constitute the beginning of the 2014 season.

It looks like a good, if not spectacular field, for this week's tourney. Who do you have to win the first event of the new season? I'm going to go with Billy Horschel. Had a very good 2013, especially early. Let's see if he can build on that. Wed, 9 Oct 2013 09:22:11 EST Final Standings and Here We Go Again! To put a bow on the 2013 PGA Season and our year-long money list contest, here are the final standings:

LBTHOMASJR - $8,,474,037 in 35 events for an average of $242,115.34/event

PAULOBRY - $4,840,435 in 34 events for an average of $142,365.74/event

So, I managed to bounce back after last year's crushing, nail-biting loss in the Innaugural Edition of this contest.

However, there is no time to rest on my laurels as I had forgotten that starting ... Mon, 30 Sep 2013 14:24:29 EST Heading into Final Event Update Here are the standings in the season-long money earning contest as we head into the final event on the PGA calendar:

LBTHOMASJR - $8,300437 in 34 events for an average of $244,130.50/event

PAULOBRY - $4,69,835 in 33 events for an average of $142,267.73/event

Ah, wouldn't it be nice to cash in even a fraction of that cyber-money?!! Tue, 17 Sep 2013 09:35:39 EST 2013 Tour Championship Well believe it or not the PGA Tour's "regular' season comes to a close this weekend with the top 30 in Fed Ex points competing in the Tour Championship? For the last time in 2013 - who do you think will win the tournament? Bonus question - who wins the Fed Ex Cup? I'm going to pick one of the guys inside the top 5 to win this week, which means that will also be my pick to win the cup. I'm going with Adam Scott.

Thanks for playing agian this year. I will try to come up with at... Tue, 17 Sep 2013 09:17:26 EST 2013 BMW Championship After a one week break we're down to the final two events, beginning with the BMW Championship. Who's your pick to bring home the win? I'll go with Tiger this week. Tue, 10 Sep 2013 08:43:33 EST 2013 Deutsche Bank Week 2 of the playoffs and a reduced field heads to Boston. Remember, because this is the Labor Day weekend, this is a Friday to Monday tournament. I will go with Matt Kuchar this week. Who's your pick? Thu, 29 Aug 2013 06:19:34 EST August 23 Standings Here is an update of where we stand in the season-long money contest as we head into the play-offs:

LBTHOMASJR - $7,750,937 in 31 events for an average of $250,030.23/event

PAULOBRY - $4,546,115 in 30 events for an average of $151,337.17/event

I will try to update weekly or at least every other week during the play-offs so we know where we stand as this winds to a conclusion. Fri, 23 Aug 2013 14:08:50 EST 2013 Barclays The PGA "post-season" begins with the Barclays, that Tournament with the Statue of Liberty in the background! Who do you back to get off to a great start in the hunt for the Fedex Cup? I will go with Jason Day. Pretty stedy all year and certainly seems to raise his game in the bigger events. Wed, 21 Aug 2013 09:49:57 EST 2013 Wyndham Championship The final event of the PGA Regular Season is here in the form of the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, NC. Sergio Garcia is the defending champ. A lot is on the line as only the top 125 in FedEx points move on to the playoffs and the top 125 on the money list are fully exempt on next year's tour. So, who will prevail with all this pressure? There are a few in the field who are on a something of a roll. I'll go with one in Bill Haas. Tue, 13 Aug 2013 08:24:20 EST 2013 PGA Championship It is hard to believe, but the season's final Major is here already. Will somoene win two majors this year? Will Tiger finally win another? How about one of the other hot hands?

I'm going with the latter and pick Brandt Snedeker. He's been one of the steadiest players all year so I'll trust him to at least play well if not win it.

Who's your pick for this year's PGA Championship? Mon, 5 Aug 2013 10:42:29 EST 2103 WGC Bridgestone Classic Sorry for the late posting. Almost forgot again. I'm slipping!

Ok, I think it is time to jump back on the Tiger bandwagon. He's generally very solid on this course. There are a few others I like this week, but none more than him. Wed, 31 Jul 2013 13:36:02 EST Oh Canada, Oh Canada! I'll go with Dustin. I think he is rounding into form. Thu, 25 Jul 2013 08:23:38 EST The 2013 (British) open Major #3 has arrived with the 2013 Open at Muirfield. Ernie Els is defending Champ and also has won on this course. Phil and the youngster Jordan Speith are both riding victories last weekend. So, who are you taking? On the basis of absolutely nothing but a hunch, I'll take a real flyer on Ian Poulter. Wed, 17 Jul 2013 09:00:10 EST July 11 Standings It has been quite a while since I updated the standings so here we go:

LBTHOMASJR - $5,739,550 in 26 events for an average of $220,751.92/event

PAULOBRY - $3,247,238 in 24 events for an average of $135,301.58/event

You made up a lot of ground since the last update Paul. Congratulations. I still have a decent lead, but I'll be sweating if we have a couple top 5's for you and MC's for me and picking a winner really adds up. Thu, 11 Jul 2013 16:04:54 EST 2013 John Deere Classic The Tour heads to a TPC Course that has historically yielded a lot of low scores as the players make some final adjustments before "The Open". Who will win the John Deere Classic? I'll go with Keegan Bradley again. I feel like he's due. Tue, 9 Jul 2013 08:38:52 EST 2013 Greenbrier I'm gonna take a media favorite: Scott Stallings. Hot lately and also has a win at Greenbrier. Wed, 3 Jul 2013 15:02:50 EST 2013 AT&T National The Tour comes to my area this week as they head to Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, MD. I've been to the At&T once and the former Kemper Open next door at Avenel TPC 3 or 4 times. Always great fun.And always ssems to be hotter than the hinges of Hades and this week would appear to be no exception, at least for the opening round tomorrow. Anyway, who do you like this week, in the heat? I'll go with Brandt Sneedeker. Wed, 26 Jun 2013 12:43:37 EST 2013 Traveler's Championship I must be working too hard as I nearly forgot to start this post again this week! So who you got for the Traveler's? I'll take Keegan Bradley. For some unknown reason I like him on these TPC-type courses. Wed, 19 Jun 2013 15:58:34 EST 2013 US Open Ready to make your pick? Wed, 12 Jun 2013 14:33:51 EST 2013 FedEx St. Jude Classic The Tour is in Memphis, Tennessee this week for the last event before the U.S. Open. Kind of a tough field to gauge, but I'll go with Robert Karlsson. He's finished in a playoff here two out of the last three years and is playing well now. Anyone else? Just let me know before tee-time tomorrow. Good luck. Wed, 5 Jun 2013 09:16:49 EST The 2013 Memorial Tournament It's time for Jack's annual tournament in Ohio. Tiger won it last year. Will he defend his title or will someone else claim the victory? I am going with someone else this week.. I'll take Adam Scott. Wed, 29 May 2013 09:35:46 EST 2013 Crowne Plaza Invitational The Texas Tour continues this week with the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Last week Charl Schwartzel would have won going away if he could have putted a lick. I think he'll figure it out this week, so he's my pick. Anyone else? Wed, 22 May 2013 08:46:40 EST 2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship The PGA Tour is in Texas this week. Jason Dufner is the defending champion. Who will win this year's Byron Nelson? I wil go with Matt Kuchar. he's just one of several "in form" players heading into this tourney. Could be an exciting weekend. Good luck. Wed, 15 May 2013 10:25:55 EST May 8th 2013 Standings The May update on the season-long Tour money contest:

PAULOBRY - $1,100,731 won in 15 events for an average of $73,382.07 per event.

LBTHOMASJR - $5,039,049 won in 17 events for an average of $296,414.65 per event.

Paul - It looks like you picked Henrik Stenson for an event he did not compete in (at least I did not find him anywhere on the final leaderboard). That is inherently different than picking a player who goes on to miss the cut. I think ... Wed, 8 May 2013 11:14:55 EST 2013 Players Championship I know it's been a few years since the switch, but this still seems out of place on the calendar to me. Nevertheless, the Tour is at the TPC at Sawgrass for the Players Championship. Who do you have this week in the unofficial "5th Major"? I think I'll go with Lee Westwood. I seem to recall some decent showings here and he's coming off a good week. How about anyone else? Wed, 8 May 2013 08:33:06 EST 2013 Wells Fargo Championship The Tour is off to Quail Hollow in Vharlotte, NC for the Wells Fargo Championship. Unlke last week, I have anumber of possibilities in mind. I think I'll go with Rory McIlroy. It's about time he figured things out and started winning again. Wed, 1 May 2013 09:01:00 EST 2013 Zurich Classic of New Orleans This week the Tour heads to the Big Easy. Tough time making a pick this week for me. Nobody jumps out at me in the field. I'll go with Justin Rose. I think he's overdue for a win. Just make apick before tomorrow's first tee-time to join in the fun. Wed, 24 Apr 2013 11:36:19 EST 2013 RBC Heritage Running a little late this week. I've been traveling for work and just now back to regular computer access. This week we'll do it a little different and have up to one day's results to factor into our picks. I'll go ahead now and select Jason Day, who as I write this is at -2 and a T8. Just make a pick prior to tomorrow's first tee-time and you're good. Good luck. Thu, 18 Apr 2013 11:32:34 EST The 2013 Masters The year's first major has arrived! Who will don the Green Jacket come Sunday evening? I've had great luck riding the Tiger bandwagon early this year and he certainly has a fine history at Augusta, so even though up until 2 or 3 months ago I was convinced he had won his last major, I'll take him again this week.

What does our on-the-course correspondent say? How about anyone else? Tue, 9 Apr 2013 14:25:01 EST April 2, Money List Update It has been 6 weeks since my initial update on the year-long money list contest, so I better catch up. Through this past weekend's Shell Houston Open the standings are as follows:

PAULOBRY - $946,706 won in 11 events for an average of $86,064.18 per event.

LBTHOMASJR - $4,344,325 won in 12 events for an average of $362,027.08 per event.

Looks like I have a nice lead, but it's all on the strength of the winners I've been lucky enough to pick. Throw thos... Tue, 2 Apr 2013 09:45:23 EST 2103 Valero Texas Open It's on to the Texas Hill Country for the last stop before the Master's. I think it is tough this week. It's not the strongest field to begin with and you never know who is trying really hard and who's just working on some aspect of their game for Augusta. That said, I'll take Matt Kuchar this week. How about a pick from the Augusta-bound man? Tue, 2 Apr 2013 09:13:38 EST 2013 Shell Houston Open The Tour leaves Florida and heads for Texas this week with the Shell Houston Open. Hunter Mahan is the Defending Champ. I think it is time for the American's streak to come to an end and I'll go with Rory to be the one to end it. Wouldn't it be great to have both he and Tiger on a roll heading to Augusta? Wed, 27 Mar 2013 10:18:05 EST 2013 Arnold Palmer Invitational Wow, almost forgot to post this week. Where does the time go? This week's Tour stop is in Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Although I'm not crazy about the attention Tiger has gotten this week for off-the-course stuff, I love him at this course so I'll go with him one more time. Wed, 20 Mar 2013 13:01:11 EST 2013 Tampa Bay Championship Isn't this a new name for this tourney? At any rate, the Tour stops at Innisbrook Resort this week. Luke Donald won last year (whatever it was called!). I'll take Matt Kuchar this week. Anyone else? Wed, 13 Mar 2013 08:50:37 EST 2013 WGC Cadillac Championship Sorry for the lateness of this week's contest. I was off on Monday & my internal clock is still off a day. This week is the second WGC event, this time at Doral. Who do you like to tame the Blue Monster? Tiger has had a bit of an up and down year so far, but I like him here. Wed, 6 Mar 2013 18:18:32 EST 2013 Honda Classic The Tour kicks off this year's Florida Swing with the Honda Classic. Rory McIlroy won here last year. I'll go with his countryman, Graeme McDowell to win this year.

Let's hope a return to stroke play means a return to some better picks after a first round exit and a second round exit amongst our selections in the WGC Match Play event last week! Tue, 26 Feb 2013 08:45:31 EST First 2013 Standings OK, I need to tally these up sooner or later so here we go. From the Sony Open through the Norther Trust (Riviera) here's how the season long money chase stands:

PAULOBRY - $626,050 in winnings from 5 tournaments for average winnings of $125,210

LBTHOMASJR - $1,359,171 from 6 tourneys for average of $226,528.50

Among the "highlights":

We have picked one winner so far. We also have 5 Missed Cuts between us (did we have that many in all of last seas... Wed, 20 Feb 2013 11:32:59 EST 2013 WGC Accenture Match Play The event that reminds me of March Madness because of the "brackets" arrives this week in Arizona, with the Accenture Match Play Championship. I love this event because it's not just about who's hot, but also about potential match-ups. Hunter Mahan is the defending champ here. This year, I'm going with Nick Watney based on nothing more than I like his potential match-ups throughout the bracket. Anyone else care to make a pick? Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:51:39 EST 2013 Northern Trust Open OK, nothing like putting this off until the last minute. I nearly forgot it altogether. Anyway, the Tour hits Riviera in LA for the Northern Trust Open. I will go with Webb Simpson. Based on my form this year, he'll either win or miss the cut! Anyone else venture a guess? Thu, 14 Feb 2013 08:36:00 EST 2013 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am One of the non-major highlights of the year in my book, as the Tour hits the Monterrey Peninsula for the Annual AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. That place is so beautiful, I could just watch unmanned cameras pointed at any one of the many signature holes there. One of life;s best uses of HDTV!

Lefty is both the defending Champion at this event and coming off a win in Phoenix. I like him to do well, but this week I am going with Dustin Johnson for the win. Wed, 6 Feb 2013 08:59:08 EST 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open I know they are still playing at Torry Pines due to the weather delays, but I am about to "disappear" for a couple of days so I wanted to start this week's thread. Haven't even given the field much thought, but I always like Phil in Arizona so I'll go ahead and go with Lefty this week. Anyone else who wants to play, feel free to take right up until tee time Thursday. I just wasn't sure I'd be back online until then. Good Luck! Mon, 28 Jan 2013 09:32:49 EST 2013 Farmers Insurance Open It is on to Torrey Pines and the Farmers Insurance Open. A strong field will be there, where Brandt Snedeker is the defending champ and Tiger makes his 2013 Tour debut at a site where he has been wildly successful. All that said, who do you like? I'm going with a gut maybe a little under the radar, but he's played well here in the past and is off to a great start this year - Marc Leishman. Tue, 22 Jan 2013 10:56:13 EST 2013 Humana Challenge The Tour hits the mainland this weekend as it rolls into La Quinta for the Humana Challenge. I believe this was formerly the Bob Hope Classic until a few years ago. Mark Wilson is the defending champ and if I recall correctly, it usually requires a really low score to win here (although to be fair this used to be a 90 hole tourney).

I'll go with Bill Haas this week. Anyone else? Wed, 16 Jan 2013 08:31:46 EST 2013 Sony Open in Hawaii Welcome Back PGA Tour Fans. I hope everyone had a great off-season and is ready for a new year.

It's time to start our two pick-'em contests that we run throughout the year. It's very simple, just make one pick each week of the player you think will win that week's tournament, and you'll be competing in two contests simultaneously. The first is merely to see if you can pick that week's winner. The second uses the winning that your player earns and assigns them to you for that w... Tue, 8 Jan 2013 09:07:39 EST Final Standings OK, the results are in and would you believe that after a year-long, 28 event competition, our little friendly contest would end as follows:

LBTHOMASJR - $6,510,012.89 ($232,500.46 ave. after 28 events)
PAULOBRY - $6,514,143 ($232,647.96 ave. after 28 events)

Congratulations to PAULOBRY, the winner by a grand total of $4,130.11!! Thanks for coming up with the idea Paul. This contest was a lot of fun. We'll do it all again in January with the Hyundai Tournament of... Tue, 25 Sep 2012 09:33:09 EST 2012 Tour Championship The final event of the PGA official season. Who will take home the trophy at East Lake and (bonus question) who will win the Fed Ex Cup?

The smart strategy would probably be to pick someone "safe", someone who I'm pretty sure would finish in the top 5 even if they don't win. However, just as I don't usually lay-up when I should, I'm going with a higher risk-reward pick here. I'll take Dustin Johnson for the win and to also bring home the Cup when Rory and Tiger both finish worse... Tue, 18 Sep 2012 09:29:06 EST September 18 Standings Well we have come to the final event of our year-long money challenge and heading into it, the standings are as follows:

LBTHOMASJR - $6304252.89 ($233490.85 ave. after 27 events)
PAULOBRY - $6266143 ($232079.37 ave. after 27 events)

Doing the math that means after 27 events, picking a few winners here and there, enduring a few Missed Cuts, and generally making solid picks from week-to-week, Paul, we're separated by a mere $38,109.89. That pretty much assures that ... Tue, 18 Sep 2012 09:22:11 EST September 5 Standings OK, before I fall hopelessly behind in terms of being able to find and calculate the results, here are the updated Year-Long Money List Challenge Standings, taking into account the last 6 events:

LBTHOMASJR - $5,952,252.89 ($228,932.80 ave. after 26 events)
PAULOBRY - $5,988,143 ($230,313.19 ave. after 26 events)

So after 26 events and just two remaining, we are separated by a mere $35K or so! This is more drama than the FedEx Championship!

Wed, 5 Sep 2012 09:15:54 EST 2012 BMW Championship The Playoffs are down to the top 70 as the Tour heads to Crooked Stick in Carmel, IN. You'd think with a smaller field this would be easier, but I am finding this one of the tougher weeks to make a pick. I have several names in mind, but I'll go back to Tiger this week. He's certainly in the playoff hunt, seems to be in good form, and I think this course suits his game. Wed, 5 Sep 2012 08:45:06 EST 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship Week 2 of the play-offs heads to Boston. Note that the tournament is Friday to Monday this week to take advantage of Monday's holiday. Webb Simpson is the defending champ here. I like him, but I think I like Luke Donald to pick up the win even more. Tue, 28 Aug 2012 08:59:00 EST 2012 Barclays OK - Let the Playoff's begin. The top 125 in FedEx points tackle a tough course at Bethpage (or as I like to call it - BethPaige, in honor of my two daughters, Beth and Paige. No truth to the rumor that had we had a son he would have been named Augusta!)

I like Bubba Watson here. Seems to do well on long courses and this certainly qualifies. Wed, 22 Aug 2012 08:47:45 EST Penalty assessed at PGA Championship I don't think I will ever reach a competence level with the rules of golf.

Beginning in 2012, the rules changed which made an exception to the penalty applied when the golf ball moves. My understanding was that if the ball moved on the green due to wind, no penalty.

Jimenz was on the green, addressed the ball and it moved. The flag was straight out and the wind was at least 15 mph. He called in the rules official and I thought "no penalty". The ruling: since he had a... Wed, 15 Aug 2012 15:54:25 EST 2012 Wyndham Championship OK, as we enter post-major season on the Tour, the first stop up is the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, NC. I'm going to go a little off the board here and pick Blake Adams to come through for the victory.

Paul - did you get to the PGA this weekend? Tue, 14 Aug 2012 09:29:04 EST 2012 PGA Championship Hard to believe, but 2012's final major is here already. Where did the time go?

This year's PGA is at Kiawah Island, SC at the Ocean Course. I think a Major on this course has the potential to be an "instant classic". Who do you think can endure to claim the year's final Major? I'm going with Graeme McDowell. Good luck to all who enter. Mon, 6 Aug 2012 12:47:27 EST 2012 Bridgestone Invitational This week the feature event is a WGC event, the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone CC in Akron. A lot of the so-called experts seem to like Tiger here. I'm going to go with Hunter Mahan though. Wed, 1 Aug 2012 09:57:32 EST RBC Canadian Open It's another Open this week, this time in Canada. Who will win north of our border? Last year it was Sean O'Hair and the last time this tourney was played on this course, Jim Furyk won. This time around, I will go with Matt Kuchar. Tue, 24 Jul 2012 10:59:09 EST July 24 Standings Here are the long overdue standings, taking into account our predictions and outcomes for the last five tournaments, beginning with the Traveler's and concluding with this past weekend's Open:

LBTHOMASJR - $5,507,613.89 ($275,380.69 ave. after 20 events)
PAULOBRY - $5,143,669 ($257,183.45 ave. after 20 events)

Sorry to be so long between updates. Looks like we knew what we were doing in this time-frame, with a win each and several top tens! Tue, 24 Jul 2012 10:55:38 EST 2012 Open Championship Since I might forget to check in later tonite, I'll start this thread. I like Tiger to finally add another major. I think his course strategy and mental toughness will offset any mechanical issues. Wed, 18 Jul 2012 17:32:48 EST 2012 John Deere Classic Sorry to be away for so long. On vacation this week. I will update everything next week. As for this week's tourney, it is awfully tempting to go with Steve Stricker since he has, what, three wins here in a row? However, it is hard to see anyone winning the same tournament four times consecutively, so I will go with someone I think has quietly been playing better and better through the year - Brendon De Jonge. Wed, 11 Jul 2012 21:40:44 EST 2012 Greenbrier Classic The Tour rolls into West Virginia this week for the Greenbrier Classic. Who will win at this great classic course , described in the book "Golfing with God " as the perfect golf course? It is tempting to go with Tiger again, but I think instead I will go with Dustin Johnson. Tue, 3 Jul 2012 12:46:21 EST 2012 AT&T National The Tour comes to (near) DC this week for the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club. Remember that this tourney has been in Philadelphia the past two years leading up to last year's US Open at Congressional. I'll go with the host, Tiger Woods to win this week. Still an outside chance I may go see some of this in person. If so I will be sure to give everyone a firsthand report! Tue, 26 Jun 2012 09:07:46 EST June 19 standings Here are the standings updated to include the two most recent tournaments:

PAULOBRY - $3,523,944 (ave. $234,929.60 in 15 events)
LBTHOMASJR - $3,699,673.89 (ave. $246,644.93 in 15 events)

You smoked me at St. Judes when I had yet another missed cut with Zach Johnson but we both looked good at the US Open with a T3 and T10. Tue, 19 Jun 2012 11:11:44 EST 2012 Traveler's Championship The Tour heads all the way across country this week for the Traveler's Championship in Cromwell, CT. Historically this is a great place to go-low. Who will go the lowest this week? I will pick Bubba Watson to bounce back from his sub-par Open performance and claim the victory. Tue, 19 Jun 2012 10:56:20 EST 2012 US Open It is time for the year's second major. Who will win at Olympic Country Club in San Francisco? I am going with Lee Westwood. He's got to win a major sometime doesn't he? Tue, 12 Jun 2012 08:29:31 EST June 6 Standings The standings following the Memorial:

PAULOBRY - $2,978,303(ave. $229,100.23 in 13 events)
LBTHOMASJR - $3,536,079.89 (ave. $272,006.15 in 13 events)

Another good week for the prognosticators with the winner and a T13 amongst our picks. Wed, 6 Jun 2012 13:14:36 EST 2012 FedEx St. Jude Classic The week before a major is always tough to pick to me. Hard to tell who will be playing as a normal tournament, who will simply be working on shots they think they'll need at Olympic, etc.... All that said, I will ride the Zach Johnson train one more week (at least). Good luck to any and all willing to play this week. Wed, 6 Jun 2012 11:20:36 EST May 30 Standings It has been two weeks since I updated the standings and it was quite a contrast in our performance in the two tournaments played since the last standings. In the first, we both missed the cut. In the second we both picked top 5 finishers! Here's to more week's like the last one (although, the math is a lot easier when we miss the cut!)

PAULOBRY - $2,858,436 (ave. $238,203 in 12 events)
LBTHOMASJR - $2,420,079.89 (ave. $201,673.32 in 12 events) Wed, 30 May 2012 15:54:30 EST The Memorial Tournament Almost forgot to post this before the tourney! Three day weekend has my timing off. Anyway, who do you think will win at Muirfield? I know I probably shouldn't, especially after coming off picking a winner, but I am going to take a flyer on Tiger here. Wed, 30 May 2012 15:38:51 EST 2012 Crowne Plaza Invitational The Tour doesn't travel very far for this week's tourney. David Toms is the defending Champ and Jason Duffner is red hot. Who will win the event formerly known as the Colonial? I will have a go with Zach Johnson. Tue, 22 May 2012 08:55:36 EST May 15 Update The standings in our year-long money list challenge are as follows:

PAULOBRY - $2,641,476 (ave. $264,147.60 in 10 events)
LBTHOMASJR - $1,268,079.89 (ave. $126,807.99 in 10 events)

Good luck going forward. Also, it's not too late to join. There will be a winner for the overall dollar amount, but we'll also give one for the highest average per event so there are two ways to win and it's never too late to enter. Tue, 15 May 2012 08:48:45 EST 2012 HP Byron Nelson Championship The Tour heads back to Texas and the Dallas-Forth Worth area. Who will win the Byron Nelson? I will take Carl Petterson. Tue, 15 May 2012 08:37:30 EST 2012 THE PLAYERS Championship As expected a very strong field for the unofficial "fifth major" at TPC Sawgrass. Who will win it this year? I have three names in my head, but I'll go with Luke Donald. Make a prediction before tee time Thursday for a chance to win a coveted virtual trophy! Tue, 8 May 2012 09:48:03 EST May 7 Standings Well we both earned money. although not a lot. The updated standings:

PAULOBRY - $2,621,476 (ave. $291,275.11 in 9 events)
LBTHOMASJR - $926,078.89 (ave. $102,897.65 in 9 events)

This the result of Zach Johnson earning $13,000 for a T-69 for me and Jim Furyk earning $47,125 for a T-26 for PAULOBRY. Mon, 7 May 2012 18:23:10 EST 2012 Wells Fargo Championship Quail Hollow in Charlotte is the venue this week for the Tour. Who will win the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship? I will take Zach Johnson to win this week. Tue, 1 May 2012 08:53:53 EST April 30 Stanings Sorry I have been a little slack in keeping this up to date. Here are the current year-long contest standings updated to include the three events since I last updated following the Masters:

PAULOBRY - $2,574,351 (ave. $321,793.88 in 8 events)
LBTHOMASJR - $913,078.89 (ave. $114,134.86 in 8 events)

Nice job PAULOBRY with two wins out of eight possible events since we started this contest! Mon, 30 Apr 2012 15:31:55 EST 2012 Zurich Classic of New Orleans The Tour rolls into one of America's great cities this week as they head to New Orleans. Who will win in the Big Easy? I'm going with Steve Stricker this week. PAULOBRY, who you got? Anyone else want to join in?

Also - I will try to update the season-long contest sometime today. Been a bit busy lately with travel for work and the inevitable pile of tasks that awaited me upon my return! Wed, 25 Apr 2012 08:40:49 EST 2012 Valero Texas Open The Tour swings into Texas this week. Who will win at the TPC in San Antonio? I will go with Matt Kuchar to try to get back on track. Good luck to any and all participating. Wed, 18 Apr 2012 11:07:31 EST April 10 Standings After the Master's, here are the updated standings in our season-long money winnings contest:

PAULOBRY - $1,319,721 (5 events; ave. $263,944.20/event)
LBTHOMASJR - $569,838.89 (5 events ave. $113,967.78/event)

I made more gains this week with Lee Westwood's T3, but the impact of victories (and avoiding $0's!) really shows in the standings. Tue, 10 Apr 2012 09:06:49 EST 2012 RBC Heritage The Tour heads to Hilton Head for the week after the Master's. Looks like a reasonably strong field for this slot on the schedule. I will go with Aaron Baddely this week. Good luck to anyone else who wants to join in. Tue, 10 Apr 2012 08:42:35 EST April 4 Standings After the Shell Houston Open, here are the updated standards in the year-long prize-winnings contest:

PAULOBRY - $1,287,721 (4 events; ave. $321,930.25/event)
LBTHOMASJR - $185,838.89 (4 events ave. $46,459.73/event)

I closed the gap a little with Ernie Els' T12, but still a long way to go to make up for two weeks with no earnings! Good luck at the Masters. A chance to earn a lot of money. Wed, 4 Apr 2012 15:53:48 EST 2012 Masters The year's first Major is here. Who will win? I have wrestled with a dozen or so names that I could easily see winning. Guess it is time to settle on one, so I will go with Lee Westwood to get the monkey off his back and claim his first Major. Wed, 4 Apr 2012 15:34:27 EST March 28 Standings The Season long money winnings challenge standings as of 3/28/12:

PAULOBRY - $1,260,071 (3 events; ave. $420,023.67/event)
LBTHOMASJR - $53,838.89 (3 events ave. $17,946.30/event)

PAULOBRY has a commanding lead after a solid T4 for Bubba Watson compared to my MC for Sang-Moon Bae to go along with my Tiger Woods WD three weeks ago. Why didn't I have him this week instead?!! Wed, 28 Mar 2012 09:56:40 EST 2012 Shell Houston Open PAULOBRY, I feel like you should have the honor and pick first after the butt-kicking you've been giving me the past three or four weeks. So have at it, the entire field is open to you! And, if anyone else wants to join in, please be my guest and submit your pick to win this week anytime before tee-time tomorrow morning. Wed, 28 Mar 2012 09:32:43 EST 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational Sorry but I am late getting this up this week. Busy time at work and yesterday was my birthday so I have been a bit distracted.

We can either pick someone yet to tee off or if you prefer we can pick before tomorrow's tee-times with full knowledge of today's results. If you prefer the former, I will go with Sang-Moon Bae. I know that is risky. He's had a couple of very good finishes and a couple of bottom of the leaderboard type tournaments. If you'd rather wait until tomorrow,... Thu, 22 Mar 2012 09:29:09 EST 2012 Transitions Championship If you didn't follow the chatter last week in the message board, we are changing the format for this little contest to make it two contests in one. We'll still try to pick the winner for the week, but we're also starting a running tally of prize money for a season-long contest. After week 1, PAULOBRY is in the lead as his pick last week, Dustin Johnson, finished T35 and earned $60,500 while my pick Tiger Woods, WD on Sunday for no earnings. You'd think he could have limped around for 6 mor... Tue, 13 Mar 2012 13:05:32 EST 2012 WGC Cadillac Challenge Who will tame the Blue Monster of Doral and claim this week's WGC prize? OK, I'll fall into the trap and go with Tiger Woods this week. I like him at this venue and even without the 62 this past Sunday, he seems to be coming around at last. Tue, 6 Mar 2012 12:46:11 EST 2012 Honda Classic So my selection last week, Y.E. Yang didn't turn out so well. Match play can be tougher, your pick either wins or you're out. No chance to make up for a slightly off day the rest of the week.

Back to stroke play this week as the Tour heads to the East Coast and the Florida swing. This week it is the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens. Another very strong field this week making it tough to pick, but I am going to go with a gut who has been hot, although a little under the radar... Tue, 28 Feb 2012 15:56:05 EST 2012 Accenture World Match Play Championship A little bit of a change-up this week as stroke play is out and match play is the rule of order. If you want to make a prediction, it might help to see the brackets, which you can find here:
t/r470/

I've filled mine out and I have a very low seed winning, #14 Y.E. Yang. I know kind of a long shot, but I'll take a flyer on him. Anyone else? Tue, 21 Feb 2012 18:06:09 EST Hello and FORE! Resident of Columbus, Ohio and ready to get my game into gear. Alas, my weight ballooned by +25 LBS dating back to last September. Some I can blame on meds taken for high triglycerides (4 months; quite on 05 FEB) and some I can blame on a 7-day office work week. Still, no excuse for loading on the LBS.

So I found SPARKPEOPLE and think this is a really cool community of people who have nearly identical goals: lose weight, reestablish health and GOLF!

My short term go... Thu, 16 Feb 2012 09:29:08 EST 21012 Northern Trust Open @ Riviera CC The Tour heads to Los Angeles' Riviera Country Club for one of the oldest stops on Tour. It includes a very strong field where the defending champ, Aaron Baddely is coming off a top 5 finish at Peeble Beach, Phil Mickelson comes in as last week's winner and has a history of playing well here, and world #1 Luke Donald makes his PGA debut at a course where he has had a lot of success (last year's missed cut notwithstanding). With all that said I am going to go with a guy who has been playing ... Tue, 14 Feb 2012 10:33:49 EST 2012 AT&T Peeble Beach Well I almost had two winners n a row -- if only tournaments ended after the first round! I will try to get back in the winners circle this week with Dustin Johnson. Add your prediction by replying to this post! Wed, 8 Feb 2012 15:37:25 EST 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open Hey, I finally got one right last week. First time since last year's U.S. Open if I remember correctly. See how easy it would be to beat me in this game?!

As for this week, I am going with Webb Simpson to win in Phoenix. Mark Wilson is the defending champ. Anyone else wish to make a prediction? Tue, 31 Jan 2012 08:44:54 EST 2012 Farmers Insurance Open @ Torrey Pines OK, I'm not off to a great start so far in 2012 in the prediction game. Looking to turn that around this week by going with Brandt Snedeker. Anyone else up to a guess? Tue, 24 Jan 2012 09:05:03 EST 2012 Humana Challenge @ La Quinta, CA Old Tournament with new name/sponsor. This was formerly the Bob Hope Classic (and wasn't it usually 5 rounds?) Defending Champ is Jhonattan Vegas. Who will win this year? I will take a chance on Matt Kuchar. Anyone else? Tue, 17 Jan 2012 11:10:56 EST 2012 Hyundai Tournament of Champions Another Tour season is here and with it, another year of predicting the winner here on PGA Tour Fans SparkTeam. Who do you think will win the first tournament of the year in Hawaii? It's a limited field, so your odds of picking the winner are improved! I will go with Aaron Baddely. He always seems to do well early in the season so I'll take a shot with him. Anyone else care to make a guess. A lovely virtual trophy is up for grabs! Tue, 3 Jan 2012 12:39:29 EST Happy New Year Happy New Year all, I never was a fan of weight loss as a New Year's resolution, because for the most part, I was dedicated to taking care of my myself for the better part of the last decade. But guess what......I let myself go over the past few years and find myself in almost the worst shape of my life. So here I am, January 2, 2012 making a New Year's resolution to rededicate myself. No more drinking beer while I watch the biggest loser. I look forward to talking to you all in the near futu... Mon, 2 Jan 2012 10:40:22 EST Off Season Golf Fix? Since this is a slow time of year for the PGA Tour, I thought I'd start a topic about what you do during the so-called off-season to get your golf fix? Do you just simply take a break and pick up interest again in January? Are you a real junkie and follow all the smaller Fall tournaments, Q-school, and/or made-for TV events?

I try to keep up by reading about whatever event is taking place and I will probably follow the President's Cup fairly closely. I also would love to get out... Tue, 8 Nov 2011 10:15:05 EST The 2011 Tour Championship For the final time this year -- who will win this week at East Lake CC? I'm going with Justin Rose to close the season with back-to-back wins. Wed, 21 Sep 2011 09:54:29 EST 2011 BMW Championship After a one week break, the Tour Playoff's resume at the BMW Championship at Cog Hill. Who will win and take a major step forward in the race towards the season-long title? I'll take Bubba Watson this week. Will anyone else make a guess? Mon, 12 Sep 2011 09:54:38 EST 2011 Deutsche Bank Championship After an abbreviated start to the play-off season, who wins and who moves on this week in Boston? I'm going with Nick Watney this week. Tue, 30 Aug 2011 08:52:29 EST 2011 The Barclays Anyone dare to make a prediction? I will go with Steve Stricker. Wed, 24 Aug 2011 10:53:16 EST 2011 Wyndham Championship I am going to predict Trevor Immelman to win the first post-major tour event of 2011. Arjun Atwal is the defending champ. Will anyone else hazard a guess? Wed, 17 Aug 2011 16:00:22 EST 2011 PGA Championship Who will win the year's final Major (is it just me or has this year flown by?)? Will an American finally break the grip of the foreign contingent? Can a Northern Irelander win yet again? I am rooting for an American to bring it home, but alas I am picking a foreigner, although this time an Aussie. I am going with Jason Day. Tue, 9 Aug 2011 09:06:02 EST 2011 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Tiger Woods returns again to competitive golf. Will it be a triumphant return? This certainly has been a kind venue to him through the years (not including last year!). Still, I have to see something before I am ready to pick Tiger. This week I will go with Luke Donald to win this WGC event. Wed, 3 Aug 2011 10:53:32 EST 2011 Greenbriar Classic Who will claim the title as the Tour stops in beautiful West Virginia? Remember last year's dramatic final round 59 by Stuart Appleby? Will he repeat as champ? I am going with Ricky Barnes for this year's tourney. Tue, 26 Jul 2011 09:01:45 EST 2011 Open Championship Who will come out on top in the year's third major? Will an American finally win one or will the foreign contingent continue on their roll? I say they will and this time I am going with Graeme McDowell to win his second Major in two years. Wed, 13 Jul 2011 14:27:24 EST 2011 Traveller's Championship Finally, I picked one right with last week's US Open selection. It's about time. Now, can I get two in a row? Will anyone else take a shot? I will go with Jason Bohn this week. Anyone else venture a guess for this week's tourney in CT? Tue, 21 Jun 2011 15:38:31 EST 2011 U.S. Open OK, I know this Tournament either just teed off or is about to do so, but it's not too late to make a pick. I was actually at Tuesday's practice round at Congressional and had a chance to see probably 95% of the field. I have never been to a Practice Round (or to any part of a Major for that matter). It was very interesting. I think Phil has perhaps his best chance in quite some time to win due to a break with the weather such that the rough has not grown to the typical ridiculous heights... Thu, 16 Jun 2011 08:24:08 EST 2011 Fedex St. Judes Classic Last event before the US Open. Who will have their game in shape? I think I will take a shot on Boo Weekly. Tue, 7 Jun 2011 08:30:02 EST The 2011 Memorial As the US Open creeps onto the Radar, the tour makes it's annual stop for The Memorial. I will go with new world #1 - Luke Donald. Anyone else? Tue, 31 May 2011 09:11:33 EST 2011 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial CC The Tour heads back to Texas this week. Who will take the "Crowne"? I am picking Zach Johnson to defend his title. Does anyone else have a prediction? Tue, 17 May 2011 09:02:25 EST 2011 Players Championship This week, the unofficial, so-called 5th major takes place at TPC Sawgrass. Last year Tim Clark took home the trophy. Who will win this year? I say, Camillo Villegas. Anyone else care to take a guess? Tue, 10 May 2011 10:09:15 EST 2011 Wells Fargo Championship Time to pick the winner of the event at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, NC. Rory McIlroy is the defending champ here. I will go with Phil Mickelson this week. Tue, 3 May 2011 08:52:04 EST 2011 Zurich Classic Who will win in the Big Easy? Jason Bohn is the defending champ. I'll go with Justin Rose to win this year. Thu, 28 Apr 2011 09:26:59 EST 2011 Heritage (Hilton Head, SC) Jim Furyk is the 2010 Champ. Will he repeat? Will another young gun step up for their first win? I'm going with a veteran with Stewart Cink who tweeted earlier this week that this is his favorite course on the tour. Wed, 20 Apr 2011 11:09:24 EST 2011 Valero Texas Open Well when you're wrong, you might as well be really wrong and boy was I with my Master's pick! That's OK. It is on to another week. This week the Tour heads to San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open, where Adam Scott is the defending champ. Who will win the title this year? I will say it is time for Geoff Oglivy to step up and win. Wed, 13 Apr 2011 10:57:14 EST The Masters - 2011 Sorry to miss a week again guys. I was on vacation last week and frankly just forgot. On to this week and the first Major of the year. Who will wear the Green Jacket? It always seems like an "old pro" veteran type always comes out of nowhere and does better than expected. Phil and Tiger also generally play quite well here. All that said, I think I will go with arguably the best player in the world right now and pick Martin Kaymer to win his first Green Jacket. Good luck to anyone willi... Wed, 6 Apr 2011 11:32:32 EST 2011 Bay Hill Arnold Palmer Invitational Sorry that I missed last week folks, but I will be honest -- there's no way I would have had Gary Woodland winning! This week, I am going back to Tiger. I can't believe he won't win again, and why not start right in his own back yard? Tue, 22 Mar 2011 10:18:43 EST 2011 WGC Cadillac Championship This week is a WGC event at the Blue Monster. Ernie Els is the defending champ. I am going with Martin Kaymer this week. Anyone else have a say? Tue, 8 Mar 2011 11:15:10 EST 2011 Honda Classic Time to pick this week's winner as the tour swings into Florida. I will go with Rickie Fowler this week. Anyone else hazard a guess? Tue, 1 Mar 2011 08:49:58 EST 2011 WGC Accenture Match Play Who will win the premier match play event of the year? For a list of the pairings and brackets, see
ture-match-play.pdf

I will predict Hunter Mahan wins the tourney. Looking forward to this somewhat unique event. Wish they had more of this format throughout the year. Wed, 23 Feb 2011 08:43:42 EST Northern Trust Open It's time to pick a winner. The Northern Trust Open is the current name of the tourney held at Rivera CC. Steve Stricker is your defending champ. I think I will go with a man who usually has a great early season, Stuart Appleby. What say you? Wed, 16 Feb 2011 12:52:29 EST 2011 AT&T Pebble Beach OK, I know I am a little late this week, but I solemnly swear under penalty of perjury and loss of 100 Spark Points, that I have no idea what is happening right now in this tournament or if it has even started yet. With that said, I am picking Dustin Johnson to repeat here at Pebble Beach. Thu, 10 Feb 2011 13:10:43 EST 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open OK, so at least I got a little more respectable with my pick last week finishing third. This week I am going with who I expect is probably the favorite in Phil Mickelson. Anybody else care to hazard a guess?

While we're at it, I'll say that the Packers win the Super Bowl in a good one, 31-28. Wed, 2 Feb 2011 12:50:51 EST 2011 Farmers Insurance Open @ Torrey Pines, Tiger and Phil finally come out to play! Who will win in San Diego, site of the memorable 2008 US Open? I think I will go with a guy I'm looking to have a big season, Dustin Johnson. Tue, 25 Jan 2011 08:54:51 EST 2011 Bob Hope Classic OK we need anyone's picks a day earlier this week as this is a 90 hole tournament starting on Wednesday. I myself am going with Matt Kuchar this week. Good luck to anyone willing to take a shot. Tue, 18 Jan 2011 09:47:05 EST 2011 Sony Open Who is your pick to win the first full field event of 2011, the Sony Hawaii Open?

I'll go with Steve Sricker. What say you, anyone? Mon, 10 Jan 2011 15:05:03 EST 2011 Hyundai Tournament of Champions It's time! The 2011 PGA season kicks off with the limited field 2011 Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Reply to this post with who you think will win this year's event before the first tee time on Thursday to be eligible for fabulous Spark Goodies (OK - they're really just virtual trophies, but more importantly you get bragging rights!).

Your defending Champion is Geoff Oglivy. I will get us started this year by picking Stuart Appleby. Good luck to all. Tue, 4 Jan 2011 11:27:57 EST Hello All I can't wait for the new PGA season to start, only a week away!!!! Tue, 28 Dec 2010 20:11:12 EST 2011 Tour Schedule Sometimes it seems like the golf season never ends. Then again when it does, it seems like it will never start again.
