SparkPeople PCOS Naturally Team Messageboard Newbie! Hi ladies!

I am new to the group and would love to get to know all of you a little more! I have lost 150 lbs by sticking to a meal and exercise plan that works for me but for the last few years I have been stuck on the longest plateau of my LIFE. I have started over in the hopes of achieving the same results as last time but, the more time goes on the more symptoms I see from PCOS and sometimes it feels almost impossible to lose weight. Sun, 12 Apr 2015 14:24:43 EST Hello My name is Carol-Lynne. I was diagnosed with PCOS 18 years ago. I have tried the traditional remedies and have found that none of them work at all. I recently came across a nutritionist and acupuncturist in Ontario who has made huge strides in treating PCOS naturally. So, I have been trying to change my diet completely. So far I am working on removing 90% of my sugar intake, which happens to be pop and bread, and processed sugars in convenience foods. I am trying to bring home cooked meals ba... Sun, 25 Jan 2015 23:57:12 EST Woman Code Book Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of Alisa Vitti, the author of Woman Code? Or even the book itself. Lately I've been watching a lot of youtube videos and reading articles on new information about PCOS. Some of it just seems so out there and I know you need to check the source for each article, but this author keep coming up with some really interesting information. Just curious to see if anyone had read the book and found it helpful before spending the money. Sat, 26 Apr 2014 09:56:15 EST PCOS symptom you hate the most? There are so many PCOS symptoms to hate. Sometimes, thinking about what we are freeing ourselves from can help to keep us motivated. What are you most looking forward to lessening or being rid of?

For me, the increased risk of cancer if what scares me the most. The biggest hassle is the daily maintenance of unwanted hair! :/

What about you??

Allison Mon, 30 Dec 2013 19:08:20 EST I'm back! Hi everyone,

I'm back as team leader of this group! I hope everyone has been doing well. There's been lots of new and exciting research into PCOS, it's genetic causes and some of the more obscure biochemical sequelae it causes, over the last year and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you.

All the best,

Belrosa Fri, 23 Aug 2013 02:19:22 EST Cause of PCOS Doctors can't make up their mind about what causes PCOS. They are all on different pages.
My Endocrinologist says PCOS causes weight gain. The Ob/Gyn said that having excess weight was the cause of PCOS.

I disagree. I truly believe PCOS causes weight issues. If it was the other way around, why would women who are thin suffer from this condition?

I know a lot of women say they didn't have symptoms until they were overweight but that doesn't mean the condition wasn... It's been a WHILE since I've posted. I was so aggravated by my new girly Dr. when he told me he refused to put me on birth control pills because I am OBESE and over 35. grrrr I had just lost 30 pounds and was feeling good they dropped the morbidly word and that was a slap in the face. I went to my "annual get violated girly Dr. visit" around Christmas and my new doctor refused to put me on the pill because I am fat and over 35. Actually, his word was obese. Anywho... His ON... I have taken a hiatus recently from Sparkpeople which really means I was frustrated and threw in the towel so I am going to do whatever I want because no one can stop me. Wed, 23 May 2012 13:21:53 EST Checking in. Please post your progress! Hey y'all! I just wanted to stop in and check with everyone. How are you all doing? Mon, 16 Apr 2012 18:48:49 EST Hello :) Hello everyone! I'm Jocie. I am not entirely new to SparkPeople. It's something I've come and gone from always scared to commit and fail. I'm at a point in my life where I'm making positive changes everywhere. One step at a time. I'm trying to learn that a small setback is not a failure. One of my goals this year is to be truly active amongst the online communities I'm a part of, something I've lacked in the past. So here I am, getting on the horse again. I have been resistant in the past to joining a group discussion, but I think this time I could really use the support.

I'm very happy to see a group that is organized with PCOS, the last time I attempted Spark there wasn't a group and I couldn't organize one myself because I was just starting my career.

I want to lose weight in a healthy, controllable manner. Mon, 6 Feb 2012 17:15:04 EST My blog about seeing a Nutritionist The nutritionist was very nice and listened without judgement, but the official party line is "Eat less, and exercise more". Does this work for anyone out there? She at least strongly disagreed with my OBGYN who told me to eat only 1,000 calories a day and forget about exercising. She said 1,000 calories would be only if I was 4'10" and wasn't losing weight at 1,200 range. But even then, she would encourage more exercise before starvation levels.

I printed out three d... Mon, 30 Jan 2012 21:33:56 EST Insulin Resistance Test ??? Mon, 23 Jan 2012 14:05:46 EST Aspirin and Periods I started an aspirin regimen in December for a possible clotting issue and have noticed a change in length and flow of my periods since then. I was curious if anyone had noticed a change when they started taking an aspirin a day. I haven't been able to find much info online about it and mine are actually shorter and lighter which contradicts what I have found. Just wondering what others have experienced if they have started on aspirin therapy. Sun, 22 Jan 2012 11:12:05 EST ZUMBA Oh my good Lord. I joined a gym today strictly to do Zumba. I LOVE it! In 1991 I had surgery on my ovaries and did get pregnant, but miscarried. I got pregnant again 4 months later and had a son who is now 16. My doctor retired, so I was on a search for a new one to help me. I was shocked. When I told one doctor about my symptoms and that I thought I produced too much insulin, he called me fat and lazy and said I was just looking for an easy way out. He made me cry and feel reall... I had a Sparkpeople account a couple of years ago, but wasn't really ready (for various reasons) to commit to it. I made a lot of healthy changes in my life without Sparkpeople, but have come back around to a place where I need some extra boosting and support. So I started a new account and started a page and am joining groups (the whole nine yards). I'm hoping that really engaging this time will help bolster my commitment to be more in the moment in my everyday (healthy) ... Wed, 12 Mar 2008 13:40:37 EST A GREAT BOOK FOUND! Hi girlfriends! Aside from a few setbacks (nothing over my allotted daily calorie intake) I have followed my no carb diet to the letter since 1/22. I was first diagnosed with PCOS in 2002 after a nurse practitioner finally noticed my cluster of symptoms. Have been infertile and gaining weight ever since. I see that it says that there is a specific diet that you all follow. Where can I find it posted? Tue, 17 Apr 2007 10:36:03 EST What can I expect? Hi there! Just wondering if anyone has any info. Fri, 5 Jan 2007 00:35:45 EST New here :) Hi everyone! I'm new here and am happy to have found this board. But last spring I decided to stop depending on doctors and get the facts about PCOS... Fri, 22 Sep 2006 17:12:42 EST where is everyone from? I was just curious...
