SparkPeople Paleo Diet Team Messageboard The Paleolithic Diet returns to what humans have been eating for the past 2 million years, before agriculture, obesity, diabetes, and other ailments unheard of in hunter-gatherer societies. SparkPeople Paleo Diet Team Messageboard counting calories Hi,
I have been tracking my food for almost a month now to get myself on track. At this point, I know what I can and cannot eat. So the question is are you guys counting calories or tracking your food? I am thinking about not worrying so much about tracking now that I have cleaned my diet up. Do you think that tracking is something that is necessary?
Mary Thu, 29 Jan 2015 04:52:44 EST whats in your coffee? I use sweet in low and coconut milk. i love the sweet taste in my coffee. Anyone have ideas for sweetener in coffee that is Paleo??? I used to dump huge amounts of sugar in my coffee so sweet in low is an improvement for me, but I know it is not the best. I would love to hear what everyone puts in their coffee. Tue, 27 Jan 2015 10:06:56 EST Free Paleo e-Books I follow Just Eat Real Food on Facebook and a couple times a week they post links to free paleo e-Books for Kindle. Heads up that occasionally one sneaks in that isn't free. They aren't any books that you'd find in a bookstore, but I've found a few good recipes in a couple of them. I don't have a Kindle, but I use them through the Kindle app on my phone and computer. Mon, 19 Jan 2015 22:41:27 EST relapse Last night was not good. After having the yucky shrimp and butternut squash soup, I was disappointed and hungry. Then after arguing with my husband over his Mother (again, lol) I gave into temptation and made some popcorn. Of course I still felt bad about doing that today and ended up eating a handful of chips. What a horrible domino effect and also a very destructive habit I also fall into. I don't feel like I want to just blow everything and give up yet but it's very hard staying on track. ... Thu, 8 Jan 2015 13:35:24 EST Diabetic? Wed, 7 Jan 2015 11:22:03 EST quick meal ideas???? Good evening! I am new to Paleo and trying to find quick meal ideas for myself and family. I have a husband and two daughters and only I am going Paleo right now, but when I can I want to be making Paleo meals for them too. Mon, 5 Jan 2015 20:56:04 EST Nom Nom Paleo cookbook I received a Nom Nom Paleo cookbook for Christmas, there are so many recipes to try I don't know where to start. Anyone have any recommendations? Wed, 31 Dec 2014 17:28:54 EST I need buddies!! HELP!

I'm new and I came here because I'm looking for a support group to help me with my goals. I'm looking to lose 40lbs and gain my life back. I'll journal almost daily and track my progress and it'd be great to have some people to share this journey with :) Wed, 26 Nov 2014 00:58:14 EST Celiac, new to paleo :) Hi all,

I have Celiac disease, so I removed wheat/rye/barley from my diet about 10 years ago, when I was diagnosed. I feel like I may becoming sensitive to some of the grains that I still eat, so I am excited to go without them and see how I feel (though I do love me some grains)! I'd like to feel awesome instead of okay :).

Looking forward to learning from you all! Fri, 21 Nov 2014 13:23:55 EST New to Paleo!! Hello Everyone! I am new to Paleo and very excited about it. I lost 5 pounds in my first 2 days of my trial run :) I'm thinking this was a difficult time to start Paleo, with the holidays coming up, but I'm going to give it my all. I love, love, love sugar. So that's been difficult. How is everyone else doing? Thu, 20 Nov 2014 11:45:08 EST southwestern casserole We tried another new recipe tonight. It was a bit of work, mainly because I don't have a food processor so I had to grate the sweet potatoes by hand. But it made a good amount and we liked it. Another for the win column. We've tried so many new things and have only had one dinner we didn't really like.

If I did this right, here's the link
asserole#more-5411

If I didn'... Sun, 16 Nov 2014 09:45:07 EST Whipped topping I found a recipe for pumpkin custard (like the filling of pumpkin pie). It's very good, but needs a dollop of whipped"cream". I tried whipping full fat coconut milk, but it just got frothy. Is there a way to make whipped cream without using dairy? I haven't looked at the store to see if there's one to buy. Sun, 16 Nov 2014 06:49:50 EST Hi (: To be honest, I'm a bit addicted to sugar in every form. But I've read up on the paleo diet for the past month or so and it really seems worth trying... so here we are. Feel free to add me as a friend so we can motivate each other (: Fri, 31 Oct 2014 23:57:05 EST Still a little confused So in order to lose weight you need to stay under a certain caloric intake. I read somewhere that IF you keep carbs under 75(?) grams you dont need to count calories? When I ate LOW carb (20 ish) then yes I could eat all the fat and meat I wanted, but lately my carb count has been hovering around 80-110 grams per day (all healthy carbs).

So with a carb count that high, I am better to keep an eye on my caloric intake correct? If I dont want to count calories, I need to count carbs?... Fri, 24 Oct 2014 14:43:13 EST Hi Everyone! Hi everyone!

My name is Lo, I just joined SP and i'm on my journey to lose 25lbs! Sun, 7 Sep 2014 01:26:11 EST Under eating? I was going to post this on SP community message boards, but realized I would have too many people focus on the fact I am paleo instead of my actual issue. So I figure it would be better to turn to my other paleo eaters. Since I know its not what I am eating but how much.
I have been under eating without realizing it. I am 20/80 paleo and eat mainly nuts, meat (no pork) and lots of veggies and fruit. I do eat yogurt specifically for the cultures. Been paleo off and on for over 2 year... Mon, 1 Sep 2014 22:23:38 EST September Shades of Paleo Nutrition Challenge! Hi, everyone!

September is one of those months where SparkPeople typically sees an influx of new members, as do most teams. I thought, perhaps, a Paleo nutrition Challenge might be helpful to us paleo veterans (new ideas, fresh outlook), and encouraging to those who are just starting out (of late, I've noticed a number of newbies making similar mistakes and being disappointed with their results... the biggest being trying to re-invent the wheel without really understanding the natu... I want to start off slow but hope to be as close to strict paleo as I can for my health. Hope to get support and ideas! Wed, 9 Jul 2014 20:52:12 EST Rice sensitivity? I've read on a lot of different blogs that rice is on the fence of paleo or non and depends on if you have an allergy. I'm wondering if anyone is sensitive to rice what symptoms you experience. I had lost some weight last week and was down to 210 and I had some rice with dinner one night and woke up 214. I know I didn't gain 4 lbs over night, but it still took me all week to get back to 210. So maybe some bloating? IDK. But I'm thinking its the rice, because this weekend I stayed away from ri... Sat, 5 Jul 2014 19:46:28 EST Oops, posted to wrong place-- Hi there, Paleo people. I'm Christina. I've been doing paleo with my husband for about six months now, but have kind of "fallen off the wagon" lately, following a family reunion and then a month long warranty repair on the refrigerator that left us eating takeout and S.A.D. pantry foods. I just joined the team with the hope of reigniting my enthusiasm! BTW, I've lost about 10-15 pounds from changing my diet. Need to lose about 70 more. Mon, 30 Jun 2014 21:39:34 EST Hello. I posted in the wrong place the first time. Hi everyone,
I just realized that I posted my "intro" on the wrong message board so here it is again. I'm 45 and went total paleo back in 2011 and maintained it for over two years, then crossed into "mostly paleo" for around 8 months. The last 3-4 months have seen various pledges to "start clean again on Monday" only to "dirty things up" by the end of the week. Fri, 25 Oct 2013 18:27:48 EST Introduction Hi I am Candice Schaefer. I have PCOS and am attempting to see how a Paleo lifestyle helps with losing weight. Because people with PCOS usually have trouble with glucose, similar to a type 2 diabetic, it is a good idea for them to eat less carbohydrates than the average person. My doctor had reccomended the South Beach Diet, which I had tried before, but did not really trust. I lost weight really fast with South Beach, but once carbs were introduced back into the picture the weight loss came ... Sat, 30 Mar 2013 11:31:40 EST So many variations! What is your version of paleo? While researching the paleo way of eating, I ran across so many different variations that my head was spinning and I almost gave up! Some say just cut out the wheat. Others say no potatoes, rice, or other whole grains. Some say potatoes are a no-no while others say they are OK. Same for tomatoes. One book says to eat cheese and the next one says "no dairy!".
