Sun, 23 Jul 2017 22:31:04 EST Lost 100 pounds using water exercise? Hi everyone

We have a reporter looking to interview a member who has lost 100 pounds and incorporated water workouts into their exercise plan. If you or someone you know fits the description, can you send me a SparkMail?

Thanks!

Coach Jen Tue, 23 May 2017 19:08:43 EST What's your favorite workout music? My class's hands-down favorite is a '50s rock n roll playlist I put together--"Rock Around the Clock", "Blue Suede Shoes", "The Twist", "Ooby Dooby", etc. It's so upbeat and easy to move to. Even class members too young to remember these tunes as anything but oldies like bopping to the beat.

What do you like? Sat, 25 Mar 2017 12:16:00 EST New Year, New Ambition? I hate the word "resolution", but a new year does seem like a good time to look life over and decide to do something better at this new beginning. What are you new or renewed ambitions for 2017? One of mine is to do my darndest to get those 5 fruits and veggies in every day. Another is to clear out and organize all the stuff in the spare room.

What are you determined to do with this bright shiny new year? Sun, 1 Jan 2017 14:04:51 EST Matthew Will wading through Matthew count as water exercise? It's about mid-calf at the bottom of my porch steps this morning. I live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, so we're not having some of the more threatening aspects of Matthew--just lots of rain and some winds--not more than we usually get from a Nor'easter. Sun, 9 Oct 2016 06:05:10 EST Outdoors in the Summer? It's high summer in the northern hemisphere--anybody getting their water exercise in the great outdoors these days? Lakes? Oceans? Rivers? Foam noodles are probably the cheapest, most versatile water workout equipment available. How do you use one? Please share and give your fellow Team members some new ideas!

I make a noodle into a whole bunch of different bicycles. Cruiser bike: sitting astride and pedaling legs. My doctor told me to start water exercises. He told me not to do any walking on land until my pain goes away which has not yet. I have been on short-term disability from work since January but returning to work on Monday with much less improvement that I had wished for. I was taking water classes that are offered at the Rec center near my house but they are only offered during the day. When I return to work next week, I am going to the poo... Sat, 5 Mar 2016 17:21:29 EST Newbies It's January, and that has meant a lot of new people in my classes and at the gym in general. Are you a newbie? How do you like water aerobics so far? Sun, 31 Jan 2016 12:27:20 EST Any Special Holiday Workout Music? At this time of year, I don't like to overdo the holiday music; it can quickly get boring, banal, and overdone. I like it too much to let that happen. I only use it for a class' last session before Christmas.

I also try to keep my playlists to the more secular tunes. For one thing, Christmas is not everyone's winter holiday (although most of us seem to have one--we need it!) Does your class do any special exercises or work out to holiday music at this time of year? I did a "12 Days of Fitness" song with my class yesterday, and we barely got through it for laughing, "On the first day of fitness, my teacher gave to me a partridge stretching its back. On the second day of fitness, my teacher gave to me two turtle kicks and a partridge...etc etc." Sun, 13 Dec 2015 12:23:32 EST Anybody for Aqua Tabata? I'm thinking of changing the format of one of my classes from a regular deep-and-shallow water aerobics class to a high intensity interval Tabata class. (A Tabata is 8 cycles of 20 seconds intense activity, 10 seconds recovery.)

I'd love to hear from anyone who's done aqua Tabata. What was good about it? What was not-so-good? Sun, 8 Nov 2015 12:06:38 EST Does daylight affect your workouts? Here in the northern hemisphere, we've just gone off daylight time, and the increased shortness of daylight has become even more apparent. The lucky southern hemisphericans are getting longer days. Does the amount of daylight affect your interest and ability to go to the pool and exercise? Does it affect the type of workout (more/less outdoor swimming and walking, more/less indoor pool and gym time)? Sun, 8 Nov 2015 11:55:38 EST Are You an Early Bird or a Late Bloomer? What's your favorite time of day for exercise? Like to get up & at 'em first thing in the morning? Or do you revel in the relaxation after closing your day with activity?

When I had a business, I liked to work out at 6 am because nothing but my own laziness could get in the way of doing it. After I wound up the business, I found that any time of day was good, depending on what was on the rest of my schedule.

How about you? Sun, 13 Sep 2015 11:07:22 EST New to Team I discovered water aerobics in July 2015 and I love it. 237 Going to the local Boys & Girls club, but will switch it up to go to a local Technical High School this fall because the Boys & Girls Club does not offer classes in the evening this fall. The class at the Tech is a deep water class, which I do not have much experience with, but I'm looking forward to a new challenge. My goal is to go 3 times each week. Tue, 25 Aug 2015 11:54:07 EST Name of HIT aqua class I went to an Aqua Challenge class a couple weeks ago that was quite intense. The instructor (who I'm sure is certifiably nuts 100 ) did a sequence of specific moves each one for 8 seconds as hard as possible with a brief rest between before repeating. Each exercise was repeated 8 times (I think) and then on to the next. Seems like many pools take some time between the end of daycamp/summerswimlessons and the start of the school year to close for annual maintenance. This is happening big time for me this year when one of my pools closes for 2 weeks and the other will be down for at least 2 months while the entire sports center is renewed and rebuilt.

Does this happen at your pool? I have no idea whether he has any rescue skills, but can't help thinking that by the time help arrives the situation or person could be much worse.

My other pool never has lifeguards on duty during my classes. My main tool for doing this is water aerobics. I am, in no way exaggerating, a water baby. I love the water. I grew up on Lake Superior, my families ancestry is fisherman and lighthouse keepers, and because of this, water has a very soothing effect on me. It doesn't matter if it's fresh water, salt water or chlorine treated water. I will be the first one in, and the last one out. So, my plan to lose weight is going to... In this class we don't use any equipment, noodles, hand bars, etc. They do some suspended moves. Does anyone have some good ideas for tomorrow night's class? Another is to buy cheaper lycra suits, replacing them often and having a different look on a regular basis. I've been on SP for about 2 months now, and it's been a great experience. This has been a nasty summer and I have not been motivated to exercise at all until I forced myself to go to the pool that is located at my school (I'm a high school teacher). Not only did they offer me a great discount, but the stinking thing is literally on the other side of the wall from my own classroom! I've been in a water aerobics class for several years and it's my favorite form of exercise. I love to exercise o... Tue, 9 Aug 2011 15:24:16 EST Hi! I'm new and love the water Hi, I'm Barb

I've been a SP for 2 months and have really been trying to get in my exercise through water aerobics. I'm not in a class but try to water walk or jog and do a good workout in the deep e.g. cross country, kickboxing and anything else I can think to do. I usually work out by myself, but I do have a friend who goes with me on occasion, but basically it's just me. I loved to swim laps, but haven't been able to due to inner ear problems.

I read the posts and it s... Do you do your water exercise in an indoor or an outdoor pool? How does it affect what you do? Here in Alaska, all the pools are indoors--they have to be! To be honest, I have never been a big fan of the swimming-pool cat picture that serves as the icon for this team. I love cats, but I don't feel that cats like to have much to do with water, and the purpose of the team doesn't have much to do with cats. So I have been keeping my eyes open for a good alternative, and I think I have found one. I figured that if I can do sitting down exercises in a chair I could do them in the tub. I even figured out some laying down ones. Like leg lifts. Have any of you done tub exercises? And if you had which ones have you done. If this is a new idea for you lets see how many different ones we can find to do, I could use some new ideas.
