I've been working my current third shift position for 3 years, but I've mostly worked PRN and nightshifts for the last 10 years. Now I'm happy to say it's a full time and the hours are consistent. I've been over weight ever since I can remember. I look forward to the support system and tips I know a lot of us night owls have to struggle with. My primary concern is that I still have a hard time getting into a routine. As for now it's off to work. Sun, 29 Jan 2012 11:12:17 EST How do you manage food? Hi All -- I'd love to have a conversation about food. One of the good things for me about working nights is that there's no fast food open around me, so I have to pack for the night before I leave the house. My "lunch" meal is often leftovers from dinner at home, but I have to be careful to weigh my portions since it's so easy to go overboard with things we like for dinner like Mac & cheese.

One of my goals is to make sure I'm getting 5 services of veggies every day. Sat, 21 Jan 2012 09:13:10 EST trouble switching back into day mode Hi there. I take to nights like a fish takes to water. The trouble is that after a couple night shifts, I have a terrible time sleeping at night when I am at home and not booked, or worse yet, having to go onto day shift with a short turnaround. Even if I am tired in the early evening, I seem to get a "second wind" at bedtime and can't get to sleep, or I sleep a couple of hours, then I am wide awake by 2 am. What do you do to help switch back into a more "normal" routine. What makes this... Wed, 12 Oct 2011 16:43:07 EST Share your tips for staying awake at night I have a very sedentary job. Basically after my patient has fallen asleep I have to stay in front of the computer and monitor, observe, take notes and only intervene when necessary (I work in a sleep lab). After a while I tend to get really sleepy. My tips for staying awake: stay busy! For those of you following WW, counting strict calories, ect (which I suspect is almost everyone), when do you start your 'day'. So far, I'm finding it pretty helpful. I used to compete in figure skating and was in very good shape, but after I quit I started gaining weight (nobody tells you that you need to make nutritional changes and keep up with exercising and at 17, I didn't know better). Then came University, and living with my ex where I started to eat th... Mon, 27 Sep 2010 18:56:14 EST New mom trying to get back into shape Hello everyone, I'm April. I have struggled my whole life with weight issues even went bolemic for 6 years and got down to a zero for a while. Although I live in a place where everyone is fitness minded, I don't get alot of support from my husband. Instead I get compared to his ex wife (who is 6' and a 6... I had fun and did some pretty exciting things. Rafting, parasailing, swimming. I am still able to do everything but I have to carry around seventy extra pounds while doing so.
