I've been suffering from fatigue, joint pain, muscle weakness, after a year of going to different doctors and testing I have been diagnosed with Hashimotos. I'm determined to stay healthy and lose my extra weight. I know it's going to be hard. Looking for some motivation and help with my goals. Thank you! :)) Wed, 5 Sep 2012 12:42:59 EST Teri Davis Looking for help losing some weight, I have been a member for two years, just not done anything about it yet!! Hi to my favorite team! What's everybody else doing for the new month for challenges? I've bumped my cardio minutes and want to do a 25% gain in weights for strength training. That'll be tough, I haven't done much weights for the last year. Any prepping for hitting the new year on a fast start? Sat, 3 Dec 2011 15:00:46 EST Introduction Hello everyone,
This is my first message on Sparkspeople. I have never really utilized my sparks page and I joined it last year. I am hoping to reach my weight goal in the next 12 months and meet some encouraging people along the way. My weight is affecting my health both physically and emotionally and no diet that I try seems to work for my lifestyle. I am married with 3 children, 2 of which are adults now. Fri, 2 Dec 2011 01:42:43 EST Personal Update 2009 - now Hi all- Nov. 2009, whew. that was a different person. That was ten years from playing competitive sports where I was 192 and a body fat percentage below the 'teens. I had reached 246 and 33% body fat, high blood pressure, high resting heart beat and had just come from an osteo surgeon who wanted to replace my hip ASAP. A deep funk ensued. I wasn't ready for the surgery, I thought I was too much of a physical mess to handle it. I still had all my old exercise equipment, gathering dust, from my... I have been a member for not very long but have just now started the weight loss. Getting the feel of everything about me.

Let me start by saying this, I am a survivor of stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer, currently in remission. So things have been hard on me as of late. Now it is time to get my life back in order and with luck back down to 150 pounds.

So here's to a great start with great people!

Shell Sun, 26 Apr 2009 11:55:00 EST First run! I'm doing okay with staying on my weight loss plan (I hate the word "diet", starts with "DIE" after all), but I just don't feel like doing anything. I flaked out on exercising today, munched dinner out of the fridge (totally unsatisfying). I felt like this yesterday too, only I did make myself do some strength training and ate a decent dinner. I've lost 8.5 lbs so far, which is great, but I find myself starting not to car... Thu, 16 Apr 2009 21:04:24 EST Would you rather.... I've never worked in a place that made such a big deal out of birthdays! And to add to it, today also happened to be our monthly company luncheon. Tue, 7 Apr 2009 13:49:42 EST Lunch at work tomorrow I hate tracking what I had for lunch at work. Seriously, I can't measure what I have so I have to estimate and it's such a hassle. Up a half pound I know it's normal to fluctuate, and a half pound is really nothing. But still, I ate (or thought I ate) right over the weekend and got all my exercise, so it's a little discouraging to see any gain. I'm really trying hard to lose at least 20 lbs before a wedding I'm traveling to at the end of May. This doesn't help.

Well, I guess there's nothing to do but get right back up on the horse. Today is a new day, right?? Mon, 6 Apr 2009 07:30:57 EST Spring Cleaning-not just for the house? Wed, 1 Apr 2009 08:19:12 EST Cardio Pumping Playlist Hi All!

I need to spice up my workout so I am looking for some really cardio pumping tunes to download. What are your ultimate favorites?
Tue, 31 Mar 2009 09:13:45 EST Negative self-talk: any suggestions?? I need some help, ya'll. I am horrible about negative self-talk. I think I actually create a huge obstacle for myself just by the way I think but I can't seem to get out of the mindset of it all!

For example, if I make a mistake at work, my first thought is, "Duh, Me." or I'll call myself an idiot. It goes all the way from there to the other end of the line where I criticize myself constantly. I do have depression (and am on meds for it), so I'm thinking this might be part of... Thu, 26 Mar 2009 13:51:30 EST Newbie Questions Well I finally figured out how to do my Spark Page, and the most important thing I learned "SAVE EVERYTHING". Don't go back to other pages without saving or you have to start all over. I have a couple of questions: (1) Do I need to sign in to each Spark Team I'm on everyday. (2) Since I can't upload pictures how do I find where I can access Spark pictures to use on my page and blogs. There is so much to read and I've been averaging 50+ msgs a day to read and I'm falling behind in everyt... Tue, 24 Mar 2009 15:00:13 EST It's hard to go it alone Hi everyone.
I sometimes find it hard to stay motivated. Is there anyone who wants a SparkBuddy that doesn't have one yet? It would be great to have someone going through the same things that I am, and we all started around the same time, so that is one thing we have in common. Let me know if you want to be a buddy! and we can use this thread to let others know that you would like a buddy, too.

Katy
Tue, 24 Mar 2009 13:48:28 EST Over 17,000 joined in one week? Jeepers, this site is huge! At first, I was skeptical of it being free because I'd been paying WeightWatchers Online $15 per month for the same service. In fact, Spark even has more than Weightwatchers! I just discovered the nutrition analysis feature and was amazed at the detailed breakdown it provided, combined with specific suggestions. If you haven't explored the nutritional tracker, that's where it can be found.

I'm also really getting into the blogs. Please feel free t... What to do, what to do.... So, I made the decision to join SparkPeople and really start trying hard to get healthy. I need to, I have to. My doctor recently told me that it's only a matter of when now, not if, I have a heart attack or stroke. My blood pressure is bad, so is my cholesterol. I'm tired all the time and constantly getting sick and I am getting bigger and bigger. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired--and embarrassed of my size. So, I joined Spark People.

Here is where I get frustrated. I f... Now that we are at March 22, those of us who joined on the 15th officially have a week under our belts, and everyone else will soon, too.
How did your week 1 go? I did ok on cardio, but not so much on strength training. I did not go over on my calories, carbs, fat, or protein, but there were days I was under.
Overall I lost 1 pound, which I will admit is kind of disappointing. I know that slow and steady wins the race and all, but I was kind of hoping for a 2-3 pound bump to start ... Sun, 22 Mar 2009 15:58:56 EST Hi All My name is Linda, and I love the Forum icon. I am supposed to be eating 1600 calories a day, and just recently realized that I am eating anywhere 1000-1500 a day plus burning 400 a day- five times a week. SO, I am guessing this is why I cannot lose weight.

I am on weight watchers, I KNOW IT WORKS, and am eating all my points- so now what?
