SparkPeople SP Class of October 26- November 1, 2008 Team Messageboard 2011 September Resolutions Well, here it is again, the start a new month and new resolutions. I still have problems staying at the low end of my calories, especially on cardio days. Gotta keep working on that. DH and I will also be riding some trails in October, so gotta get more time on my mountain bike. So, for September I will continue to work on my nutrition and ride my mountain bike 4 days a week. Wed, 31 Aug 2011 23:58:18 EST 2011 August Resolutions Well, I must admit. I started my July resolutions and did so very well for 2 weeks, then just sort of slipped away. For August I MUST start doing better with my nutrition. That is my goal, again. Sun, 31 Jul 2011 21:02:25 EST I've only been side-tracked!!!!! Lets startover again ~~~ everyday is an excellent time to regroup and renew life's purposes. To our best health!
Mz. Mena Smile Sun, 24 Apr 2011 14:09:40 EST 2011 April Resolutions Here we are at the start of another month. I must admit I did reaaaalllly bad with my March resolutions. So I think for April I will continue to try and work on my strength training. Eventually I will be able to get it in. Thu, 31 Mar 2011 21:21:01 EST 2011 March Resolutions I can't believe how fast the year is passing by. Here it is March already, and spring is just around the corner. I have done pretty well with my Feb resolutions and I must say it was easier than I thought. I didn't always get 30 minutes of exercise everyday, but did get some everyday.

For March my resolution will be to get strength training in 3 days a week, and ride 200 miles. Spring is coming, time to tone those arms and thighs folks. Mon, 28 Feb 2011 23:36:54 EST 2011 Feb Resolutions Hard to believe it is Feb already. This year is really flying by. We had a beautiful week last week and I enjoyed getting out and riding my bike 3 days. Do hope that continues into Feb.

Here are my resolutions for Feb:

Exercise 30 minutes everyday.
Ride 150 miles
Walk/hike 30 miles

Remember, these are just for Feb, you can do anything for 28 days.
Mon, 31 Jan 2011 09:07:05 EST 2011 January Resolutions I'm sure we have all been looking at ourselves and setting our goals for 2011. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!

My January Resolution is to stay with in my calorie range and record all my food. I have been slack about that lately and it really is important.

Anyone else care to share your resolutions?

Fri, 31 Dec 2010 22:52:51 EST Good by 2010, Hello 2011 and long range goals I have spent some time going over my year, good and bad. And I must say, God has been good. He has helped me through the bad times and turned them around. Life is good.

For 2011 I have set some personal long range goals:

1. Get my house re-organized (DD has moved things back in) and clear out the last of MIL's things

2. Lose the weight I have gained since MIL got ill and finally reach my goal

3. Bike 200 miles per month

4. Walk/hi... Fri, 31 Dec 2010 10:05:21 EST Weekend Plans Does anyone have special plans for this last weekend before Christmas? Fri, 17 Dec 2010 09:51:57 EST Class Reunion I think it is time for us to have a nice class reunion and catch up on what we have accomplished in the past 2 years.

I am down 40 pounds and am much more mobile. I still have 20 to go, but those will come.
Sun, 5 Dec 2010 20:06:29 EST 2010 December Resolutions WooHoo. I did well in November. Stayed on my nutrition program (except Thanksgiving Day) and got my exercise in almost every day. I did miss some of my work days. It is hard to work it in when you end up working 14 hours.

Now, for December. I am going to keep up my strict nutrition going, get my 30 minutes of exercise daily, and get at least an hour of family time every day. No TV, no computer, no video games, no cell phones. Just time re-connecting with each other.
<... Thu, 2 Dec 2010 15:31:54 EST New to Sparkpeople (33 lbs to Lose) I want to lose 33 lbs by next April. Basically I have no event that is prompting me to lose this. I guess I am just sick and tired of always on the "diet" game. I want to make a lifestyle change that is maintainable and easy to stick to. Knowing is not enough. I think the biggest thing for me is to maintain motivation. Wed, 10 Nov 2010 13:07:25 EST 2010 November Resolutions I hope everyone did well with their October resolutions. Can you believe Thanksgiving is almost here? This is the hardest time of year for most of us. It is getting cooler, we exercise less, and seek out our comfort foods to warm us up.

My November resolutions will be to continue my strict nutritional tracking, make sure I get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. I really need to concentrate on increasing my strength training.

Ok, fess up. Where are you needin... Mon, 1 Nov 2010 09:35:35 EST 2010 October Resolutions I am so sorry I let the resolutions fall by the wayside. Sometimes life just gets sidetracked. It is time for me to get back in the swing of things, so I am starting October a bit early. The holiday eating season will be here before we realize it. Now is the time to prepare.

My October Resolution is to stick strictly to my nutritional guidelines. DH and I have a 7 day trip planned the first week of October, that will be a real challenge.

Come on everyone, let's ge... Thu, 23 Sep 2010 02:08:35 EST 2010 June Resolutions Here it is, almost the middle of the year. My how time flies. I did pretty well with my May Resolution. Didn't get the entire house organized, but did get 2 rooms a week, which was my goal. With the weather getting warmer (well, for most of us anyway) I am in the mood to do something outside. My goal for June will be to get 30 minutes of cardio outside every day I don't work. This will be in addition to yard work, which is work, but not very cardio for me. I am also going to have to ge... Tue, 1 Jun 2010 13:12:01 EST 2010 May Resolutions Here it is once again. The start of a new month and time for new resolutions. I have begun the deep cleaning of my house that I "plan" to do every year. My resolution for May is to actually finish it.

For my resolution, I will do at least 2 rooms every week, closets, drawers, under furniture, get those things tossed that I really don't need any more. The Civitan's are having a yard sale May 22nd and have a storage room to keep the things in, how perfect for getting rid of eve... Fri, 30 Apr 2010 10:07:56 EST HI. Mon, 12 Apr 2010 23:11:11 EST 2010 March Resolutions Can you believe it is March already. It will be spring before we know it. I hope everyone did well with their Feb Resolutions, now it is time to start thinking about spring. I really need to start tightening up all those muscles that have not been used much this winter.

For March I will do my strength training at least 3 days a week, and walk 2 miles every day.

Come on everyone, let's get ready for those swimsuits. Bev Mon, 11 Jan 2010 16:37:44 EST My 2010 "Big Picture" goals A post on another forum about walking 500 miles got me thinking (not always a good thing). While we are making our monthly resolutions, perhaps we should have a Big Picture of where we would like to accomplish by the the end of the year.

Here is my "big picture" so far:

Cycle 2000 miles (37 per week)
Walk 540 miles (10 per week)
Lose 20 pounds by June and maintain
Finish painting my house
Decorate the living/dining room
Master my new mid-arm and ... Once again I resolve not to make yearly resolutions, but rather will continue to make my monthly ones. I find them much easier to remember and stick with.

My January 2010 resolution will be to do strength training 3 days a week (more when possible). I will also continue with my cardio for 30 minutes daily. There it is in writing.

Who will care to join me?
Thu, 31 Dec 2009 19:05:34 EST Short Term Goals Towards the end of every month someone starts a new topic with the question, “What are your goals for next month?” We all respond to the post, some of us have goals and some of us are pondering what direction we want to move in during the upcoming month. I’ve done both … some months I’ve had a noble response and some months I’ve had nothing to offer. It's good to set short term goals, just be sure you are staying on track. If you just say your goal is to be a healthy BMI, or to be under ... Mon, 28 Dec 2009 20:53:13 EST December Resolutions Here it is the beginning of December and time to make our last resolutions of the year. My December resolution will be to stay within my calorie range every day. It will be difficult and require planning, but I will do it.

Tue, 1 Dec 2009 22:03:48 EST Happy Thanksgiving Happy Thanksgiving my friends. May you have a great day and safe travels. Wed, 25 Nov 2009 17:17:27 EST November Resolutions We are so very rapidly approaching the end of the year. I know we are all getting busy preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we should not forget our exercise. This month I will continue to keep within my nutrition guidelines, and also get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Sat, 31 Oct 2009 18:59:25 EST H1N1 Prevention Tips I copied this from another team. Wed, 28 Oct 2009 22:43:58 EST Happy Anniversary! Happy 503 ! There hasn't been much activity on this team lately, which is really pretty typical of Spark Classes. A Spark Class gives new "Sparkers" a starting point when they first join Spark People but as time goes on and they find other teams and friends with whom they have more in common than a starting date posting in the original class seems to fall off while posting in the other teams picks up. Then of course there are those who don't stick with Spark People and aren't pos... Mon, 26 Oct 2009 14:17:09 EST October Resolutions We are rapidly approaching the end of the year and that means the toughest holidays are almost here. For my October Resolution I will stay within my calorie recommendations. Even on days I exercise and can eat a bit extra. Thu, 1 Oct 2009 00:04:20 EST September Resolutions Well, here it is, the last day of August. School is starting back, football has started, and the holidays will be here before you know it. For September I am going to increase my exercise. I will continue to get my 30 minutes cardio every day, with 1 hour 3 days a week. I will also get strength training 3 days a week. I have really been lax on my strength work and need to get back to it. Mon, 31 Aug 2009 21:39:22 EST August Resolutions Can you believe it is August already. I hope everyone is doing better with the monthly resolutions than we usually do with New Years resolutions.

For August I will ride my new bike 20 miles a week, in addition to the miles we get on the tandem.

Ok, come on everyone, make those resolutions. Fri, 31 Jul 2009 08:53:17 EST angelapinon I am angela, 34 years old, and need to lose about 70 pounds. Fri, 10 Jul 2009 10:10:58 EST July Resolutions We have completed half the year now, hope everyone is doing well so far. I think I did well with my June resolutions, didn't get much feed back so can't say for certain, but I did try.

For July I think I will continue my 30 minutes of exercise daily and add 30 minutes of ME time. My MIL is requiring more care and I have discovered how important ME time is. Even if it is just a long bubble bath or some time in the hammock after a bike ride, I will have some me time daily.
Wed, 1 Jul 2009 23:33:16 EST Happy Birthday MissZ Happy Birthday MissZ, glad you had a great party, enjoy your day.

410 Tue, 9 Jun 2009 11:55:38 EST June resolutions It is that time again, lets plan our June resolutions. I have taken stock of my first five and am doing well at keeping them so far. My June resolution is not going to be about me I am resolving to do something to help someone daily. It may not be anything large, perhaps just help problem solve, or some encouragement.

Remember, it takes 3 weeks to form a good habit. These resolutions are only for one month, after that they should be habits and easier to maintain. Wed, 22 Apr 2009 19:29:15 EST April resolutions Here it is, the first day of a new month. Time for another resolution. I must admit I did not do well with my March (stretching every day). I stretched, but not as much as I would have liked to. I think I need to work on this one for another month.

Remember, this is not a team challenge. Instead of a bunch of new years resolution, we are making one monthly resolution. I think they are much manageable.

Wed, 1 Apr 2009 16:33:16 EST Easy sweet tooth stomper What do you do when the sweet tooth attacks?
I stomp it out with one of the following.
Sugar free jello cups 10 cal.
Sugar free fat free pudding snack cups 40 cal
Fiber One sugar free yogurt snack cups 35 cal.
Sugar free fudge or fruit popsicle 35 cal Fri, 27 Mar 2009 17:44:36 EST March resolutions Here it is the end of February already. His funeral will be this coming Wednesday. I know I haven't been around in a very long time, but my time and energy has been focused on taking care of him. I will eventually get back on my weight loss plan. I know I need to do that for me and it is something that I know he would want me to do. He was so proud of me and how great I was doing. Right now, though, I need to grieve and start to heal from the loss of the love of my life.

Lor... Sat, 7 Feb 2009 22:09:58 EST Here we go again! Ok, after the begining of January and our -40 snap I've decided, now that it's Febuary, January is over and now I have to get back on track! My treadmill died but I have another one coming to me (theoretically) and I'm getting back on my drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. I have my empty juice jug and am on my way. I'm terrible at letting a little setback (like lack of treadmill and cold temps) totally throw me off course. Luckly I'm young and have time to make some mistakes before I... Sun, 1 Feb 2009 12:06:14 EST February Resolutions OK, we have worked on our January Resolutions for a month now. I hope everyone has been able to keep them. Now it is time to add our February Resolutions to the list.

For February I am going to do at least 20 minutes of exercise daily. I will alternate strength on even days and cardio on odd days. This one will be tougher than my eating habits were for January.

Sat, 31 Jan 2009 23:31:52 EST Ten weeks later - still active on the site? Not in front of the TV, not while I cook, not as I pass thru the kitchen. Even snacks are placed on a plate and eaten with determination. I eat 5-6 times a day, small meals and snacks, so I eat about every 2-3 hours. It is much easier to tell myself to just wait, you get to sit down and eat in xx minutes.

Lets hear so... Sun, 4 Jan 2009 10:16:17 EST goals Hi - the new year is coming up and I would like to get back on track. I have few goals but two of those that I would like to work on first - find the motivation again and find a buddy in spark team. So I am open to any suggestion on how to find the motivation again. Also do you have any idea on how to find a buddy in this team? I know no one in this team so I am not sure on how to ask someone to be a buddy that I could talk or discussion with. Would anyone like to suggest a team challenge for the month of January? It can be anything you want. It doesn't necessarily have to be related to weight loss. One of my teams did a positive affirmation challenge for a month. We each had to think of something nice to say about ourselves every day. Sometimes we just don't give ourselves credit for the positive things we do, and that challenge made each of us look for the those positives in ourselves.... With all the parties and other holiday festivities coming up, I thought it would be helpful and fun to have a Holiday Team Challenge. It would help to keep us motivated to stay on track with our weight loss and fitness goals.

The members who are interested could be divided into different teams. It could either be teams of two or larger. The challenge could be which teams lost the most total weight, the time spent in exercising, and/or how often they posted their nutrition tracker.... Well it's shaping up to be a good day in this part of the world. It's my Monday and I'm on Morning shift finally! I decided to get up an extra half hour early so I could get on my treadmill and help wake myself up before work. Despite only 5 hours of sleep, it worked out well. Got my shower, came to work, weighed in (Holding steady at 166) and ate an apple, now I'm just chillin waiting for the flights to come and go. He has me doing strength training on my wrist and shoulder, especially the wrist since I have carpal tunnel. He also had me on the exercise bike to burn calories and recommends to add a minute or two every time I use it. I was there about 45 minutes and, depending on how I feel tomorrow, I might go in again. I have a two week trial membership, so I do want to take advantage of that so that I can get a better feel for the equipment. But, ... After this week, I am inclined to DISagree with that statement.

The hardest part of this week wasn't in learning to do things in a new way. Mon, 3 Nov 2008 12:24:24 EST Hello Just a note to say hi, I've just rejoined Spark and have been reading many of the posts here. What a great place to be! I've had weight issues my entire life and am a veteran of the yo-yo diet wars, but have determined to get down to 145 pounds and keep it there for life. This will happen -- and I'm depending on my friends from Spark to help me reach this goal! I'm always happy to meet new people and would be glad to talk with any for mutual support. I am so tired of feeling frumpy and not being able to keep up with my kids. My mom and I quit smoking 17 months ago and now we have both joined the gym togeather as a way to keep up the motivation, after all misery loves company lol. This looks like a great place to get all sorts of information and talk with others who are like minded. Mon, 3 Nov 2008 00:09:08 EST Just wanted to introduce myself! Hello all, Not new to SP, signed on in April but lost my way in July. Seems like I've been loosing and putting on about 4 pounds since July. Working out isn't my issue, my food choices must be it. I tend to go for convenience foods and living on a budget, fresh healthier foods aren't always an option. I am nearing my goal, about 75% there and I seem to need help more than ever. Sun, 2 Nov 2008 18:44:23 EST New to this team I am guessing that when you join spark people they automatically start you in a team where everyone started that week? That seems like an excellent idea that way you meet new people who are new to this site too. LOL
glad to meet everyone. I have found this place interesting..although time consuming because there is so much information. Jane Sun, 2 Nov 2008 17:47:30 EST Newbie here! Hello everyone! I just found this site tonight and thought I would give it a shot. I'm not sure what to expect from here, but I really need to get some motivation. I don't have any excuse to not exercise, I just don't do it. I'm hoping this will be a turning point for me. Sat, 1 Nov 2008 22:08:21 EST Allo I've been on spark once before but I never really got into the flow on the site. I've lost 80 pounds ( over one year... that was two years ago) and put back on 20 pounds... I started with weight watchers and then I become obessed. I know that I need to make a concentrated effort on changing my habits but as I try to shake the old ones the problem becomes finding new ones that are healthy and work for me. I would be grateful for tips anyone has on staying motivated while I try to adjust into a... I'll need a little time to get everything set up and learn all about SP, so bear with me. Thu, 30 Oct 2008 05:11:05 EST Rough Night Last Night For some reason I couldn't sleep last night. I went to bed and tossed and turned, so around 5:30 I got up, took 2 Tylenol PMs and played games on computer hoping that would help. Solitaire usually makes me start to nod off. It was after 7:00 until I got to bed, so of course, I overslept. I know it's really going to mess up my weight loss for the rest of the week! Wed, 29 Oct 2008 19:22:31 EST Today's the day!
