This appointment was scheduled back in March so I was really excited to meet with him. We discussed surgery to remove about 80% of my thyroid and he said that I was in a position where it would be a good idea and he could do it. I have a tentative date to have the surgery on December 18th. I'm excited but kinda nervous at the same time. I've never been in the hospital for myself before and I've never had any type of surgery. I've been on SP for a couple years now but I just joined this team. I recently was diagnosed with Grave's Disease. I feel relieved because it explains a lot of symptoms I've had for a long time. I was also very shocked and upset at first, because it's scary to have a medical condition! Anyway, I'd love to be in touch with other people with the same issues, so drop me a line!

213 Mon, 22 Jun 2009 10:21:49 EST Hello!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x26179x26159447 Hello all! I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease in Dec-Jan. I had been doing well on SP and I guess I used GD as an excuse to quit.

Then, I had the side effect of cramps off of the Methimoz-whatever I still can't spell it! Making it impossible to do any repetative motions.

Now, my last bloodwork showed me going into remission, with all levels pretty even and I'm only on on Methi-whatever a day. The cramps are basically gone so I'm getting my fat butt back on track.
... Mon, 8 Jun 2009 12:10:31 EST Hello! Hyperthyroidism/Li festyle/Diet/Ex??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x26179x25234302 Hello,
I was diagnosed with "subclinical" hyperthyroidism, my TSH keeps going up and down but is low for the most part; my endocrinologist says he is going to test me monthly; last month I was supposed to start the methozole but then he called me and said my numbers were normal that day. Not even being on the meds I have gained 10+ lbs over the last year unexplained. I exercise religiously, eat a low fat, low cal diet already; I am doing this site to kind of track my numbers so I can see... Sun, 3 May 2009 13:04:58 EST Hi everyone... http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x26179x24985092 Hi, first of all I would like to introduce myself, my name is Kealani, and I was born and raised in Hawaii, I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in 1994, at the time I didn't know what was going on with me, all I did know was that I was losing weight at an alarming rate. I thought it was due to me working out everyday for about 3 hours a day and sometimes more, but when I got sick and went to the doctors and they told me that I had this disease I was so afraid because of the name of it. I had ... Since my boyfriend was recently diagnosed with Celiacs (he is otherwise healthy) I have been studying up on it quite a bit to figure out what I can cook for him, and have found a lot of info and some studies that find a high correlation between Celiacs and thyroid conditions. It is unclear which causes which and they don't both happen 100% of the time. Also other things like allergies seem... Mon, 26 Jan 2009 12:24:21 EST introduction http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x26179x19438097 I've just joined Spark and was relieved to see a team that is aware of the effects our graves disease has on our weight, etc. I was diagnosed 16 years ago, treated with RAI which threw me into hypo thyroidism and constant weight issues. I'm here to loose weight. Already started with a 14 pound loss three weeks ago which puts me at my start weight with Spark. I'm fighting to keep this off and loose an extra 30 or so.
