I was surfing around for a new team and this one seems perfect because I've been trying to do more workouts after work (as opposed to morning) and that hasn't been going so well for me. I need some supporters to cheer me on and challenge me, so this seems like the right place to be. A little about me: I've been a SP member for several years, but I never really got very far because I always put exercise above diet--and at my age (55), that just wasn't working! So back in September, I got M... Wed, 29 Jan 2014 00:12:41 EST Just started yesterday! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x2609x56533388 Hi I'm Gail. I am a night shift ER nurse. I work 12 hour shifts. Sometimes, or a lot of times, I become "unbalanced" with day vs. night. I feel much better when I go to the gym after work and at least do a 30-40 min walk, or water aerobics. Once I am there and get going I am fine. It's the "getting there" mindset that is difficult, especially in this cold, freezing weather. Need motivation. I typically go for a 1.5 to 3 mile run three to four days a week. I'm trying to get ready for a local turkey trot run in November and I thought I'd check out this site and see what they have to offer, maybe meet some good folks along the way. I'm a teacher who has been working out the last part of this summer and I don't want to give it up after I go back to school next week. I joined this group because I plan on working out after school. I'm excited to keep up with all of you! Tue, 9 Aug 2011 11:13:26 EST Hi Everyone http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x2609x43331181 I'm an after work worker outer. I simply can't get my butt out of bed in the am to do any kind of effective exercising. I usually run after work if it's not too hot (my dog prefers this) or I hop on the elliptical. If I don't change right into my work out clothes the minute I get home then it's game over for me for that day. I'm supposed to go out today so now that I know I'm going to have to be accountable I'll be less likely to pick the couch over the running shoes. I thought it would be good to have some others who were working out after work like I have been. It's hard sometimes to get up the will-power/energy to do it, but I've been pretty consistent for the last 2 weeks, and have worked out for 4 days both weeks (well 3 this week, but it will be 4 by tomorrow lol). I really look forward to having some accountability. While side tracked I refound the weight that I had lost and picked up some of its friends along the way. This time I have joined a gym and I go right after work because if I go home, I do not leave home, and home is where the food is - that loves me so much. So far, in 2 weeks I have lost 4 pounds. Gotta keep moving and loosing cause I cannot afford new clothes. <BR> Thu, 5 May 2011 19:30:48 EST Workout Challenge for the month of May http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x2609x41589769 Sorry I'm late with this. <BR> <BR> Basically there are 4 numbers. Sat, 16 Apr 2011 18:10:31 EST New to the Team http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x2609x41200374 I decided to become healthy the first of this year. Not as a New Year's Resolution, but because my health has diminished over the past 3 years. My doctor referred me to the site. I joined the team because I need a little more motivation. Some days I feel like eating everything and who cares if I go to the gym. SO to have some people to sort of report to is motivational. Please keep me on my toes. Right now I am committed to working out 2x during the week after work (and both weekend days for a total of 4x a week). I'm hoping to bump that up in the next few weeks, but it is definitely a new experience for me to be heading to the gym at night. I went last night though and slept like a baby so I'm excited! Wed, 16 Mar 2011 14:48:36 EST Do you need music to work out to? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x2609x40426246 Today i did my one hour workout without any music, and i have to say i found it quite hard. I definitely needed the beat of the music especially when i was on the stationery bike. I found it not so bad with strength training. But all in all i reckon that music really helps you to work out that little bit harder. <BR> What do you think?
