SparkPeople Mormon Mommies Team Messageboard A group of LDS women trying to lose weight and become healthier. SparkPeople Mormon Mommies Team Messageboard weight issues I have had problems with food my entire life. and I was gained and lost so many times it is unreal...when I first got on sparks I called myself yo-yo queen because that is who I was.
the last four yrs I had given up on weight lose. I was up to 198 pounds and I would get up take my daughter to school and come home and sleep. I would get up about 1pm and eat but stay on the couch. i would pick my daughter up and be with her. when her dad came home i would cook dinner and eat it and than g... Sun, 10 Apr 2016 15:32:41 EST Back at it! I'm ready to start again. I'm 38 and glad to be here. I was on Spark a few years ago and managed to lose 50+ lbs. I felt great and even ran a couple half marathons. Then I started to get complacent and didn't log in to Spark regularly because I was a "success story." I started graduate school and stopped exercising regularly. I found it was too easy to fall back into old habits, and here I am again obese and winded after climbing 1 flight of stairs. I've logged into SP a couple of times over ... Mon, 8 Feb 2016 10:47:30 EST Anybody there Well I guess I can at least get Spark points for posting somewhere even if no one is there :), Have a great day!
Wed, 19 Feb 2014 18:29:43 EST I don't know how to cook.. Well, I mean I can do the basics... but anything beyond that intimidates me. I'm a single Mom of a two year old living on a remote island where groceries are expensive so I really need to start cooking from scratch more. Can anyone recommend a good web site or cook book for beginners who are only cooking for two? I welcome any pointers or advice! Mon, 8 Jul 2013 00:40:26 EST Just about lost my faith Need help I'll be honest here. I have come to one of the lowest points in my life, full of anger, resentment, and my faith is...questionable. I am a convert. I haven't been to a LDS church jin over a year, despite the fact I have asked my husband two or three times only to hear him say no (because he's embarassed about his weight).

My home went into foreclosure almost a year ago, and I have attempted to take the kids - only twice to a LDS church. The first time was conference, the second ti... Sat, 14 Apr 2012 21:33:01 EST I need some inspiration! Hello Ladies,

It seems like this group is kind of dead. I can't think of a better support group than a bunch of Mormon women. (I can't think of a BUSIER group of women then Mormon Moms). That is probably why this group is dying.

But I thought I'd send out a call for support/inspiration. I just found out I am sensitive to Gluten and also must get off dairy, eggs, and soy for at least 3 months. I am having a hard time finding stuff to feed my family.

I hate me... Tue, 10 Apr 2012 23:48:21 EST Hi from Idaho! I'm not sure if this team is still rolling but it's nice to know there are other busy Mormon Mommies out there. I have 4 kids,9,8,6,3. Keep me busy! Sun, 31 Jul 2011 00:40:58 EST The Still Small Voice Okay Mommies, I know I'm new here (since Tuesday!) but I had to share an experience I had this week.

I have been recently contemplating getting a job. I know it'll be hard to work and go to school and take care of my disabled husband and kids, but I was at a point that my husband's disability just wasn't enough to get us through financially. Even with the help of our Bishop finding us a cheaper place to live, we still struggle. But no jobs ever seemed to be available for a CNA here... It's Spring! and the weather is finally showing a little more friendly of a face in my parts. My Stake is organising a triathlon for Sept. and everyone is training. I'm not sure I would be ready for that.... But I have made the goal to work up to 5 mile of activity a day. I got in a 4 mile walk on Sat. and a 2 mile bike ride today. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get in a combination of the two. What are you doing to SPRING into action this spring? A friend and I recently joined and it's great! I am a 26yr old mother of a 22 month old little boy, my husband and I have been married for four years and my motivation is to loose an extra 23 pounds I'm carrying before we start trying for baby #2. I currently serve on our Enrichment Committee (AKA RS Meeting board?) and love my calling. My family recently relocated to the Minneapolis area from Mesa, AZ and we love it here. Wed, 24 Mar 2010 22:17:12 EST Too much, too fast? Hi gals! I just wanted to get your opinion. I'm not even two weeks into my journey, but I have a question. My first week, I focused only on counting my calories, drinking my water, and making good food choices. I also quit drinking soda completely. No exercise at all. I weighed myself and I dropped an amazing 5 lbs in one week! I'm not complaining, I think its great. But I'm worried that if I stay at this pace for too long, it will not be healthy for me. And I'm worried I'll have sagging skin... Fri, 12 Mar 2010 11:40:01 EST What Are Your Callings? ? I just called to do the ward bulletin. Sat, 2 Jan 2010 11:49:34 EST Kids say the funniest things.... I figure that since this is a Mommy team we could share some of the goofy things that happen in our lives... for example, my six year old announced, "I'm full. Can I have dessert now?" "I thought you were full." "The dinner side of my stomach is full. The dessert side is ready." How can you argue with that? I've found in myself and in a lot of people I know that asking for help is one of the hardest things to do. And it can sometimes be even harder to ask for the Lords help, because we feel we may not deserve it or we feel it's a silly thing to ask for help with. But if getting healthier and losing weight is important to us then it's important to our Heavenly Father.

So this months streak is daily asking our Heavenly Father for help and inspiration in our ... I had a baby boy about 8 months ago and have had a hard time losing the weight (I gained 50 lbs), but after starting Spark People I have lost more weight this year so far than I did all last year. Many people told me I would not get back to what I was before I had my baby, which hurts. I am doing this for me, but a nice side benefit will be to show them who is right!! Fri, 11 Jan 2008 21:03:49 EST Another Newbie saying Hi! Hi, I am Jenn W. a LDS mom in Montana. I have 4 kids and the youngest is 8 months, so I really need to get those baby pounds off. Wed, 9 Jan 2008 19:26:03 EST ~ * Please Read * ~ I want to keep the topics as neat and clean as possible so I'm asking that no one posts a challenge that doesn't have permission, being a team leader or someone that is put in charge of challenges, this will keep too many posts going and also have less confusion on the board.

Thanks

Lisa Wed, 9 Jan 2008 16:59:09 EST 5 + Days a Week NO extra Sugar Challenge So I decided to go sugar-free for January and then only one treat a week for the rest of the year. I think that because I do not drink alcohol, sugar has been my drug of choice. I want to invite others to the challenge of eating NO Extra Sugars for 5 days a week. Join us! Wed, 9 Jan 2008 13:00:39 EST Idea for the team I was wondering if anyone wanted to have a weekly challenge (something easy like losing more then 1 lb that week, exercising 3-5 days that week, etc.) and/or streaking? (streaking meaning seeing how many days in a row you can do something like drinking 8 cups of water, not eating sugar, etc.) I thought doing something like that might help us to be more motivated. Mostly because I really need the extra motivation and was hoping others did too. Does that sound like a good idea? If not are there... Tue, 8 Jan 2008 18:06:44 EST Canning Candy! Give it a try! I learned how to "can" candy for food storage. LOL! Part of my obstical of loosing weight is sugar. I decided that those treats that I can only get once a year...I would "can" them. My desire for them diminished by buying them & putting them sealed in a jar. Since I am not planning on eating them all...they are great for FHE or every once in a while. I learned this technique of tricking my body into thinking it is getting what it wants, without giving in to it. I will set limits after ... Tue, 8 Jan 2008 15:11:45 EST Hi from the Newbie! I just found this team and so glad I did. I have 2 little monkeys that keep me pretty busy and I think I might have a unhealthy love of food. Because I can't stop eating it. I just started SP 4 days ago and haven't been able to stay within my cal's yet. But we will soon be starting a new week so I have high hopes that I will be able to lose this fat! I just better not let my husband do the shopping. ;D Sat, 5 Jan 2008 20:57:35 EST Does anyone have more than 4 kids? I have more than 4 kids and I want to find out if anyone can relate? Thu, 3 Jan 2008 12:15:15 EST Hi from the Land of Entrapment Ha ha. That's what we call NM. I'm currently majoring in fitness and nutriton until I get into cosmetology school. I've lost 50lbs in the last year and want to go another 50. Glad to be here. Mon, 24 Dec 2007 16:02:03 EST Workouts... Just a thought. Our ward enrichment gets together Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and works out together. Different people come on different days, but it is really motivating for me. I live in a condo, and we do workout videos together in the winter, and in the summer we take our kids on a stroller ride outside. I'm always EXCITED to exercise AND socialize. It really makes a difference to have friends exercise with you! Does anyone else have some good ideas to make exercise FUN? Tue, 4 Dec 2007 23:16:42 EST Brand Spanin' New Hi all. I mean BESIDES spending countless hours on spark peope website! 252 Sun, 25 Nov 2007 23:53:03 EST Re introduction OKay most of you probably don't know who I am as I quit coming here in January. I was prego. I just used the nutrition thing while i was. Which kept me from gaining a horrible amount of weight and as of last week I had lost all of the weight I had gained with the pregnancy. I just thought I would reintroduce myself. I am Cindy and I am a sahm of 3 kids. Dd 5, ds 3, and baby 7weeks. Anyway I hope you all have a great weight loss journey! Have a great day! Tue, 13 Nov 2007 15:27:04 EST Makes it easier! I've noticed that I am more inclined to eat fruits and veggies if as soon as I get them I prepare them. Example...If I buy carrots, I wash them and cut them up and stick them in the fridge I will eat them when I am looking for something to snack on. If they are not prepared then I'll probably end up eating something that is quick and easy and usually that's not too healthy! Does anyone else have any other quick snack tips! Fri, 9 Nov 2007 00:46:45 EST Just found this team I have looked through this website many times and did not realize until just now that this team existed. I was excited. I now have a place to go that understands my beliefs. I have been a member since June and I just recently went through a phase where I gained ten pounds but last week I worked really hard and I lost five of it. So, coming into this group I am curious - do you all have any weekly or daily challenges or any other types of motivation to get you all going? My problem is just not being motivated enough to lose those last few pounds. I lost them easy enough after each of my boys until the last one. Ironic, but true. So I was just wondering if there was anything you girls were already doing. I know I work harder when I am accountable to someone! Hey everyone, I heard of a great team that will help us in this competition. It's called "Leaving 180-ville" and you try to get each other "out of town" and into 170-ville. Well, I weighed 231 at the time so I started 230-ville and 220-ville. This is such a fun way to meet people in our own weight brackets and to help encourage each other to lose weight. If you are interested, the following are links to the various weight brackets. Just choose your weight URL and put it into your browser. Hop... Sun, 28 Jan 2007 02:25:28 EST How is everyone doing? Thu, 18 Jan 2007 23:46:20 EST I need help!!! How do you guys,(gals?), deal with cravings! My family isn't following the same diet as me and it's really tempting to skip my low calorie meal for what they are eating. I'm also craving sweets. I just found out from a member at church about SP but she did not mention their are Teams for LDS women. I feel blessed to be connected to women who are living and doing the same things that I am. I am excited to start a new eating lifestyle. To become more physically fit and a more well rounded mommy! Thu, 4 Jan 2007 23:34:17 EST Hello to All!! Hi! I'm Cori, and I'm so glad there is a group of LDS women on here! I just started the Spark people thing and need lots of love and support. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and am excited to join your group!! Tue, 2 Jan 2007 23:34:39 EST New here! Alright I have been doing this SP thing for four days! I am loving it and I am so glad to find some LDS pages as well! I am a SAHM to two wonderful kids. My daughter almost 5, Ashlyn, and my son Bryan who is 2. I love them with all my heart and want to be healthy again so that I can do many many things with them. I hope to be able to lose some weight here.

233 Fri, 22 Dec 2006 12:08:12 EST OT: not about weight loss but about CTR is it possible and/or appropriate for LDS women to have male friends other than their husband? It seems that we are so "segregated" in our church---I understand the wisdom of being cautious and protecting your marriage, but is it really such a bad idea to be friends with a man other than your husband? Please, if you have time to post on this, I'd really like some thoughtful answers to ponder rather than just a blanket "no way!" thanks, Tue, 19 Dec 2006 10:10:12 EST What things are off limits for your family? Okay, I was reading a thread on message forum about how your family adjusts to your healthier lifestyle. Frankly, it was too long of a section for me to make it very far. When there are hundreds of posts in one topic, I make it through a dozen or so and give up! So, here in a slightly smaller group, I'd like to know how you make healthy changes for the whole family and what things (trans fats, sugar, artificial sweeteners, etc.) are off limits for your family? Thu, 30 Nov 2006 09:01:12 EST Newbie Intro Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Last week I re-joined SparkPeople to keep track of my food intake. The past month or so I've been trying to do stuff on my own, but haven't had much success so I thought this might help some. Monday night I went to join LA Weight Loss because in the past I've always done better going somewhere for more help instead of just doing things on my own.

I'm 31 years old, married, and have 2 daughters (ages 6.5 & 2.5). I was always active in sports growin... Wed, 29 Nov 2006 17:34:04 EST Drinking water while fasting? Can you drink water while your fasting? I'm fasting today for the missonaries and was wondering. I haven't drank any water but was wondering. Tue, 10 Oct 2006 13:04:36 EST New here Hi- I just found this website today and am so excited. It really seems like a great place to help me lose the weight that I want. This group seemed to fit me pretty well, as I am a mormon mommy. I am in Utah County. Anyone else? I am looking forward to getting to know you all. Oh yeah, I have 2 kids and want to lose about 30 pounds.

Jenn Thu, 14 Sep 2006 22:58:26 EST Motivation is lacking I've got a serious lack of motivation lately. It seems that in the last month all I want to do is sit on the computer or nap. I don't want to get up to workout, or play with my kids, or anthing like that. My eating habbits have slipped as well, granted I'm not anywhere near as bad as i used to be but still I'm not doing all I should. What do you girls do to keep motivated and focoused? Thu, 7 Sep 2006 12:14:15 EST hey there! I just joined Sparkpeople today, but so far I like what I see. I saw this group and thought it fit me pretty well and I just wanted to say hi to everyone here! So....HI! Hope to talk with ya later.

-Sarah Tue, 5 Sep 2006 03:51:06 EST
