Tue, 29 May 2012 14:12:29 EST New diagnosis It's official. The Tampa VA Hospital tells me I do have Invasive Mammary Breast Cancer. It is still quite small (appears to be less than 1cm) although that's about all we know at this time. Other tests from the biopsy are still pending and more are to come. I had my own private Nurse with me at the appointment - James. Nothing has been staged yet, nor a specific treatment plan determined until these additional tests are done and completed. As of now, they don't think I'll need a mastect... Sun, 25 Dec 2011 09:02:20 EST NEW WITH QUESTIONS Hello Everybody,
I was diagnosed with Invasive DCIS Stage 2 breast cancer in mid November of this year. I had a lumpectomy on Dec 5 and also had 13 lymph nodes removed. Only 3 of the 13 had cancer in them and the margins of the mass came back clean.
My question is, has anyone else had a sensation of red hot needles in the armpit after lymph node removal? It is making me crazy! My doc said it should go away in a couple of months, but I would like to hear from someone that experienced... Fri, 16 Dec 2011 09:49:53 EST 5 year survivor Hi! Fri, 22 Apr 2011 08:55:19 EST Newly diagnosed Just got told yesterday that my biopsy shows I have invasive breast cancer. Moodwise, I am swinging from good feelings my family are giving me in showing their support, and feeling teary-eyed and terrified. Next week I see the surgeon to discuss further options/referrals. I have a really good doctor and his nurse is incredibly helpful in answering my questions. But I am stone-cold scared right now. Any tips from the rest of you would be most welcome. Wed, 13 Apr 2011 10:37:45 EST Meet up Hi, still figuring how to find my place, and where I fit in on SP. I have noticed that some teams have got together for a walk and then eat a light lunch together. I know there are not many of us, but are there any people from the St Pete, Fl area who might be interested? 247 Wed, 16 Feb 2011 16:21:12 EST Hello All! I was diagnosed with breast cancer April 2010 at the age of 38. I had a bilateral masectomy in June 2010 and just got done with chemo in December 2010. I gained 10 pounds after surgery then 10 pounds during chemo! I thought chemo would take off the surgery weight. Guesss not. Anyway, I am looking forward to a healthy 2011. Sat, 29 Jan 2011 23:53:37 EST Acupuncture for Lymphedema study I just enrolled in a research study on acupuncture for lymphedema being conducted at Memorial Sloan- Kettering in NYC. I had seen it on the news last spring when they did a small study with about 9 participants, and had favorable results, so now they're starting a larger study. Recent evidence has shown that acupuncture may help reduce the swelling, and this study is going to look further at whether it can reduce lymphedema and help to understand immune changes that may be associated with i... Sun, 2 Jan 2011 15:28:36 EST calcificarion on mammogram Hi everyone!

My mom had her annual mammogram on Friday. Her radiologist found a tiny calcification in her breast tissue, it was not visible to the naked eye with the first set of films. She had the tech do 2 more pictures, using the smaller mammogram tray to magnify it more so it could be seen. It appears that there is only one small calcification. She is having a biopsy tomorrow afternoon, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers... There is no family history of breast canc... Sun, 22 Aug 2010 19:12:58 EST I'm New This is my first post. I am an 8 year breast cancer survivor. In 2002, I went through 6 months of chemo, followed by a radical mastectomy and 37 radiation treatments. I was always concerned and a little worried, but never scared. I turned 50 with no hair, no eyelashes or eyebrows and no finger or toe nails. I figure once you get through that, everything else is a piece of cake. I am a single parent of two daughters - now grown. They were 15 & 17 at the time of my ordeal. Both were tremendous ... Thu, 19 Aug 2010 10:52:56 EST WOW About two years ago I started this team (Making it Through Breast Cancer) My life has taken some weird turns and I find myself back here. When I left SP there were no members, now look it's taken off. I'm now a 7 year survivor and loving everyday. I give thanks to God everyday for being here, and cancer free. So I just wanted to say hello team. WOW! Marie Tue, 8 Jun 2010 13:27:55 EST Tribute to Damisa I invite anybody who knew Dawn to please share their memories of her. I've only been a spark member for 6 months and never really got to know her, other than what she wrote in her blogs. For those of you too new to have known her, please visit her Sparkpage (Damisa) and read her blogs. You'll find that she was an extraordinary breast cancer patient who was always positive in spite of all she went through and never lost hope. She was a real fighter, and a wonderful inspiration to me. I am... Mon, 7 Jun 2010 14:20:58 EST Welcome New Members! Hi to all and welcome to our new members. And my apologies for our site being so inactive these past few months. I've been off track and unable to get back on since the beginning of the year. I'm really struggling but am hoping to make a new start (yet again!) I'm just so tired all the time that it's hard to get going, and my depression makes me not care. But hopefully with your support I can turn this around. Please tell us a little about yourselves and how your bc journey is going. I... Thu, 3 Jun 2010 10:14:21 EST Check in for week of March 29 I've been having the toughest time getting back on track. No, I did not start south beach as planned. We decided to wait until after Easter. Part of the problem for me is that since I don't eat eggs, and that's all you have for breakfast the first 2 weeks, it's a huge challenge for me to come up with an alternative. Plus I really hate planning menus, so I'm procrastinating. But at least I finally got back on the treadmill. It was after noontime, and was even thinking I'd probably blow... Tue, 30 Mar 2010 13:14:26 EST Prayer Requests Hi!

If anyone has a special prayer request, post it and we can all add it to our prayer list! If any one is in the middle of Chemo right now, that would be a good time to ask for prayers, let us know.

With God ALL things are possible! Wed, 24 Mar 2010 12:46:47 EST Check in week of March 22 Hi,

The weather here in Ottawa has been spring like and it's great for the spirit. Nothing like a warm sun and seeing the snow melt. I started my new eating plan on February 27th and haven't cheated once! It is a plan through a local gym that eliminates all sugar, flour and processed foods. I know it's extreme, but I can't trust myself with too many options and treats and was looking for a way to help my body get rid of toxins.
What types of food plans if any are other team m... Wed, 24 Mar 2010 12:34:54 EST Check In for This Week, 3/7-13 Use this however you like--daily, once a week, what you plan to do for the day/week or how you actually did, or both. My plan for today was to get on the treadmill for 30 minutes, but it was so springlike today that my husband and I decided to go for a walk outside. I've been off my usual exercise routine the past 2 weeks but am planning on getting back on track tomorrow, with yoga in the morning, and later walking and strength exercises. Will check in tomorrow evening to tell how I did! <... Sun, 7 Mar 2010 23:11:21 EST Checkin for Wed. March 3 Hello!!
I am Angee. I need to make a pot of lentil stew for the guys so we have food ready to be eaten for dinner. We have church tonight so food ready to go is a must.

Happy Wednesday all!!

Remember that regular exercise cuts your rate of cancer reoccurance by 40%. The study tha... Wed, 3 Mar 2010 10:33:03 EST How many points did you spin today? Only 1 today Mon, 8 Feb 2010 10:06:37 EST What have you learned from your cancer journey? I have learned patience, to ask for help instead of trying to do it all myself, and most importantly, to stop worrying, because it doesn't do any good! I'm trying to get my husband to stop worrying (because he mostly worries about me!), but it's just not working yet. So I'm just going to keep being a good example!
517 26 Sat, 6 Feb 2010 19:17:26 EST Soya products My Dr. says no soya products.Just wondering if that is the case for everyone with breast cancer and if healthy teenagers should stay away too.
