I'm at my heaviest at 205lbs and 5'1". I'm about to start Jenny Craig again tomorrow and very optimistic about losing. I think sp and Jenny will help me stick it out this time and remain accountable. I have 2 loveable pooches, Mozart and Melody. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. It takes a couple of days for them to understand that "someone" belongs here, then they are good to go. Now in the yard - all bets are off. My girls were terrified and kept me up all night. Gypsy starts it even before the storm comes in. That upsets Tazzy as she doesn't seem to know what Gypsy is scared of so there is lots of barking and pacing. How/what does your dog ride?

Tazzy LOVES riding in the car. She gets to ride in the passenger seat if it just the two of us, otherwise it is backseat. I admit i don't strap get in and i let her hang get head out the window. I know, bad Kitty.

Gypsy could take or leave the car most days. She just like to lay on the back and look out the window. He wasn't very bright but was great with my son.

As I watch Gypsy age, my heart breaks for the older dogs in shelters. I plan on sticking with older dogs from here on out. I don't have the energy or patients for "puppy" any more. She has a huge array of sounds and I have even had friends comment that she sounds like she is talking. The only problem is, she never stops! I've bought new toys and chewies to keep him busy. I also bought a water bottle that you hook to the crate so he doesn't have to "ask" for a drink.

My question is, does anyone use oils for their dogs? I have a friend that sells essential oils and recommended a calming oil for him. What does everyone think? She might be getting a bit "crotchety"in her old age but she listens when mom is serious.

Tazzy had the training for it but I don't trust her. She had that "look a squirrel" thing going on and I swear her ears close.

Now i do have to add i rarely let my girls off leash. I don't trust OTHER dogs. It's almost like he is leaning against them. Tonight I noticed that he wanted to play with a toy with Zena and when Zena growled at him (she likes to flex her Alphaness) he got up and leaned against her. After a few minutes of him leaning on her she got up and played with him. I tried to google it but didn't come up with anything. Any ideas?? It is the only time she growls and bares teeth.

Tazzy is really good art reading me. If I'm ok and calm she's your best buddy, whether she knows you or not. If I get nervous or upset she puts herself between me and the other person. For they way they love the water, bath time is an argument. Neither girl cares about getting their nails done. Is it a problem if you upset it?

My girls are both VERY set in their schedules. Wake up, breakfast, walks, nap time, dinner, walk, bed time. You can practically set your watch by Gypsy but Tazzy gets "antsy" too.

Mess them up and they try to force the issue. I was up late last night and Gypsy brought me my pillow! Not only in what she does but her responses to people. I sometimes wonder if she's not a little person in a dog suit.

Tazzy is just so bloody happy! You just can't get that dog down. She loves our vet tech. However, when she sees other dogs that she isn't allowed to great - let's just say they call her trouble maker!

Gypsy is terrified of the vet. She panics from the moment she realizes where we are going until we leave for home. There have been times I have had to carry her though the door. I understand that some dogs are just runners. I don't like it but a loved dog is better in a home than a shelter. I don't think I've ever had a dog that didn't escape at least once. I've had those that dig under the fence, jump/climb over, and Gypsy can just open the gate if it is not locked.

Fortunately I have always found my dog (or they found their way home) Thu, 13 Mar 2014 09:04:13 EST Daily Bark 3/12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x23998x57104381 Does your dog seem happy about the melting snow/end of winter?

Gypsy certainly is. She likes warm weather and she was actually spending some time outside yesterday (it was in the 40's)

Tazzy is very upset. She is "protecting" her snow. Unfortunately that mean she is piling it up and lying on it. Making it melt that much faster! She is so sad the snow is leaving. OMG - that dog would run me to DEATH if I let her. She can run for hours when given a chance.

Gypsy is a couch potato. She will go for a walk, she'll even run once in a while but she is happiest lounging on the couch. sometimes I swear she just goes for a walk so Tazzy and I are not alone. No excuses, just appologies.

When you got your dog, did you change his/her name? What name did they come with?

Gypsy was "Margaret" when we adopted her. Just sounded so old for such a young pup.

Tazzy was "Sonny" - seriously? A black, female named Sonny? She spins when you walk her so Tazazy is short for the Looney Tune Tasmanian Devil. The grumbles and growls combined with the ability to sleep. Hubby calls her the bear dog.

Tazzy is part goat and part kangaroo! She will climb anything that stands still, unless she can eat it! The kangaroo is her jumping and standing on her hind legs. Never had a dog as big as her do that so much. If there is no food, she will sit down in front of me and stare until she is fed.

Tazzy starts about 10 minutes before feeding time. She whines and cries. I don't currently have a dog, but we are planning to get one just as soon as one picks us! I have a lot of experience with dogs as they were a huge part of our past. When our last one passed, I was left completely heartbroken... This was part of my "depression". I was gaining weight, becoming more unhealthy, and didn't know what to do. I had lost all of my confidence and social abilities. On Jan 1, I weighed m... Do you think they would react differently depending on if you were home with an intruder?

If I'm not home, Gypsy is hiding in a closet! I know this for a fact.- it happened before we had Tazzy. If I'm home she will bark and growl at things from next to or behind me. My "brave " dog.

Tazzy can get nasty. If the girls don't like someone, I have a much harder time trusting them. And if mygirls are upset by a situation I either don't go or proceed with extra caution.

I trust their instincts far better than my own. I've done EVERYTHING. She barks when she is happy, wants to greet, want loving, outside, food, treat, etc. She doesn't make any other sounds (never a whine or whimper) but she barks constantly.

Gypsy has a neurological condition that causes lick granulomas. It could get serious (dogs have lost legs) so I have to watch her constantly. She is picky about blankets, her crate, her food, treats, and chews. If things are not just right, she moans and cries.

Tazzy kind of takes care of herself. She just wants love and attention. She could careless about the rest of it. However Tazzy thinks push-up, planks, superman (basically anything prone on the floor) is mommy play bowing - and that's a game on with her. Gypsy fully believe that crunches /sit-up require face licking on the downward motion.
Thu, 6 Feb 2014 08:36:53 EST Daily Bark 2/5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x23998x56656125 If you were getting a dog, would you want a puppy or an adult? Why?

Mopette was my last puppy. I have adopted all adults since. I honestly don't have the time or rnergy for a puppy. I'll even take a senior dog, no toddlers here! One of her favorite movies is Fantasia, she will sit on the couch and watch the entire thing.

Tazzy is either alternative or metal. She loves to move and jump. She is just an "in-your-face" kind of dog. I finally gave up on a hamper cause she just knocks it over. Dirty clothes are hers.

tazzy will take advantage of open dog and cat food bags. I have also had to move the treats because I caught her 'helping herself'. Otherwise, nope - they can go anywhere they want.

They won't go in the basement, there is nothing down there but storage and laundry. Sniff Fest!

Gypsy would be laying on the couch, with the electric blanket, getting her belly rubbed and her legs massaged (donMt touch the feet). She just wants to love and be loved. The dog is NEVER in a bad mood.

Gypsy is thoughtful, gentle, and kind. She always seems to be thinking of things and observing things. She's a very big girl but so gentle. I'll put them in the yard and leave while they are out. If hubby or boy child has let them in, I have clothes in the front bathroom to chane into before they tend to see me. Getting caught results in a mess of slobber, barking, and whining.

And a second run\walk. She'll spend 3 to 5 minutes arranging blankets, pillows, dog bed, really anything available then circle she way into the middle.

Gypsy is not. As long as she has the couch or the bed, she just flops. Mon, 20 Jan 2014 06:43:47 EST Weekend Bark 1/18 & 1/19 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x23998x56412696 What do you look for when you want to adopt a dog?

I like mutts, usually a bit older (1 to 3 years). I love puppies and puppy breath but I don't have time for a young pup. Besides, they never have to worry about finding a home.

I also prefer high energy, larger dogs. Hubby says I have a thing for black dogs, but I've fallen for all colors. It fits me on my confident days.

I saw this on a t-shirt I want for Gypsy "I can go from Southern Belle to ghetto thug faster than you can say Bless Your Heart". It is not me (at least not the southern belle part) but is really feels like my big girl. The tail stops, she gets close, and if itms bad she'll lay down with me between her and the stressor.

Gypsy is much more subtle. She'll lip lick, and get a bit whale eyed. She will hackle, but down by her tail. She doesn't come for help like Tazzy. She is always correcting wht Tazzy does wrong and leads by example.

Tazzy would have to be some sort of preformer, comedian maybe? If you laugh at her, she will just keep repeating the action that made you laugh. Maybe just rolling in leaves, paper, and such. she gets all "wiggly" when she is dreaming. That was all wrong for her, I wanted to call her Rose but hubby had reservations about a black rose, sp her name became Gypsy Rose.

Tazzy was Sonny when we brought her home. It's going on two years since my heart dog, Jozee, died. We have two other dogs, a cat and a horse, but they all belong to my kids. Even though I am the main caregiver to the pets and I love them all, it's still not the same as having "my own" dog. We really don't want three dogs and I'm willing to wait, but if a dog "finds"me, then I'll certainly consider keeping it.

So my question is, do you believe that animals "find" their person? Even the vet is has asked why she doesn't wear one. So I put it on for her to see. Ever see a 70lb fish flopping around trying to get back into the water? Would you want to be burried with your dog?

In a green cemetary - sure. I really don't care what they do with my body once I'm done with it. Ideally, i'd like to "feed a tree" and if I could do that with my dog close by all the better. She is good and very non-reactive. And she has learned to stop "picking up" toys.

Tazzy is a whole nother story. She just wants to play with every dog she sees and she doesn't respond to other dogs when they give her the "back off". If I go on a weeknight, when they are not crowded, I can take her but never on the weekends when the rescues are around. I think I've spent less than a year of the 42 I've been alive without a dog (and that was in 3 different periods). I have a very hard time imagining my life without wet noses and wiggly butts.

I know I enjoy have pet rats and they are quite affectionate and very trainable. That would be an option. You can have a puppy of ANY breed you want - $ no object. What would you want?

I have always wanted a Black Russian Terrier. Wonderful dogs, great temperament, loyal beyond belief. I know they can be tough to train but it doesn't worry me. Fri, 20 Sep 2013 07:12:42 EST Hi there! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x23998x54963431 Howdy folks! My name is Melissa. I've been a member here at SparkPeople for over a year now, but unfortunately, have been kind of bad about yo-yo dieting. 39

But no more! I am bound and determined to stick with eating healthy and getting in shape. I really do want to do this, especially with the holidays looming ahead.

I have a super sweet little puppy who I brought home in July. Her name is Emmy and she is a 20 week old Sheltie pup. 338 She's ... I am not doing anything different than before but just can't seem to lose anything, not even inches. And now to make matters worse I think I screwed up my shoulder (rotator cuff), which makes doing anything but the treadmill and elliptical impossible, and they are boring..lol I am used to doing Zumba,or I have the workout cd the big fat loser( which doing that is what hurt my shoulder.). I just had some digestion issues whic... I love them, but they have such tragically short lives. Emotionally, I don't think I could take it. What do you remember about him/her?

My first dog would have been Heidi. She was a medium to long haired white mutt with tan sploches. She woukd dig foxholes in the yard and i'd lay with her in them. She also slept with me. She actually hurt my back last night. I handed her to EC and she walked like a pro.

Gypsy wil only do basic obedience for anyone otherv than me. She won't do her more advanced tricks (getting pop from the fridge, closing doors, dancing) Tue, 17 Sep 2013 08:59:37 EST Daily Bark 9/16 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x23998x54919055 Does your dog wake you up? If so, how?

My girls do not believe in sleeping in. Gypsy will just lay her head on my pilloe. Her nose less than an inch from my eye, and huff and sigh until I wake. Tazzy is much more dynamic. She has taken to using me as a spring board if I'm sleeping later than she thinks I shpuld. I was playing with a puppy at the Dunes (puppy breathe - AHHH). She gave me a good sniff, huffed, and went to her crate. She is currently ignoring me.

Tazzy is very curious about the "sniffs". After a few minutes, she's just Tazzy, not much of a reaction. The scariest one I can think of was Tazzy (of course). We didn't even have her a week, she had no tags or chip yet and someone left the gate open. I was beside myself - she had spent a year in a crate and had no training. I couldn't even call her cause she didn't know her name. Hubby and I drove the neighborhood for hours. Boy child was walki... Fri, 13 Sep 2013 13:13:43 EST Daily Bark 9/12 http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x23998x54874392 I saw this on the news this am. They said in a survey of dog owners, the owners would cut back/get lesser quaily food for themselves before they would cut back on their dog's food. The female newscaster was kind of making fun of the owners (that just a dog attitude).

So how about you? Does you dog "eat better" than you?

Before Spark, that would have been a resounding YES! I ate junk and the girls got Nutro. Now I think it is about ewual, but I will go without before... Then one big WOOF! The cat runs and Gypsy just "smiles".

Tazzy will chase anything. Bikes and squirrels are at the top of the list. At 100+ pounds, she is NOT a lap dag.

Tazzy is good about knowing her size with people. However, when she tried to rough-house with the neighbor's Chi . . . Yeah no, not happening!
