SparkPeople SP Class of December 14-20, 2008 Team Messageboard This team is for all members who joined SP from December 14-20, 2008. Welcome! SparkPeople SP Class of December 14-20, 2008 Team Messageboard Weight Loss Surgery I'm 60 years old, 3 months ago had weight loss surgery, and have so far lost 60 lbs. The surgery is just a tool for weight loss and I plan on making it work, as in the years past, I have been on every diet out there at least one time, and have lost HUNDREDS of pounds, only to gain it back. I currently weigh 273 and am 5'6". Sun, 10 Feb 2013 09:37:56 EST Heading Towards The Fourth Year -- Who's With Me? In December, 2012, it will be four years since I stumbled across Spark People by accident, and it changed my entire life. I'm sixty pounds lighter now, and although I still have a way to go to reach my goal, I know I will get there one day.

If only five percent of people who start toward their weight-loss goals succeed in the general community, I bet it's a lot higher for those who join Spark People.

Who is still here? I managed to not gain weight nor lose from when I registered in Dec 08. i never really did anything except I started going to the gym and taking a couple of zumba, body pump and spin classes. I really need to get over whatever it is (laziness, lack of time, whatever) to lose weight. So I'm glad to say I have decided to get a hold of this and do what's right for me. Mon, 22 Feb 2010 18:12:43 EST Hello from Ken from Muskegon, MI Just beginning this journey and would appreciate any tips or ideas that you may have that may help me succeed. I son is getting married in late summer and I would like to look healthy and it's time for me to "just do it." I need to lose 50 pounds, wish me luck. Sun, 27 Dec 2009 19:33:51 EST It's Almost A Year. How Are We All Doing? It's almost a year since I joined Spark People. In that time, I've lost sixty pounds, but over the past two or three months, I've lost nothing more. I still have forty pounds to lose, but I'm happy with the idea that it may take me a while to get there. I feel so much better at a size 16 than I did a year ago, at size 22/24.

I have learned so much through this wonderful site. I've learned that as long as you don't quit, you haven't failed. I keep going, even though it might be one... Tue, 17 Nov 2009 14:59:08 EST Biggest I've ever been.... My name is Amber McDaniel. I have been married for 6 years and have a 3 year old son. I have never been "skinny', but I was never overweight. In high school I weighed 115lbs, flat tummy, round bottom and nice chest. I was a cheerleader. After high school I went straight to work - mostly desk jobs - and took night classes. That was almost 10 years ago. Now, I weight 189 pounds, have a nasty pooch as a result of gaining 60 pounds while pregnant and having him by c-section. I breastfed for only ... Sun, 18 Jan 2009 17:35:30 EST leave it to a kid I've seen joke of the day posts and thought it would be fun to start one that instead tells somthing funny your kids have said or done. What do you think?

My 7yr old daughter overheard my saying I needed to put air in my car tire and asked if it was flat. I tell her almost. She then asked how often it goes flat and I tell her I have been putting air in it about once a day. She got real quiet and thought for a few minutes then tells me "if you're airing up your tire everyday like yo... Sun, 11 Jan 2009 23:05:24 EST Horrible Week! I'm doing the a 12 week weight loss challenge and the Bootcamp.

I weighed myself today and I've gained 2 pounds.

I've been really sick for the past 5 days and mostly on the couch or in bed, not moving much, no energy. I guess that's why I gained. I also got "backed up" due to inactivity, so maybe that contributed. Anyway, I'm disappointed.

I was also supposed to start my first full time Nursing job today but had to postpone because I'm still very ill and I'm n... Wed, 7 Jan 2009 00:14:24 EST Checking in, SparkPoints, Etc. 5 JAN 09 Hello fellow cohort... so this is our fourth week together. How is everyone doing?!?

I am doing good. My first two weeks were intentionally chill. I guess I did the Fast Break eating, even though I indulged in the alcohol for the holidays. Since then I have been doing a clean eating program with my husband, C25K, and New YOU Bootcamp. Oh, and I finally got my scale last week and ended up being heavier than I thought. It is all good though, I am motivated.

Also, I h... Mon, 5 Jan 2009 11:08:37 EST I desperately need support Hi, I'm Mary. I signed up here because a friend told me about it but today is the first day I really had the time to look through the site. I currently have 50 lbs to lose and to be honest, I can't believe I ever got to this weight. In the past I had dieted, but only needed to lose no more than 30 lbs. Since I turned 50 (3 years ago) I have had nothing but trouble with weight gain, back problems, perimenopause, etc. So about 4 years, I have put on over 40 lbs. I just can't get the motiv... I'm doing a challenge to lose 18 pounds in 12 weeks starting today and I also joined the boot camp that starts on Jan. 4.

I hope everyone is doing well in their weight loss efforts.

247 250 Thu, 1 Jan 2009 18:02:45 EST A struggling new member I'm 49 years old 1 month away from 50. Need changes in my life, and of course weight is one them. Just like most of the world out there. But, I looking for a good support system to help me through this, since all of my prior attempts have failed. I'm trying to take a different approach this time. My goal is to lose 10 lbs at a time instead of looking at a larger number that seems out of reach for me. My two biggest struggles are losing interest after about 2 weeks and stopping my night ... Wed, 31 Dec 2008 08:55:41 EST GAME: Word Association Just say the first thing that you think of associated with the word.

Example:New Year

Next Post may be: Resolution

Okay, it's the next person's turn to add a word associated with Resolution. Tue, 30 Dec 2008 17:32:06 EST Frustrated I really like doing the SP meal plan - don't eat all my calories each day - I know that is not a good thing but I get so full. My frustration is that I am working out all the time and it seems like the pounds are just not coming off. I go to the gym and do lots of cardio along with some weights. I'm going to do a class tonight which I'm excited about. I wonder if I'm doing the wrong exercises? Tue, 30 Dec 2008 09:14:10 EST Mini Challenge Complete by Mon. Fri, 26 Dec 2008 22:50:46 EST Sparkpeople New You Bootcamp Just a heads up for any of you that are interested. I just came across a Bootcamp challenge that Spark is offering starting Jan. 4. Anyone else here think that we are all tempting fate by starting a few days before X-mas?

I for one can attest to the fact that every time I open the fridge, or enter the kitchen for that matter, I am tempting fate anyway so extra Christmas 'danger' won't matter much

Still, there is something symbolic about NOT waiting for the ole' "new years resolution' thingy.

Good luck everyone!

100 Mon, 22 Dec 2008 21:01:55 EST Just to say hi!! Im a new member as of last week!! Mon, 22 Dec 2008 12:53:11 EST I'm Hungry! I've been on the SparkDiet for 4 days now and love the site. I do have a struggle though. I'm trying to stay within my calorie range, trying to keep it under 1600. I think, if I head to guess, I was regularly eating at least 2100 cal/day. So I'm kinda hungry all the time. My hunger kicks in at night too.
So I thought I'd start a discussion.
Can anyone relate?
Any thoughts?
117 Sun, 21 Dec 2008 18:21:06 EST Curveballs Stink I was doing so well the last few days. I started walking two miles a day. I did my cardio yesterday. I was proud. Today I was getting ready to have my whole family over for dinner and to celebrate my nephew's 3rd birthday. I had an hour and a half, so I tought "after I finish cleaning the kitechen I will do a 10 minute Bootcamp video." I was so excited to try this...then, BLAMMO! Curveball. I was reaching to catch my papertowel holder and the bottom fell off, the rusty, dirty metal rod sliced... Thu, 18 Dec 2008 15:01:40 EST A little about me. Well, if you ask my family its not hard for me to talk about myself. I'm not conceded or anything like that.
