I am a 57 yr old female, been diabetic since I was 31. I am extremely insulin resistant. Currently on 4 shots/day, 2 insulins, and Metformin. I am hypertensive and have cholesterol and triglyceride issues. I have exercised, lifted weights, done water aerobics, worked with a personal trainer, been under the care of an endo and nutritionist and nothing has worked. I have had issues with being addicted to breads and pastries my whole life only to find out that I am one of the lucky ones who has a gluten intolerance that is neurological (goes to my brain like heroine). So yes I am actually an addict. Now I have the challenge of trying to give it up cold turkey but most GF foods are full of starches and I am still addicted to sugar. So here goes my new journey. I have read so many books, with so many conflicting points of view. Right now I am reading Dr. Berstein's book. Can't remember the name. He is extreme low to no carb.
