SparkPeople Post Gastric Bypass Team Team Messageboard This is a team for people who have had gastric bypass and are beyond the medical part but have returned to some of their old habits and would like to connect with other people in the same situation. SparkPeople Post Gastric Bypass Team Team Messageboard having trouble eating Hi All ,
I had gastric bypass July 17 and had been doing liquid diet then started pureen but when I tried to eat fish after 2 bites I thought I would die from all the pain. I was up all night gripping my head board finally by morning , felt better but then eating or drinking anything even water hurt and can take more then one sip at a time. I have Famotidine but haven't been able to take tablet and when I crush it the taste was horrible, suppose to take them for 3 months. Sun, 10 Aug 2014 07:33:55 EST hello new to this team returning SP member Hi! I am new to this team, and a returning SP member. It's been a long time since I've been on here...but now I am back and recommitted to do my best in getting my weight back to my target weight! In June 2010 I had my surgery. I was 265 and got to 138 within I believe 9 months or so! It felt great! I am 4 years out, and am a whopping 185.8 lbs. (was 191 last week, but started taking back my life now Im on week 2). I am wondering if my pouch even works this far out, etc. Someone told me to do... Mon, 9 Jun 2014 16:17:16 EST 13 years later... ..grrrrr Hi everyone! I am new to Spark People, and found this site. So many weight loss programs don't know how to support people who have had weight loss surgery. I had Gastric Bypass over 13 years ago, and did really well....up to a point. I never lost as much as I had hoped, but gained 2/3 of my weight back....almost 60 pounds. Now, I have gotten in a new mentality to doing this slow and easy. Joined WW and lost about 20 pounds since September. It's hard to just get moving. I am from Virginia...46... Sat, 31 May 2014 13:03:46 EST Have any of you tried Atkins after gaining some.. I had Gastric Bypass in June of 2006 and lost 113#. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Problem is, I have gained 44 back in the last 3 years. I have tried everything other than Atkins because of the fat content, but now decided to try Atkins... Other than excess fat, it is closest to the post Bypass diet that I can find. I have only been on it for 2 days, but feel great and have already lost 3#.. (I know most is water, but we will see) Anyone else tried this post-bypass? What were your exper... Wed, 9 Apr 2014 13:49:20 EST Update on the H Pylori Hi All!!!!!!!!! I hope everyone is well!!! I'm just waiting for this "Polar Vortex" to vortex on out of here so I can get outside and walk!!! Anyways, an update on the H Pylori caper... It is gone!!! Yay!!! The H Pylori must not wanted to be lonely because since its departure, I have no appetite - weird, but hey what can you do? I am back tracking my food and trying to get back into the mindset of physical hunger not head hunger, you know? I am still dizzy, but I think that has to do ... Tue, 4 Mar 2014 13:23:23 EST 6 month stall...... grrrrrrrrr! So I am 6 months post op and have had tremendous success on this journey thus far...... I've lost 82 pounds and 38 total inches. I'm eating healthy and exercising daily.

But I've hit a 3 week stall....... so I've upped my calories this week (I'm on day 6 of 7) to 1000 calories per day. I've also increased my exercise from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Still the scale is not moving up or down.

One more day and I will drop my calories back down to 600 per day and see if ... Thu, 13 Feb 2014 20:28:21 EST Hi Hi all!
I had RNY 5 years ago and a panniculectomy (extra stomach skin removed) 3 years ago. Anyways, I lost about 130 lbs. within the first 2 years, but since my panniculectomy it slowly crept up until early 2013 - I have put on 80 lbs. in 9 months with no explanation. I was exercising 3 hours a day (1hr am, 1hr lunch, 1hr pm) and watching my food on SP. I'm getting tested for hypothyroid as my Mum has it and it is genetic. I had H Pylori. (I'll find out next week if it's gone). ... Thu, 16 Jan 2014 08:49:59 EST Hello... hello... (hello) It looks as this team might be in hibernation for now, but I still wanted to check in!

My name is Brooke and I had my RNY ten years ago. I was one of my doctor's youngest patients. When people ask me if I would do it again - I say "yes, everyday" (on my kitchen table with a steak knife - if need be).

I've gained some back, but I'm still significantly smaller than what I used to be and hey, that's something. I'm currently working on the Paleo diet which is surprisingly s... Sun, 24 Nov 2013 13:31:49 EST Here I come! Hello people,
My name is Mary and I had bypass surgery almost 2 years ago. Hey all.... What is the hardest thing you find yourself dealing with, post surgery? It doesn't matter how long ago your surgery was. Mine seems to be my endless, endless supplements and exercise.
As far as the supplements go, it seems that if I forget to take them on one day, one day turns to two, and then to three, and then I have a hard time getting back on track with them again.
The same thing can be said for the exercise. I can do great for a while...then I miss one day...... Mon, 21 May 2012 20:22:20 EST Helloooooo oooo!!!!!! Hi all! My name is Joshua. I am 39 yrs old, married, and the father to wonderful boys. I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery on June 22, 2004. My top weight was approximately 299.5 lbs, although it might have been higher before I decided to see a surgeon about WLS (my original surgeon has since retired). Initially I lost 134.5 lbs, but then I regained 76 lbs. I recently got back on track and have lost around 14 lbs. I found a new Bariatric Surgeon/Dr whose practice is very comprehensive. I discussed with him the possibility of having a Band Over Bypass Revision; but I am h... Sun, 13 May 2012 00:04:26 EST Breakfast/Lunch Ideas Hello All!
As some of you know, I am 9 years post op and have "fallen off the wagon" so to speak. I have gained back over 75% of my weight. I want to get back into some healthy eating patterns. Not just healthy, but eating the way we gastric bypass people are supposed to be eating. : )
I work in an office, and even though I know we're not supposed to eat meals in front of the computer, I do eat breakfast and lunch at my desk. Thu, 5 Apr 2012 07:31:30 EST glad I found this team I had Gastric Bypass in 1999 - never really reached my goal weight. At surgery I was 245 - lost down in the 160's and and now back to the 220. Since surgery I have joined WW twice, exercised, walked - some things worked but weight still comes back. Then last week I saw a program on TLC about Melissa "my 600 lb life". I was amazed at her openess to letting camera follow her for 7 years after gbs. She had ups and downs - but she was willing to be vulnerable, let people see beyond the "fat ... Sun, 1 Apr 2012 11:12:59 EST new to the boards I had my bypass 10 yrs ago, lost 100lbs and gained about 30 back, but the 100lbs lost was only half of what my original desire was, for some reason I just stopped there and didn't start gaining back until a few years back. I find I now suffer from eating minimally and usually liquid calories (coffee, beverages) which is a bad thing and its effecting my health (vitamin deficiency even with daily vitamins). Has anyone else lost their ability to identify hunger since their operation.
Sun, 5 Feb 2012 15:40:27 EST Share your 2012 plans here Hi Everyone,
I hope you have enjoyed a restdul, exciting, loving, wonderful holiday season. The problem is I can eat almost everything I could before. Which means that ... Wed, 11 Feb 2009 14:58:10 EST hello, admitting what you've done Well, this is my first post...hello all. I was actually looking for a forum dedicated to those who lost and gained.
My name is Linda and I had RNY surgery in March 2003. It worked great, until Valentines Day '04... that was the day when I stopped losing. I basically maintained for a year or two then the weight started creeping back. I should say, then I started eating wrong.
I can clearly remember the surgical consult when my doc said, "the body will eventually figure out what you'... Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:49:00 EST Trouble with sugar? I have trouble with sugar, both in craving it and eating it. I crave it a lot, but I can't eat a lot. I went from having type 2 diabetes before the gb, to being hypoglycemic with blood sugars sometimes dipping into single digits. On of my problems is that if I eat too much, I throw up. I've heard that is common after the surgery. Due to my low blood sugars, I have to eat sugar sometimes, I just don't know when to stop. Doughnuts are the worst. I can eat one, then 10 min later, I'm puking. You... Tue, 6 Jan 2009 18:37:47 EST new member from wis I am from wis, and am 6yrs post gb. I have had some absorption issues, eating disorder problems, and some others as well. I have stress in my family, and lots of it. That in itself makes me not eat the way I should. Never had a support group, as I was sent to a different hospital to have surgery, and they did not have any kind of follow-up care. Would love to hear from others in wis. Sat, 3 Jan 2009 22:12:56 EST Hi I am new Hi

My name is Holly, I am 3 years out of surgery and am 8 weeks pregnant. I did not have any plastics (my dr felt I did not have enough skin to remove, and I did not either until now) I do have some hanging skin that bothers me a lot now more then ever. I have two other kids and I was 250ish weight and this is the first pregnancy I might actually look pregnant. However I look in the mirror naked and see Fat Holly. I see the skin and totally forget I am pregnant and just cry because... Sat, 1 Nov 2008 20:47:58 EST Hello from Oregon My name is Amy and I am 3 1/2 yrs post op. I lost 130 lbs but have been at a stand still and even gained some weight with a recent injury.
I find even though it's been 3 years, I am still mentally hungry. Does anyone else experience this? I've also had to retrain myself to let others know how I feel instead of burying feelings with food. That one has been a challenge.
I'd love to hear of everyone's triumph's (like I haven't had a Krispy Kreme in 3 1/2 yrs) or difficulties. Thanks fo... I do great when I prepare my meals at home or bring my meals to work but I work 12 hour shifts and I'm usually hungry on my way home from work. My old habit was to stop at a fast food place or other restaurant and eat out instead of cooking something healthy at home. I usually had something high calorie and high fat. For the first few months after surgery I didn't think of eating out much and if I did I chose something "good" (low cal, low fat). I have been...
