I am new to this team, and a returning SP member. It's been a long time since I've been on here...but now I am back and recommitted to do my best in getting my weight back to my target weight! In June 2010 I had my surgery. I was 265 and got to 138 within I believe 9 months or so! It felt great! I am 4 years out, and am a whopping 185.8 lbs. (was 191 last week, but started taking back my life now Im on week 2). I am wondering if my pouch even works this far out, etc. Someone told me to do... Mon, 9 Jun 2014 16:17:16 EST 13 years later... ..grrrrr http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x58060797 Hi everyone! I am new to Spark People, and found this site. So many weight loss programs don't know how to support people who have had weight loss surgery. I had Gastric Bypass over 13 years ago, and did really well....up to a point. I never lost as much as I had hoped, but gained 2/3 of my weight back....almost 60 pounds. Now, I have gotten in a new mentality to doing this slow and easy. Joined WW and lost about 20 pounds since September. It's hard to just get moving. I am from Virginia...46... Sat, 31 May 2014 13:03:46 EST Have any of you tried Atkins after gaining some.. http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x20647x57449377 I had Gastric Bypass in June of 2006 and lost 113#. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Problem is, I have gained 44 back in the last 3 years. I have tried everything other than Atkins because of the fat content, but now decided to try Atkins... Other than excess fat, it is closest to the post Bypass diet that I can find. I have only been on it for 2 days, but feel great and have already lost 3#.. (I know most is water, but we will see) Anyone else tried this post-bypass? What were your exper... Wed, 9 Apr 2014 13:49:20 EST Update on the H Pylori http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x57002864 Hi All!!!!!!!!! I hope everyone is well!!! I'm just waiting for this "Polar Vortex" to vortex on out of here so I can get outside and walk!!! Anyways, an update on the H Pylori caper... It is gone!!! Yay!!! The H Pylori must not wanted to be lonely because since its departure, I have no appetite - weird, but hey what can you do? I am back tracking my food and trying to get back into the mindset of physical hunger not head hunger, you know? I am still dizzy, but I think that has to do ... I've lost 82 pounds and 38 total inches. I'm eating healthy and exercising daily.

But I've hit a 3 week stall....... so I've upped my calories this week (I'm on day 6 of 7) to 1000 calories per day. I've also increased my exercise from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Still the scale is not moving up or down.

One more day and I will drop my calories back down to 600 per day and see if ... Thu, 13 Feb 2014 20:28:21 EST Hi http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x56385867 Hi all!
I had RNY 5 years ago and a panniculectomy (extra stomach skin removed) 3 years ago. Anyways, I lost about 130 lbs. within the first 2 years, but since my panniculectomy it slowly crept up until early 2013 - I have put on 80 lbs. in 9 months with no explanation. I was exercising 3 hours a day (1hr am, 1hr lunch, 1hr pm) and watching my food on SP. I'm getting tested for hypothyroid as my Mum has it and it is genetic. I had H Pylori. (I'll find out next week if it's gone). ... Thu, 16 Jan 2014 08:49:59 EST Hello... hello... I was one of my doctor's youngest patients. When people ask me if I would do it again - I say "yes, everyday" (on my kitchen table with a steak knife - if need be).

I've gained some back, but I'm still significantly smaller than what I used to be and hey, that's something. I was so thankful for the results of the surgery. It made it possible to get of a lot of my medications. Even though I still can eat only small amounts of food at a time, I find myself having to eat every couple of hours or I will get a sugar low. Doing this has brought some weight back about 15 pounds. What is the hardest thing you find yourself dealing with, post surgery? It doesn't matter how long ago your surgery was. Mine seems to be my endless, endless supplements and exercise.
As far as the supplements go, it seems that if I forget to take them on one day, one day turns to two, and then to three, and then I have a hard time getting back on track with them again.
The same thing can be said for the exercise. I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery on June 22, 2004. My top weight was approximately 299.5 lbs, although it might have been higher before I decided to see a surgeon about WLS (my original surgeon has since retired). Initially I lost 134.5 lbs, but then I regained 76 lbs. I recently got back on track and have lost around 14 lbs. I found a new Bariatric Surgeon/Dr whose practice is very comprehensive. Not just healthy, but eating the way we gastric bypass people are supposed to be eating. : )
I work in an office, and even though I know we're not supposed to eat meals in front of the computer, I do eat breakfast and lunch at my desk. Sun, 1 Apr 2012 11:12:59 EST new to the boards http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x46433162 I had my bypass 10 yrs ago, lost 100lbs and gained about 30 back, but the 100lbs lost was only half of what my original desire was, for some reason I just stopped there and didn't start gaining back until a few years back. I find I now suffer from eating minimally and usually liquid calories (coffee, beverages) which is a bad thing and its effecting my health (vitamin deficiency even with daily vitamins). Has anyone else lost their ability to identify hunger since their operation.
Sun, 5 Feb 2012 15:40:27 EST Share your 2012 plans here http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x20647x46000368 Hi Everyone,
I hope you have enjoyed a restdul, exciting, loving, wonderful holiday season. I initially lost 110 pounds and have kept it off until recently. In the past 7 months I have dealt with the stress of losing my Daddy and dealing with a stubbon 20 year old child. I have gained 15 pounds back from my goal weight and plus 5 extra that I had lost from that. The stress munchie monster got me. A nibble here and there did it. I am determined to lose it. I am glad there is a site for us!!! Mon, 5 Apr 2010 16:15:30 EST Hi I'm 4yrs out and need help http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x32465487 I am 4 yrs post op and have been struggling for the last several months and regaining some weight. I was at my goal over a year ago but lost a little too much (hard for me to believe, but true). When I tried to gain 10 pounds it seems the wheels came off the bus and I started old habits I guess. Stress eating, not as active. I am afraid all the weight will start to come back now and am freaking out. Which is making it harder to make good decisions.
Any suggestions from those who have be... I live with my hubby, 3 beautiful baby girls (15, 4 and newborn). I am currently at home full time raising my girls which I must admit is making it harder for me to stick to healthier lifestyle choices.

I had WLS (Gastric Bypass) in Dec 2007 due to several health conditions (Narcolepsy ~ all 4 Stages, Asthma, Sleep Apnea, Heart Condition and High Blood Pressure). ... I lost 140lbs in about 18 months, kept it off for about a year, then started trying out the old "bad foods" again and sadly found that I could eat sweets with virtually no side effects. I I rarely ever had the "dumping syndrome" and would only experience pain and nausea (very rarely vomitting)when I consume breads too quickly or have too much at once.

I picked up a Mt. I'm new to this group and am looking forward to talking to many of the members of this seemingly awesome group! I had bariatric surgery (roux-n-Y) in December of 2004. I started at 382 lbs., got down to 196 lbs., and have gained enough back that I now weigh around 240 lbs. I feel so much better than I used to...but I so want to reach my goal weight of 140 lbs.

I would love to talk to someone about the issues that we, as post-bariatric patients, deal with. I thought I'd take a quick minute to introduce myself to the team. My name is Tonia, I'll be 34 in a month, but my new BIRTH day was December 23, 2004. I lost a total of 130 pounds but in the last year and a half have gained back 20 of that. I am still far better than I was and I don't necessarily want to lose the full 20 again (156 was too skinny for me) but I'd like to get 10 of it back off. How have all of you been able to utilize the tools on this site for success? I would b... Fri, 13 Mar 2009 13:02:58 EST I've fallen and I'm too fat to get up. http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x22964066 Okay not that bad yet but my knees are hurting once again and my clothes are snug. I had RNY April 2001, lost 100 pounds and I've regained approximately 23 pounds. It feels awful on my body and my motivation. Mon, 16 Feb 2009 16:03:19 EST 2004 post RNY weight loser http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x22911469 Hi in March 2004, i had a gastric bypass. I lost 76lbs and have gained 20 lbs, which i drastically want to lose. Let's get this group active. With such a small group we can be a great support to one another. Has anyone done weight watchers after their bypass? Anyone interested in doing it informally on here without the expense of the meetings?

Great to be here, Melinda Sat, 14 Feb 2009 20:25:24 EST New to Gastric By-pass group http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x22816904 Hi, I had a gastric by-pass about 5 years ago. I reached my goal and then over the next 4 years I put on 30 pounds. I am just looking for some suggestions and support to lose some of the weight again. My by-pass went really well. I didn't get sick the first year because I followed the rules. When I hit my goal I started adding some of the things that I had not been eating to see what I could and could not eat. The problem is I can eat almost everything I could before. Which means that ... I was actually looking for a forum dedicated to those who lost and gained.
My name is Linda and I had RNY surgery in March 2003. It worked great, until Valentines Day '04... that was the day when I stopped losing. I basically maintained for a year or two then the weight started creeping back. I should say, then I started eating wrong.
I can clearly remember the surgical consult when my doc said, "the body will eventually figure out what you'... Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:49:00 EST Trouble with sugar? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x20647x21552029 I have trouble with sugar, both in craving it and eating it. I crave it a lot, but I can't eat a lot. I went from having type 2 diabetes before the gb, to being hypoglycemic with blood sugars sometimes dipping into single digits. On of my problems is that if I eat too much, I throw up. I've heard that is common after the surgery. Due to my low blood sugars, I have to eat sugar sometimes, I just don't know when to stop. Doughnuts are the worst. I can eat one, then 10 min later, I'm puking. You... Tue, 6 Jan 2009 18:37:47 EST new member from wis http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x20647x21436543 I am from wis, and am 6yrs post gb. I have had some absorption issues, eating disorder problems, and some others as well. I have stress in my family, and lots of it. That in itself makes me not eat the way I should. Never had a support group, as I was sent to a different hospital to have surgery, and they did not have any kind of follow-up care. Would love to hear from others in wis. I did not have any plastics (my dr felt I did not have enough skin to remove, and I did not either until now) I do have some hanging skin that bothers me a lot now more then ever. I have two other kids and I was 250ish weight and this is the first pregnancy I might actually look pregnant. However I look in the mirror naked and see Fat Holly. I see the skin and totally forget I am pregnant and just cry because... I lost 130 lbs but have been at a stand still and even gained some weight with a recent injury.
I find even though it's been 3 years, I am still mentally hungry. Does anyone else experience this? I've also had to retrain myself to let others know how I feel instead of burying feelings with food. That one has been a challenge.
I'd love to hear of everyone's triumph's (like I haven't had a Krispy Kreme in 3 1/2 yrs) or difficulties. Thanks fo... Originally from the Macon area in Georgia but now living in the bonnie highlands of Scotland. I had the gastric bypass in Belgium July 07. I've lost a little over 100 pounds. It should have been more but my exercise plans don't seem to last! Now hubby and I are in a competition to lose weight and that seems to be what we needed as we are both competitive! We are now exercising together and that's a big help.

Good luck to everyone! We'll get... Sat, 24 May 2008 18:55:25 EST My old habit that I really am trying to break http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x20647x14158048 is going out to eat after work. I do great when I prepare my meals at home or bring my meals to work but I work 12 hour shifts and I'm usually hungry on my way home from work. My old habit was to stop at a fast food place or other restaurant and eat out instead of cooking something healthy at home. I usually had something high calorie and high fat. For the first few months after surgery I didn't think of eating out much and if I did I chose something "good" (low cal, low fat). I have been...
