SparkPeople SP Class of August 24-30, 2008 Team Messageboard Where are YOU on your journey? Hey there! I cannot believe that 8 years ago I started a lifestyle change that altered the trajectory of my life!

Well, 8 years added a husband, 2 kids (2 healthy pregnancies, 2 breastfed babes, one who STILL doesn't sleep the night!), and quitting smoking! So here I am. I survived it all and did well with keeping the pounds off, up until my second kiddo was born...and hasn't slept since! After 2 years of not sleeping, I realized that my old coping skills were creeping in. T... Tue, 11 Oct 2016 08:44:51 EST Anyone still out there? Hey Team - been a while, and I was just curious if any of the original group is still around? Mon, 14 Feb 2011 18:09:31 EST Daily check in - How are you feeling today? It's monday, so I am definitely feeling tired. I think that you always feel like that after work on Monday because you spent the day flexing your brain after spending the weekend trying to relax!
How is everyone else?
Feel free to check in here DAILY! 30 Mon, 27 Sep 2010 16:50:06 EST 2 Years Good morning team. Wed, 28 Apr 2010 20:21:19 EST Leader... Hello team! I noticed we do not have a team leader...uh oh! I will give it a shot! I am looking forward to working with you all towards our goals.

I am guilty of time has gone by since I have joined sparkpeople, I have gotten lazy and have not been paying as much attention to weight management and a healthy life style. I am determined to get back into this. I could use all of your help, and I want to help all of you as well! Thanks team! Wed, 28 Apr 2010 20:14:15 EST Looking towards a new year, where is everyone? Hi everyone,

Where is everyone? This used to be the most fantastic team of very motivating people. What has happened? Maybe you have all reached your goal weights and are busy with what life is bringing your way.
I am looking towards a family event in February and want to look my best! Can you all come back?!!
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and I hope the New Year brings you all you wish for. Sun, 27 Dec 2009 07:19:46 EST As we all approach 1 year on SP.... tell us how you are doing? Weight lost/gain? Any great things you have learned on this journey? Thu, 20 Aug 2009 12:12:26 EST Hello I'm Crystal from American Samoa Wed, 19 Aug 2009 17:09:46 EST Stepping down as leader- having heart surgery Mon. Hi All,

I'd already posted a message requesting a new leader for this team. At the time is was pretty straight forward - I seem to have become the sole "listed" leader and was dealing with some personal issue.

Now, I am headed in for open-heart surgery on Monday, August 17 for a double-bypass. Which pretty much makes leadership capabilities out of the question for me anytime soon. ASHARON has graciously and enthusiastically replied to my request for leaders. I'm assu... Tue, 11 Aug 2009 13:04:59 EST Anyone here want to be a team leader? Hi Team,

As we approach the one year mark of our being here, I realize I'm not really in the position (or proper frame of mind) to lead this team. (You've probably all noticed that already).

I was surprised to see that Jenn is no longer listed as a team leader, leaving just me. Jenn - you were terrific as a leader btw.

Anyway, as the topic implies - I'm looking for a leader (of co-leader) for this team. If you're interested, please drop me SparkMail.
... Wed, 5 Aug 2009 10:50:11 EST I reached my GOAL! WOO HOO! I reached my goal weight today and am so HAPPY!! I wanted to share the news with all my Spark Friends. I know it was good motivation for the new you one in Jan Sat, 2 May 2009 18:26:46 EST Team Roll Call!! Okay all... I'm curious. There are some 10,800+ members on this team. I would love to know who regularly checks in on this team. I'm hoping that it's many more than those who actually post. (Although my continual kudos to all of you regulars here - you are our "core"). As time passes, these "class teams" lose more and more momentum. Tue, 14 Apr 2009 14:35:00 EST Who's ready for another challenge?? Okay everyone ... it's been a while since the last challenge ended. You have been our official scorekeeper through all the challenges, and I'm hoping you will be for this one too. So I don't want to up and start a challenge without your cons... I've been spending a fare amount of time reading, learning and getting to know the SPARK site.

Okay, so my name is Kim, and I am just getting back to eating well again. Crazy, since i love good food, cooking and fresh fruits and veg. Laziness, i guess is why i went back to the crap for entirely too long. I still ate good foods, but had entirely too much garbage on hand. In a pinch i got back into the habit of grabbing the bad stuff for ... Thu, 25 Sep 2008 10:46:06 EST Motivation What is your weight loss motivation? What keeps you going on this journey? There are days I get up and just want to give in but I think of the impact I have on my daughter. Not only do I need to be around for her for a long time, but I need to teach her the right way to do things. I am a role model for her and if I am eating junk, that is what she is going to eat. Had I been taught how to eat only until I was full and not use food to ease pain or emotions, I may not be in this situation ... Tue, 23 Sep 2008 20:17:18 EST And the winner of the challenge is.... I'm from Kansas, have 2 kids (one in college-yeah!) I am recently divorced and changing my way of living. So far it's great! I am a professional driver, so yep, I sit on my butt a lot. I have been trying to walk as much as I can during the day, and at night I try harder! My main goal is to be 150% healthier by the time I turn 40 (in two years). I love dogs and animals, and my boxer (Polleigh) helps me meet my walking goals each day. Tue, 16 Sep 2008 20:01:37 EST What's wrong? so about 2 weeks ago, I was weighing in between 205-209 give or take. I haven't changed my diet, but picked up the pace when running (interval running), so I did a weigh in, and now I'm 215. I haven't started eating more, and I haven't slowed down running. What could cause this to happen? Tue, 16 Sep 2008 17:09:55 EST Are you having a good day? Yes! 41 Tue, 16 Sep 2008 12:07:15 EST "Exercise of the day" Does anyone know if there is a way to get back to previous exercises that were featured? What else should we know about you?

I don't really have too many hobbies, but I do like to Scuba dive. It is starting to get colder here in Nebraska and I have a feeling there are going to be days I just don't want to brave the cold for the gym. I keep a bunch of DVDs but would love to add to my collection. Some of my favorites are the Walk Away the Pounds, the Biggest Loser and the Yoga Booty Ballet. Mon, 8 Sep 2008 14:22:53 EST Tracking other nutrients Did you know you could track additional nutrients other than the basics SP shows for you. All you need to do is go into my nutrition and you should see a button that says "change nutrition goals" Click that and then click the button that says add another nutrient to track. It lists a bunch of other things you can track (vitamins, nutrients ect.) I suggest everyone track their sodium because that can really affect how your weigh in goes. :) Mon, 8 Sep 2008 00:21:42 EST hello newbie here hello all, im 34yrs, married to a wonderful man, we just had our first and only child, a girl, im here to lose weight to keep up to her when she starts walking and running and playing! Mon, 1 Sep 2008 21:42:59 EST Try something new I know for many of us this is the 10,000th time we have tried to lose weight. For some, it is a new experience. We are all in the same boat though, so I thought it would be a good idea to try some new things and share with each other. It may help to give someone a push to try something they have never thought of. So I am challenging everyone to try something new this week. Mon, 1 Sep 2008 14:56:43 EST Help with nutrition tracking :-o I've been tracking daily and going through the eating plan each morning and changing it as needed. However, I've noticed that there is no place to add additional "foods" consumed (i.e.~coffee creamer, extra milk, etc). One of my goals is to drink 24ozs of milk daily. I'm new to this, and joined because I need support while losing weight, but like the freedom to check in when I am able.

I have around 60 pounds to lose, but for now, the goal is to lose around 7 pounds per month or a little less than 2 pound per week. I may have to revisit that goal - I possibly set it too high, but at the same time, I want to challenge myself. I've seen all kinds of cool trackers - how do you get one of those?

Jenny Sat, 30 Aug 2008 10:15:16 EST Are you drinking all your water??? One of the most important changes you can make in your lifestyle is getting enough water into your system. If you currently aren't drinking water, you need to be. You should be drinking half your body weight in water. I know for many people that is very daunting, so I would start by aiming for 8 glasses a day (which I know can also be daunting). When I started, I didn't drink water at all. Now I am up to 20 glasses a day on some days! I don't know how I ever lived without it. There a...
