I had messages on here from late 2008. How things change over time, huh. I was living in upstate NY then, now I live an hour south of Seattle. I weighed about 25 lbs more than I do now. I went on my second tour of duty in Iraq (12 months yikes!) and paid off half of our ridiculous amount of debt. I hope I can find the time to be an active member of the SP community again, this place was really motivational and helpful when I actively u... I've been on SP since June 17, 2008 so I guess I need to reintroduce myself!

Hi. Mon, 11 Jan 2010 16:21:33 EST Weekly Challenge Sept. 21-27 (2009) Play a game outdoors at least once (more is great)!

This means going outside at least once this week and play tag with the kids, or buy a cheap horseshoes game and setting it up in your yard, or play hopscotch in your driveway. It can be as hard as tennis/water polo or as easy as marco polo. As long as it's some kind of outdoor game it's great. You can even make up your own outdoor game, but you have to tell us what it is (playing sit outside and watch others play is NOT an option... Sat, 19 Sep 2009 09:54:28 EST Hello, again Hello,

I joined Spark people last year and have been using it on and off for menu planning. Fri, 17 Jul 2009 11:22:41 EST What are yo doing for fun? Follow this link or copy and paste it into your browser for a nice reminder about how good it is for all of us to remember to have some fun. What have you done just for fun lately? Wed, 24 Jun 2009 07:23:40 EST Spark-iversary? Being the class of June 15-21, 2008, it seems to me that many of us should have Spark-anniversaries coming up. Mine is June 21 so I barely made it into this class!

Does anyone have any special plans for their Spark-iversary? How many of the goals you set last year at this time have you met? Have you accomplished more than you ever thought possible? I would love to hear about everyone's journeys! Sat, 13 Jun 2009 00:17:14 EST Great article I have a friend who writes for a living. And in my humble opinion, she does a very good job of it. Anyway, she just started writing for the Examiner web site. Here is her first article.

hy-Liv

Family health and fitness is kind of her "thing" so if you like her, please add her to your favorites and keep going back. I especially like how she refers to every day and sometimes foods.

Let me know what you ... Thu, 28 May 2009 23:53:28 EST Introducing myself after 11 months... Hi! I wanted to introduce myself, too. I never really got into the whole teams thing. (I also didn't use SparkPeople for almost six months.) I'm back into it now and really using all the website festures, except the teams and message boards. I can always use some support though! I seem to have reached a plateau at -10lbs. Anyways, just basically saying hi! Tue, 19 May 2009 19:22:54 EST HELP!! Ok so its great that its festival time in my area, it means summer is just around the corner. I am freaking out tho cuz we are going to one 2moro and well when we get there 2moro it will be time for me to eat. I am in desperate need of some semi healthy fair food options. I think last year it had ( i know this has gotta be super bad for me) italian sausage w/ peppers and onions, soba noodles (I am thinking this is my best option since everything else is deep fried and covered in sugar)and of ... Any encouragment would be greatly appreciated! Mon, 22 Dec 2008 16:22:42 EST Do one thing a day that is just for you & post it. I was thinking this morning that we all do fitness and nutrition for ourselves/family on here, but we rarely do little things for our own little smile each day. I will start with a post.

My one thing for today is that I put on some pretty eyeshadow. I rarely primp myself and just that little bit of shimmer gave me an extra confidence boost today as well as forced me to spend time on me.

268 Wed, 10 Dec 2008 11:29:58 EST How many login-points today 4 278 Mon, 1 Dec 2008 21:51:07 EST thanksgiving i hope everyone has a blessed day 43 Thu, 27 Nov 2008 09:20:15 EST What are your Holiday Traditions? Wed, 1 Oct 2008 20:20:18 EST Keeping up with Biggest Loser Families I don't know how many of you watch The Biggest Loser. I watch it and I love it. So, I thought perhaps I'd start a thread where people in our team who do watch it can discuss the episodes, can discuss how it has motivated them, or made them think about things. I never liked reality shows, but I love this one because it helps everyone on it. Even the teams that get voted off have the option of working their hindend off at home (in the type of atmosphere we have)and going back on the final show ... Tue, 23 Sep 2008 23:33:53 EST What was your last straw? Question stolen from another board!!

Just wondering what was your turning point? Been doing okay but now that I'm more familiar with the site, I feel more comfortable about joining a group and offering support to those who may need it and also coming here to gain support from others who may offer it. This seems like such a wonderfully rounded and well informed group which is a great thing. It is a very fancy hotel that must give cheap conference rates during 110 days in is paying for most of it. I'm having trouble finding water! Mon, 21 Jul 2008 09:52:34 EST I'm feel great today because..... I'm great today because I've stuck to it for a whole month now, I've lost 10lbs, and I got a new haircut. I went to Curves for a year and I did notice that my clothes were fitting better, but I wasn't seeing any weight loss. I may have lost 2 pounds over the course of the year. Some people have told me that I probably gained muscle.

So, it was a difficult decision to come to, but I decided to quit Curves. My intention was to join this gym closer to my home. I haven't joined the gym yet because my fiancé, who is also overweight, wants to see what the work out facilities at my apartment ... Fri, 18 Jul 2008 11:55:50 EST Saying hello for the first time! Hi everybody! My name is Jen, I'm a 27 year old teacher from Texas. I joined right before my husband and I went on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks, so I started today. I've done well on Weight Watchers in the past, but needed a fresh start. So far I'm hungry :(, but I know my body just needs to get used to eating less again. I look forward to meeting everyone :) Thu, 17 Jul 2008 17:37:01 EST Finally saying hi Just wanted to finally say hi to all the team members. I've been trying to learn my way around the site, whew there's allot to learn. Just started last week really tracking my food and deciding to be serious. Exercise will be my next big hurdle because of oh so many aches and pains (boring). But I'm getting going (slowly) and hope to soon be back to the active self I used to be oh so few years ago. My how time slips by and one realizes it's not as easy as it once was. I have faith that ... Tue, 15 Jul 2008 11:00:55 EST I've made a mental change... I was busy making myself 2 pancakes this morning using Jiffy Mix which only requires skim milk to make and I realized I hadn't even thought about using chocolate chips. Normally I wouldn't eat a pancake without some chocolate in it, but today it didn't even cross my mind until the pancakes were cooking and even then I just knew I didn't need them. I see this as such a big step! I'm finally starting to think differently about food and being careful, the journaling really helps! Mon, 14 Jul 2008 09:47:45 EST Energy Shakes/Drinks? First of all...a big Hello to everyone, just joined today and already having questions it seems...

Just wondering does anyone have any great energy shakes/drinks recipes that can really give you a charge!

Also..Have any great Breakfast Shakes/Drinks for a energectic quickie when there's no time for breakfast?

I don't favor V-8 because it's to salty and I'm beginning to stray away from the store brands...Just want something pure and natural that will do the job... Sun, 13 Jul 2008 18:25:00 EST Motivational Binder Okay, so I was lounging on the sofa and reading my fitness magazines (I'm addicted to Self, Fitness, and Shape)when I thought to myself, why not take the vision collage one step further? I don't know about you all, but I like certain articles out of magazines and spark, but I don't necessarily want piles of magazines stacked in the house because of one or two snippets of it. I decided I'm going to use one of my old three ring binders and put clear plastic paper holders in it with the clips of... Sun, 13 Jul 2008 13:50:33 EST Avoiding self-sabotage . . . Does anyone have any ideas on how to avoid self-sabotage? I have lost more than 15 pounds in the past six months, and I am just about to drop a clothing size. Usually, when I get to the point that it's a noticeable change (either when people start commenting on my weight loss, or when I drop a size), I backtrack and start to gain the weight back.

Obviously, I have some fears and issues associated with being a healthy weight. In the past, I have just thought, I am not ready to ... Sun, 13 Jul 2008 02:15:42 EST New here in Ohio My name is Traci from Ohio. Sat, 12 Jul 2008 21:56:29 EST Habit 3 - exercise consistently I assume many of us are working on habit 3 so thought it might be helpful to share how the week goes. This one is a real challenge for me - my endurance is low so options feel limited. I know I need to exercise more but I just hate it or feel incompetent. I have been doing weights at the gym for several months and I am feeling stronger - especially arms and core - but I am struggling with cardio. My gym offers a Nia class once a week which I like but can't always make it (Sat mornings). Not s... Sat, 12 Jul 2008 11:11:00 EST State of the Team Address Part 2 Good Evening everybody!

First of all, let me apologize for not being as interactive lately as I should be. I have had some major health issues including a trip by ambulance to the ER for chest and abdominal pains about 3 weeks ago. I am doing better now, but I am still trying to get back on my feet. Add to that that my business is starting to get busier plus being at home with a 6 year old and a 1 year old daily, and my life has been utter chaos LOL!

Second, it looks to ... Fri, 11 Jul 2008 23:36:11 EST What's your favorite exercise?? Just curious if you would all like to share your favorite exercise with the group, maybe we will get inspired to try something new that is working or being enjoyed by someone on our team.

My new found fav is def the water jogging. It's weight less, easy, burns lots of calories, fun and I can do it with my kids. Sun, 6 Jul 2008 22:14:28 EST I saw a recent photo of me... I've never been overweight. I've never had to 'diet'. That was always something someone else was doing. I saw a picture of myself taken last week. I had no visual understanding that this is the shape that I am in until now. I have a business convention to go to with lots of parties that we are invited to. Now I am so depressed and cried all night because of that picture. I'm just going to swear off food and get back to my old self. I can't do this weight thing. The trip is in 3 weeks. I was l... I know its almost so far out its scarey to say, but would love to see myself run in a mini or actual marathon someday. I am a long way from that, but if I were to do I would be really impressed with myself! Thu, 3 Jul 2008 08:22:48 EST Holiday Strategies ? I am sure everyone has been there, you are at a family get together and its time to eat. What choices are you going to make? I can hear Grandma in the back round "That's all you are going to eat?
