I don't know what my problem is.. I exercise at least once a day and I cut out all the junk food. I do drink diet soda but I lose the weight when drinking it so I don't think that is the problem. I drink well over 8 glasses of water a day too.. Any pointers would be great because I'm to the point that I'm giving up.. Fri, 27 Jun 2008 15:54:54 EST Hello, just jumping in here! Hi my name is Mandy. I'm a SAHM (most of the time) to two amazing kiddos, ages 3 and 10 months. I want to lose weight for them and for me. I'm also married to a wonderful man.
I've been working hard these last couple weeks. I do Turbo Jam every night. And use the Roberta Temes hypnosis CDs. I write my week's goal on our dry erase board and cross out the ones I meet every day. I feel like I'm finally kind of on track. Nice to meet you all! Fri, 27 Jun 2008 11:04:10 EST Just wondering if this counts I clean houses with my mom, all varying in the amount of time it takes us, but I was wondering if that counts towards some kind of work out. We do everything fast and efficient, and sometimes I sweat just as much, if not more than I do working out?? I know under the cardio tracker, it has heavy cleaning, but I guess I just wanted to hear it from someone else too!! (and I also work out after I get home from picking up my daughter from daycare after work to make sure I get those calories burned... Wed, 25 Jun 2008 20:28:52 EST Congrats Team - we're 1 month in! Since today is June 25, 2008, it has been a month since we all started here on SparkPeople and if you are reading this, chances are you are still on it. I've been increasing my exercising, walking a lot, eating less, and I can tell a difference.

Now, my husband has decided that he's going to get into shape, too. He has been walking to work (1.2 miles uphill), then home for lunch, then back to work, then back home, so his walking is 4.8 miles if he walks all day. Sometimes he gets a ride one way or another, but he's enjoying the walk AND he says his jeans fit looser. I like to th... Mon, 23 Jun 2008 11:34:11 EST My quest to conquering my addiction to fries!!! French fries are my biggest downfall and they are absolutely terrible for my thighs!

How do I cutt off thte fry intake? They always win...they always say eat me, eat me! When I order a sandwich instead of a burger, they ask if i want fries or pasta...what do you think I order?

Ahhhhhhh! How do I overcome this thing?

I'm not an daily, obsessive fry eater, but when they cross my path or become available, thats when i get into trouble.

112 Fri, 20 Jun 2008 12:19:39 EST another new teammate! I am pretty quiet and reserved and I feel like I am really exposing myself. But I am ready to make some changes so I am willing to step out of my comfort zone, just wondering how many others might feel or have felt the same way? Tue, 17 Jun 2008 21:50:20 EST New Classmate Hi all, here to lose 40 to 50 pounds. Best of luck to everyone!! Mon, 16 Jun 2008 18:47:49 EST Have I hit a wall? My husband has this expression about when your brain or body just can't continue anymore. I woke up this morning feeling run down and completely out of energy. I feel like my body has hit a wall. I feel like I just can't go on anymore today. Is this normal for the beginning of the fourth week? I just want to go back to bed and pull the covers up over my head. Sun, 15 Jun 2008 14:59:34 EST Burning Calories Is it true that you have to burn 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound? Thu, 12 Jun 2008 19:44:33 EST Glad To Join The Team Hi, I am new and is excited about Sparkpeople and joining the team. I married and mother of 3. The kids are all off to college, which give me more time to focus on maintaining a healty lifestyle. I love to work out and run about 4 times per week. Thu, 12 Jun 2008 17:13:16 EST "Share it not wear it" I thought I would share this quote with some of my other SP Teams. I belong to the Emotional Eaters team and a team mate was having a stressed out morning. She posted a statment on our board for support. She described her morning and how she really wanted to eat the stress away put was trying not to give in. At the end she said "I just wanted to SHARE IT NOT WEAR IT". I thought this was a GREAT motivational statment. I wanted to spread the word.
212 Thu, 12 Jun 2008 09:30:14 EST Any Suggestions? Hi-I am getting a bit frustrated. I have been on Sparkpeople for two weeks now, just moved to Stage 2 yesterday. I am logging everything and staying at an average of 1300 calories a day...and in the range for calories, carbs, fat, and protein. I go to Curves 3 days a week and in between I try to walk, garden, or run around with my kids. I don't drink all 8 glasses of water but do drink at least 5-6 every day. I have only lost 1 1/2 pounds. I used to be able to lose weight rather easily ... Wed, 11 Jun 2008 10:26:06 EST Is it just me? I really feel like this should be simpler. Tue, 10 Jun 2008 12:59:58 EST Just had to share I am working on getting that eight cups of water daily (which is difficult for me...I'm just not that thirsty.) After I got my 30 minutes of cardio tonight, I obviously needed some water. I drank two cups really quickly and when I went for a third, my five year old daughter asked if she could have a cup from the cabinet. I gave her one and she filled it up "just like mommy". She said, "I am going to drink this water to be healthy like you." 246 Doesn't that make you smile? K... Sun, 8 Jun 2008 23:04:28 EST Wow, What a difference! Hi, my name is Luke and I joined the site in hopes of finding more accountability in my pursuit of becoming lean. Looking foward to burning away the pounds together.Let's get going. Mon, 2 Jun 2008 09:04:59 EST Hello! Hello, My name is Frances and I live in Missouri. Back in Sept. of last year I was diagnosed with heel spurs. I was already thinking of trying to lose weight one more time but after this I decided I HAD to lose weight. Less weight on feet has to equal less strain on feet!? Anyway, I have lost almost 20 pounds since that time. Recently I hit a wall and gained 2 pounds back. I am going to get rid of it though! Mon, 2 Jun 2008 06:29:30 EST Hello everyone!! I'm just getting started far so good...I hope this keeps me motivated! Mon, 2 Jun 2008 01:05:36 EST I'm Off and Running... Hi everyone. I wanted to introduce myself to the team. When a friend introduced me to SP, I thought great, here is a way for me to be accountable for everything that I do. So I'm trying this out and I'm hoping that by t... I work Wednesday-Friday (lucky me). I lost 35lbs last year on Weight Watcher's and sadly, due to an injury, I've gained 10Lbs back. I still attend Weight Watcher's and I'm thinking of joining a fitness center. I loved the way I looked and felt last summer and want that again. Besides I can't fit into my clothes!!! Going to start tomorrow.. hubby starting too! Hope to make some progress! Sun, 1 Jun 2008 20:09:09 EST What's the Deal, Vern? Today, I was comparing SP's calorie count to the actual calories on a box. While the box said there were seven SERVINGS, the cooking instuctions gave a PORTION ratio: 1 Portion = 1/4 box.
What's the deal, Vern?
To me "portion" is a soft, yet heartier word. A "serving" sounds like something more decadent and cold. If I wasn't in my new "spark" frame of mind, I'd probably go for the portion!
IS there a difference between a serving and a portion?
