I just started this last week and I have to say I was so excited to see that there is a Harry Potter group on here- I've loved every book and re-read them all the time!

I'm 28 and my goal is to lose at least 40 lbs by my birthday in June. I used to go out and buy myself a new pair of shoes or get a new hair cut for my birthday but this year I decided to invest in myself and give myself the gift of a longer, happier, healthier life.

My name is Monique and I LOVE the Harry Potter series. I bought them for my daughter when she was a wee thing and we read them all out loud to each other. I remember long days in comfy clothes snuggled up in bed together reading the books to one another. I did not expect to love the books but after the second one I was as hooked as she was.

It is great to know that is a group for us. Personally I started my treck through the world of Potter by seeing the 3rd movie in Rome with my roommates, most of whom had already read the books. I was hooked and within weeks I had to see the first two movies and start reading the books.

Maybe I've missed it, but I haven't noticed Harry Potter influencing the stylists and designers in a big way. What's with that?

Someone posted "Quick Quotes Quill" on one of the game boards which is what made me think of it. I've always had a bit of an aversion to feathers in fashion, but I wouldn't mind a summer hat with a quick quotes quill stuck in the hatband.

I've honestly lost count of how many times I have read this book. Each time I do, I find something else that just doesn't jive with the rest of the HP Universe.

One of my issues with this book is the wedding. Harry takes an "extra large dose" of Polyjuice Potion.

I'm a mom of 6, step-mom of 2. Until a few months after book 7 came out I was a moderator on a Harry Potter dedicated website known as potterskeys. I stopped because they closed down the site. Special thanks to DEUCE119, who left a message on my blog and, upon visiting her SparkPage, I discovered this team!

I have been a Sparker since February, 2008. My introduction to Spark was through a Duran Duran team and I have slowly, but surely been finding teams that pique my interest. Right now, my weight loss goals are set aside while I recover from breast cancer (surgery is in 2 weeks). While exercise is limited at this point, I have been (mostly) watching what I eat. :)

If you get the chance you've got to go to the Harry Potter Exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. It is Excellent! Costumes the actors wore, many objects - the diary with the basilisk fang in it, Harry and Ron's beds, Umbridge's pink cat plates. It was well worth the trip. As I'm sure most of you know, they are currently filming part 1 of the "Deathly Hallows" movie, and I've been keeping up with the various set pics that trickle in. Last week they filmed most (possibly all) of the Shell Cottage scenes, and we got our first glimpse of Bill Weasley!

Now that spring is here, are any of you planning on adding to your herbs or planting your first ones?
I have Thyme, mint, chives and beebalm thriving already. So far, Rosemary has defeated me but I am trying again this year. Mine are planted outside my kitchen so are quick to gather.
I would so rather have fresh herbs to gather and dry than have to purchase all of them. What do you think?

Advice needed

I want to buy an exercise gadget I can use while sitting down (right now my feet hurt too much to walk as much as I'd like). I'm torn between two -- a pedaler and a stepper. Either can be used while sitting in a chair (knitting?). The stepper is $5 less than the pedaler, but I really don't know if there's much of a difference otherwise.

Does anybody have any input? Probably just about everybody knows more about this than I do, and I'd appreciate the help.

We all have things that scare us about weight-loss and losing weight and tempt us into eating things that are bad for us and not exercising, etc. What if these things turned into a boggart, what would yours be??

I think mine would be chinese food LOL seriously, I have no problem staying away from fast food, or getting on the elliptical every morning, or not drinking pop, but I CANNOT get away from chinese food!

A few years ago I was a Hogwarts professor for Halloween (black business dress, witch hat and a name badge that said "Professor ______, Incantations 101" over the school crest). I have been teaching myself to knit for a couple months now, and i finally finshed a hat i've been working on since day one!
