At first, I didn't think he was a husky but when the owner came out and I spoke to her, she told me that he is a husky! He looks more like a Spitz because he's all white! But the clue is, he has a typical husky tail, Spitzes have curly tails, but huskies have straight tails with longish fur. She told me that Ceasar (his name) is a very rare breed. He has got the typical husky blue eyes but he has a black nose and black eye rims, and he's all white, like I mentioned earlier.

Most hu... But still, the owner must be heartbroken now.

Huskies are v. v. expensive in Malaysia, close to 5 grand! (in Malaysian currency).

I saw some posters with the husky's picture on them. I hope they find him/her soon! Mon, 31 Oct 2011 11:28:36 EST Do huskies howl in general instead of bark? My neighbour's husky has this adorable little howl. He doesn't bark, he kinda goes "Aroooo rooo roooo". Is that normal for a husky? I've never owned one before and I don't know much about them. Sat, 22 Oct 2011 03:06:16 EST I have a new neighbour with a Husky! The husky's name is Jay, he's 8 year's old and he's soooo beautiful!

He is as big as a wolf! The thing is, he only gets walked late at night as that's when his owner comes home from work, so I can't hug him, I can only pat his head and parts of his body through the gate. Hello Everyone!

I was so excited to have seen this group! I've grown up with huskies in the family all my life and am the proud owner of my first husky, who is a handful at a year and half!! In my spare time, I volunteer with a local rescue, Texas Husky Rescue. I just hope I can learn, help others learn, and make new friends who also love this wonderful, beautiful breed of dog!

Kari Sat, 9 Apr 2011 17:35:22 EST Have any of your huskies had eye problems? Harley has to have a small growth removed from his right eye lid and a small red growth on his eye ball which you can't see unless you lift the lid up. The vet was not concerned about the growth on the lid but did want to send the biopsy of the one on the eye ball as it could be cancer.

Has anyone else experienced eye problems in their husky? I hate having him put to sleep but I know it needs to be done.

Thanks for any input you may have. Fri, 8 Apr 2011 20:08:21 EST Gardening Keiko's way Today was lovely and warm and i was fed up with looking at four walls , so i decided to take the dog outside in the garden and prune back some bushes , before the dog managed to catch her face on them . Well one thing led to another and we( the dog and i) managed to stop the invasion of the butterfly bush. By this time Keiko had me trained well, i cut off a branch and she dragged it about the garden at top speed. One wheel barrow full of branches, and a hot dog later we started on the wild ro... Fri, 1 Apr 2011 13:49:18 EST We have an intelligent dog now to train her humans Anyone else faced the problems that come with a rehomed husky. Keiko is our second dog, (bandit sadly passed away hense we rescued Keiko) She was rehomed and ours is her 7th home i think , She walks beautifully for just one person ( unless it is my son then she considers she is the alpha dog and drags him everywhere) Her favourite trick is to ignore my partner and argue with him.(brave dog) always getting in the last word.
We cant have brooms, vacumm cleaners washing baskets etc about h... Fri, 11 Mar 2011 00:40:27 EST My boy is a runner!!! Something clicked in early Dec. Maybe he got old enough to follow directions, maybe I am a more assertive pack leader, I don't know. But my boy is running 4-6 miles, 3-4 days a week. He loves it! Of course we lunge at the occasional squirrel, insist on saying "hi" to whoever whenever he can sneak it in, but I tie his leash around my hips, his ears go back, he is focused (mostly) and ready to run. I am so excited!!! Yea! Mon, 24 Jan 2011 12:40:52 EST My husky just killed my neighbor's cat... My neighbor's cat got in my yard and my husky killed it. He came in with bite marks on his nose so we knew he got into something. I feel so bad my neighbor was crying outside my fence and I let her husband into the yard to get the cat. I just hugged her as I didn't know what to say or do! Has anyone had this happen to them? I bought her some flowers and a bottle of wine. I feel terrible. 46 Mon, 12 Jul 2010 15:41:21 EST anyone show their huskies? I went to help setup for a Siberian Husky Specialty Show last week. Then I went to watch the show for a little while. I had never experienced something like that and was just amazed by it. I met some great people and their dogs.

I'm wondering if anyone shows their Siberians and if you could explain how you got into it,how you trained, and how showing works? I watched but didn't really understand what was going on. Mon, 17 May 2010 09:21:33 EST Socialization I was just wondering what types of things all you fabulous Sibe owners do to socialize your beauties?

Today was our first local festival/parade for the season. We have taken our 2 year old Siberian, Maya, to festivals, parades, carnivals, name it ever since we got her. So, today was her third appearance at the Lilac Festival & Parade. Sat, 15 May 2010 20:04:15 EST My 3 1/2 yr old Husky Died and I'm Devastated... My husky Kali died March 25 2010, and since her death I've been depressed and all I can think about is her. We also lost our 12yr old lab almost 1 month to the day that Kali died. We lost our two dogs in one month. My husband and I don't have children and we considered her and our Lab as our kids. They were/are everything to me and I just don't know what to do now. Has anyone ever lost a Husky, if so how did you move on and try to enjoy day to day things eventhough there gone? Fri, 7 May 2010 14:30:17 EST Hello from Alabama Hi all! I own 4 lovely Siberian Huskies and probably more to come. I just had my 1st 2 litters of puppies, a week apart, 1 set was born Valentines Day! The cutest little solid white longhair(from 2 shorthairs no less) is going to my best friend from High School in Georgia. I am in Alabama and I can definitely agree, you can't stop at just one.

I have my heart set on an AKC Dark Copper Female puppy but haven't found the right one yet!!

Sun, 25 Apr 2010 22:18:42 EST Dog food question! What do you all think of that Blue Buffalo dog food. I thought about switching Jackson to it because he only weighs 45 lbs and is 3 years old. I feed him purina little bites right now because he thinks hes as small as my sisters Japanese Chin. I just want to get the best that I can for him. Please let me know what ya'll think. Thanks Thu, 18 Mar 2010 11:08:08 EST What does the Husky board think? I was thinking about this because this topic has come up a lot lately. I am curious to see what the board think of the statement "Huskies are not for first time dog owners?"

Hubby thinks its a load of crap. I think there's some validity to it. While I think that there's no right or wrong answer since each dog and each person is different, who knows what the outcome could be. At the same time, huskies, in my opinion, will take advantage of any owner who allows them (the huskies) to ... Tue, 23 Feb 2010 08:47:08 EST Stressed out about my Dog and seizures I just wanted to talk about this because it's just stressing me out. My girl has seizures and they occur at random times. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. They occur anywhere between days apart to 6 months. Though I think they are increasing in frequency right now. I unfortunately think that we may have to go to meds soon. :(

I know it's not the end of the world, but it's still scary watching her go through that. Mon, 22 Feb 2010 21:50:52 EST Rollerblading with Huskies Anyone else crazy enough to attempt this? I do this all the time with my dogs in the summer. They absolutely LOVE it! Not to mention it makes me a happy momma as it tires the right out :D Mon, 22 Feb 2010 11:45:21 EST Hello from Chicago! Mama to 2 huskie furbabies! Hey everyone! I am an avid husky lover! I wish I could get him looking fluffy like some I have seen all brushed out. Always eager and never says no. As a rescue dog, I don't know her complete background, but I have reason to suspect she was abused. She is not a talker and while she loves people as a general rule, it doesn't take much to scare the darling girl. She is the light of my life and I look forward to the day when I can play with her, running and chasing, for longer than 30 seconds. Fri, 4 Jan 2008 10:31:37 EST Hello, Everyone! Hi, Gang-
I have 2 Huskies and 1 Bichon Frise - all females. Sasha, China and Brigette have the run of my home... I can't imagine life without my babies! In addition to my two biological daughters, all of my children keep me busy. 30

I joined Sparkpeople in July but only recently started actively using the site. It really is a blessing in my quest to get in better shape.

Wishing you all luck and success in meeting your individual goals! Thu, 3 Jan 2008 20:43:05 EST CHEWING PROBLEM-HELP! My dog is driving me nuts. He's 2, but he's chewing on my other dog's ear. He does it when he gets wound up just to play, just because the other dog is getting more attention, and sometimes wonder if it's an attempt of dominance, which isn't working...
The problem is, when it gets cold, my older dog comes in with icy ears, he's had scabs in his ears from where the young one has pierced them, he holds the ear carefully like it hurts sometimes, they've fought over it a few times, but the p... Tue, 25 Dec 2007 15:07:10 EST Hello! I just thought I'd drop in and say hello real quick. I just joined yesterday, and haven't had much time to look around.

I'm a proud Husky mama of 2. (well, the vet is pretty sure one is just a straight wolf (he's 8) and one is a husky/wolf mix! (he's 2)) Hope to get some pics of them on here soon! Fri, 21 Dec 2007 17:49:51 EST Hi Everyone Just found this team. I currently have a Rottie/Beagle mix but my first 2 dogs were both Siberian Huskies. I had Blu from the time I was 4 until I was 13 (she died of cancer). And I had Sheeba from the time I was 14 until I was 29. She died a year and a half ago. I have a picture of her on my page. They were both very docile, loving dogs. Very loyal, too. Thu, 29 Nov 2007 22:06:58 EST Hello! Hi I am new to the group, not new to spark. I was browsing groups and was amazed that I had missed this one before.

My love of huskies was bred into me. My mom has wanted one her entire life. We were going to get one but she was diagnosed with arthritis and did not think she could handle one. We ended up with a Shih Tzu. This was quite a while ago.

I got married last year and inherited a mini scnauzer mix. Not quite the same as a husky, lol. My husband grew up wi... Wed, 14 Nov 2007 17:11:44 EST Sled Dog Races We have lots of races here in Alaska, all north of Anchorage for the most part. The next big one is the Yukon Quest that starts in Fairbanks this year Feb. 9 and finishes in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory Canada.

I know that northern Minnesota has races, and definitely in Norway. Any of you have races near you? Wed, 7 Nov 2007 14:30:26 EST Exercise - Why Dogs Need It I ran across this article and it had some good points. Our dogs need exercise for many of the same reasons we do!

Exercise - Why Dogs Need It

Canine Behavior Series

A dog whose exercise needs are met may rest more calmly at home and be less fretful when left alone. The modern dog-management mantra of "A good dog is a tired dog" is gospel to many people. Exercise can improve bone and joint health. Heart and lung function can impro... Mon, 5 Nov 2007 17:29:45 EST Couldn't help but join - Frank and Zeke made me I'm guessing we probably have the craziest pair of huskies of all of you. We got them when we lived in Fort Yukon Alaska, above the Arctic Circle, and still have them 4 years later here in Ketchikan (way south) after being in Kotzebue (northwest coast). They love it here because every weekend we go out into the rain forest to run. They grew up living outside, even when it was 60 below. In Kotzebue they lived in a pen and could escape from the chain link almost at will. They live on the d... Sat, 3 Nov 2007 19:12:34 EST Hi i'm new! Hello spark people!! My name is Carrie, and I have two mallamutts (as my hubby calls them)Mya and Kelly. They are 2 years old. We have one husky/lab mix named Nikki that we got from the humane society. She is a beauiful cream color. The pic I posted is not great of her. She looks like a ragamuffin. Check out my sparkpage I posted pictures! I have been sorta training them for a year as a sled dog team up in Michigan. Nikki is my leader. She does great on trails, but get her in an open field, a... Fri, 19 Oct 2007 15:00:00 EST Nibbling I have a weird question for all you huskey/mal owners out there: Do your dogs nibble on you? Bodie loves to nibble on arms, back, legs- he doesn't bite, it kind of tickles actually. I just think it's weird, I've had dogs all my life (he's my first arctic breed) none of them have ever nibbled. My sister-in-law has a pure bred Mal, he's not a nibbler. We've asked 3 differend vets about it and they have all said he does it when he's really happy-which is a good thing. It freaks non-dog people... Fri, 19 Oct 2007 10:03:14 EST Allergies, meds, shampoos, oh my! Just wondering if any of your pups have bad allergies and how you treat them? Our girl apparently has bad skin allergies in the spring/summer AND fall. She has been on medication (Prednisone and cefpodoxime) for a while now. She will lick her paws raw until they become infected, poor thing.

We were looking at allergy shampoos the other day at the pet store, Just curious if this is a breed thing, or just dumb luck on our girl's part.

If you have any tips or helpful aids ... Tue, 16 Oct 2007 17:00:41 EST Proud "mom" of a Malamutt new to SP Hi- I just joined SP this week. You can check out the handsome Bodie on my home page. He's a 6 year old Malamute/Chow???? He's one big furry bundle of love! Fate was smiling the day we found each other. I'm glad to be a part of a group that loves their dogs as much as I do mine! Sun, 14 Oct 2007 11:23:53 EST A sad case Dear Friends,

My neighbour's Husky has gone missing. He can't seem to find his way home after sneaking out the gate. He is only a year and a half old, still almost a puppy. Oh, I hope he's alright! Maybe found a nice new home. I hope he's not run over by a car or something! My neighbour is not making any effort to find him because he says he's got too many dogs (2, including the Husky went missing). He now has one dog left, the smartest one, according to him because she was the onl... Sat, 13 Oct 2007 09:51:05 EST Hello! I am new to the Husky group, but my wife has been in it for a while. Our "little" brown earth mover, Franki, is part husky, part sweetheart, and part terrorist. We love her anyway. Although she doesn't sing as much as she used to. Wed, 10 Oct 2007 11:38:23 EST hi! I didn't know there was a husky group! My boy is about 3/4 husky and 1/4 mally, and he's my best exercise buddy. :) Wed, 10 Oct 2007 10:46:06 EST Your dogs weight I am wondering where everyones huskies come in on the scale.

Yukon is a husky mix (mixed with what, is anyones guess), but his mother was full-blooded siberian husky. So he isn't big.

But sometimes I get concerned with how little he actually does weigh.

He has a vet apppointment tomorrow and I get a little nervous, this vet has only seen him once and Yukon only weighs about 50-55 lbs.

He does eat, not much, but that is his choice and he has alway... Wed, 3 Oct 2007 23:04:40 EST Chasing cats! OK, so another Sparker and I were chatting about our huskies and that they like to chase our cats. Has anyone else found some great solutions to help stop this problem? We have a "farm" -- two dogs and two cats -- in our house, but it is as much our cats' home as it is our dogs' place, and I would love to see the day when they can co-exist peacefully. Or even be in the same room and still hate each other. I know our husky just wants to play with the cats, but of course they don't know that wh... Wed, 19 Sep 2007 18:55:50 EST What brand and model vacuum do you use? We are looking into a new vacuum and would love to get one that is specifically designed to pick up animal hair. Our current vacuum would be good enough -- if we didn't have four little friends running the house. So, far we've seen Bissell and Dyson. The Dysons seems to be getting excellent marks when I looked them up via various Web sites. In fact, the Dyson looks too good to be true! Anyone have specific experience with either brand, or another suggestion that works well? If you have a Biss... Sun, 9 Sep 2007 17:10:26 EST Mushers? Skijorrers? How many of you take part in the sports our dogs were born to do? How many would love to start but don't know where? How many still just have one dog and don't think its possible?

Where do you get equipment? What kind of activities do you do? How often? Snow? no snow? Tips for beginners?

I started training with Crusher when he was a year, but have not really gotten anywhere as there is no where to really give him his head around here. We're moving to a place whe... Mon, 3 Sep 2007 13:47:16 EST Hey! w00t a husky lover team! Although I must say I'm suprised any of us need to be here with this type of dog. Mine at least keep me on my toes.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

My name is Candace and my dogs are Crusher and Onyx. They are siblings from consecutive litters from some BYB before I knew better. I love them to death though. I'm also thinking about fostering dogs for a rescue group up here that deals with a lot of northern type dogs. So ummm. ya... Sat, 1 Sep 2007 00:10:52 EST My husky cut his paw I was just looking for some advice. My fiance called me at work yesterday and told me Damon had a cut on his paw. I couldn't tell how bad it is because he puts up such a fight when I try to touch it... he won't let us clean it and he won't let us bandage it. Does anyone have some good advice for treating this, or should we just spend the $100+ and take him to the vet for something I could take care of if he wasn't so protective? Are there any home remedies that will work for a dog on keep... Thu, 30 Aug 2007 07:52:51 EST Product Recommendati ons/Training Tips My husky is super hyper and just chewed through her walking harness yesterday and always gets out of her seat belt harness when we're in the car. Any tips on a new walking harness and/or car harness? She also cries every morning when I'm trying to get ready for work. We have neighbors that I don't want to bother, so any tips on keeping her quiet besides giving her something to chew on? Any ideas would be great, thanks guys! Mon, 20 Aug 2007 15:48:10 EST to husky lovers I couldn't resist this team. I have two huskies, both from the pound. Cameron came first about 5 years ago, and then Kiko this winter. Both great dogs. I can't imagine life without a husky now! It's great to see the Sparks encouragement and husky talk all in one place! Thu, 16 Aug 2007 08:34:17 EST Hello! Just started today, and was browsing around and found this team! I have a Siberian husky as you can see on my page. She's super hyper, but we love her! Wed, 15 Aug 2007 18:38:14 EST Hi to all the husky lovers here I just wanted to stop in and say hi.I just joined this group today.I joined sp in July 06 and lost 15 pounds, then got lazy about it and gained it all back.I'm back now to try and loose this weight for good.
I have a husky named Kira who is about 9 years old.She was a stray when we found her 4 years ago.Now she has congestive heart failure so she takes alot of meds but still loves life.I never thought I wanted a husky but she stole my heart and we kept her when no owner came forward.I l... Mon, 13 Aug 2007 23:39:26 EST Do you ever let your Husky run free outside? I've read so much about how you are to never let your Husky loose outside and wondered if anyone ever had any success at it?

We are trying to save up to have our two acres fenced so our dogs can run free outside the kennel, but everything I have read seems to point that they will either jump over or dig under fences.

What is your experience?

113 Mon, 13 Aug 2007 13:52:40 EST I can't sleep.. My husky, Damon, takes up the ENTIRE bed!!! My fiance and I wake up at least twice a night asking the other to move over because the dog has taken over... We kick him off the bed, but at some point he just jumps back onto the bed and it's a constant circle.

I just went out today and bought him a large dog bed, just for him!!! My question is, how do I get him to use it?! How do I introduce him to it and let him know it's all his and that he's no longer sleeping in my bed?!? It h... Donna Fri, 6 Jul 2007 09:55:43 EST Word bubbles? Does anyone else feel like they can read word bubbles over their husky's head?

I caught Holly sniffing up at the counter the other day and she shot me a sideways glance and I swear I could see, "Aw, shoot! She's looking!" And one day I had her sit for something and it was, "Ugh, what a pain. Why do I have to sit for this?"

I'll have to keep track of future word bubbles, but seriously, sometimes it's like reading a comic book looking at her! Thu, 21 Jun 2007 00:36:40 EST Thought I'd introduce me and my beast! Hi there! It's fun to hear from fellow husky-owners! I'm the only one around that I know...

I got Haleakala for Christmas 2004. I have wanted a dog FOREVER but never really knew what I wanted. My boyfriend Bryan bought her (shame on him!) from a pet store on Christmas Eve. We like to go to Colorado and hike and go mountain climbing and thought it would be fun to name her after a mountain. Ick. 8yr old Sibe last month was her physical, Dr. recommended Glucosamine and Chondrotin.(sp?) No bladder problems.

We have tried everything. Mon, 30 Apr 2007 10:43:20 EST A rant about irresponsible pet owners I have lived in the same exact neighborhood my entire life and never once worried about anything happening to me, but apparently I need to worry about my dog! I take my dog Isis for a walk every night when I get off of work. Well last night a lady let out her two boxers in the front yard without a leash. Next thing you know both dogs are barrelling towards Isis and attack her. The thing that makes me so mad about everything is the lady just stood there while I tried to fend off her two dogs (... Wed, 25 Apr 2007 14:07:22 EST Still love my Husky Hi, I'm new to the group. We had the smartest, most beautiful baby girl in the world. I could go on and on about our little boobers for ever. Sadley we lost her to Cancer at the age of 7. That was almost 9 years ago now. We just couldn't get ourselves to get another one. No other husky would take her place or ever come close to her personality. So instead after a few years we rescued a mix breed that doesn't have a bit of Husky in him. We love him, he's our dog... but that's what the problem ... Mon, 9 Apr 2007 01:07:21 EST Got One! Hey guys!

Just wanting to let you know my search is over!
