Sun, 29 Jun 2008 11:11:57 EST Days of the week In some respects, being retired the days all run together. It's taken me until just recently to be able to remember what date it is each day and re-orient to that (not important anymore?) so I feel more connected. I'd like to know more about how various seniors spend their time.

My days generally go something like this:
Get up around 7:00 to 7:30 a.m. make the bed, brush my teeth -- then either me or my husband goes to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. I love the flavored kind. We both invariably turn on our PC, although his is a laptop. After checking our mail, we have our first cup of coffee. If the weather permits I enjoy drinking mine out on the patio, perhaps taking the time... Sat, 3 May 2008 14:09:13 EST Hi Hi I'm Dennis and new to SparkPeople. I retired a few years back and I'm interested in talking to some other retired folks.
Hope you'll come by and visit my page sometime. Sun, 27 Apr 2008 15:53:25 EST April Chat Room We're such a quiet group here I'm not sure how much use this room will get, but let's give it a try. You can just pop in and say a couple of words, or you can use it to vent, let us know how things are going -- use it however and whenever you want. It can be a lot of fun if we all participate.

My stomach cramps have finally left, I'm still bloated and my weight on April 1 is heavier than it was on March 1 -- that didn't bring a smile at all.

I weighed in at 155.4 this ... Sat, 1 Mar 2008 15:42:00 EST What did you have to eat? So..... what did YOU have to eat this morning?

For me this morning it was a sort of fruit/protein drink that I make by combining coffee/milk/banana/protein powder and anything else that sounds good to me at that particular moment. At 150 calories it's not bad and really fills me up.
9 Mon, 11 Feb 2008 11:12:27 EST Busy Times Ahead Well, gals, I talked to my daugter last night (she lives in Las Vegas). She has been talking for years how she'd like to have breast enhancement, and now she is finally going to do it. In Costa Rica of all places!! And guess who gets to baby sit while she's gone? It will be stressful to say the least as my grand-daughter is 16, thinks she knows it all, and has a very sarcastic mouth on her. At 5'9" she also towers over me!

Anyway, all this isn't taking place until March 10, whe... Mon, 4 Feb 2008 19:49:19 EST Hi Everyone I joined 1/6/08. I have been retired since 2004 and love it. I am only 4'8" and a young 63. It seems like I have been dieting for practically all my life. I know it is what and how you eat foods. I am very upbeat, positive, and down to earth person. I would love to be part of this group, plus being supportative and helpful. 213 Wed, 30 Jan 2008 17:20:08 EST Let's Play! OK, play time -- who wants to tell what the very worst (or fattening) food was that they ate?

I'll start: at a company dinner last week I had chocolate chip cookies and "Cookies n'Cream Ice Cream" for dessert. Someone else brought it, so I couldn't turn it down, could I? lol

Eve 246 Mon, 28 Jan 2008 09:28:41 EST February Challenge OK gals, didn't receive any feedback on this, so I'm just making up the February Challenge on my own. You can submit ideas for March, April, etc.

For February Only:
1) walk for 30 minutes 3 times per week
2) days you don't walk, exercise at least 15 minutes
on other types of exercise than walking.

With this challenge hopefully we will lose some serious pounds. Sun, 27 Jan 2008 16:07:25 EST Monthly Weigh In Hi agreed we will have a monthly weigh-in and it will be the first day of the month (even April, and let's not have any April fools on there!)

To get us started I'd like to state that my weight right at the moment is 155.4, so I'll see if I can get that down a bit by the 1st of February.

See you all then. If you want to post your weight as of now, that's great. Then we can show how we've progressed. I'll do the paperwork, you guys can just relax.

... Sun, 27 Jan 2008 15:57:40 EST Daily exercise Yesterday I told myself to quit cooking, cleaning, drawing, gardening, etc and go into the exercise room. I did. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.0 mph and 20 minutes of strength training. I felt so proud of myself.

I thought when I retired I would have all this excess time? What I have done is fill my days so full I am as busy as when I was working. I have to squeeze in exercise to my dance card instead of half heartedly exercising a few times a week.

Here's wha... Sun, 27 Jan 2008 12:52:00 EST Favorite Foods I know we all have old standbys in the food department. What's yours? Do you serve breakfast for dinner when you're in a hurry? How about chili, do you make it with ground beef or ground turkey? And...last but not least, what ingredients do you think comprise a GOOD tossed salad?

Eve 220 Thu, 24 Jan 2008 19:50:40 EST Lazy Day Today I didn't do much of anything. Kept my PJ's on all day and just enjoyed myself and my various activities. Do you have days like this? Tell me what YOU do.
220 Thu, 17 Jan 2008 20:19:05 EST Introduce Yourself Here Hi -- I'm Eve, age 69, living in Arizona. Have been retired now since 2002 and loving it. It was kind of hard to get into a new routine or way of life at first, but now I'd really hate to have to be at a job at a certain time of the morning.
So tell me what you do all day with your time.....
220 Tue, 15 Jan 2008 18:22:28 EST I love retirement I retired a year ago from the Federal Government. My husband is still working and has no plans to quit for a long time. We converted our garage into an exercise room/guest room/karaoke room. I either do a circuit training program or simply go for 30 minutes on my treadmill, elliptical, or bike. I also have a small below ground swimming pool and hot tub I get in daily. Sounds like I should be skinny but I love having dinner parties and fixing gourmet food. But now I want to get back in shape a... Wed, 9 Jan 2008 12:55:05 EST Join This New Team Hi!
