Reading a lot about it - tried it on area that would not ease in redness -itchy and no hair growth - (hot spot like without the sores to look at it)

This year seems to be a tough year for a lot of people. From the grim economic status for many to the Newtown attacks on innocent children. It is easy to be depressed, but I want to be thankful for my many blessings. So here goes..... I'm thankful for my family and the home that we live in. I'm thankful for those that I work with every day. I'm also thankful for the wonderful SparkPeople friends that I have met over the years.

Holiday Plans

Plans for the Holidays? Traveling with our little Bullies:. I think we would all love to bring our little dogs along on trips but it isn't always practical. Does someone have some suggestions to make boarding our dogs a little easier for both us and our Bullies?

I usually take a favorite toy for boarding. I think it helps her know I'll be back as soon as I can.

Hi my name is Jenna. I have recently bought a new English Bulldog. His name is Royce he is 12 weeks old tomorrow and he is weighing in at 19lbs already. My last English bulldog, Deezill weighed 85 lbs. I didn't want another bully that big bc he was so powerful he actually dislocated my shoulder on a walk. Tried this on our bully and found it does stop the ticks and fleas from staying on him but can take hours to kill them - put a few in a small jar and kept rechecking

Stairs an issue?

Csonka as a pup fell down one step into our deck area but caught his nail in the slider track and landed on his shoulder - since then he won't go down stairs.
Up at a funny jump then side stand then next jump up but no down even for snacks - we have a ramp in front entrance ( wheelchair used in our home ) he uses happily and a ramp for the vehicle

Scary part is he is getting to wide to fit the step after he jumps up and then turns and stands before he jumps up onto next step ...

Ears and eyes??

I rescued a old English Bull dog a few months ago and he is doing well now. But for the first 6 weeks he had to have antibiotics in his ears and and eyes even steroids for 2 rounds. Well even now I have to clean them and keep close eye on them. Any ideas. ? I have been told to feed him yogurt, but that does not seem to help any..

Well, I'm starting to see puppy Halloween costumes in the stores now. I saw one that had black and white stripes and said "Bad Dog" across the back. I'm thinking that one would be good for my little Bullie. I've had the pink Fairly costume with wings and a headband but I want a NEW one this year.

Didn't want anybody to think I'm snobby but it's been a busy couple of weeks since I've started back to school and I've already lost 2 pounds. My doggies have gotten a new work out schedule since the weather has been so nice. They now take walks down to are pond with me and been having a good time chasing the ducks and geese back into the pond. Hope to here from everyone else.

Has anyone noticed their Bulldog limping after playing catch? It has happened a couple of time now to my little girl. I don't see her getting hurt, but occasionally she will limp after playing and then with rest it goes away.

I have recently joined Sparkpeople and it looks like I found some people I can bond with. I have been "owned" by a bulldog for almost a year now. She was a rescue from a puppymill, her first five years were pretty tough so she spends a lot of time now holding down the comfy side of the couch.

I'm Becky, I live in Washington State (the green part) with my two bulldogs; Diesel (6) and Bailee (4). Both were adopted from Cascade Bulldog Rescue, of which I am now a volunteer for. I plan to re-start my focus on nutrition and try to get more exercise on a daily basis. So far, I'm moving in the right direction. The Holidays were great, but it is now time to refocus on a healthier me!

I can not believe I have lost 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks.

Hello, I have been a member of spark for 2 weeks and am still finding my way around. I am 54 and the proud mommy to 2 olde english bulldogges. CoCo Chanel is 3 and Lady Keeva is 2, they are my babies and I love them dearly.
I find it so funny that I watch their diet so they don't get too overweight and get hip problems, and here I am fighting to lose weight with hip issues LOL.

I've been doing atkins for the second time around for about 1 week now. I'm down 6 lbs so far! I have 4 wonderful bullies that are quite entertaining! I'm so glad i found this sparks team!! Yoda is getting neutered on the 19th...needless to say I have been freaking out and called the surgery center about 50 times to make sure they know about Bullies' elongated soft palate, etc. They use an IV catheter on the bullies, keep them in recovery for a good while to monitor them, then keep them overnight. He will be given an antibiotic shot and a pain shot.

My small issue is that two days after his surgery I am going out of town. I am leaving him with...

Bullies in the Summertime

I live in Louisiana where temperatures easily reach 100 degrees in the summer. Is it safe to walk a bully in that kind of heat?? Even when we take short walks (7 or 8 minutes) I feel like Yoda is getting so overheated. It takes him a good fifteen minutes to a half hour to stop panting afterwards. If you cannot take your bully outside how do you make sure he/she is exercising enough? Yoda has so much energy and our walks helped get some of it out.

I am greatly distressed. This past Tuesday afternoon my Sadie got into a fight - through a stockade fence, with a german shepherd. There were a couple of places in the fence that the shepherd had made holes that they bit each other through. Today the shepherd got out of its yard and jumped our fence to "duke it out" with Sadie. My names karen from the uk, i have 3 bulldogs a red/white called sampson, a brindle/white called jessie, and a very dark brindle with a bit of white on head he's called yogi (14 weeks old). My poor girl has been so sick for the last 4 days. All she pupped was liquid even a little bloody so i called my cousin in germany who is a vet ( cause the vet here has a 4 day weekend) and he adviced me to giver her some rice and cottage cheese. I did that and now it stoped. she has not pupped all day but it think its ok. she is aslo lookign so much better her skin issues cleared up and her fur is all shinny. Now that made me wonder if the IAMS food isnt the best we can give her. see over he...

I've only been on SP for 2 weeks now and I'm really enjoying it. I saw a "cat lovers" group on someone's spark page and wondered if there might be something for bullies...and here you guys are!
I have 4 bullies, Matilda, Chumly, Boris, and Willow. Willow just came to us from a woman who moved and couldn't keep her. She's doing fine, except for the fact that she growls at my other bullies and Chumly hates her. This will take time, but I hope we will soon be a one big happy family again. ...

My adorable Daisy has been sick for the past month with pulmonary edema. First the doctor put her on lasix and prednisone and when she didn't improve much he added an antibiotic. We have finally weaned her off prednisone and she's just on lasix but she started throwing up again. I'm so worried about my little girl.

The vet wanted Daisy to have soft palate surgery because it's too hard for her to breathe but the Bulldog specialist said that she is too old and it would be too dangero...

Wanted to see if anyone else has bullies with allergy issues. How did you determine the cause and how did you treat it? Lola has had gunk coming from her eyes and a runny nose since the summer started. Vet said allergies. She also started having itchy skin about a month ago and now has a yeast infection in one ear, which is also a sign of allergies. Environment related or food related?

I was wondering what kind of skin issues anyone has had with their bullies. I know that their skin can be very sensitive and I always bathe them with a shampoo from Earth Balance that has no chemicals, dyes or perfumes in it. But, Louie gets breakouts of acne on his chin. I think it is from rooting in dirt and stuff. Even though we always clean his face and wrinkles with baby wipes it doesn't seem to help. My Abby freaks out when the ceiling fan is on. I don't know why. She tries jumping up to bite it (obviously unsucessfully). Sometimes she barks at it if she just notices it is still up there.

She also hates it if I mop, swiffer or sweep the floors. Recently she has decided that I should not dust either. She will steal the cleaning implement and destroy it.
