Mon, 29 Oct 2007 11:47:41 EST Updates? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x14714x9760769 This team has been kind of quiet lately, which could be a good thing. That is if you're busy at a new job or getting out resumes. So, what's going on with you? Where are you in the job search? What are your plans at this point?

I have to admit I've been a little stalled. I have been trying to figure out what to do next. I need to just really send out the letters and make phone calls. I just had a cancellation today, so I have today to get to work.

Looking forward to he... Mon, 29 Oct 2007 11:02:58 EST Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x14714x9566115 Well, I am telling my current job goodbye today and starting something else on Tuesday. The new position doesn't pay as well, but I need something since this one only had like a week left anyhow. I can do this new boring job and keep looking for something better! Thu, 18 Oct 2007 11:00:41 EST Work Stress http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x14714x9432047 How about some discussion about stress and work? Thu, 11 Oct 2007 00:50:45 EST My introduction http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x14714x9422585 Hi! I am Stephanie and I am currently working for the USDA as a Biological Science Laboratory Technician on a 180 day contract. My contract is up on November 1 so I have been searching for the last month or so for new employment. I live in Wyoming so there honestly aren't that many jobs because there aren't that many people. Add to that the fact that the town we work in is 60 miles from home and that it is a college town and finding work becomes even more difficult. Lately I have been ap... Wed, 10 Oct 2007 14:41:50 EST CindiLP's husband http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x14714x9378918 Stopping by to offer encouragement. I'm CindiLP's husband (for those who are curious). She and I have been through some very difficult times. This team looks to be a great resource. Wish I had a resource like this (of course I had Cindi which is just as good! :0 ) the last time I was looking for work. Mon, 8 Oct 2007 13:41:13 EST Nyx's Introduction http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x14714x9369413 Well i've been job hunting since I finished College back in 2003, I've had a few freelance deals here and there that last a week or two, maybe even a month, but other then that I have not been able to get regular work.

For the past two years I've not even been able to get much in the way of freelance work (to many students out there under cutting my prices it does feel).

I work in the Graphic and Web Design field, but have also taught at the college level in Graphic Des... Mon, 8 Oct 2007 02:31:03 EST Job Seeker and Career Changer here http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x14714x9366878 Hi. My name is Shari Lu. I'm searching for a new job right now. I'm still employed. I'm a bank clerk. I absolutely love my current job, but the pay is so bad and the level of responsibility is so high that I just can't keep doing this. I'm doing management level work, but, I'm not getting promoted because my boss is afraid if she bumps me up one level that they will replace her with me a year later. So she won't promote me. Bank policy prevents them from bumping me up two levels. So ... Sun, 7 Oct 2007 22:14:37 EST Thank you for the invitation http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x14714x9349279 Thanks for the invitation, I think this team is what I need. I moved to this city two years ago when my son and daughter-in-law had their baby. I'm an on-line teacher with lots of credentials and a post master's work. With the move and with my spending more time with the baby and my on-line school becoming crazier, and I didn't realize that I wasn't liked by some important people (duh). I found out in December of last year that I wouldn't be rehired this year. Only I had lost sight of how... Sat, 6 Oct 2007 17:47:17 EST Inspiration and Tips http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x14714x9348261 This thread could be a good place to share motivating quotes, inspiring stories, useful information or facts about job search/career change, maybe recommend some books or articles on the subject, or some tips you've heard from others, etc.

This is a nice quote I got some time ago from SparkPeople. I think it can be applied to our "journey":

Be not afraid of going slowly; be afraid only of standing still.

- Chinese Proverb

Never giving ... Sat, 6 Oct 2007 16:18:59 EST What goals did you achieve today? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x14714x9346685 My father-in-law talks about not being able to steer a car until it starts moving. Even if its in the wrong direction, you can turn the wheel easier if you are moving.

So, what are you doing to start some movement towards your goals. Post here whatever you did towards your goal of finding a job or changing careers. Did you send out a resume? Look at job listings? Do some reading or study to stay current? Lets celebrate our successes however small or insignificant.
Cindi <BR... Sat, 6 Oct 2007 14:09:26 EST How are you making use of this in-between time? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x14714x9340324 During times of stress its easy to fall into patterns of stress eating and not exercising. How are you taking care of yourself and using this in-between time?

For me I have become obsessed about getting my walking and tracking my food every day. Its helping me to feel like I have control over at least one area of my life.
Another related topic, I'm working on planning and preparing meals for my family that will work when I am back working. I'm learning to use my Crockpot and... Sat, 6 Oct 2007 01:01:50 EST What is your dream job or career? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x14714x9334593 This is something I think I need to keep working on.

To start with:
My ideal job is one where I can use all my skills. I have a counseling degree, but also have been involved in pastoral care for more than 15 years. I want to help people experience life to its fullest. And I want to help them move beyond the obstacles they have encountered. I also want to be with them in the questions and struggles that life has presented.
Fri, 5 Oct 2007 17:02:07 EST Happy to see this new team! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x14714x9333800 Hi all! I got my way here after reading some posts at the "Panic Button: jobless and gaining weight" thread. Cindi, I'm so glad you created this team! I had previously posted something in the old thread, but saw this team and decided to move the post here:

This is my first post after about 3 months MIA from SparkPeople. I love this place!

I have a job right now (that's the good part), and it's not a bad one, but I'm ready for a change. I got a master's about a year ago,... Fri, 5 Oct 2007 16:11:09 EST
