Come join us to talk about career issues. SparkPeople Careers (Was Job Seekers and Career Changers) Team Messageboard I've Had It! My boss returned from a business trip to New York where she found out our group down here in Florida has a "reputation." I try to be proactive, identifying issues a few weeks out and letting sales know so they can resolve them before they affect our team.

Apparently, sales doesn't work that far out and and resents us letting them know something is an issue 2-3 weeks out. I cannot work at a place where being efficient and proactive is considered a liability.

I have a se... Mon, 23 Mar 2015 15:06:52 EST Where do you begin? So, if a person wants to make some changes, where do you begin?
Cindi Mon, 26 May 2014 12:21:14 EST How do you keep trying? I had another disappointment today...I was not selected for a new position in a different department at work. They promoted from within, and I am very happy for the young lady as we collaborate together. But I just can't keep doing this...getting my hopes up, only to see them dashed. It hurts too much.

It's coming up on two years since I graduated with my MBA and I feel like it was a complete waste of time and money. I haven't been able to do anything with it. Stay positive.
Cindi Sun, 8 Dec 2013 15:05:21 EST Is this still an active team? I see the leader hasn't been around for 60 days. Sun, 17 Nov 2013 08:32:01 EST Excellent book for resume writing! It's a very quick, fun, and highly informative read. The book is called "Signs of a Great Resume" by Scott Vedder. I went to a Recharge Your Job Search seminar and he was one of the speakers. Scott is on LinkedIn and Facebook. He worked in HR for a Fortune 100 company and by his count conducted more than 5,000 interviews. At the seminar he was able to take a quick look at my resume and offer a few suggestions I've connected with him on LinkedIn and he's been kind enough to answer a few ... I sent in an inquiry for my DREAM job earlier this week and I have not heard anything about it. I know that they got my stuff, but I don't know if they have looked at it. Fri, 27 Jun 2008 11:50:56 EST A little about myself Hello everyone! I am a former teacher who is looking for a new classroom to call her own. Much to my shock last July, after eight years on the job, my former school let the 3rd and 4th grade teachers go TWO weeks before we to go back on contract for the school year. To say the least, we were a bit shocked!!! I spent the last year, trying to pull myself together and subbing in the area schools. I have a husband and three young boys, so even when I did want to fall apart, I tried to keep my foc... Sat, 14 Jun 2008 14:22:28 EST Glad to be here!! Hi everybody, my name's Dressy and I'm a recovering compulsive overeater. I was so glad to find this group! I'm definitely a job seeker... and perhaps fate will have it, be a career changer as well. My training is in social work and I have my Master's and Bachelor's degrees (with honors).

I lost my admin. assistant job last October after 9 years loyal service, due to backstabbing office politics and a tremendously nasty HR rep who made it her personal agenda to make sure they ha... Fri, 13 Jun 2008 18:06:33 EST Looking after 50 yrs. Hi. I am a 55 year old woman with excellent computer skills, organizational ability and good work ethic. However, unfortunately no degree (B.A., college diploma, nothing) I find myself in a position of losing out on job opportunities to kids who are graduating from a 2 year college program in general business. I can't afford to go back to school and I don't think it would be a good investment if I could (as I would only have 8-10 yrs. to work and receive the benefit after 2 or 3 years of scho... There is a girl I work with that has been making several mistakes and I have been stuck picking up the pieces. She is equal to me as far as job title, but she is frequently caught acting above her station. I told my manager that it was bugging me and the rest of the staff. I want to encourage you to take the opportunity that the New Year provides to move forward toward all your goals. Weight goals are important, but other goals, too. Put away the chips and dip and start making plans of how you are going to reach those goals. Maybe its re-evaluating where you are today. Or its re-evaluating what you've been doing that might not be working so well. ... Tue, 1 Jan 2008 13:23:42 EST Happy Holidays I just want to stop to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season. I moved to this city two years ago when my son and daughter-in-law had their baby. I'm an on-line teacher with lots of credentials and a post master's work.
