I know that this website and the SP community will help me with this rather than trying to do it alone (that never seems to work). I am about 5'2" and have hit 239 lbs.(I weighed on the first of this year). This is the highest I have ever been. The last time I went to my GP my blood pressure was high and I was 22 lbs. less. When my weight is at a normal level, my blood pressure is fine. I want to get and g... Sat, 3 Jan 2015 20:37:21 EST Taking it serious this time Hello everyone! I am back to SP because I need to stay motivated and need encouragement on this journey. I just gave up on exercise and my health July 2013 due to personal reasons and went into a depression. Now I cannot believe how much weight I have gained not to name the other health issues it has created. So now is the time to do something about it while I still can. I am not a winter person and here in Central Panhandle of Idaho the winters can be long. But my husband and I love s... Sat, 3 Jan 2015 11:03:44 EST New Member looking for tons of support Hello everyone,

My name is Griselda and I am new to this site... I am very excited to start this path of healthier choices and a healthier life. Well one main issue I know I have encountered my whole life is the compulsive overeating habits I have. I think that's been the main reason of my being overweight, I have minimized it a bit but it is still a problem and it will probably continue to be a problem the rest of my life. However, I have learned to be open about it and let othe... Taking things slow and making changes slowly so that they will be long lasting. Sun, 28 Dec 2014 17:17:51 EST Hello From Halifax, NS Just stopping by to say hello. Hope all is well with everyone. Hello there! I was always walking 3 miles per day 3 years ago, and then became sedentary due to taking care of mother. The 50 #'s crept up on me again. If you don't have a supportive husband, and he doubts your efforts, get started like I did with a new girlfriend to walk in the park with. What a motivation and a blessing for 2015!! I am 52 and live in California. One reason I am on here is to lose weight and lower my blood pressure- high blood pressure runs in the family, so I have a good idea what I need to do to address it. Raised in a "don't add salt" environment, I count myself lucky to have made it to 50 without having an issue. However, I do have a huge sweet tooth, and the past three years have been very stressful, so ... I am determined to make it work this time: I'm 52, 100+ pounds to lose, not getting younger, and don't want to spend the rest of my life feeling sore, tired, sick, depressed, and generally just plain 'blah'. It's time for a change, and I'm feeling very motivated this time - I will do this! I know it will take time, I will slip up, it will go slow or even stop on occasion, but I will plug my way through every opportunity that comes my way! ... My name is Tammy and I have struggled with weight my whole life. I get discouraged easily, and reach for the worst foods to make me happy when I am down. I have tried just about every crash diet there is, but only end up putting the weight back on (or more!) within a short period of time. I have tried doing this alone for so long, now I am reaching out for support. I am eager , and excited to begin my journey with you! Sun, 27 Apr 2014 10:51:07 EST Hello my name is........ I am 57 and was diagnosed with high blood pressure before the age of 40. Am currently on two different medications for it - Atacand Plus and Coversyl. I try to remember to take readings twice a day - morning and night, but am not always successful. I use a wrist monitor and take reading in both wrist. This morning my readings at 8AM were for left wrist 121/71 and for right side 126/80. Want to lose weight to be heart healthy and so that I do not end up on 5 different BP meds like my Dad. Thu, 24 Apr 2014 12:27:13 EST Retirement and changing for the better Hi, I just retired on April 1. I had been having major problems with my blood pressure, and it started improving after I retired. I had more time for exercise, and cut down the salt and fast food. Better nutrition really seemed to be helping. I was feeling great until I slipped yesterday and had a big binge. I need to stop this now, I hope by posting this that I will get back on track. My life depends on this.

Cecilia Tue, 22 Apr 2014 10:19:12 EST ALMOST 60-LOOKING TO LOSE Hi,
I will be turning 60 this year and this is the first time I look at myself and think I am looking old on my face, with my belly fat...disgusting! I know this isn't dangerously high, but am concerned to be out of range for me. I am active, but about 50 lbs. over my ideal weight. I'm looking forward to getting to know yo... Fri, 18 Apr 2014 11:04:44 EST High Systolic/Low Diastolic Does anyone have this issue? I just read up on it online and it is a bad sign, leading to heart failure. I have 2 leaky valves which the doctor is watching closely. Recently my Systolic has been high compared to my Diastolic. Before I take my meds, my Systolic will be 160 but Diastolic is in the high 50s or low 60s. And my pulse rate is low, too. I am on Beta Blockers, so that explains why it would be a little on the low side, but the big difference in my other readings concerns me. One... Fri, 18 Apr 2014 10:54:22 EST Hi!
