SparkPeople HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE Team Messageboard To help each other with High Blood Pressure SparkPeople HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE Team Messageboard Learning more Hello - Went through a trying time this year and now I hope 2015 will be better for me. I have a sedentary job, but am interested in meeting new people who have the same interest and goals as myself. My main goal is to lose weight and to get my A1C numbers down through better eating habits and exercise even if the exercise is just walking at this point. Taking things slow and making changes slowly so that they will be long lasting. Sun, 28 Dec 2014 17:17:51 EST Hello From Halifax, NS Just stopping by to say hello. Hope all is well with everyone. I have returned to SP in the hope that much needed change will come this time around. I am at my heaviest (Last Weigh-In was October) 637.5 lbs. With this weight comes much discomfort & a host of health issues. I hope you will all support me in my journey as I will of yours. <BR> Sun, 28 Dec 2014 13:39:01 EST WANT TO SEE LESS OF MYSELF! Hello there! I was always walking 3 miles per day 3 years ago, and then became sedentary due to taking care of mother. The 50 #'s crept up on me again. If you don't have a supportive husband, and he doubts your efforts, get started like I did with a new girlfriend to walk in the park with. What a motivation and a blessing for 2015!! Hey, he is going to miss seeing more of me, but he is g... Sun, 28 Dec 2014 13:22:35 EST LightWalker555 I'm a Vietnam Veteran and a Reiki Master. Joined yesterday. Found out a few things I was doing wrong, of course. For some people even things like salads, apples and cherries can rise your blood pressure. So, we must watch everything we eat. That's why I walk 3+ miles a day. Yesterday, I walked 4.5 miles. Remember, getting your weight under control. Could mean lower blood pressure. My name is Tammy and I have struggled with weight my whole life. I get discouraged easily, and reach for the worst foods to make me happy when I am down. I have tried just about every crash diet there is, but only end up putting the weight back on (or more!) within a short period of time. I have tried doing this alone for so long, now I am reaching out for support. I am eager , and excited to begin my journey with you! Sun, 27 Apr 2014 10:51:07 EST Hello my name is........ I am 57 and was diagnosed with high blood pressure before the age of 40. Am currently on two different medications for it - Atacand Plus and Coversyl. I try to remember to take readings twice a day - morning and night, but am not always successful. I use a wrist monitor and take reading in both wrist. This morning my readings at 8AM were for left wrist 121/71 and for right side 126/80. Want to lose weight to be heart healthy and so that I do not end up on 5 different BP meds like my Dad. It is a local doctor that answers questions from viewers and has guests on to discuss certain topics. Last night the topic was heart disease. One of the guests was another doctor who recommends you take your blood pressure 3 times per day to see what the right numbers are for you. They shared that all people are not alike so blood pressure for you might not be the actual good one for another person. What are your thoughts on this?
