Metformin confusion http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x59165855 Hi Everyone, I have a question about Metfotmin. My doctor placed me on Met about a week ago for pre-diabetes and weight loss(I'm about 30lbs over weight). Has anyone had any success with weight loss? How long did it take you to see results? I know I won't see results as fast as I would like. Just some insight would be great. Thanks a bunch!! I used to ignore it or rage against it but now I try to listen when it tells me it needs more rest or healthier food or some exercise.

Happy PCOS awareness month!!! Mon, 3 Feb 2014 05:50:58 EST Hi Friends! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x136x56563014 I was diagnosed with PCOS at 19. At that point, the true ramifications weren't apparent. It's only now that my husband and I have decided we want to start a family that I start to understand the true nature of this beast. I'm nervous for the road ahead, but I think I have found doctors that understand this condition and will be extremely helpful as we move forward.

To take control of at least one aspect of this journey, I've started to put my full effort into losing weight. So far, all my labs are perfectly normal, which although is good, still doesn't explain why I do not ovulate. I also found out that I am no longer pre-diabetic, which is good! Anyways, has anyone else gone through fertility treatments? What worked for you? I'm just starting this journey and I'm nervous and excited. :) Thu, 23 Jan 2014 12:33:21 EST New to the team... not to PCOS http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x136x56449374 Hi! :) I am 30 years old and have been married to my wonderful Husband, Chris (32), for 3 years. Should I be going to a regular endo or a reproductive endo? I met with a regular endo once before but I didn't have any blood work and she didn't do any with me since I was waiting for my blood work from my primary. I am looking for someone that will jump right into it with me and I really don't know where to start. And if you know a good endo in the NYC area please pass their information along. The doctor did inform me that it may be more painful than normal since I had gone about 4 months without one. She didn't say if I'd be irregular for a month... Tue, 13 Mar 2012 09:03:13 EST birth control stigma http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46871953 I have posted a few days ago about having a 14 day period on this board due to starting birth control for PCOS. Well after that went away for a few days I got my period again today at full blast. That's two periods in a month. So I called my doctors office. Now I go to a small Catholic based clinic, so when I called because my pills are making me so sick the nurse gave me this reply, " well that's what happens when you go on birth control and your not married." Wtf does that even mean. I have... Fri, 2 Mar 2012 19:17:56 EST Just to share :) http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46799426 For me, I've found that when I dedicate a space to working out and I include many different things to do, I am more eager to work out because I have options to choose from that will be fun, no matter what mood I am in!

Currently, I have my space in the basement and here I have various sized weights, a punching bag, a belly dancing workout video, and a yoga kit! I pick whichever activity I am eager to do that day, and go with the flow! I stop when I don't feel into it anymore (a p... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 18:24:50 EST Electrolysis or Vaniqa anyone? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46792952 I was really hoping that once I lost weight and ate more balanced food that my facial hair would be more under control. Unfortunately I'm still struglling with this embarassing problem and it just seems to keep getting worse. I tried laser hair removal years ago and it didn't work that great and it's too expensive for me to try again. I know Vaniqa is expensive and it only works if you continue to use it, but I'm tired of having to tweeze and shave every day and STILL feel stubbles on my face... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 11:25:23 EST Introduction new to SparkTeam http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x136x46786543 Hi my name is Jessica and I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19 and endometriosis when I was 26. It has been a never ending battle with my weight my whole life. Being over weight as a child I do not think I ever knew what a healthy weight was for me. My PCOS is getting worst with age and recently I stop using birth control pills and got an IUD put in place. So far my symptoms have been greatly reduced. However it was the most painful experience I have had. It was even worst then having a c... Mon, 27 Feb 2012 00:17:40 EST Testosterone Levels http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46775670 I was diagnosed PCOS when I was 21. I am now 29. My docotrs have always had me on Metformin and birth control. Within the last 6months I have not been on birth control because of my blood pressure getting too high (120/86) so my doctor would not renew my script for birth control. I haven't had a period in 4 months now that I have been off the BC. My dotors tested my lab and my Cholesterol went from 219 to 192, My insulin went from 13.9 to 9, fasting sugar went up from 88 to 90, and my liver e... Sun, 26 Feb 2012 11:26:34 EST Metformin dosage http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=603x136x46751014 I recently went to a new doctor and she started me back on Metformin. However, she decided to give me a lower dose than what I was previously on. I used to take 1000mg twice a day. Now, I am taking 500mg twice a day. My question is was I taking to high a dose or am I now not taking enough? Just curious to see what everyone else thinks. Fri, 24 Feb 2012 17:01:31 EST 14 day long period!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46737354 For the most part I used to get my periods every 25 days and they would last 3-6 days. Every month like clock work. They were painful I did have multiple pcos sympthoms though. So long story short I was put on BC pills for the first time last month. Well my period came with the white pills but then it stayed and stayed. This morning I thought oh wow its finally gone. I just went to the restroom and when I wiped sure enough there was blood! Omg when will it end. Has this happened to anyone the... Thu, 23 Feb 2012 21:08:15 EST Metformin and working out http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46714791 So I thought I'd get everyone's take on what I'm facing now. Usually I have good days with metformin but then I have a day or two when it's lovely side effects decide to take place. On those days I find it extremely hard to not only be motivated to work out but to actually work out. My stomach feels all upset and then the side effects happen too and it's just one of the days where I'd rather not do more than I really need to.

Is that a normal reaction? Wed, 22 Feb 2012 14:46:32 EST New here: a history of me to this point (longish) http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x136x46701996 Hi,
My name's Marvel and I was recently diagnosed with PCOS (December). I have had a LOT of pelvic/girly issues in my past so this was just one more thing for me to (not) get excited about, except one thing, I keep gaining weight! I lost 60 lbs between 2010-2011 and then for some odd reason I gained 10 lbs in October which keeps coming back in 5-6 lb increments about a week or two after I lose it.

So here's my history...

Unlike a lot of women who have PCOS I neve... Tue, 21 Feb 2012 20:26:15 EST PCOS, Diet and Exercise http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46676666 I was diagnosed with this condition a long time ago but I never took it serious. But after years of highs and really low lows, I am ready to face it, lose the weight that is aggravating it and be healthier.

I have been doing a lot of reading about successful weight loss with PCOS, especially when it comes to diet. I have read lots of information on low carbs and sugars. I have read lots of information on water, sleep and exercise.

I haven't completely eliminated carbs, ... Mon, 20 Feb 2012 12:07:45 EST Down 50 pounds! Time to celebrate! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x136x46674229 FINALLY I am down 50 pounds, and I have been able to maintain that for awhile. I do still want to lose a bit more, and tone up the muscles, but I am at a healthy BMI and I feel really good. I also just put a couple of "before" pics on my sparkpage, too -- not very flattering! YIKES! Thank goodness for SP, and low carb eating!!!! It has helped so much with the control of my PCOS and pre-diabetes. I love this team! Thanks to everyone who supports me!
