Mon, 26 Sep 2011 14:24:14 EST Greetings to all Hi, my name is Sherice. I just read the book By Any Greens Necessary by Tracye Lynn McQuirter and was really convinced becoming vegan is something that I need to do. I'm really excited about this change. I figured it would be good to be apart of a group where I can get some advice and support. Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone. Tue, 26 Jul 2011 11:26:03 EST Good Dessert Ideas Anyone? Well I just made the best vegan chocolate chip cookies. If you like them as much as I do, then you'll love these. Try them out. I have recently developed an aversion to eggs and it's weird. It dawned on me that I'm eating a chicken fetus. I admit that I don't know if we get eggs simply because they don't hatch on their own or they're not allowed to hatch. I bought some Egg Beaters (egg whites only) and that definitely didn't help! It looks like snot and now I have a nagging question in my head of "where's the yellow part?" Did anyone else develop an aversion to eggs before becoming a vegetarian/vegan? Sun, 27 Mar 2011 16:12:55 EST Cabbage Soup There is a cabbage soup that I love, but it calls for ham hock. I haven't made it since I have changed to vegetarianism, but was wondering what could I substitute to get the same taste without using the meat? Anyone have any suggestions? Wed, 5 Jan 2011 08:40:07 EST Sauces, Dressings and Marinades Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find tasty, low-sodium sauces to use in a stir fry that will accentuate veggies instead of masking their flavor. Also, if anyone knows of some delicious salad dressings and marinades, PLEASE post them. Thanks! Wed, 5 Jan 2011 07:04:43 EST Greetings from Savannah Hello Everyone my name is Charice. I recently transitioned to a vegetarian diet. It has been about five months since I had meat and I really don't miss it much. The problem I have is finding variety, knowing how to incorporate this new lifestyle into my every day life, and making the most out of a vegetarian lifestyle. I welcome any help or advice that you can offer on the subject. Thank you in advance. Tue, 28 Dec 2010 13:46:35 EST Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself to the team. Sun, 21 Nov 2010 23:21:59 EST What to Eat This Fall/Winter It's still Fall I guess but it certainly is already cold here in NEw York! What are some of your favorite winter foods? I love hearty soups and stews when the weather changes especially lentil soup, tomato soup, and chili. I also love to roast sweet potatoes and eat them with a bit of butter, black pepper and rosemary. Yum! Sat, 6 Nov 2010 20:57:36 EST Spaghetti Squash Medley If you're looking for a different veggie to add to your meals, try this one. Tue, 31 Aug 2010 08:47:05 EST Smooothies! Hey guys! I just had one of the McDonald's real fruit smoothies and I have to say they are delish. Vegetarian (not vegan though) and reasonably priced. 210 cals for the small, 260 for medium, and I think 350 for large? Not bad!

I've made smoothies myself before but my blender died and I haven't bought a new one yet.

Post your favorite smoothie recipe below or share where you get your favorite :) Wed, 21 Jul 2010 10:49:40 EST Mission Mode Hello, my name is Denise and I am on a mission to regain my health, one day at a time by embracing a vegetarian lifestyle. Ultimately, my goal is to become a vegan. In the midst of the transition, and the progress towards my goals, I so look forward to being a member of this team. Tue, 29 Jun 2010 23:37:21 EST Recently Converted Vegetarian Hi all! My name is Antoinette and I have recently made the decision to become vegetarian. I plan to transition to full vegan. Glad I found this group because my other Spark team members are not really into the veggie thing so it's nice to have support of my lifestyle change.

Can't wait to get to know you all! Fri, 23 Apr 2010 13:00:15 EST What To Eat This Spring has a very interesting article, highlighting some nice spring fruits, vegetables, and herbs/seasonings; some of these may be new to you. Every day when I run my nutrition report, I'm under for protein and fat. 60 grams just seems like a lot to me but it's what spark recommends. I used to be under for calories also but a handful of almonds get me to my calorie goal. Anyone know how to get enough protein regularly? I'm tired of eating beans...I don't know how to add fat to my diet either. I'm barely eating any (not on purpose, I just don't like fatty foods). Sun, 24 Jan 2010 22:28:27 EST Hello Everyone I joined SP not too long ago.

My boyfriend and I are preparing to start P90X and SP was one of the sites they suggested we join for the tools.

He eats meat, I don't. I'm spending the holidays with lots of friends here in the South (I flew home for Thanksgiving and it's expensive to do it again). Pretty mellow Christmas and New Years. I'm almost 30 lbs down from this same time last year so my new year's resolution is to save money (not lose weight!). Tue, 22 Dec 2009 15:13:26 EST Hello Everyone! So I am sooo not a Vegan, HOWEVER, it is my goal to incorporate one Vegan meal a day into my life. So I thought this would be a great place to get some advice and ideas. Wed, 16 Dec 2009 22:07:00 EST What did you eat for "Turkey" Day? 429
So clearly Thanksgiving isn't about turkey for vegetarians and vegans BUT that doesn't mean we didn't still celebrate with friends and family and enjoy a good meal. I ate my fill yesterday: baked and stuffed acorn squash, salad with butternut squash, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, fresh baked bread AND my absolute favorite: PIE! I've been eating a vegetarian diet since December '08.

I am so glad that this group is up a running because I think that being a vegeatarian and African-American is a cultural shock for many of my friends and family members. I am currently loving Trader Joe's nonfat Greek-style yogurt. Blueberry and Raspberry are my favorites. Sat, 14 Feb 2009 19:13:06 EST How cool is this? NO ONE in my family "gets" why I am a vegetarian and it is often the subject of jokes and, in meaner times, ridicule. Right now, I am staying with my brother in my childhood hometown, having cancer treatments. My cousin, who loves to cook, made a pasta and mushroom dish for me a couple of weeks ago and, just the other day, she called me and asked me how to cook tofu! Wed, 4 Feb 2009 20:41:50 EST Dinner in 15 minutes... I usually get home from school late in the evening after the gym. When it's especially late and I'm exhausted, the last thing I want to do is spend more than 15 minutes on dinner. What do you do if you need a quick dinner? I like sauteing squash, tomato, garlic and bell pepper together in EVOO and eating it with quick-cook brown rice or wheat penne. A quick egg-white omelette with spinach, mushroom and tomato over salad also hits the spot. Thu, 29 Jan 2009 21:51:08 EST What's your favorite vegetable?
