SparkPeople working Mom's feeling Guilty Team Messageboard Discussions on how to balance work, be a great mom and not feel guilty. We share our ideas on how to look after our families and fit in time for ourselves. SparkPeople working Mom's feeling Guilty Team Messageboard Do you ever look at the leader boards? I like to once or twice a month look at the leader boards to see how I stack up on the teams I am on. To see how I am in exercise minutes and in points. Do you ever check yourself on leader boards?

Sometimes you can find much needed motivation there. If you find out you are only 40 exercise minutes from being in 3rd place would your exercise a little more to move into position?

Sometimes we find ourselves low in motivation and it is these little things that help pus... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 16:51:44 EST What crazy contraption have you bought? When I look back through the years, I have to admit I have gone to great lengths to loss weight. I started off with the thigh master in the early 90's. WHO DIDN'T OWN ONE OF THOSE! Then one night I actually ordered (back in the 90's) the Richard Simmons deal a Meal. Does anyone remember that one? I laugh now when they come out with crazy things like the shake weight.

What types of crazy things have you tried to lose weight through the years? Wed, 17 Apr 2013 11:56:30 EST Ideas for a new challange in May So I was thinking of a miles challenge in May. Where you post the miles you walked, ran, biked, etc. Tell me what you think! Wed, 17 Apr 2013 10:26:06 EST Did you behave on Easter? So I did not do to bad. I did go over in my calories but only by 200 so I don't think that is too bad for a holiday. I did get up this morning and worked out for 64 minutes. How did everyone else do? Mon, 1 Apr 2013 10:18:27 EST Needing to balance fitness plan and family life I have a bad habit of letting "life" get in the way of my fitness plan. Work, kids, stuff ... all conspire to give me an excuse not to workout today. I have a long commute and am out of the house 11 1/2 hours per day. The time I have at home really does need to center around my kids. If I take time to work out after work, it robs us of quality time together. I love our family time and I definitely feel guilty and even selfish for wanting to workout.
My son is 5 and has a big case of Mom... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 10:04:23 EST New challenge for the week Can you do 50 crunches a day. If so put a check for the day! Wed, 27 Mar 2013 11:03:47 EST I need help! Many of you know that I was sick with Menegitus back in January. It is the 6th time I have had it in 19 years. It is the infection of the brain and spinal fluids and it is a virus. It causes some damage to the brain because of the headaches and it takes me a couple weeks to recover from it. This time I don't seem to be bouncing back like I normally do. Maybe it is my age now that I turned 40. Not sure the reason but I am having some issues. Ringing in my ears, the taste and smell of ga... Wed, 20 Mar 2013 12:24:50 EST Who watched the Biggest Loser Last Night? So I was so happy that Danny won last night as she truly did it without team mates to push her along. I am so happy for her. When I saw her last night I was worried that she may have gained to much muscle and it really did come down to the last pound to determine the winner. But I was also happy with the top 3. They where all such great contestants with very little drama. No big fights or he said she said this year. Other than dealing with Gina always crying.

Did this seaso... Tue, 19 Mar 2013 09:05:05 EST Mad about shopping So yesterday I decided to go to TJ Maxx on my lunch to try and find a dress for Easter. I did not want to buy a new fat dress but at the same time I thought I would like to look and feel good for Easter so I went shopping on my lunch. I was so upset that the store did not have one size 18 in it. Not to get to personal but I am a triple D in the chest so even though I am only a 34 in the chest I have to wear a X-large shirt. They had racks of size small, medium and larges but only maybe a ... Fri, 15 Mar 2013 10:02:50 EST Hi everyone! I was browsing through the teams, and "Working Mom Feeling Guilty" definitely describes me, so I decided to join up!

I have a daughter who is almost three. My husband and I have been talking about another baby, but in some ways, we feel like we can barely handle the one we have! No matter what I'm doing (working, playing, taking care of myself), I feel like I'm short-changing something else. It makes it hard to take care of myself when I feel like I'm cheating my daughter of tim... Wed, 13 Mar 2013 11:37:02 EST East Coast/West Coast Which are you?

East Coast for me Thu, 7 Mar 2013 10:59:25 EST Looking for some new assistant team leaders I noticed that many of the other teams have several team leaders and assistant team leaders. These people help keep each other motivated and have fresh new ideas for challenges and topics of discussion. Please let me know if you are interested in helping our small team stay active.

Being a working mom while trying to be the best mom you can, has it's challenges. Adding in fitness and diet sometimes can get overwhelming. We would love your fresh new ideas on how you struggle an... Mon, 4 Mar 2013 15:54:52 EST What are you cooking tonight for dinner? I have been trying to cook almost every meal so I can stay on track and make sure I get almost 5 fruits and veggies in a day. Because of working sometimes you just get tired so I try to use my crock pot. My husband loves venison and I have not cooked it since he returned from military deployment, so I decided to make venison stew in the crock pot. I made it like I would normally make beef stew and I think I am going to serve it over egg noodles tonight for dinner. I made sure I put lots o... Mon, 25 Feb 2013 09:16:14 EST Are you a walker or a runner? I was wondering if you are a walker or a runner? I have always been a walker by I am slowly moving into the the runner category. What are you? Thu, 21 Feb 2013 09:46:53 EST BLUE TEAM CHALLENGE Ladies

The challenge has been posted between us and the red team (we can't let them beat us!) GRRR GRRR GRRRR (that's my angry face, haha)

Here's the challenge ladies:

Todays Team v. Team challenge is to walk/run a 3K and post your time. A 3k is 1.81 miles and we want you to post your time. This is a starting point so don't feel bad about it. It is something to work from so that by the end of this 14 week challenge we are doing a 5K with ease. So don't forget... Tue, 12 Feb 2013 11:07:52 EST Dont' forget to blog your progress On Biggest Loser, close to the end the contestants go back and look at their journey. How out of shape they were, how they looked, how they felt, their energey level etc. That is what your blog is for. You can go back months from now and see how you where only able to do 20 crunches and now you can do 60 or that you walked on the treadmill at 3 MPH and now you are able to run it. It is a great way to remind you of where you were and how far you have come. So don't forget to blog your jou... Thu, 7 Feb 2013 10:30:28 EST Biggest Loser Challenge for Today! So I have had a few people ask about challenges so I wanted to post a individual challenge to help push ourselves. We will have team vs. team challenges on Tuesdays starting next week but I will post once or twice a week a personal challenge if you want an added push.

Todays Challenge is called "5 Minutes all out Challenge". It is for you to push yourself to your endurance limit for 5 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical. If you have neither you can run like you are on fire ou... Wed, 6 Feb 2013 10:51:38 EST How many pairs of black pants do you own? So I noticed that my work clothes are mostly black. You know the whole black is slimming thing! I wear black pants probably 4 out of 5 days to work and once on Sunday every week. I probably own about 6 or 7 pairs of black pants. How many do you own? Is your wardrobe black as well?

My goal is that when I reach my goal to have a bright wardrobe with a variety of colors not just black! Wed, 6 Feb 2013 08:48:54 EST Running app on your phone A friend of mine introduced me to the zombie run app on my phone. Does anyone else use a phone app to workout or to keep up with everything? Tue, 5 Feb 2013 14:14:21 EST Do you know what your BMR is? I use to think my BMR was 1900. So in the back of my head I was trying to do the math. BMR minus calories eaten today plus the calories burned to see what my calorie deficit was for the day. But I checked it recently to discover is was 1604 calories. I was way off. If you have not checked lately you may want to check to see where you are. It changes as your weight changes.

Just go to spark search and type in BMR calculations. Sat, 2 Feb 2013 13:24:49 EST Did anyone watch biggest loser last night? So last night on biggest loser (for those who did not watch it) each team was given $10 a day per member of the team to go grocery shopping for one weeks worth of groceries. This was suppose to show them how they can eat healthy on a budget. So doing math they are saying to feed a family of 4 a week would cost $280 a week. That would make my grocery bill over $1,120.00 a month. How is that eating on a budget? I am not sure what prices are like on the west coast but that is pretty expensi... Tue, 29 Jan 2013 10:40:34 EST Questions for all Biggest Loser Participants The team leaders are working on getting their fitness plans together to keep their group challenged and we would like to know how you work out. Do you have a set amount of time you dedicate, do you break it up into smaller segments and try to fit them into your day. Do you go to the gym or work out at home. What type of equipment do you have at home? What do you normally do. We want to format our challenges to push you but we do not want to give challenges that can not fit into your sche... Fri, 25 Jan 2013 12:17:22 EST Looking for a home So I love the name of this team. Needless to say I'm a working mom of 2 girls ages 8 & 10. I feel guilty all the time. Guilty about not getting exercise, eating better, eating too much, etc. Also guilty if I do take the time away from everyone else, not cleaning the house and so on. Anyway, I've not managed to lose the 35-40 lbs I need to for years. I truly believe that if I can find a good support network I can do this. Besides with two impressionable girls, this is not something I need to d... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 23:28:55 EST Biggest Loser Challenge 2/1 - 5/10 The Biggest Loser Challenge will start on February 1, 2013 and go until Mothers Day (That is when they normally have the Biggest Loser Finally). I was thinking of creating a biggest loser style challenge maybe Red team verses Blue Team. You can pick the them you want to be one and then Post your body percentage weight loss per week so we can see If Red Rocks or Blue Rules per week. Maybe also post challenges suck as walk, run, eleiptical a 5K or stair step and post the minutes you outlasted everyone, etc.

Let me know if you are interested. I really want to boost my weight loss and I thought a biggest Loser Challenge mig... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 10:41:00 EST Crock pot cooking for busy mommies I worry with constantly running around after work a few days a week that my kids are not eating healthy meals like they should so I have been trying a couple new crock pot recipes a week. So far I made the slow cooker creaming italian chicken recipe that you serve over rice. I added veggies to it and it tasted just like chicken pot pie filling. The kids loved it. I am right now making the slow cookers ham and scalloped potatoe recipe. It smells really goods so hopefully it will be delici... Sun, 20 Jan 2013 14:14:57 EST ? about the Eliptical So when I use the eliptical at home I burn crazy calories like this morning I did 36 minutes and it said I burnt 520 calories, however if I go to the gym and use their eliptical is says I burn like 200. Not sure which is accurate. I want to believe 520 how does your eliptical read? Wed, 16 Jan 2013 09:19:48 EST Do we have any birthday's in January I was wondering if we had any birthday girls this month? Wed, 9 Jan 2013 13:00:54 EST Our team goals Do forget to subscribe to our team goals and account for them daily. That we we can keep track of how fit and on track our moms are being. Tue, 8 Jan 2013 09:47:28 EST New Challenge posted I just posted a family challenge that would be great for everyone. Check out below! Mon, 7 Jan 2013 09:15:16 EST Mommy/child challenge I think since we are all trying to start a new and healthy lifestyle it is important to set a good example for our children so I thought it would be fun to include your child in our workout twice a week. It could be walking them in the stroller around the mall or wii dancing with them. Taking them to the gym with you or the pool.

List anytime you include your children in your workout and how long. Mon, 7 Jan 2013 09:14:27 EST Do you have a step counter? My husband bought me a Mio Watch for Christmas but I keep forgetting to wear it when I work out. I was thinking about using the step app to keep track of my steps per day. Does anyone else count their steps? Fri, 4 Jan 2013 07:57:25 EST Your 2013 Mini Goal So my mini goal is as follows:

I start today at 195 pounds. I would like to be 185 by Valentines Day. I will post weekly my progress. Wed, 2 Jan 2013 13:20:09 EST Do you have a New Years Resolution? I know every year we often have the same resolution to lose weight only to give up part of the way through the year. Mine again this year is to lose weight but I also have a few others.

To get healthy with my children. I want to encourage my daughter to eat better and get active. I also want to become more balanced. I am an all or nothing type person as you can tell. I am either working out 6 yo 7 days a week or zero. I am either reading 2 books a week or zero. I become so... Wed, 2 Jan 2013 12:48:10 EST Hello !!! I am new to SP, and have just found this team ... is it still active ???? Tue, 1 Jan 2013 22:06:41 EST greetings to all busy mums Hi there,

I guess the team leaders are pretty busy gave an Inactive TL warning at sign up.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here :)

Cheers, Mon, 17 Sep 2012 20:46:42 EST Hello Mamas Hi, everyone!
I am a recently renewed member of Spark people, hoping to jump start my stalled weight loss. I turned 30 this past June, I am married with a 5 year old daughter and a 20 month old son. I work full time as an accountant, so I sit on my widening behind all day long. I was a WW member since August, and lost 20 pounds pretty quickly. Once tax season happened, I fell off the wagon and haven't been able to get back on. Finances got tight, so I cancelled my membership about a w... Mon, 13 Aug 2012 20:59:57 EST Sparkpeople's Boot Camp Well I did it - I just purchased Sparkpeople's 28 Day Bootcamp.
I should get this on Friday and I'm nervous, excited to do it. The reviews on it were amazing. Wed, 2 May 2012 09:13:25 EST breaking my heart to see daughter struggle So my 7 year old daughter is over 80 pounds. She is officially off the the growth chart. She has been hiding food in her room that I find every so often (right down to cooking morsels) for over a year and a half. She will eat a meal and less than 10 minutes later will ask for a snack. My son and daughter ask me if I would start packing their lunch about 6 weeks ago. So I thought it would be good that way I could monitor better what she eats. She has continued to get bigger now a size 10... Tue, 1 May 2012 15:41:04 EST Shy about posting before pictures I am not a huge lover of pictures. I am the one normally taking them or running away from the camera. I know it is very theraputic to post pictures but I always see the before and after pictures not the before and the "well you lost a little but you are still fat" pictures. Would your post before pictures when you are still so far away from your goal. Maybe it is the vane side of me that does not want to do it. I want people to only see the skinny side (which is about 40 pounds away). Fri, 27 Apr 2012 15:24:46 EST Weekly weigh in So I decided to add a weekly weigh in section so everyone can track their progress. Maybe having to post it for the world to see will help with accountability, something sparkpeople does not always have. When you go to a weightloss clinic you have to jump on that scale for the world to see whether you had a good week or bad week when it comes to weight loss. The scale does not always reflect our efforts but for most of us it is how we judge how we are doing, right/wrong or indifferent. So... Wed, 25 Apr 2012 09:43:08 EST Disturbing Mommy issue at school So yesterday I get a call from the school. A child threatened to stab my son in the stomach. Keep in mind he is in the third grade. Evidently my sons "girlfriend" was being bullied in gym class. My son was standing back from the situation but had his fists clenched to his side. The very dramatic girlfriend tells the bully that my son is going to kick his butt. My son has NEVER fought with anyone other than his sister in his life. The bully goes back to other people in gym class and tel... Tue, 24 Apr 2012 10:18:26 EST May challenge For the May challenge in preparation for the upcoming Summer we need to make sure we are staying motivated and on track so the challenge for the month will be as follows:

1) Do at least 120 minutes of cardio a week
2) Do at least 3 - 10 minutes segments of strength training a week
3) Track your food intake with the food tracker 5 days a week
4) Involve your children (if age appropriate) in some type of outdoor activity twice a week
(could be walking the dog, s... Tue, 24 Apr 2012 09:35:03 EST Ideas for a May challenge? I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a May challenge to help us reach our mini goals before it is swim suit weather? Mon, 23 Apr 2012 10:49:06 EST Morals and values I have not been doing very well this week because I have really been down in the dumps. Three couples that we are friends with are either cheating, separating or getting a divorce as a result of adulterous affair. I was so angry when I left work yesterday that it ruined my entire evening. I did not do 1/2 of the stuff I was going to and I am still upset. One of my very good friends just found out her hubby has been cheating. This is not the first time he has done this and she has always ... Thu, 19 Apr 2012 13:40:34 EST Dinner/Supper time routine Just curious if your family sits down at a table together to eat a meal?

My family always sat together and ate all meals together when I was a child and I do the same with my kids, however my sister is the exact opposite. Her kids never sit at a table to eat and they normally eat in front of the tv. I know spark says it is important to not eat in front of the tv and concentrate on what you are eating. Though i have to confess my normal breakfast is consumed in front of my make... Tue, 17 Apr 2012 09:33:02 EST Because I'm a Mom (not weight related) Yesterday I went to see Titanic in 3D with my dad and my sister. I have seen this movie many many many times - but everytime I saw this movie, I had yet to become a mother. Yesterday I was sitting in the theatre, 3d glasses on looking way sylish (ha!) and the scene comes up where a man is talking to his curly headed daughter waiting to board the ship and I started crying.
I remember thinking - this little girl is going to be on a ship that sinks. Now I didn't remember if she made it... Mon, 16 Apr 2012 10:02:47 EST Tracking As much as I hate to do this - I'm goin to advertise my true weight taken at the Dr's office Thursday (it's gone up since I updated it on Sparkpeople).
My hopes are to use this thread to track my weight as an on going process. I know I could start a blog about this - but I'm more apt to keep up with this than I am my blog, that and I want to share my journey with you all and I don't know if my page is blocked private or not.
I plan on weighing in every Thursday.

Thursd... Tue, 10 Apr 2012 11:44:04 EST Monthly goals - Do you set them? So I have a general number I am trying to lose each month to reach my goal. I would like to lose 7 pounds a month (1.75 pounds a week). My goal is to be 170 by the end of June. I lost a pound this week but I am questioning it. My sacale has been so weird this week. On Monday and Tuesday it said I gained 4 pounds, which is impossible since I have been really good. The only thing I could think that it was water weight gain. I have been drinking an insane amount of water lately. Then yes... Fri, 6 Apr 2012 09:15:06 EST Hello Hi, I'm Megan, I'm a full time secretary plus part time student, I try to give as much time to my children as I can while still fitting in time for health and fitness, It's hard but, I'm finding balance. How do you all do it? Tue, 3 Apr 2012 22:19:05 EST "Putting yourself first" I just read under the motivational articles the article called "Putting Yourself First" and I thought I would attach the link to it. It was a great article for all Working Moms to read. It addresses the core issues with our small group. Balance and looking after everyone else while trying to look after ourselves.

ness_articles.asp?id=484 Tue, 3 Apr 2012 11:16:20 EST EVIL PLANKS! So I am doing the Spring into shape challenge and every day you have to do a 10 minute toning video and a set amount of cardio. One of the lovely video's is pilates. I don't mind pilates until you make me do a plank. If I could do a plank I would not be fat! I would look like the chick in the video. I just hate when I have to do the "if you can't do it you can make it simple" version of an exercise. However my middle tire will not allow me to get my butt in a parralle angle with my feet... Tue, 3 Apr 2012 09:23:17 EST Member #331 - Reporting for duty Hello everyone!

Just introducing myself to what seems to be a very appropriate board for me and my life. I started my healthy lifestyle changes on January 1 and i have lost 27.2 pounds so far. Goal is to get down to 150, so i've got 45.8 to go!

I have a 14 month old who is the cutest baby ever and as far as I'm concerned, a super genius. I am also well aware that every mother probably thinks exactly the same thing of their child, so at least I know we all have somethi... Sun, 1 Apr 2012 20:10:06 EST Is anyone doing the clean eating thing? So my scale has finally moved this week as of today I am down 2 pounds. This week I have concentrated more on eating clean. Cooking fresh veggies, eating fresh fruit, reducing my preprocessed foods, etc. I do not know if that is the reason my scale moved this week or not. But I have to say I feel alot better. Don't get me wrong I still had a russell stover coconut cream egg yesterday (totally preprocessed) but I have reduced drastically all of my meals. Wed, 28 Mar 2012 09:24:20 EST Working mom in school I am new to SparksPeople what a great site. My mom introduced me to it and what an eye opener. Today I tracked what I usually eat, holy cow 707 calories over my allowance. Hope this one works for me, very optimistic Sun, 25 Mar 2012 22:44:56 EST Spring into April Family friendly Challenge This months challenge is a family friendly challenge. I would like each person to log in each week of April three family friendly (get your body moving) things (each week) they have done with their kids or family. It can be taking walks at night, going to amuzement parks, taking the kids to the park to play, biking, etc. The goal is to help instill a healthy lifestyle in your children while at the same time work on yourself. Fri, 23 Mar 2012 09:33:29 EST Speaking of feeling guilty... Hi,

I am 34, married, and have 1 daughter who is my everything. My program is Insanity and just trying to eat clean.

My baby is sick today.. I can't get over the guilt of leaving her at the sitters knowing she wasn't feeling well. The sitter called me twice to say that she has been lethargic all day and slept most of the afternoon. I'm sure she is running a fever too. My husband and I are both an hour out from where she is. Feeling SOOO guilty :( He's going to pick her... Wed, 21 Mar 2012 15:25:22 EST Share a recipe - good for Moms in a hurry So last night I cooked garlic shrimp and broccoli.

I took the electric frying pan and put a little crushed garlic paste and 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of light country crock in the bottom and added fresh broccoli florets. I cooked them for a few minutes (with the lid on the pan) and then added 24 ounces or fully cooked shrimp (thawed out from the freezer). Cooked for an additional 4 or 5 minutes. The kids each had two helpings and it was extremely low fat and soooo good. It would ... Wed, 14 Mar 2012 09:16:08 EST Do you include your children in your workout? Recently I signed the kids up for swimming lessons. They loved them so much that they want to swim for an extra hour every week. Yah for me because now I can add a different type of workout in my routine. I also do things like wii dance with the kids. Now that it is getting warmer I will go back to walking the dogs around the neighborhood at night with the kids for fun and a little sun.

Do you include your children in your workout? Tue, 13 Mar 2012 08:00:46 EST Feeling Discouraged Ladies
I weighed in this morning and I'm down 1.2 lbs and yes it's a loss but I've been working so hard and I'm not seeing the results.
I work out every day and I'm tracking my points (Weight Watchers) and in the past month I've only lost 4.4 lbs! I know that I'm not going to just wake up skinny - but dang it, I want to see the scale go down!
I'm not going to give up - but I don't know, I needed to vent. Fri, 2 Mar 2012 09:55:46 EST I know what I need to do.... I know HOW to lose weight, I just cant seem to get my butt in gear! I am a server right now so Im around food all the time. Plus i have the added complication that right now Im working until 1-2 am and my son wakes up by 5:30-6:30 so Im normally exhausted which does not seem to help me chose the "right" foods. I work out often which help with my energy level. I know that Im no longer trying to lose the weight to look good in a bathing suit (I dont know if that will ever happen again lol) but ... Thu, 1 Mar 2012 08:36:42 EST The 10% solution I have attached below an article I read on Spark that was called the 10% solution. I thought it was pretty good. It was about instead of setting a large goal much like myself wanting to lose a total of 66 pounds to set 10% goals instead. Like 10% and then once you reach that 10% you set another 10% goal. So if you weight 200 pounds set a 20 pound goal then when you do that set another 10% until you reach you utimate goal.

vation_artic... Okay so Sparkpeople gives you a general calorie range to reach your goal and most of us try to stay in it to reach our goal but I wanted to know what my BMR was not BMI. How many calories I need to just maintain so that I could work from there to see exactly how many calories I need to cut out a day and how much exercise I need to add a day to reach my goal. I was surprised to learn that to reach my goal of 1.5 pound lose a week would equal to eating at the very bottom of my calorie range (... Fri, 24 Feb 2012 11:01:26 EST Do you Blog? So I try to blog every so often so that I have a diary of my journey and if anyone cares to look it has been a long journey filled with highs and lows. My question is do you blog? Do you think it would help with the accountability aspect of losing weight? Thu, 23 Feb 2012 13:16:07 EST 3 month Challenge. So I set my new goal to lose 25 pounds by the end of the June. I would really love to lose 50 this year so i figure if I can lose 1/2 by June I can then work on the other half the rest of the year. So I thought it would be a good idea to set a three month challenge. That way you can check in every week and have accountability toward your progress for the three months. I want to be 175 by June 1st. I will log in my starting weight at the end of this month. I am scared to see how much wei... Tue, 21 Feb 2012 15:35:19 EST Goals for Spring 2012 What are your goals for this coming spring? Not like the number of pounds you want to lose, instead, an exercise goal, or anything else that will improve your physical/mental/spiritual well-being.

Mine:
1. start racing again, and run my 1st 1/2 marathon since my girls were born
2. rediscover my social life
3. slow down and enjoy, try to be more 'in the moment'

Good luck @ thanks for sharing! Fri, 17 Feb 2012 08:41:52 EST Hi! New here... Hello. I'm new to SP, I was looking for a way to start tracking my nutrition and get rid of some bad eating habits. I have 20 month old twin daughters who keep me very busy, and I work full-time, w/ a ridiculous commute and occasional travel. I lost all my pregnancy weight and then some really fast/easily, and was thrilled w/ my weight. BUT seems as soon as I returned to work it packed back on, and I'm almost back up to my pre-pregnancy weight. My goal is to lose 15-20 lbs. I really nee... Wed, 8 Feb 2012 20:29:19 EST Valentines Challenge So I was thinking who would not like to lose 10 pounds in a month. I know I would love too! I got tired just typing that.

My question to you all:
What are you doing to achieve your goal? Mon, 30 Jan 2012 14:07:29 EST Help Ladies
I know we're all super busy - being working mom's is totally exhausting in itself. Thu, 19 Jan 2012 09:41:29 EST Struggles I know being a working mom is hectic, sometimes it seems almost impossible. There's not enough time in the day for me to do what I need to do, with my kids, work, exercise, eating healthy...etc. So I pick and choose who/what gets my available time, unfortuntely exercise and eating healthy tend to take a back seat to me being a mom and working.
I work 11 hours a day - that means someone else is helping me raise my kids 12 hours a day. Wed, 11 Jan 2012 09:31:00 EST Did you make a New Years resolution? Well my resolution is the same as it is every year to lose weight. I started this resoluation about 2 years ago and did great for about a year and a half and somehow got off track with my injury. So this year I am back to lose those few pounds I gained back and another 26 more this year. I would love to lose at least 40 pounds this year. So far I have only lost one but I still have 50 weeks left in 2012 to lose 39 more.

What was your resolution if you made one? Wed, 11 Jan 2012 09:18:57 EST Introduction Hello - My name is Christina, 31, and I live in Santa Fe, NM. I had previously had some "luck" losing weight with Spark (lost about 30 lbs) but took sometime off when I was pregnant and after my baby was born. He is now almost 16 months and I have finally motivated myself enough to log back in and start the journey again. I work full time and go to school part time. I eventually want to lose about 150 lbs but plan to have small goals to get there Tue, 10 Jan 2012 15:13:23 EST January challenge I was thinking since it is the kick off to a New Year we should start off with a bang. My goal this month is to lose 10 pounds. I know that is alot however because I have been away for a while I thought maybe I would drop a larger number the first week or two.

My starting weight is 193 and my goal weight is 183.

What is your goal for January? Thu, 5 Jan 2012 09:00:48 EST Sorry I have been MIA Well as several of you know I hurt my arm trying to paint my house. My husband is in the military and I was trying to paint the house before school started and my husband returned from deployment. I was told I had tennis elbow and to take it easy. So that is what I did. A little to easy. I stopped working out all together because everything I did hurt my arm. Sadly it still hurts just as bad was when I left spark 4 months ago. So now I am back weighting 15 pounds more than when I left.... Thu, 5 Jan 2012 08:57:32 EST Hi Sparkpeople! I'm a mommy on a mission.. So my name is Samantha and I am 22 years old. Fri, 9 Dec 2011 04:50:02 EST So how are you holding up? 213 Just curious how everyone's doing! Are you super busy at work this time of year as the holidays approach? Are you running around like crazy delivering orders from school fundraisers? And if you DO find time for exercise, what is your secret?

I think we can all relate to lots of last minute things to finish up before the holidays, every where we look. Good luck to all of us!! For me lately work is crazy, and I have given up hope that it's going to ever be anything... Wed, 26 Oct 2011 09:46:28 EST Need some motivation! The other day I was going over my bank statment and I realized that a lot of our purchases were for going out to eat. Curious I added everything up. From September 1 - September 15 we spent $570.00 in dining out. That does include a trip we made out of town but still, that's crazy. Not only that but we know that a lot of the time the empty calories we consume when someone else prepares is astronomical.
I work typically 10+ hours a day and when I get home the LAST thing I want to do is... Fri, 16 Sep 2011 10:42:37 EST What are your September goals? Now that school is back in session and many other activities are starting to kick off, "busy mom" takes on a new meaning for all of us. Needless to say I have not been active on spark for the past 4 day. I have tried to fit the last bit of summer in before back to early bedtimes and homework. On friday I took the kids to the waterpark, Saturday Busch Gardens, Sunday Grandmas and then they had a sleepover with friend at my house and Monday was lazer tag. Did you do anything special before sending them to school? Tue, 6 Sep 2011 10:45:53 EST Lets Play Catchup It's been forever since I posted here - we had some people at my office retire and I stepped into their position while doing my position.
Basically at this point these are my job titles:
Assitsant to Division President
Assistant to Drywall Dept
Lead Secretary
Lead AP Clerk
Project Assistant
Event Planner

Keep in mind that every one of those is a full time job on it's own - uggh. Every year or so I will do something to injury myself and it often will set me back a ways. I have been working on painting three rooms of my house. My forearm started hurting after day three so I took a few days off then I painting again twice and starting having numbness in my hands and pain from elbow down. So now I am diagnosed with tennis elbow. They do not think I have torn the tendon but I was advised to ice it 3 times a day, take an antiinflamatory 2... Thu, 25 Aug 2011 09:52:13 EST What made you join spark? I have been a member since after my son was born and before my daughter, hence the exclusion of my daughter from my screen name. I gained ALOT of weight with my son but did farly well when pregnant with my daughter. However I balloon up to 220 pounds when pregnant with my son. I was a on again off again member for years. I would go through spurts of being fit and then gaining it all back. I had gotten where when I woke up in the morning my back was sore and I was walking like an old pers... Thu, 18 Aug 2011 10:23:33 EST Hello Working Moms Hi all. I'm Marquice, mom to 4 boys ages 11, 4, almost 3 and 1. I've been a SP member for almost a year, but I've just really started using it on a daily basis to track my food & exercise. I'm finding that it's helping me keep tabs on myself, which I've had a hard time doing with working and keeping up with all my children. I'm hoping that I can reach my goal of losing 30 lbs by Christmas. Any tips that you working moms of multiples can give me would be greatly appreciated! :-)
<B... Tue, 9 Aug 2011 14:05:56 EST 1/2 way to my Goal! I am so excited to report I am as of today 1/2 way to my goal. I started this journey for the hundreth time January 1, 2010. I wanted to lose 70 plus pounds! I decided not to crash diet or deny myself the things I really wanted in life. I wanted to lose the weight but not get burnt out and stop yet again. So for the year and a half I have had my ups and downs with the scale, often getting a little upset that it was not moving downward as fast as I wanted. However I can say that not once ... One group for mom's of girls, one group for mom's of boys and one group for mom to both. I was thinking we could separate into three groups and maybe post our fitness minutes every day adding them up at the end of the week (Fridays and see which team averaged by number of participants exercised the most) So if Team girls has 5 members, team boys has 2 and team both has 1 we just average the minutes by the number of participants in each group.... Wed, 13 Jul 2011 10:54:25 EST Allowance or no allowance? So I use to give my kids an allowance but my uncle said he was watching a show one time and the guest speaker (often on Oprah) said that children should not get paid for things they should be doing anyway. That everything should not be expected and that it teaches them values and responsiblity. My question is this do you give an allowance and if you do is it for chores or just because.

Last summer I had the kids do chores for their allowance and I told them that I was no longer... Tue, 12 Jul 2011 09:07:57 EST Family fitness challenge So I joined the family fitness challenge listed under challenges on the main page. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to make it a family affair. Week one is lessen tv time, 3 family fitness activities a week, assigning chores to the kids, planning out meals, etc. So far so good. I have been doing it since Friday and I am happy to say I did not turn on the tv at all on Yesterday or Saturday and on Friday I think I watched may a 1/2 hour. YAHHH! However I went upstairs yesterda... Mon, 11 Jul 2011 11:42:56 EST Picnic plans So this past weekend I took a picnic to the beach with the kids. I packed ham sandwiches, cheese cubs, strawberries and grapes and an oatmeal cake along with plenty of water and juice. This is a change from what I normally would have packed, candy bars in the cooler to keep from melting, bags of chips, a bucket of fried chicken, who knows what else.

How have you picnic habits changed for the summer? Thu, 30 Jun 2011 10:45:13 EST July's bathing suit challenge None of us want to think about putting on another bathing suit with a skirt attached trying to hide ourselves as much as possible while still participating in beach/pool activities with the family. So I was thinking about doing a size challenge. I think we should post our size we are currently wearing and go for one size smaller. This means not pounds lost on the scale but muscle toning to lose those inches. I have been trying to incorporate more Muscle strengthening into my workouts so th... Wed, 29 Jun 2011 15:18:34 EST Summer vacation plans? I was wondering where everyone takes their family on vacation. We have done the mountains, camping in both cabin and tent, Disney World and Busch Gardens but I was wondering where everyone takes there little ones on child friendly vacations. I am always looking for new ideas. Mon, 27 Jun 2011 14:18:48 EST great arms challenge So upon inspection in the mirror I discovered that in order for me to be in a wedding in a sleeveless dress I am really going to have to work out my arms. Also alot of my summer clothes are tank shirts and I am tired of the giggly arms so I was thinking I would start an upper body/arm challenge. Maybe we can list how many arm muscle building exercises we do and share what is working and what is not.

I really need to work on my underarms you know the giggly side! Mon, 20 Jun 2011 13:28:21 EST I'm back and on a mission Well things are finally semi back to normal so I have started back this morning. I am happy to say I got my son and daughter off the summer camp, got a great workout in this morning and so far have made great decisions. I have decided to hide the scale until the end of the month. I am going to work out like a crazy person and hopefully 10 days from now see a large weight loss. I have a mission of losing 20 pounds before my friends September 17th wedding. Mon, 20 Jun 2011 09:15:54 EST Sorry I have been MIA lately! I have had an insane June so far. My husband is in the military so he has been in and out most of the month, my Grandmother was in the hospital for heart surgery for over two weeks and is now in a rehabilitation Center and on top of all of that I have had roofers and general contractors at my house most of the month. Tue, 31 May 2011 14:10:01 EST Do you exercise with a wii or xbox? Over the past year I have been adding more and more different types of exercise into my diet routine. I purchased the Wii in February of last year and then in the summer bought the wii fit and Wii Dance 2. I did alot of that for a while but went back to my normal exercise stuff. I just got the wii Zumba and love it. So much fun and a great workout! Does anyone else use a wii or xbox to exercise? Mon, 23 May 2011 09:23:41 EST Crazy I'm so sorry I've been MIA lately. I've got an extra 10 lbs of baby weight to lose plus another 10 to get to a healthier weight now that I'm (cough) 40 years old (like, when did that happen?). I've followed different programs in the past to lose weight successfully but just need to stick to it. Fri, 29 Apr 2011 20:19:59 EST Would you take diet pills So I had a doctors check up today. It had been over a year and a half since I had one. Everything was good except for my weight of course. I told the doctor that I had been dieting since January 2010 and had lost 30 pounds but for the past 6 months I have been struggling with losing. I will lose and then gain and my motivation is starting to waiver. He prescribed for me to take phenterine HCi for 30 days to give me a boost. My son (2nd grade) got angry at another child who cut in line in front of him and was being mean and my son scratched his own face and neck out of anger. He has hit himself in the head out of anger before as well. I just spent my lunch hour talking to my son and counselor but still do not feel good about it. Wed, 30 Mar 2011 14:39:24 EST New adventure Hey y'all. Today is my first day at this site. As I struggle with my weight, job, husband and 3 year old, I realize that I can't do this all by myself. I have been trying on and off for about 3 years to lose weight. I have been on other sites. I have taken shots and pills. Things seem to work for a few months and then "bam" life happens. As I start this new adventure today, I am looking at it as a new lifestyle instead of just a diet. I can't wait to learn more and become more involved with t... Tue, 22 Mar 2011 20:36:56 EST What is your ultimate goal? I have changed my goal many times. Once I thought I wanted to be 140 then it went to 135 then 130. Right now I would settle for any of the above (ha ha!) I am a little shy of 5 ft 5 inches so my health range according to weight watchers is like 125 to 142. I am not sure where that weight would put me in pants size but I would love to be in a single digit size pants as well. When I was 142 lbs back in 2000, I still wore a size 12 pants which is very frustrating. So I would like to reach ... One of my friends at my daughter's school was selling girl scout cookies. So out of the goodness of my heart (and my love for somoas) I purchased 5 boxes. 2 tagalongs for the hubby, one box of thin mints and 2 boxes of the somoas. I told myself I would put them in the freezer but they have not made it yet. So on Monday night I gave the kids some thin mints, while I worked on some PTA stuff at the school. I did not eat any and have avoided them so far. That is until lunch time today. I w... Thu, 24 Feb 2011 14:40:18 EST Don't forget to track your goals I wanted to see how many pounds our team loses each month and I see we only lost 3 this month and I think they where mine. Please make sure you track your goals so we can see how skinny us Mom's are getting. Wed, 23 Feb 2011 13:47:09 EST Today! I'm digging deep here to find my missing motivation. I'm TIRED Of seeing the scale creep back up. I'm still 10 lbs from where I started but that seems too close for comfort.

So TODAY, I brought a change of clothes, and my running shoes. Instead of going and pigging out at lunch - I'm going to go running at a nearby park. Mon, 21 Feb 2011 09:30:46 EST Facebook? Do any of you use the Sparkpeople for Facebook? Mon, 21 Feb 2011 09:27:54 EST Acceptanc e/Changes What is something you've just accepted and what are somethings you know you can change?
Do you make anyone hold you accountable for your actions? Fri, 18 Feb 2011 09:30:23 EST Getting Back on Track It's no secret that I seemed to have taken myself down the path of "eat whatever I want" "watch tv" "no way to exercise" path as of late. My scale has reflected my lack of caring/activity.

So staring at my scale - I was hit with the reality... HOW do I get back on track? When do I hit that wall of ok this is it? NOW is the time? No more, I'll start tomorrow's - the time is now!
I HATE watching what I eat. Like seriously, I hate it. I want to eat what I want, when I want.... Fri, 18 Feb 2011 09:28:33 EST Who wants a Goody vacation cruise? I was thinking maybe this month for inspiration from now until St. Patricks day I could give the winner (biggest loser) a goody vacation cruise worth 5,000 spark goodie points. Are you in? Final weigh in will be on the March 17th.

My starting weight is 176 Thu, 17 Feb 2011 15:11:02 EST Are you planning on walking in a 3, 5 or 10K I have been thinking about signing up for a 5 or 10 K in the spring. The one I wanted to do in April is $110.00 to sign up so I am going to see if there is another one I would rather do for a better cause than just St. Patrick's day. I am thinking it will give me a little motivation to push myself harder. Are any of you planning on doing one? Fri, 11 Feb 2011 13:24:40 EST Getting ready for Spring Challenge Easter is April 24th, which means for those of us who have some school aged kids, spring break is the week before. I am planning on taking the kids on a mini vacation that week with the hubby and am really not looking forward to wearing my old clothes. So I was thinking we could start a Spring challenge to help us go a size or two down before having to pull out the old spring/summer clothes. I would love an excuse to buy new summer clothes.

What do you think? Should we do an in... Mon, 7 Feb 2011 14:58:44 EST February Challenge Since we are already 3 days into February and it is a short Month. I thought I would have a simple challenge. Lose 4 pounds this month. Who wants to join me.

177 CW
173 GW or Less Thu, 3 Feb 2011 11:27:37 EST I have a confession! So I thought this would be a good place to put your confessions. That way you can get them off your chest and behind you!

I have to confess that for the last almost two weeks I have been not so good. With everyone in my house being sick I have not been watching what I eat or exercising. I probably gained a couple pounds but I will not look until Friday so if I did I can work one or two off by then. When I do not feel good I always fall to comfort foods. I made a batch of homem... Tue, 1 Feb 2011 08:48:26 EST Hi Hi, I'm dealing with a lot of health issues resulting from giving birth 10 months ago. My son is crawling all over the place. I work full time with a daily 2 hour commute and write part time. I am happily married and very lucky to have supportive family living just down the street. Well that's a brief summary of me. I had gestational diabetes while i was pregnant and have now been diagnosed as pre diabetic. So, it's really time for me to get healthy, one day at a time. Mon, 24 Jan 2011 00:40:19 EST newbie Hi,

My name is Heather and I am a mother of a just turned 2 year old. I am looking for a group that relates to me and this is the one. I was wondering if I am able to join all of you mothers here for support, advice, and guidence.

I have a hard time with working, working out, eating healthy, being the best mom, and wife that I can be. I seem to be unable to juggle all of these things.

Anyone with advice, please shoot it at me.

Thanks. Mon, 17 Jan 2011 12:18:04 EST How do you How do you keep track of your progress?

Mon, 17 Jan 2011 10:13:36 EST What an eye opener!! Wow!! I just tracked my breakfast for the first time and now I want to cry!! Who knew a smoothie and bagle would have so many calories!! I am trying so hard not to just give up now. I am so depressed! Mon, 17 Jan 2011 09:51:31 EST What is your biggest struggle with weight loss? I have to say Working out is not a struggle for me. I really enjoy it. I do have to make a constant effort to drink enough water a day. On the weekends I am really bad about getting my 8 glasses in. It is so easy to do at work. I know I fill my cup up 3 times a day and drink one bottle at home. However I find (like last night) when I feel bad about something I over eat.

I did great with my workout yesterday but last night I felt bad about an argument I had with my son and I ... Fri, 14 Jan 2011 09:30:40 EST Newbie from New Jersey Hi All,

I'm Katy, 27 year old mom of a 2 1/2 year old little boy, who I like to call Captain Crazy Pants. I recently started working full time from home and my son attends day care. Today is a snow day, so we are having a good time. I wish I could keep him home with me during the day all the time, but my job is pretty technical and takes too much brain power to do and attend to his needs at the same time. Of course, I have tremendous guilt, but at least he isn't in day care quite ... Wed, 12 Jan 2011 11:03:07 EST Rewards Being a working mom is hard - this is something we all have in common. I was wondering, how will you reward yourself for reaching your goals? What are your goals?
Short term - long term? Tue, 11 Jan 2011 09:13:20 EST Hi Everyone! I am happy to be here!
I am 29, have an almost 2 year old son (who doesn't stop running from the second he wakes up until he goes down at night!), I work a demanding job in finance/accounting and my husband is a software engineer.
I hope 2011 is a great year for my family and that I get to know many of you! Sat, 8 Jan 2011 22:05:44 EST Yep...I'm guilty too I came across this group while looking for something to join and was so excited!
My name is Vanessa. I am a 29 year old mother to a 1yo, 5yo, and full time step mother to a 14yo. I work a full 40 hour week, am planning my wedding (yay!), and trying to take care of every day routines. It seems as though I forgot to take care of myself too. I have 40 lbs to loose to be back to my pre-kid weight. I am under no illusions that my body will look the same now that I have them breeding hips, but... Fri, 7 Jan 2011 17:15:08 EST Do you watch biggest loser? I watched biggest loser last night and thought it was extremly unfair that the unknowns get 4 weeks with no voting off. That just dwindles down Bob and Jillian's team. Of course I think they will probably do some re suffling around once everyone is back on the ranch but alliances will be formed and it kinda like insured the unknowns to win it. I still love the show and did my muscle toning while watching it last night. Do you watch it? What do you think? Wed, 5 Jan 2011 09:33:24 EST Just joined in on the Mommy fun Hi there, my name is Amy and I've just joined spark people and looking for forums where I can connect. I would love to connect with some other moms in the same boat as me. Tue, 4 Jan 2011 22:12:48 EST 12 Week 10 K challenge So I was reading the Spark your way to a 10 K article and I was thinking if this training is a 12 week program that would put us into the spring and time for the 5 and 10K. So I was thinking it would be fun to prepare ourselves during the winter months so we look hot in the spring. ha ha The link is below.

ess_articles.asp?id=599
or simply search Spark your way to a 10K.

I plan on doing the 10K Walk/Jog Program... Here are a few of my ideas tell me if you have some you would like as well.

1 - monthly mileage challenge. Log in your miles awards of sparkgoodies given to the winner every month.
2 - Calories burned
3- step challenge
4- Monthly % challenge toward weight loss ultimate goal. Wed, 15 Dec 2010 11:13:47 EST Have you thought about your 2011 resolution? Well last year my resolution was to lose weight and I am happy to say I have been active since January 1, 2010. So far I went down from 211 lbs to 179. So now my resolution will be to lose 35 to 40 pounds in 2011. Also to incorporate more muscle toning into my workouts as I have been concentrating on my miles and not my muscles in 2010.

What are your 2011 goals? Tue, 14 Dec 2010 10:45:10 EST What's on your kids Christmas wish list? Well my kids want everything this year. Well I did not really stick to my diet much. I ate however I was on the go alot and did ALOT of cleaning. I did not drink my water and I gained 2 pounds. I am sure now that I am back at work I will lose that by Friday as I force myself to go to the water cooler. How did everyone else survive? Mon, 29 Nov 2010 12:00:56 EST Are you changing your cooking for Thanksgiving? Are you going to change your menu or the way you cook it for Thanksgiving? Or are you just going to eat less of it?

My favorite part of Thanksgiving is not the turkey or the desserts it is the sides. The Green bean casserole, collards, candied yams, etc. I think I will just eat less this year. I don't want to mess up a good thing. HA HA! Mon, 15 Nov 2010 13:39:42 EST Ready to make health a priority! Hi, everyone--I'm a mom of two little girls, a Jersey transplant to the West Coast, and a full-time teacher. In the last year I've let my health become less and less of a priority. I've become an emotional eater, and I've made lots of excuses for why I have no time to exercise. Argh.

Those days are over--I'm excited to join such a dynamic network of folks committed to their health, and I'm ready to take back control.

Looking forward to getting to know more of you! <BR... I am looking to loose about 50-60 pounds. How do I do that when I hate exercise? It sucks being fat. I do not know how to get started. My weakness is sushi with seafood sauce.... mmmm. when I found out how many calories are in one roll..... WOW. I'm depressed now. Wed, 20 Oct 2010 10:57:52 EST Could you? Would you? *Off Team Topic* I know this isn't diet related, but I'd really love to see this team come together so we can share in the joy's and the downfalls of being a working parent.

So this topic is totally non-diet related.

If you COULD be a stay at home mom - WOULD you? I'm trying something different since I have seemed to have hit a plateau with my motivation to losing my last 10 - 20 pounds. I love the name of this team. I would love to hear how you all find the time to fit in exercise since that is my biggest challenge. Sun, 3 Oct 2010 23:45:50 EST Halloween Madness challenge Because at the end of this month we are going to be infultrated by the temptation of candy our children bring home from their night of adventure, I thought we need to do a last ditch effort toward losing pounds before the holidays. I noticed when shopping for my daughter (5) she is at a weird size 6X is too tight in the waist and 7's are 4 inches to long for her. Mon, 30 Aug 2010 09:37:47 EST When exercising do you_____ When exercising do you stay at a steady speed throughout your workout or do you fluctuate your speed. I go to the gym and I see people go from walking slow to running on the treadmill then back to walking. I do not do that. Every 3 minutes I up my speed slowly and then back down to cool off. That way I am not staying at the exact same speed. I do the same on my bike every 2.5 minutes I up the level so that by the time I am done I have challenged myself. What are your exercise techniques... Wed, 25 Aug 2010 10:06:25 EST Sparkpeople... Do you?? What is your goal? Mon, 19 Jul 2010 10:33:38 EST What's your motivation? For the past few weeks I have gotten off track. It started with the flood in my house, then my husband came back from a military deployment. So I have been lazy and not exercising or watching what I have been eatting. My problem with dieting is I do good for a while but lose motivation and vier off track. I know I want to be skinny but always find myself back to square one after doing good for 5 or 6 months. I need a shot of motivation! Wed, 14 Jul 2010 09:14:27 EST Sorry I have been MIA Well the past two weeks have been insane. It started with my washing machine flooding my house. One inch of water in the kitchen, utility room, 1/2 bath, formal dining rooma and into my family room. It just continued to fill while I was upstairs taking and shower, doing my makeup and getting ready. Needless to say it took me two shop vacs and 5 days of fans to get my house close to normal. Then the hectic started. My husband returned back from his military deployment on Monday so right ... Wed, 30 Jun 2010 11:45:00 EST When it rains it pours This past weekend my house flooded. Needless to say I have not worked out on the bike or the treadmill because I got all of my exercise with a shop vac. HA HA I have been sleeping downstairs b... Tue, 22 Jun 2010 10:05:40 EST Hello So I've been part of this SparkTeam for awhile, but I've never really gotten into the posting thing, but I'm really trying to Spark my SparkPeople experience and I figure, what better place to start than with people I have a common bond with.

I've been a SparkPeople member for a couple of years I think and I've managed to maintain the weight that I have been so determined to lose. I can't say that I've been trying very hard though.

I am a mother of two beautiful girls,... Wed, 16 Jun 2010 15:06:50 EST Do you have a cub scout/boy scout? My son is very shy. We purchased our house almost two years ago and this year when going to the bus stop he will not speak to anyone. There are like 20 kids at the stop in the morning. I just joined him in the scouts (wolf) to see if it will help. I want him to have play dates and sleep overs but at this point I would settle for a couple friends. ha ha!

It was funny because he had his first meeting last night and 4 children from the bus stop were there. They all welcomed him... Fri, 11 Jun 2010 14:20:57 EST weak ankles? Ever since I was 16 and had a BAD sprained ankle playing volleyball outside I constantly roll my left ankle. At least twice a year I get roll it to the point of bruising it. About 4 weeks ago I rolled my ankle walking back from the bus stop. No I did not trip on anything I just rolled it after I got my son on the bus. Last night I was helping my son do a handstand and my daughter got between my feet and rolled it again. I am so scared one day I am just going to break it because it hurts ... Wed, 9 Jun 2010 09:32:28 EST Body Mass Index Goal by the end of 2010 My current Body Mass Index according to Spark is 32.7 which is Obese. When I started on January 1 I was 35.2 so I have lost 2.5 body mass. I would like to by the end of this year be at 28 which would mean I need to have lost 43 pounds in 2010. My ultimate goal is to lose 76 pounds but I would rather take the weight off at a health pace and not have it come back, while learning healthy eating habits.

What is your Body Mass Index Goal for the year? Mon, 7 Jun 2010 09:08:34 EST What will you bring to a Memorial Day picnic? Sometimes it is hard on the holiday's to eat healthy but I think Memorial Day and July 4th are the easist. You can always throw something healthy on the grill and not feel deprived. This year I think I am going to do grilled chicken, roasted veggies on the grill, a watermelon, maybe a pasta salad. What will you bring to your picnic? Wed, 26 May 2010 08:58:56 EST What is your dream size and weight? I would like to be 130 lbs and a size 10 or less. Not sure what size 130 would put me at. I was 134 when I graduated high school and I thought I was sooo fat! Tue, 18 May 2010 09:39:32 EST HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY I just wanted to take the time to wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day. Sat, 1 May 2010 22:19:53 EST PTA Mom I was just wondering how many people have school age children and how many are in the PTA?

I joined the PTA when my son started Kindergarten last year. People at first told me it was a waste of time so I did not expect much. What I learned was allot! The PTA does allot for the school that parents are not even aware of. Teacher appreciation things all year long, fund raisers, assisting the teachers in their daily rountines, most of the little extras at school (other than the act... Tue, 27 Apr 2010 09:58:11 EST What are you doing for Earth Day? Tonight at my son's school they are having Earth Day festivities. I am a volunteer so I will be in charge of the pudding, gummy worm, cookie crumb snack bar where the kids will be creating their own snacks. I am sure it is going to get messy but it will be fun. Thu, 22 Apr 2010 09:08:58 EST Food Bank challenge I am participating in a fund raiser for my job in which area law firms are competeing against each other to see what law firm can get the most food and money donations donated to the area food bank. Astonishingly I discovered, in the process of heading it up for our office, that 1 out of 8 families used the food bank last year alone. That was pretty scarey since I had been stuffing my face all last year. Our drive ends tomorrow and we have done pretty good. I thought maybe if anyone wante... Thu, 15 Apr 2010 09:33:36 EST Thinking of quitting my job... Well, have worked 40+ plus hours up to the date my daughter was due, and returned to it shortly after. Had a meeting with my bosses last week now know there is no hope of promotion, training, or raise in the future, if ever. Have sacrificed a lot- maybe too much - even worked my daughter's 1st Christmas... May be coming to the realization now - a little too late - that some companies reward hard work and sacrifice, but others just will replace you at the drop of a hat.
I am consideri... Thu, 8 Apr 2010 14:53:13 EST Why do we keep going back to old habits? I feel like part of the reason I've struggled with weight for so long is because I'm not really sure what's behind it. I've gone on binges before where the whole time I just keep thinking to myself "Why are you doing this? This doesn't even taste good! I'm not actually hungry, so why do I keep eating?". For me, I know I eat a lot due to boredom, stress and sadness. I recognized that a few years ago, but for some reason it just wasn't enough to make me change. Now I have a little motivati... Thu, 8 Apr 2010 13:58:36 EST Television and children I have been fortunate enough to have been both a working mom and a stay at home mom and I have heard both sides of the spectrum about television watching and children. I will confess it has been a babysitter while I was cooking dinner in my house. Now that my son is 7 he now watches Nick and sometimes cartoon network. Do you have Television restrictions, assigned times, etc.? Tue, 6 Apr 2010 13:23:21 EST What is your body type? I am 5 ft 5 inches tall and I carry my weight in my middle, stomach, butt, hips! I read bloggs from people who weight 180 pounds and wear a size 10. When I weighted 180 I was still a 16 because of how I carry my weight.

What is your body type? Wed, 17 Mar 2010 16:07:25 EST Are you just returning to the work force? I returned to the work force in 2007 after being at home for 3 years. I remember the guilty that followed me everyday. I would come home from work and spend every moment with the kids and forget about myself. My son would say things like "I liked it better when you were my teacher" He was 4 when I returned to work and my daughter was 2. Little comments like that would make me feel like a failure as a mom. That and we have friends that the wife stays home and I would work. She would alwa... Thu, 11 Mar 2010 09:10:36 EST St. Patrick's Day recipes Every year I throw a St. Patricks Day party with a maiden name like o'Berry it is a must. I should be a camel. I was just wondering how everyone else is doing with their water goals? Tue, 23 Feb 2010 08:50:18 EST It's all a test! Sorry I have been away most of the week. It all started over two weeks ago with a pulled tendon in my foot, then both of my children sick over Valentines weekend, then on Monday I came down with a stomach virus and yesterday I went to the dentist only to discover I needed a root canal. I know this is all a test to see if I can be derailed from my goal. But I am happy to say I have not gained any weight back and I am still losing. I lost another pound this week.

After I get my... Fri, 19 Feb 2010 09:09:21 EST A typical Mom's Valentines Day! Saturday afternoon my son (7) tells me his stomach does not feel good. I touch him and he is burning up with fever so I give him motrin and he lays down on the love seat. My daughter (5) then says my tummy doesn't feel good. (thinking she is doing it for attention because she is not hot like her brother) I tell her to relax and lay down. She then proceeds to vomit everywhere. I was up and down all Saturday night between fevers with son and vomiting daughter. My valentines day included at... Mon, 15 Feb 2010 14:48:24 EST Lose 30% of your weight loss goal by June 1st I was thinking that most of us have goals that will take about a year to reach. Some less than that so I was thing that maybe we should start a challenge that would carry us over a few months. My original goal was to lose 76 pounds. I do not know if I will get it all done in a year but I am going to give it my all. I have 67 lbs to go and 30% of my weight loss goal would be 20.4 pounds from todays date. That would give me a little over three months to reach my goal and be down to 182.6 lbs. D... Mon, 8 Feb 2010 12:00:17 EST What fitness equipment do you have? Sun, 7 Feb 2010 09:49:13 EST Being derailed from my goal Monday I was on a roll. We had a snow day and I walked on the treadmill for an hour, then I did the wii with the kids and later took Tae Kwon do with my kids. It was great and I felt great. Later that night my foot was a little sore and I thought I must have done to much in the day. By 3:30 a.m. I was in extreme pain and went to the emergency room. They said I had some sort of heal issue along with tendonistis (sp). They gave me vicodin and ibuprofen. I took vicodin like crazy and noth... Sat, 6 Feb 2010 08:07:53 EST tips for sneaking in extra exercise and sleep I use to keep hand weights in my kitchen so while my stuff is cooking I would do my reps. What is your goal? Wed, 27 Jan 2010 09:02:17 EST I survived Chuck E. Cheese! My Daughter turned 5 on Tuesday and my son 7 on Saturday so we had their birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. Last year we had a double party at our house. I was nice but I had to prepare the food and decorations and clean up afterwards for about 40 people. This year we decided to try something different. We had it at 11 a.m. in the morning which turned out so good because we were the only ones there for at least the first 30 minutes. It did not get crowded until after our party was over. ... Mon, 18 Jan 2010 09:51:55 EST Ideas on how to include your kids in workouts We all struggle with working, being a mom and trying to look after ourselve properly. Playing with your kids always counts
(dancing, playing WII fit, taking a stroll when they are little)
2. Any recommendations on what to buy? My friend has the dance game which is alot of exercise but it only has 36 songs on it. I am wondering how long it will be before I know all the songs and dances. Are the fitness games to same. Same workouts, etc.? Sat, 9 Jan 2010 21:56:18 EST 5 % Short term challenge My other challenge to you was a year long destination challenge. We need a team goal whether it is loss weight, find time to exercise, find time to do things for ourselves guilt free. Now that we will be getting monthly noticifcations about each team we belong to I thought it would be good to set a team goal. Any ideas? Fri, 17 Oct 2008 15:35:32 EST We hit 100!!!!!!!!!!!! We finally hit 100 members. I know that we do not have that many active in our team discussions but I am so proud. Who would have known there are so many of us out there with so much in common! HUGS TO ALL OF YOU! Fri, 17 Oct 2008 15:26:59 EST Veered off track I haven't done too well this last month. As I have told in other posts, we are in the process of doing our own basement for our new house. I had no idea how long this would take us to do on our own. It will be worth it in the long run ($$$), but it has taken up alot of time and energy. We have been eating out ALOT and I have done next to no formal workouts. I know that working on the basement can be a workout, but it isn't always hardwork, sometimes just time consuming work. I am the "he... Mon, 6 Oct 2008 08:20:47 EST October Motivation Okay my new challenge for myself this month (October) is 900 minutes of cardio this month. So far this morning I have done

10/1/08 - 45 minutes cardio and walked 2.5 miles Wed, 1 Oct 2008 09:27:56 EST New from the NW Hello ladies!!! I am new here and overwhelmed with my houselife. I am a 35 year young mom to five boys from teens to my little one who is my toddler. I am a full time Chef at a huge hospital and love it! It has been a challenge to maintain my job, my boys (especially), and my "me" time. I would love to join in and enjoy my journey with your help. I have 40+ pounds to lose and plan to lose it! I need my energy back to be happier and feel better. Hope to get to know you.t/c Sat, 27 Sep 2008 10:21:11 EST I was bad this weekend! I did good in that I stayed busy taking the kids here and their (the fair and the zoo) but I exceeded my calories on Saturday and was close to exceeding them yesterday. I really need to get a handle on my eating. At the fair I had ribbons fries, barbeque sandwish, lemonade. I did not cave with the funel cake or the cotton candy though. Mon, 22 Sep 2008 09:51:54 EST Weighing in? So we have all talked about this a bit. How are all of you doing it? Everyday, 2 days a week? 1 day a week? 1 time a month?

I have been measuring once every few weeks and weighing "officially" once a week. BUT I just can't seem to stop myself from jumping on that scale a few mornings a week just to "check" my progress.

Today just happened to be my weigh day, down .6 pounds this week. Better than a gain, but geesh, after 21/2 weeks back to the grind after Liam's ... Thu, 18 Sep 2008 17:43:15 EST Got new clothes... I went shopping yesterday, something I usually HATE to do. I was able to get the sizes I expected (optimistically expected), and think I will feel better about the way I look when my clothes are falling off of me...they are much more form flattering! Yeah! I got 3 new pair of jeans, and 6 shirts at The Vanity...I love that store. I was really itimidated by it the first time I went, looked like "skinny girl clothes," but I have been pleasantly surprised by their options. Plus, I had an aw... Thu, 18 Sep 2008 08:59:29 EST Countdown to wedding (Nov. 8) The countdown to the wedding is hear...I have 12 more pounds to lose prior to this wedding on Nov. 8th. It will be a little tough, but I think I can do it. Please help push me along! Thu, 4 Sep 2008 17:44:46 EST What's for dinner? I don't know about the rest of you, but somedays, I try hard to figure out what is for dinner. I think it can help to share the hard thoughts.

Today, nothing challenging...just having a little Tuna Helper, some broccoli, and a piece of bread.

Anybody else interested? Thu, 4 Sep 2008 17:41:23 EST Anyone with a kindergartener? Yesterday was my son's first day of kindergarten! He was so cute standing in line in front of the school with his backpack. He attends a morning and afternoon childcare that buses him to kindergarten. He really wanted to ride the bus so we meet the bus at the school for pictures. He was also the most handsome of the little boys in line. Of course I have mom eyes.

We went to open house/meet the teacher last Thursday and I am proud to say I am now a PTA mom. I can't wait to get... Wed, 3 Sep 2008 10:38:32 EST September motivation I thought with the summer now rapping up and fall around the corner we should do a challenge to get some of us moving. I have been bad the month of August due to back and neck problems, but expect to get the clearance to exercise once again next week. So I plan on starting off slow. No weigh in's involved just to get us moving.

I thought it would be fun to set a cardio time goal like for the month and log in your time to reach your goal.

For me 600 minutes of cardio f... Thu, 28 Aug 2008 08:29:21 EST What's your labor day like? I know most people have cookouts. Some do the shopping. What do you do?

I am planning a camping trip. We are going with two other couples and their children (6 children total). I plan on roasting marshmellows, cooking chicken and corn on the grill and spending most of the day in the pool (Weather permitting. Thu, 28 Aug 2008 08:22:36 EST New to team Hello Everyone! After too many years of letting myself go and promising to start tommorrow, I am ready! I hate my body, and feel it truly holds me back from being as happy as possible! I joined SP 2 months ago and am down about 10 pounds. I just found a few new teams (this being one of them) and thought it never hurts to have a bigger support system! :)

I am a newly wed, newly moved, newly employed mom of one (9 y.o. girl)! Add all of those "news" and stick it right to my already ... Sat, 23 Aug 2008 14:56:19 EST What is your dream size? We all have ideas on what our own personal dream size would be. Right now I would like to be a 10/12. But secretly I would love to see a single diget. Thu, 14 Aug 2008 08:49:04 EST Haven't been feeling well lately... I haven't been feeling well the last several days. It started Friday evening after going to a festival. I figured it was from eating a greasy corndog and drinking a few drinks. Hasn't gotten any better. Have diarrhea (as if anybody wanted to know that) and nausea. I am trying to push through this, but it stinks. Supposed to start my period today or tomorrow, maybe it will help???? Anyway, just thought I would share. If doesn't get better soon, will have to be forced to see the doctor. Tue, 15 Jul 2008 01:31:09 EST Want to eat everything now... Okay, I am hoping that logging on will help me get past this feeling of wanting to eat everything/anything in site. My next plan is to get some more water and chew a piece of gum. Anybody else havingt this feeling today? Other helpful ideas? Sun, 13 Jul 2008 17:28:56 EST Been Gone Way To Long Hey Everyone

I'm Whitney - I joined this group back when it was just 3 of us. Sandy and I and one other person. I fell off the wagon and sort of put SP at the back of my mind as I concentrated on eating.

I've been back on track and after going back up to 215 lbs I'm back down to 206 and bound and determined to be a better person and SP buddy.

I have a 2 1/2 year old named Hailey and I know that she is my everything, my reason for being. Sun, 6 Jul 2008 18:56:53 EST July Challenge... Time to start thinking of a July Challenge.

I am challenging myself to get down to 160 lbs. by the end of July! I intend to do this by watching my serving size, adding fruits and veggies, and working out at least 3 times per week.

What are you thinking for your July Challenge? Thu, 26 Jun 2008 13:23:51 EST Ordered bridesmaid dress for wedding... I ordered a bridesmaid dress for my brother-in-laws wedding this weekend. Now I REALLY have to behave. It wasn't something that I would generally choose, but the bride really liked it on me, so I gave in. I ordered size 12 (size I wear now), but there isn't any "extra" room in it, and I have a little toning to do to make me more comfortable in the dress. I have posted a picture of the dress on the refrigerator, in the pantry, and on my locker at work for extra motivation. I know that I a... Thu, 26 Jun 2008 13:20:15 EST What is/was your biggest challenge today? What is/was your biggest challenge today? And, how did it go?

One of my biggest challenges in any day is getting through the time between 2pm and supper time (6pm). Today, my goal is to have a healthy snack like fruit or yogurt when I feel the need to snack. Fri, 20 Jun 2008 10:14:05 EST Flooding... Has anybody else been dealing with all the floodwaters? My husband and I, along with many dedicated friends, have been sandbagging for 4 days. My in-laws own a bar in Illiois along the Mississippit River, and unfortunately after 4 days of sandbagging and extremely hard labor and hope, the bar flooded last night despite all of the hardwork. Just wondered if anybody else has been dealing with this as well. Tue, 17 Jun 2008 15:56:46 EST How did you exercise today?... Today, I was lucky enough to get off work early, so I decided to make the most of it. I came home and exercised with The Firm's Hi-Def Sculpt Express Option. I actually felt like I was ready to increase to the full video after today's video. I am proud of myself for doing this, because in the past, I would have just sat and watched tv (I'm on-call, and cannot go get my baby until later). Tue, 17 Jun 2008 15:53:37 EST Raising children with healthy body images I'm curious: If you have boys, do you feel that you need to promote the "healthy body image" to them, or is that something that moms to girls face pretty much alone? Times sure have changed since I was a kid. It was rare to see overweight boys/men. Maybe that's just my perception, but it seems that weight loss was more a "female" problem back when I was a kid. Seeing all the guys on Spark, obviously they have the same struggles we do.

But I digress: What do you do to promote a... Tue, 17 Jun 2008 13:17:13 EST HI, my name is Paula Hello, my name is Paula. I have a 1 year old (on June 19th), and work as an RN is surgery at a small hospital. I absolutely love being a mommy. I also enjoy my job, but it doesn't always give me much time or energy at the end of the day. I also have to take "call" and have to work until after Cale has to go to bed usually about 1-2 times/week. Finding time for exercising and cooking healthy foods is very difficult, but I am trying.

I hope that this will be a group that may be ... Sun, 15 Jun 2008 15:08:14 EST life style change vs. diet Since coming back to Spark a year ago I have stopped dieting. I use to go on fade diets or weight watchers lose 20 and then gain it right back when I would eating like my old self again. I am proud to say that has come to an end. My family has changed allot in the past year we do not view food the same. I will admit every so often we lose track for a week or so and fall back into trips to dairy queen and fast food but we always pull ourselves back to reality.

We do not want o... Thu, 12 Jun 2008 09:37:29 EST Pre K Graduation I wanted to announce that my son will be graduating from Pre K tommorrow. I have very mixed feelings about this. I am excited for my son and I am sure he is going to look so handsome standing up there. However, I started thinking on my drive to work this morning how many graduations is he going to have? Pre K, Kindergarten, Elementary School, Middle School, High school, College? Doesn't that seem a little much? Doesn't it take away from the true importance of graduation when you go thro... Thu, 5 Jun 2008 09:34:56 EST Hi my Name is Stacey I was always slim throughut my teen years and about 5 years ago I started to put on weight and didn't even realize it.

Then I became preganant (after 2 years of trying) and did NOT eat or exercise properly (I plan to be healthier with our next one). Thu, 29 May 2008 14:40:53 EST Fear Of Losing Weight For me, today my biggest issue is that I am really stuck in my fear of losing weight, I would love to hear any thoughts you may have.

I have come to know that for me that is what is holding me back at this point. Fears that I know are irrational but that get in the way any way.

Fear that if i don't have being overweight to hide behind my real inadequacies will show.

Fear that I will out grow people whether it is because they will be uncomfortable with the c...
