SparkPeople Gluten-Free and Healthy Team Messageboard http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individual.asp?gid=12470 This is a group for people who either have Celiac's disease, have an allergy to gluten/wheat, or those who choose to follow a gluten-free way of eating. SparkPeople Gluten-Free and Healthy Team Messageboard http://www.sparkpeople.com/assets/nav/nav_logo_v3.gif http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individual.asp?gid=12470 Shopping for gluten free http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x12470x58966415 I have shopped at Aldi's for years. They have marked their everyday foods Gluten Free for years. But now they have opted to put their LiveGFree line out everyday and are adding to it!! So excited!! The prices are right and they taste good. I have been so tired of going to this store and that store to pick up this and that. Ordering a few things online here and there. I am a lazy shopper and to pick it all up in one place is perfect for me :) Wed, 27 Aug 2014 17:20:33 EST Newly diagnosed http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x12470x58771642 Hi my name is Jackie and I was diagnosed with celiac in May. Sometimes I feel like I am at an AA meeting when I have to admit that to people. It changes where my family and friends can eat out if we are going together. I bring food with me everywhere after being given cross contaminated food. Still mourning the food I can no longer eat but feel much better. Headaches , bloating, and joint pain are gone. Thu, 7 Aug 2014 12:55:23 EST 100% is my goal! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x12470x58732069 Greetings! While I am not new to gluten free eating I am new to the board. I look forward to receiving great recipe ideas and support to continue GF from all of you. It's been almost 4 years since I've endeavored to be 100% GF. While I am successful 80-90% of the time, there are those times when nothing beats a flour tortilla for that burrito. As the years have gone by, though, the effects aren't worth the splurge. Sun, 3 Aug 2014 16:45:10 EST new to this group http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x12470x58700319 I found out by trial and error that I have issues with gluten. I don't know how to explain it other than when I go back to eating gluten it weakens my immune system. Once back on it for a couple of months I start with the infections, eye, ear, uti, etc. It is so not worth eating those foods. I know some people don't believe in it, but I think leaky gut is a real thing! Anyway, wish I could come up with an easy, tasty bread recipe so I could eat sammies again! Any input? <em>4</em> Thu, 31 Jul 2014 11:27:14 EST New to Team http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x12470x58615630 Hi Y'all, Been wheat-free and mostly grain-free for over a year now. Lovely results. 120 calories per serving, and half a gram of fat, so it can easily replace toast at breakfast, or accompany a bowl of soup. <BR> <BR> I also bought their whole grain gluten free bread mix, but haven't baked with it yet. I was tested for Celiac's but it was inconclusive as my immune system was highly suppressed when I was tested. I know that when I'm off gluten and most grains I do much better! I am drawing a total blank and we haven't made it to the store to purchase anything gluten free. There has to be something out there that doesn't involve bread, wraps or pasta. Ideas anyone? I looked at a website to see what Green Giant vegetables were listed as gluten free and there was only a small handful. The problem though, is that when I went to the Green Giant website and looked at the ingredients of the products that weren't listed as gluten free, none had anything that looked like oats, barley, wheat, or gluten. My names is Belinda and I'm new to Spark people. I came across this site while researching healthy eating tips for people with wheat allergies. At this point I'm alittle over-whelmed. I have a family of pasta and bread eaters, so no wheat for me is going to be a huge change. Any advice, tips of good books to read, or web sites to check out would be great!
