We seem to have all figured out how to coexist and love each other. This is the fewest pets we've had since being married 31 years ago. At one time we had 6 cats, all inside. That was a crazy time. I'm new to your team AND SP. I love it so far! I joined weight watchers on May 27th of this year and so far I've lost 32 lbs. I just joined SP two days ago and dropped out of weight watchers. I just thought it was to expensive and since SP was practically free (I joined the premium sp for a fourth of what I was paying weight watchers monthly). I'm 51 and when I was in my 40's I had two total knee replacements. I'm a Christian, total cat lover, happily married and live in the beautiful oza... I couldn't find that she stepped on anything or had an injury per se. I figured she had arthritis, and this surmise turned out to be true. Her veterinarian has put her on a painkiller (a narcotic which I had to sign for) for 5 days, and I also bought the vitamin supplement she recommended. It is the same thing my Uncle takes for his arthritic back, glucosamine chondroitin in cat form... It was probably more traumatic for me, although Louie would disagree, I'm sure. I would have put it off a bit longer, but Louie has been pulling the fur out from his front legs more than usual. He had this issue when I first got him from the shelter. They said it was from a bad declaw job (don't get me started declawing!). It left his little foot a bit deformed also. He's quite affectionate...especially when he is purring and leans up against you for support...but then falls down anyway. I didn't know cats could get diabetes - but apparently males are at an increased risk, as are overweight cats. My cat isn't really that overweight -- he's 14 pounds, but he's a pretty tall and muscular cat. <BR> <BR> I have to bring him back to the vet on Wednesday, to learn how to give insulin shots twice a day and how to test his blood glucose once a week. That means I work with cats that have been so mistreated that they are so scared to death . They are not adoptable. So with plenty of TLC I get them back to where they trust people again and can be adoptable. It's a lot of work . But now I need some TLC in helping me to loose... I am indeed a cat lover and when I saw this team I just knew I had to join. <BR> Right now, my poor baby Mimi (6 months old) is at the vet. She has been pretty sick, and the first vet seems to have ignored her symptoms (or perhaps he just never did the tests he should have) and now she seems to be in pretty bad shape after I took her to a second vet. Tue, 5 Feb 2013 13:00:59 EST Declawing question http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1216x51952533 I read in another topic where someone said declawing was pretty traumatic. I was wondering if that is how most of you think or not. I have heard before that it is very traumatic and have even heard that many vets do not approve of it. I was talking to a friend of mine and she said I should get Orzo declawed because he wouldn't be able to do anything to Cassie that way. She had a cat that they were advised to declaw by her vet. II am not planning to have Orzo declawed if I can help it. H... But, does anyone have any ideas about fur loss? Steve has a tough start in life. At our house, he's been healthy and living outside and happy as a clam, but he now lives inside and got two siblngs Anyway, he seems to be losing his fur, although I don't see it fall out or shed. And I don't see furballs anywhere. I thought he was stressed from moving inside and getting si... Cassie is fine with the cat but Orzo did NOT like her coming in the house. He seems to have calmed down some today. Yesterday he attacked her for just trying to get some attention and had Cassie running for her life. I think Orzo realizes that she isn't going to be mean to him, but is jealous now. Is ther a way to get him more comfortable around her? He did sneak a sniff of her today instead of just hissing and humping his... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 22:51:47 EST Hello! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1216x51839785 Cat lovers, unite! Hi, I am Gloria. I have been on SparkPeople before but didn't really utilize the forums and community support back then. This time, I definitely am! I have three kitties, all of them are old. I had five and I miss the other two terribly, but we aren't getting any new ones for a while. Can anyone tell me how to shut Orzo up in the early morning? Yesterday I didn't fall asleep until 5;00 and he started yowling at me at 6:30 because he wanted me to turn on the water in the bathtub so he could get a drink. I had gotten him fresh water in his bowl just a few hours before and he had drank from the faucet just before I went to bed. This morning I had to get up at 4:00 and he was not interested in getting a drink from the faucet. At le... Tue, 22 Jan 2013 13:50:15 EST collars http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1216x51689411 I got Orzo one of those break-away collars and a tag with his name and my phone number so just in case he sneaks out someone could get him back to me. It is also required if you adopt from Dumb Friends. He took it off about a half hour after I put it on him. I guess he just stuck his paw through and pulled and the fastener came apart. So I put the one from Dumb Friends back on him and later put his new one back on. he took the Dumb Friends one off last night. So far he has the new one o... I'm new to SparkPeople and this group and really enjoying this site. A big, beautiful fluffy cat has been visiting my house 3-4 times per week crying for food. I have three house cats and plenty of food and fed him -- this is why he comes back. He is very assertive and will run into my garage when I arrive home or try to come in the front door when I am checking the mail. Once he did get inside and bolted for the kitchen and while I'm trying to catch him/chase him out, he mana...
