Tue, 27 Oct 2009 15:48:14 EST Little Things Add Up! What do you do to add an extra burst of calories burned throughout the day?

I thought about this and realized that when I go to the bathroom at work, I can run to the ground floor, then run up to the top floor and back to my office. It takes 10 minutes and I feel like I've done so much more! Thu, 1 Oct 2009 18:46:00 EST Running Paths in Thornton Does anyone have any favorite running paths near 120th & Holly? I am a treadmill runner and want to make the transition from indoor to outdoor running, but aside from the Eastlake path, don't know where else to go. I can run approximately 4 - 5 miles on the treadmill, but when I last made the attempt to run outside could barely go a mile. I really want to try to run a race but can't do it on the treadmill, so I need to acclimate myself to the great outdoors. Thanks for any suggestions.
... I did't get a post on the boards last week as I have been out of town with no internet access. Came home today to over 200 emails, mostly from SparkPeople. I went to Kansas City to see a good friend and walk my 17th 1/2 marathon (7th this year). It was a great time. My week should be fairly quiet as my hubby is off hunting, my older son works nights and sleeps all day and my youngest is in high school. Mon, 28 Jul 2008 22:03:24 EST New and looking for some buddies! Hi everyone! I was so surprised to find a board just for Thornton-ites! I've been a member for a while but haven't really utilized all the tools that are available to me here, and have decided to really commit to my goals of losing weight and getting in shape. I live on 108th & Colorado, just a block or so from the Thornton Rec Center where I have a membership. Anyone else work out there? I would LOVE to find some people that might want to start meeting up for workouts or aerobics classes! Or... Wed, 2 Apr 2008 05:14:49 EST Hello Thorton Spatkers I'm new here again and would love to make some friends along the way! 249 Sat, 22 Mar 2008 01:20:44 EST Most holidays center around food and drink Obviously, the most recent one I'm speaking of is St. Patricks day. And I don't think Guiness is on my list of "good" for me drinks either. It seems there's a holiday in every month. How does everyone beat back the temptations? I need help avoiding food, but still enjoying friends and fun times. The whole "just take one bite" approach doesn't work for me as I'm a binger and that's like asking an alcoholic to take "just a sip." How can I ask friends to get together to play cards or games... Mon, 17 Mar 2008 22:53:48 EST Did everyone get outside on Saturday? It was absolutely beautiful yesterday. I spent the whole day outside. We literally spent all day outside (9am - 5pm). We spent the day riding bikes, roller blading, playing basketball and taking a walk. We were exhausted by the end of the day. Only thing we forgot was the sunscreen! My husband, son and I all got sunburned! Sun, 2 Mar 2008 17:48:36 EST New to the Thornton Forum Hello my Thornton neighbors! It's great to see that there are people nearby. I have quite a bit of weight to lose, so any advise anyone can give, I would appreciate it. Wed, 27 Feb 2008 23:38:28 EST It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend... So I hear it is supposed to be a beautiful weekend. I hope to go for at least a walk with my husband and dogs. (He doesn't jog.) Do any of you have fun plans this weekend? Thu, 21 Feb 2008 11:02:33 EST North Thornton Folks Who else here is from the North part of Thornton? I'm waaaaay in the North end. Like, if you go North out of my neighborhood you actually see the "Leaving Thornton" sign. :)

Has anyone seen the plans for the huge new park and rec area they're going to be putting in at 136th and Holly, across from Horizon HS? The first stage is just some lighted multipurpose fields, due to be complete in 2009. But the future plans show a reservoir with walking paths, a dog park, a rec center, a wate... Yes, I know that's weird, I'll tell you all the story some other time. Anyway, I'm always looking for someone to join me at the gym, so let... Mon, 21 Jan 2008 22:34:58 EST How is everyone?
