I love being able to talk to other beautiful, tall ladies because you aren't shooting to be 110 lbs or something crazy like that. I'm excited to share this journey with you all. I just tell people 5'10 bc it's just easier to say. I am absolutely, brand spankin' new to sparkpeople. I am on a journey to finally lose this weight for good. As many others I am sure have shared, I have had my battles with weight for the past 14 years. Since I hit my lovely pubescent years, my body has never been quite the same! ;)

I am currently 190.2. At my highest... I was 227.. (big breath... woa nelly!) It ... I was browsing though the SparkTeams the other day and thought it would be good to join this group, I figured it could give my a much needed perspective that I've needed about my height.

OK so I confess that for most of my life I have hated being tall... I was pretty tall when I was only just eleven or twelve and it was a bit difficult sticking out so much from everyone else even remotely my age. Nearly all my friends to this day are around ... Originally I planned to work out 5 cardio days at 40 minutes per session. I've been doing that and then some. So, I decided let me up the time by 20 minutes because I always do one hour work outs. Question...why did my caloric burn increase? I went from burning 1440 calories per week to well over 2,000! Since I am working out for longer periods of time wouldn't my weekly caloric burn remain the same but ... I'm now back and ready to lose this excess weight. By the way I'm 5'10...and excited to be a part of the Tall Ladies team :-) Tue, 15 Feb 2011 17:16:21 EST New tall girl! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x39814127 I'm brand new to SP and so far I'm completely thrilled. I've looked at lots of the SparkTeams but didn't feel compelled to post something until I found this one! What a treat to find a group of tall women. This is officially my first online community! I'm 6'1" and 202 lbs and I've been on an up and down on the weight elevator for quite a while. My main goal is just to be healthy and balanced. I was a little discouraged when everyone's goal weight was around 115-120, and mine is 175!! Talk about still feeling like the fat girl. I was so thrilled when I found a group for tall girls. I finally belong!! Haha.

Anyways, I am 24 and 5'11''. I have lost 45 pounds on my own since June, and I have 30ish more to go, hopefully by May. I was surprised to find one for tall girls, and it's kinda exciting. Anywho, i'm a little under 5'10 and am still making peace with it. I've love heels, but won't wear anything taller than 3". It's also so interesting how much people under estimate a tall girls weight! Most of the other groups I am in everyone's starting weight is not much higher than what my GOAL weight is. I try to keep the BMI scale in the back of my head and know that either they want to be crazy unhealthy skinny or they are (as usual) much shorter than I am. Here's to becoming and being long and lean! I gained back most if not all of my weight. So I've been back for a week, hope I can stick with it this time! (In spite of a few cheating episodes, I am 4 lbs down! woohoo).

But I just have a question for you other Tall Ladies...
I'm 5'9 and I have a pretty large frame (I mean my bones are kind of like a man's...). The girl in the back with the guys. It didn't help that I didn't like frilly dresses and for my kindergarden picture I showed up in a Michael Jackson t-shirt!

I am 5'9". I am finally happy with that. For years I wanted to be taller or shorter. Taller seemed so much cooler, and shorter meant I could wear high-heeled shoes and not tower over my date! But I no longer care. I have a man that loves me exactly as I am.

So happy I... There had been some rumor that the people planning it may push it back to sometime in late summer/fall. But I think they finally settled on a date of mid July.

My problem is that I've been 1 lb/week on average. That only gives me 6 weeks to lose weight, which is only 6 lbs. I have always been super tall but never super skinny, however that is not my goal at all. Tall women look kinda gross if they are too skinny. I would actually like to be in a single digit size, size 8, for the first time since like the 4th grade. My name is Aimee, I just turned 30, and I have no children. I was made fun of in school for being so tall, sometimes being called ogre (Go Shrek!), so I used to hate my height but now, I must say, it is pretty fabulous an... I am not trying to get super skinny but I would like to get back to about 175-180 my pre baby days and when I still had collar bones lol... I am taking it one day at a time. There is an "Athena" Category for those women weighing over 160#s. My goal is to not qualify to race at the Athena category, but it was such a pleasant image of beauty & strength, I found it encouraging. I'm 5'11 and whilst I don't have a weight loss goal (I'm 130lbs - got a tiny frame) I DO need to shape up as I'm what you'd call 'skinny fat'. I've been ill for the past 2 years and wasn't able to work out but now I am feeling a little better and am trying to get my fitness back on track - and gain some muscle! Looking forward to getting to know you. I was devastated. I was used to being 150 maximum and I hadn't really noticed the weight gain. I stopped logging in once Facebook came around and well here I am again. I am back up to 170 and not happy about it. I am hoping to be back to 155 soon! I have two daughters who are much taller than their peers and proud! My eight year old is 4'10" and my 6 year old is 4'4". Glad to be back earning points..sigh. This is my third year going so I know I will be fine with food choices. However, this time I would like add some fitness and would appreciate suggestions on what I should bring in case the hotel gym is crowded. This is a small Comfort Inn hotel with a small gym. I couldn't tell you how much equipment they have because I have only walked past it (on several occasions). Your help is greatly appreciated. Pant size I wear a 30 (size 10ish) and top size usually large (the twins have failed to shrink despite my weight loss). My name is Kelsey and I'm turning 19 in two weeks. I'm a full-time student in college. I'd like to lose about 20 pounds. I run almost everyday but I need to work on making better food choices, especially in the cafeteria, I'm looking forward to meeting people on here and I'm excited about reaching my goals! To make it more difficult...most of the boots now are flat or no heel at all. I am looking for knee boots, or over the knee boots with a high skinny heel and a pointy toe. I've been dieting off and on since April and have lost about 20lb so far, but it's time to get serious...

I'm originally from the UK (moved here 5 years ago) and I really want to get down to 135 by Xmas because I am going back on vacation... I went to Victoria Secret to try on bras and all the ones I tried on did not make them look natural. They had them sticking straight out like machine guns...lol...what bras do you wear that give your breast a natural look? Tue, 12 Aug 2008 12:18:21 EST Olympics? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1204x17533143 Anyone else a big Olympics watcher? I am a sport-aholic so it's no surprise I love them. I might like the Winter version a bit more but I think this proves I'll watch any sport :) The opening ceremonies last night were AMAZING!

And today it's been fun to watch all the sports - the women's indoor volleyball, fencing, and just now the women's beach volleyball - although I'm not a big fan of the tiny bathing suits they were it's great to see May/Walsh and I love how they were talkin... Sat, 9 Aug 2008 21:48:46 EST Tall sizes now at Old Navy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1204x17348421 According to an email I just got, Old Navy is unveiling their "Tall" sizes in ALL kinds of items: shirts, dresses, skirts, outerwear...not just pants!

I don't know if they'll be carrying the tall sizes in many or even any of the stores... I suspect it'll be like their "plus" line and mostly available on the website only. Even so, this is really awesome news for those of you who are losing weight and needing to reoutfit cheaply every few months!

I personally do find the... Mon, 4 Aug 2008 05:59:51 EST PMS weight fluctuation http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1204x17347543 Do you even bother to weigh yourself the day or two before your period? I weigh myself just once a week, and today I am bloated and the scale is NOT my friend. Do you all just omit weighing during PMS to prevent yourself from being discouraged? And, how much water weight do you usually have with PMS? Mon, 4 Aug 2008 02:16:58 EST Joining in! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x17327320 Hi everyone,

My name is Johanna and I am TALL 213 .

I am a 5'10" Mom of 4 great kids. I am on a journey to loose 30 pounds (going from 200 to 170). So far I am down to 188. I hope to fit into a size 14 when I am done! Sounds like a big size to most but TALL girls know this is like an average height persons size 6 lol.

I look forward to getting to know you all 220 Sun, 3 Aug 2008 09:20:47 EST How many calories do you eat per day? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1204x17273693 Hi everyone! I was just wondering what calorie amounts have worked for you as you have lost weight. I just increased the number of calories I was eating because I feel like my metabolism is stalling a bit, and I just started strength training, and didn't want to send my body into starvation mode. I'm aiming for about 1600-1700 calories per day now, up from 1400. Fri, 1 Aug 2008 09:12:36 EST 5'9" and New to the Team http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x17257666 Hi I'm Jaycee (or Jay) and a tall woman new to the team. I'm 5'9" and wanted to see if I was the only one that can lose 40 lbs and only 1 pant size! LOL! I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about though. I currently am down to my size 10s again, but want to lose another 10-20 lbs. Thu, 31 Jul 2008 18:36:55 EST Tall and new to this team! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x17217549 Hello!
I have been a SPARK gal for 3 months and am doing great. I thought this would be a nice team for support as I am 5'10" and also blessed with a large frame.

I have lost 20 pounds, and will lose 30 more - slowly but surely. I am a performing artist, in my early 40's and will start Nursing school at the end of August!

I plan to keep up with the younger students!
Very exciting!

Nice to meet y'all tall Ladies! Wed, 30 Jul 2008 16:58:24 EST NEW MEMBER http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x17079146 Hi, I'm Vicki, and I need to lose at least 50 lbs. Possibly more. I'm currently 224.4 lbs and my goal is 175 lbs. Once I meet the goal I may work to go a little lower.
I gained 90 lbs in just over 3 years when I went into full menopause and just can't seem to lose the weight as I had in the past. I lost 105 lbs in the early 80's and kept it off plus more for about 18 years.
Now I find myself sitting more on the fence; some days finding it really hard to stay motivated to get this ... Sat, 26 Jul 2008 14:23:02 EST Slight cheater, heh http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x16875513 So okay this group is for those women 5'9 and over, well technically I'm a quarter of an inch below 5'9, but I'm joining anyway. Lol. If nothing else I am the tallest person in my family except for my 6'1 brother, my parents are both less than 5'7 and some of my sisters are only about 5'2. I qualify in my own mind despite that measly .25" haha. Well anyway I'm 26, married with one daughter, and have been on SP for about 3 months. I haven't made a lot of progress physically but I'm gaining on ... Sun, 20 Jul 2008 14:18:11 EST Hi all! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x16804062 Thought that I would say a quick hello. I'm a 31 year-old teacher (6' 1/2" . . .can I round down to 6??) who has denied her weight long enough. Being tall doesn't mean being fat, or having that 2nd piece of pie! You can "hide" weight only up to a certain point . . . then it starts spilling out of your pants (lol). And seeing as to how I'm not going to buy new "big" clothes, then leaves one thing to do . . . make myself smaller!

I have tried Spark once before but gave up - this t... Thu, 17 Jul 2008 20:52:10 EST Not the big 1 any more! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1204x16760271 So finally today I got the compliment of "U look tall and skinny!" Even though I haven't grew an inch I guess losing weight makes you appear taller plus I have on some fitting clothes today...lol...anyways it felt good inside to be called skinny instead of always being referred to as "BIG!" I guess it will also help if I quit wearing my frumpy clothes that still make me look like I am 250 pounds....lol... Wed, 16 Jul 2008 14:49:54 EST Hello~ http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x16669059 Hi, I'm a 21 year old college student and about 6'1 and a half inches. This pretty much officially makes me an Amazon, don't you think? lol Sun, 13 Jul 2008 20:48:48 EST Are U taller/shorter then your significant other? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1204x16609675 With shoes on are you taller or shorter? Do you find yourself only wearing flats when with him in public or do you not care if you are taller? Luckily I bagged me a 6'6'' hubby. Fri, 11 Jul 2008 13:00:08 EST What size do you wear? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1204x16581470 As I tall lady I know we are all built differently but I was just wondering if you could tell me how tall you are and the size you wear in pants. I'm 6'0'' and right now I am wearing a 14. By the time I get to my goal weight I hope to be in a 10 or 12. Thu, 10 Jul 2008 15:19:26 EST Hi Ladies! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1204x16335814 Hi, I'm Katie. I'm a 22 yr. old busy college student trying to lose some weight. It's too bad it's not possible to shrink my size 12/13 feet along with my waistline.

It's nice to see a community of people with goal weights consistently higher than the 120s. At 6'1", I think I'd probably be near death if I weighed 120lbs. While I'm sure we all know that we should weigh much more than someone who is 5'3", sometimes it's difficult to remember. Wed, 2 Jul 2008 00:05:21 EST It's July.... How are you? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=2916x1204x16331703 Can you believe another month has gone by? 2008 is flying by as we now sit on July 1st.

How are you doing? Seeing results? Setting new goals? Fighting a plateau? Want to think out loud? Whatever it is ..stop on by and say hello and tell us... how are you? Tue, 1 Jul 2008 21:39:46 EST
