While I am not new to SP I am just recently returning. I have been nursing my daughter for about 9.5 months. I am on the fence about weaning versus allowing her to wean herself. She is still very much into I don't know that I want to take that away from her. I have lost 46 pounds since she was born in November 2013. I am looking forward to getting to know you all! Getting both kids breastfeeding was difficult to say the least because of their prematurity. I felt it was a huge accomplishment to nurse my first for a whole year!

My second little one just had her 2 month check up today and we found out she has a dairy sensitivity issue, so I'm having to go dairy-free- a new conce... Wed, 25 Jun 2014 19:40:12 EST Hello! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x57859115 I am a new Spark member. I have a beautiful 7 month old. I breastfeed & formula feed, I gained 40+ pounds in pregnancy and have 26lbs left to go. I need the balance between bingeing and strict dieting to do this as healthily as possible for both my baby & myself. Excited to start! Tue, 13 May 2014 12:09:51 EST Not losing weight http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x57697893 Hey ladies -

I just reached out to a personal trainer to get some support building strength and getting sleek. She mentioned that in her experience nursing moms just don't lose weight even if they are eating well and exercising a lot. That is most certainly my experience. The past two months I have stayed in my calorie range and exercising quite a lot. And while I was losing about a pound a week, I suddenly popped up again.

Is anyone else having this experience? Sigh. I am 32 weeks pregnant and soon to begin the journey of breastfeeding for the first time while getting back into the shape I was pre-pregnancy. I worked very hard to lose 35lbs before pregnancy and look forward to getting this pregnancy weight off while also being able to care for our new addition.

Neither of my 2 sisters or mother breastfed and have discouraged me from trying. I am looking for support from other mothers in my same situation and really excited to make ... Mon, 14 Apr 2014 23:46:50 EST Am I Getting Enough Calories? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x57510635 I've been entering in my breastfeeding as 400 calories a day into my fitness tracker and following the calorie guidelines, but I've been feeling dizzy lately. Is this a sign I'm not getting enough calories or is this just me being exhausted because I have a five month old? I have been pumping around 8 oz a day at the office and nursing at home, and my baby has reverse cycled (feeds more in the evening/during the night). I am taking prenatals. I am the proud mom of 7 great kids and am tandem nursing my 2 year old and 2 month old. I stay at home and am active with my kids but would like to get back to a healthy weight Mon, 7 Apr 2014 01:24:38 EST Hello all http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x57330490 I am a first time mom of a 16 months old. I am in the healthy BMI range, but almost at the overweight level. I want to lose weight while still breastfeeding. DD is still not sleeping through the night and nursing a lot. I am also back to work (and have been since she was 2 months old). So finding time to exercise has been difficult (especially after those sleepless nights after she gets a cold or a new tooth). But summer is almost here and I really want to be able to wear ALL my old clothes a... I'm sure a lot of you can sympathize with how much time I spend on the couch breastfeeding my 3.5 month old. It feels like that's where I spend all my time, but I'd rather sit there and be able to watch something on TV than sit in the nursing chair in her bedroom which is more supportive for my back. My lower back and neck/shoulders are killing me. Anyone have any suggestions for how to alleviate this? I'm Rachel, a 26yo stay at home mom to 4, my 12yo nephew, my 6yo son, my 4.5yo daughter, and another baby girl born on 12/30/13. I nursed my son for 14 months and my daughter for 10. I'm aiming for at least 12 months with my new daughter. When my son was little, I was able to count my calories (had to keep them above 1550 or my supply would drop), exercise, and I was able to loose my baby weight plus 20lbs. I'm hoping for to be able to breastfeed and loose some extra weight as well this t... This is pretty much what I've been afraid of in seriously trying to loose weight, but I'm still 20+ my pre baby weight, so I felt like I should be able to loose and it would be fine. I'm not going crazy dieting or exercising - still eating plenty more than I did when I use to try and loose weight, but all of a sudden I'm having a hard time pumping what I use to at work. I've been wearing my nursing bras still. They fit perfectly until the last week or so. They're a touch loose now that my breasts are shrinking again. We just had our first baby and I am about to hit my 6 weeks of recovery time. I am 214 right now and am ready to loose the baby weight. I have always struggled with my weight and want to get off to a fantastic start on Monday. I feel motivated more than ever (especially since we are not using birth control) it took many years to get our little guy. I want to be in much better shape if God gives us a second child. I've read that nursing moms should consume no less than 1500-1800 calories a day as to not effect their supply. I'm wondering, does the amount of calories needed change with the amount you work out? If I were to burn a bunch of calories would I need to increase my intake or keep in the 1500-1800 range to keep my supply up. I have a pretty high goal of los... Fri, 11 Jan 2013 18:08:27 EST Just starting, saying Hello! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x51485604 Hi! I had a baby, he's not soooo new, just turned five months but this is really the first time I have been ready to start thinking about losing some of the massive amount of weight I have gained throughout my pregnancy and five months of breastfeeding. Also - I am looking for whoever says breastfeeding helps you lose weight because I think that is a HUGE lie, I have gained weight! Sat, 5 Jan 2013 12:37:57 EST Saying Hi! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x51477058 Hi fellow mamas! I'm a mom to two girls. A 3 1/2 year old bundle of energy and my current nurseling who was born September 24.

I lost 30 lbs with SparkPeople beforegetting pregnant last winter and I'm more than ready to get back on the wagon.

I'm looking forward to connecting with other moms who are juggling health and parenthood! Fri, 4 Jan 2013 21:13:54 EST Recently weaned http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x51465462 My son was 6 weeks premature, and I gave him extra grace with breastfeeding because of that. At 20 months he finally weaned because of teething his canine teeth. Clearly "pain" was the reason he stopped, but the weaning had been long-coming, and it's a gift from God. Although my weaning was emotional and dark--as this may be my last child and I was savoring the breastfeeding bonding with him. Now, a 3 weeks later, I am beginning to enjoy the freedom. I do miss cuddling him at my bosom, b... Fri, 4 Jan 2013 08:08:48 EST New Mommy for the team! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x51452502 Hi all,
My name is Jenni and my son, Tristan, is 9 months old. I have always tried to eat well since I am breast feeding but have just recently (probably with the new year and all) committed to finally trying to get back to a healthier weight. I only gained 50 pounds through my pregnancy but I've gained 20 pounds in these last 9 months due to just not paying attention, exhaustion, and just not being ready. But now I am ready. I want to lose the 70 pounds I have gained and maybe more but ... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 12:42:41 EST Brand new mama http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x51355806 Hello ladies! I have a 2 month old baby girl and she is so darling. However while pregnant I gained 46 lbs. I am a smaller frame gal and was in great shape before pregnancy. So far I only lost 20 lbs and now stuck. I've heard so many times that the weight just melts off of ya when you breastfeed... well hmmm not true for me :) I do hope that it will change within time, but cannot solely rely on BFing alone. So, with 25 lbs to go towards my goal here I am :)
Katerina. Fri, 28 Dec 2012 10:21:35 EST I think we're done http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x51253838 We made it 34 months and we were down to just naptime and bedtime. He had gone several days last summer without nursing but would always come back to it. The quitting and restarting was kind of creating havoc with my hormones. When he didn't nurse for 10 days during our vacation last month I decided it might be time to quit. He asked a couple times after we were home and back to our usual routine, but I told him milky was all gone. He was a little sad but seemed to get over it pretty qu... Tue, 18 Dec 2012 12:37:50 EST New here! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x51140518 Hello! I am new to this team. I am breastfeeding my 11 month old and plan to for a while still. I want to do child-led weaning. He is still nursing up to 6 times in 24 hour period (yes, he still wakes up 1-3 times at night). I think part of the reason (whether large or small) for my inability to lose weight is because he is nursing during the night still. But, I have not made a great effort towards eating right. So, today starts a new day! Look forward to getting to know a few of you. :) Sun, 9 Dec 2012 00:43:58 EST Hi! I'm new http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x51026714 Hello,
I'm Stacy. I had my 2nd baby October 12. I started back up at the gym this week and am looking forward to getting fit again. Fri, 30 Nov 2012 09:49:10 EST i need help http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x50922743 I am still breastfeeding my almost 9 month old. I've only lost 9 pounds since the beginning of May. Nothing has changed. I've gained 5 pounds in the last 5 weeks (this brings me to the 9 pounds lost, so technically I HAD lost 14). Nothing has changed. Why am I not losing weight?

I eat in my calorie range (about 1800). I do not eat any grains. I have not been successful at exercising but trying to get back into it! Since losing the initial weight right after baby, I've just stopped. I can't seem to lose any more. If I work out too much or restrict calories, my supply suffers and if I just add 500 calories to my daily total, I don't lose at all.

I've breast fed for 6 months so far and he's my 3rd child and the first I've successfully breastfed. I have never been so proud of myself for anything else in my life.
My... Tue, 9 Oct 2012 13:53:18 EST Hello Everyone, I'm new to the team! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x50210384 Hi guys... I just gave birth on 9/11/12 (believe it or not, at 9:11am) and I am ready to get back to more healthy routines. I gained 40lbs with this pregnancy and was not going to weigh myself until I weaned off of breastfeeding (actually I am exclusively pumping--but basically the same thing when it comes to my health choices); but I caved and weighed myself yesterday... and I was very sad... I weight 164 lbs and my pre-preg weight was 135lbs soooo I have quite a ways to go. I am looking ... Tue, 2 Oct 2012 15:12:03 EST Jumping the gun http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x50197724 Hello Ladies.

Sorry, I am still pregnant but due on October 13, which means that I have less than 12 days to go before my baby boy arrives. I want to get back into Sparks and back to my body- and better- before returning from maternity leave next year. My goal is to reach 145 lbs, which is a comfortable weight for me usually. In the last year I have gained a bit too much due to miscarriages and pregnancy, but now I want to get back to myself again and feel sexy again. I am tir... Mon, 1 Oct 2012 20:58:05 EST New to SP http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x50125832 Hey gals, I have recently joined sparkpeople after being a weight watchers disciple for many years. I got way to comfortable and didn't hold myself accountable to the program, so it was no longer a good fit for me. Anyways, I have a 9 month old little girl and she is awesome, but I've got to lose at least 40 lbs to be back in a decent shape. I gained 20 lbs when I quit birth control (I was already overweight before then),, and gained 30 lbs while pregnant. I've lost the pregnancy weight, but ... I have a 5 month old son. He's my first. I'm a proud breastfeeding momma. Never knew I would be so bold in my breastfeeding but then again, I've done lots of things I've never expected to since having my little boy. I really would do anything for him. I love being a mom! I am also a wife of 6 years and we have a 4 year old and a 5 year old dog. I had gotten down from 195 to 168 about a week and a half ago...but over the last week for some reason...I have gained back 5 pounds!!! I'm SO frustrated and dumbfounded by it! I've been jog/walking to get back into running shape and even incorporated 2 days of circuit training last week and have been watching my calories.....and GAINED 5 POUNDS!!! Mon, 24 Sep 2012 07:57:04 EST Adapting the Tracker http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x49990314 So - how do you all handle the extra calories for breastfeeding? I've been adding 300-500 calories per day (which has been bringing me 200-300 calories per day under what the babyfit tracker was telling me) - but is there a better way to do it?

Thanks! Tue, 18 Sep 2012 09:55:40 EST Greetings! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x49990236 I am new-again to sparkpeople, coming over here from the Babyfit boards. I have a three year old and a six month old - I pump for the baby at work and nurse him on demand otherwise.

My goal is to lose 35 lbs by June 2013.

Glad to find this board! My youngest son and I just celebrated our birthdays last week: his first, and my thirty-ninth. We're still breastfeeding and based on my previous experience, I expect to continue for the next 6-18 months.

I've done SparkPeople before, and I've done XBF before. Just never at the same time. My experience has been that after the initial postpartum drop, I plateau and do not lose any further weight until the child has weaned. I am sure that a b... Mon, 27 Aug 2012 12:33:50 EST Extended nursing and Calories http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x49632952 My Baby is 20months and we are still going strong. My goal is another 4 months but I am also at a stage where I am re-evaluating my caloric in take.

While not close to actual weaning we are down to 2-3 nursing sessions a day. Using the add 500 calories just seams a bit high. But how do I find out the right amount? I would love to hear what others do. Sun, 26 Aug 2012 12:29:12 EST Hi Everyone!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x49577598 Hello, everyone! My name is Gabrielle and I had my new baby girl, named Ada, on June 5, 2012. This is my second child. My first is Caecilia, and she will turn 3 in October. Both of them were born at 34 weeks, so I am familiar with taking care of a 6 week early preemie.

After my first, I never lost any weight (and embarrassingly even gained weight) due to a number of factors. I did not gain a whole lot during my second pregnancy, and am already below my prepregnancy weight, but... Wed, 22 Aug 2012 14:59:14 EST Hello everyone! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x1181x49559255 I'm a new mom to a beautiful 9 week old baby girl looking to get back into shape and lose about 15-20 pounds. She was born 6 weeks early so I spent half of my maternity leave at the hospital. I work full time and pump at work.

I'm looking forward to reading everyone's story and advice! Tue, 21 Aug 2012 11:55:29 EST Strappin the ladies down! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x49547229 I'm 5 weeks post partum and I would like to start the couch to five k plan again. My ladies swelled from DD's to DDD's. I don't fit any of my nice Moving Comfort super awesome sports bras. I have some of the basic ones from walmart and plan on doubling them up. Although, I'm pretty sure they will not suffice for running and the ladies get tender :( How are you hoisting the girls up when you do higher impact activities? But I feel like some people out there are getting crazy advice from lactation consultants. I know of two moms who were told to supplement every feeding with formula (for newborns) and to keep up by pumping every three hours. There's NO WAY I would have been able to keep such a crazy schedule and I would have definitely made... Wed, 15 Aug 2012 09:46:06 EST Breastfeeding Milestone!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x49465454 As of the 11th, DS has been breastfeeding for 18 months - the first nine weeks of which were exclusive pumping for a preemie! This is exciting for me because my first two only nursed for 9 months TOTAL (between the two of them). And we see no end in sight, though cutting back a bit on how frequent would be REALLY nice. Especially at night. lol Wed, 15 Aug 2012 02:18:35 EST I got bit... http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x49457070 So my LO just got her first two teeth in. She's bit me a couple times now. At this point her teeth are barely out, so it really doesn't hurt that much, but I'd like to stop her now so I can keep BFing.

Does anyone have any tips? Most of my family and friends just stopped after the first bite. I was 210lbs at the end of my pregnancy. I've managed to lose 30lbs by breastfeeding alone. My current weight is 182 as of my last doctors appointment on Monday. I want to drop another 52 lbs by 3/19/2013 which is my wedding anniversary. I am not sure why I picked that date besides the fact that it's a special day between my husband and I. I've got about 30 I'd like to lose. I'm waiting for my post-partum check up with my OB to start slowly working out. Our gym starts accepting infants at 3 months so I'll work that into my schedule then. I also have a 7 yo DD and 6 yo DS. I just had baby number 4 a month ago! While I was pregnant I managed to lose about 25 pounds of my own weight, but I need to lose about 50 more. I tried spark people a few years ago and didn't get very far, but since I already have a head start on my weight loss I thought I'd try it again! I'm hoping for more success this time and with a little support I'm sure I can reach my goal! Thanks for letting me join your group! I had a traditional birth without meds. He is my first child with my awesome hubby! I'm way excited to be here. Pre pregnancy I was 244 and i only gained 12lbs. Currently I'm 235 :). My goal is 170.

Did you modify the calorie plan to account for bf? I don't want to shortchange my calories and not have enough to feed him or compromise my milk supply. Thanks for any advice! Last week I weighed in as 3lbs down. My non-official weigh in this morning (I weigh in on Thursdays) showed that I've already lost 2 more so quite possibly another 3lbs this week.

My thoughts:
1) I already had an abundant supply to begin with so maybe it's okay to lose the weight a bit faster?

2) I'll probably plateau in a couple of weeks for a while so it woul... My body is just so different after having my girls. I know it has only been 10 weeks, but my body bounced right back into shape after having my first daughter. It has been 6 years so I'm older and I had twins so I was much bigger and I wasn't allowed to exercise during my pregnancy, but still, its frustrating. Its not so much the weight, I've been this weight before, but its all proportioned differently. I just have this big tire around my middle. <B... It feels like its a shameful thing to do it, people stare at you like you are doing something wrong. But on the other hand all the doctors say it is best to do for your baby and we should be doing it till they are a year old. I do cover up when I do breast feed but I don't know how many times I have went to the bathroom or car to BF because I was embarrassed. Does anyone else fe... I'm starting a workout regimen next week, but I wanted to make sure I had some support in the breastfeeding community, since I'm still solely breastfeeding my daughter. I know I have to be on the slow-and-steady track to keep my milk supply fully and healthy, so I know I'll need some extra encouragement along the way when the results take longer. And if so, how do you determine how many calories you're burning? But just wondering if anyone did it the other way around. I have a 3 week old and am trying to figure out when it would be safe to start "dieting". I see everyone saying the calorie range should be between 1500-1800. Spark people has no option at setup to include breastfeeding (years ago I did weight watchers and they did)...so first I was wondering if I missed something somewhere??

If you track calories, I will always be over on SP unless I never stray from 1500...is there a way to ad... My baby likes to roll of and crawl around right away after she is done. Bec I am large breasted I find it really hard to concele myself and adjust. There are times I can't put the baby down and I need both hand to do the nursing clip up on my bra. Any insight greatly appreciated. Bloated, crampy, nauseous (sp?), tired (even with 8 hours of sleep), and lots of clear, mucusy discharge (sorry for the TMI!). My husband and I have not been uber careful when it comes to preventing pregnancy right now (mainly we're just excited that we're doing it at all! ha!). I used spark to lose 15 pounds before conceiving, but now I feel like I don't know much about how my diet effects breastfeeding...let alone how to lose weight while breastfeeding. Mon, 23 Apr 2012 12:03:15 EST Arching while Feeding http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x47674829 My daughter is 2 months old and has started arching her back and pulling my nipple with her while she eats. She will also claw at the sides of my boob and shirt to pull herself closer. She cries when she pulls off while arching but it doesn't seem like she is hurting. Her doctor thinks it is reflux and gave her medicine, but she is still doing it. Is she just not getting enough from me? Or is she getting used to being bottlefed while I work? Has any other working mom gone through this? I'm currently nursing my 3rd baby boy, he is 7 weeks old. Having issues with what I am eating- dairy is out for sure... still eliminating other foods. Also, trying to find some birth control that works for us- ack. :) I nursed my other children as well. I lost 23 pounds here before I got pregnant. Unfortunately, I am not one of those women for whom weight just falls off while nursing. I have to work for it which is a challenge since nursing makes me ravenous.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. Tue, 17 Apr 2012 20:39:35 EST Anybody tried the Baby Whisperer method? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x47606688 I'd like to get my baby to sleep through the night without letting him cry. He's 6 months, wakes up every 3 to 4 hours to nurse. I've been reading the Baby Whisperer which was recommended to me. I like it in theory, but I know practice is always more complicated. Anyone has had any success with it when implementing it after 4 months? (I just don't do schedules with the baby before that, it's too difficult with the rest of the kids in tow). I don't want to use a bra with a wire bc its not suppose to be good while breastfeeding. My DD is almost 5 months old, I've been stalled out as far as weight loss goes for weeks, and realized after visiting babyfit, that I wasn't eating anywhere near enough calories. I've also recently found myself a SAHM, and am struggling with not only increasing calories for nursing, but finding time to exercise, and feeling quite lonely. My little sweetie pie is 5 weeks old today, I just started working out yesterday and am still trying to figure out the whole breastfeeding thing. Baby boy was 10.1 lbs. and 22 in. when he was born and continues to grow at an exponential rate- is now 13 lbs. and 25+ inches. Needless to say, he needs to eat more than I can feed him with nursing, so we have been trying to find the balance between nursing, formula and getting my supply up. I realize it's going to be harder with this baby than I was with my 1st - back in m 20's I didn't have to do anything and I'd loose weight. In fact, I breastfed my two sons when the second was born then my daugther was breasfed with her brother for a few months also.

Anyway, since my last baby is 10 months old, I wanted to start loosing all this pregnancy/breastfeeding weight I gained over the years. Well, I'm not sure if it's not pounds I kept for breastfeeding because I always keep 2-3 kilos from my pregnancies. Well I also move ... My name is Nicole and my beautiful little Mila will be 2 months old tomorrow. I gained 40 lbs while pregnant, 25 lbs came right off in the first 2 weeks, but I've been stuck there since. I joined Spark for motivation and to keep track of my fitness. I exclusively breastfeed so I'm not watching calories at all, just trying to make healthy choices when I reach for food. I am wondering something... my little guy is 6 months old and I have him in a pretty good habit of nursing to sleep. I am wondering if anyone else in the group does this? It doesn't bother me and yes, he does still wake in the night to nurse (normally just once) but I am not sure if it is out of need or want. I was wanting to pick everyone's brains about thoughts on this. Is this a not such a good habit to have him in? Should I be working with him to fall asleep on his own? Am ... He wants to nurse whenever the thought crosses his mind. Like when I walk in the room lol. I stay at home with him so it's usually not a problem. But when we have visitors over, he will whine, grunt, put his hands down my shirt, open my shirt & look in, ect! I'll try to distract him with a cup of milk or juice and he will throw it. I'll tell him to wait until nap time. Just wondering how to teach him some manners. T... I'm a mom of two and currently nursing. And I make excuses for the food I put in my mouth. I can't count the times I've actually said out-loud, "well, I'm a nursing mom, I have to eat!" I try to justify my unhealthy eating by saying I'm nursing and need the calories. Or some other version that excuse. So I decided that I would lower my calorie range, since my nursling is almost 2, and not nursing that often, to a range of 1600-1900. I averaged about 1750 on that plan. I did that for the last 2 weeks and have not lost anything, and in fact have gained a little (which could be water weight, I guess.) So, should I lower my range some more, or should I raise it back... I want to go back to breastfeeding http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x40556762 Hi all!

I have a 1 month old baby. She is a horrible breastfeeder (doesn't open wide, gets really impatient and only latched correctly once in 3 weeks) For the last week and half or so I switched to pumping exclusively because my nipples were so torn up and I couldn't take it anymore. I am almost completely healed and would like to return to breastfeeding. I am worried that it will be hard for us to switch back since she couldn't latch before and wouldn't open wide before and now... I can't say why exactly, I'm just feeling like it's time. He seems like he could be ready too. I wouldn't do it if he *truly* didn't seem ready. Of course, I want to do it very gently and gradually. I force weaned my older child before he was ready and I still regret it. Anyway, question for those who have done a child-led, but sort of parent-encouraged - I like the term "natura... Sun, 13 Mar 2011 20:52:44 EST Anyone else gain weight when weaning? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x1181x40471037 By the time I returned from maternity leave (at 8 weeks), I was 5 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight. But when I stopped pumping (at 24 months), I 5 pounds and have slowly gained 5 more pounds since then as my daughter, now 36 months slowly cuts back. With the help of SP, I managed to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight again by last December, but I noticed in the past couple weeks since she stopped nursing before bedtime I've gained it all back. He was a pretty active night nurser, and I've had to pump 1 or 2 times a night to get through it while my supply adjusts.

Just thinking I should back off my calories a bit, wondering if there are other changes I might expec... I'm nursing my 5.5 month old and had an unexpected csection (he presented breech when I finally went into labor at 41 weeks). Between feeling hungry 24/7 with nursing, being trapped in the house with extreme winter weather, and trying to figure out what I can handle after the csection my weightloss has been very slow. I finally have hit my limit and want to be more proactive about getting into shape. I added on 300 cal to the spark totals, but find that I tend to eat right around 1500 calories regardless. 1500 is the to top end of my non breastfeeding range. Since she eats other foods and other than lots of teething I haven't noticed a change in her nursing, do you think I need to add 300-500?
