I lost 60 lbs in 2010-2011, and maintained that loss fairly well for the first 3 years. At 5'7", and 128-133, I am technically at my "ideal" weight. And I am happy to have come this far. I seriously am. However, my body seems to have a twisted sense of humor(must have gotten it from me, ha!). Thu, 12 Sep 2013 19:50:29 EST How is your weight loss going? Just checking. It is not unusual to experience occasional plateaus. I tend to define a plateau as lasting 6 weeks or longer. It is also not unusual to just experience what I call "stalls", that are shorter in duration. Stalls just seemed to be a regular part of my weight loss cycle. I just tried to look at them as "the time before my next weight loss".

~ Faith Fri, 5 Jul 2013 11:44:11 EST Hi- is anyone still out here? And I've upped my cardio... so as to burn 600 calories a day. Today I have done almost 95 minutes of cardio plus almost another hour of strength training.
I HOPE THIS works!!! Wed, 11 Feb 2009 18:25:53 EST Has anyone tried a cleanse? I seemed to have hit a wall in my weight loss. The scale has literally been STUCK! So I'm thinking about trying a complete body cleanse. It's an 'all natural' cleanse from Whole Foods. Basically a fiber, psyllium and milk thistle combo for 2 weeks. What do you think? Has anyone tried this? Results? Thoughts? Tue, 3 Feb 2009 00:44:06 EST How is this possible? Hi, I am new and in need of help. I have been plateaued for 6 months. 6 LOUSY MONTHS!
I have tried cal cycling, alt day diet, stopped eating, stopped exercising (for a short time), more calories, more proteins, less carbs, more fiber, even pills.
I don't know what to do so I thought I would stop by and look for some helpful hints. Thu, 29 Jan 2009 01:14:27 EST Completely STALLED! I have been at a stand still for about NINE MONTHS! I've changed it up, charged it up, removed calories, added calories, tried new routines (cardio & strength training); REALLY PUSHED myself. Now I'm trying fewer carbs, and doing the P90X program. I'm a week and a half into it, and STILL NOTHING!
WHAT to do next... I have no idea. Tue, 13 Jan 2009 20:50:43 EST new to team I am looking for a jump start, I have been working out 5-6 days a week for 11 months, I lost 71 pounds in 08 but the scale has not moved in two months. Any ideas? Mon, 12 Jan 2009 09:24:56 EST My battle plan for decimating the plateau! Okay, starting this New Year, I am doing everything I know of to break through my plateau and get under 130. Let me know if there's anything else I should do.

1) Lower average daily calories to 1500 (~700 deficit)
2) Eat different amounts different days (calorie cycling) to keep my metabolism guessing.
3) Mix up workout. I've been emphasizing strength training for a long time now. I'm going to do more aerobics, mix up the type of aerobics I do, and do at least 3 high i... Thu, 25 Dec 2008 05:39:15 EST new & stuck & needing help! Looking back over my weight log I noticed that I am the same weight I was 3 months ago. I'm a couple pounds more than 4 months ago. and over these past few months have fluctuated but still haven't lost overall.

I'm getting frustrated and I know that won't help things.

I was definitely not exercising like I should have been the past couple months but the last 2 weeks I have been totally back on track - going for runs, to the gym, doing weights, doing workout shows, and ... Thu, 27 Nov 2008 13:04:23 EST Well... It's not going away... I've got 7 more pounds until I reach my goal weight. I've only lost 2 lbs in the last 9 months!
I'm training like a bloody athlete... so, today I made the decision to slack off. I will keep doing my workouts (because I enjoy them) but I am allowing myself more calories everyday. Up to around 1800 (I think)
I just can't keep working out like this and NOT EAT!!! 192 190 Thu, 13 Nov 2008 21:28:21 EST The last ten! Been stuck with ten lbs to go for months, now... I can't work out any more than I already do. So, I thought rather than doing a different aerobics video every day, I would try elliptical trainer. I tried it today... whew!
I'm still doing my strength traing too, every other day (abs, everyday)
Although, I'm not really unhappy with my progress, this has become a battle of the wills... me against the final bulge. I'm determined to win. Dammit!
OK. All for now,
23 Wed, 22 Oct 2008 13:01:10 EST HOWDY ALL! Hey, everyone. I thought I would join your team & see if I can work with other people that might be having the same stalemate problem I am.

I managed to drop my first 40 lbs, but the last 20 are going NOWHERE! I have changed up my routine, added strength training, done everything I can to switch it up & have been stuck for about 9 months now.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is my ideal weight & I should be happy with it?? Wed, 27 Aug 2008 11:43:37 EST New and Frustrated Hi all!!!
I just found this team. I am hoping that by being here I can get some help. I have been a Sparks member since the end of Dec. I have lost a total of 47 pounds (or 44 pounds). My weight is floating up and down by 3 pounds and I can't seem to break out of the 150's!!!!

Any and all suggestions would greatly be appreciated!!

Kristie 303 Sun, 17 Aug 2008 13:01:56 EST Teetering on the edge of a Plateau (AGAIN!) Hi all. I have been successful in altering my food choices and seem to have made the lifestyle change, adding exercise and water. I am over 55 and it has gotten harder and harder over the years to take the weight off. I am not giving up, but this time things have really slowed down. I have tried all the "tricks", adding calories, subtracting calories, alternating 20 minute workouts 6 nights a week, religiously drinking water and yet have been stuck at one weight for the last 5 weeks. I h... Mon, 21 Jul 2008 09:20:23 EST Two Great Ebooks to check out Leigh Peele has written 2 books about this very subject, but titled them in very different ways... the first is "Fat Loss Trouble Shoot", this book talks about what it is we are doing wrong in the world of weight loss and exercise. Aside from setting our calories way to low for our activity level, we tend to over do it with exercise or underestimate the amount of food we are really eating. There is a quiz (if I find time, I'll type it out and post it to my blog) to find your actual activity... Tue, 1 Jul 2008 08:49:59 EST Hi there!! Hi All!! I am new to this team today, I found in it my search to find something to bring my motivation back to me!! I totally feel that this is the biggest plateau buster of all time... ready?

Weigh your food...

Ok, so you are thinking, why is this going to work when everything else I have done isn't changing a thing. I bet that you are all in the same trap that I have been in for over a year, eating little, exercising a lot and NOT losing. Your doing that, what gives? And, why me? I also bet that you have searched the pages of spark to get calorie ranges on people to see what th... Wed, 11 Jun 2008 13:45:01 EST New Plateau Member Hi all! I just joined SP and I have begun to read through some of the team pages and message boards. Looks like I'm in good company in that I too am struggling with breaking through my plateau. In May 2007 I was 305 and today (6-2-08) I am 177. I have been hovering around the 177 to 179 mark for about a month now. It is very frustrating when you become used to X number of lbs. being shed per month and and then it starts to dwindle or come to a virtual screeching halt. Well, gotta go to ... Mon, 2 Jun 2008 17:22:18 EST Been reading but not writing OK ,so I've actually lost 86 lbs. 239 to 153 and find my weight has slowed down. I have changed from working 4 - 10-12 hr week days to 10-9 hr nights. My sleep has been disturbed and I am confused about when I should eat and when I shouldn't. I don't want to do anything to start back to my old ways , darn I will not, but help me . Any advise to keep things moving?. I usually do 3 meals a day , and exercised 4-6 times a week. Please , ideas to get me off this plateau and jump started again? Fri, 18 Apr 2008 18:42:15 EST Using Spark Teams for the First Time Hi! I've just started using SP again and this is the first time I've tried the spark teams. I am getting desperate so I thought I'd try to find out I wasn't the only one! I've lost about 55lbs so far and have 20 more to go. The problem is, I can't get out of the seventies!!!!! I've been at 173 for a month now and don't know what to do. I bought a HRM and am traking calories, about 2500-3500/week. Cardio 5-6 days, strength 4 days. I've been doing this regimen only about 2 weeks, so maybe I'... Wed, 5 Mar 2008 09:37:39 EST Hello, Ladies! (and gents...) Hi. Just wanted to introduce myself. Since joining sparkpeople I've lost about 5 lbs, but I had already lost some weight, previously. I started out at 202 lbs. The absolute heaviest I've ever been!
I had a bad time last year. I won't go into it, but I was stuck living in a SMALL motel room for about 3 months, and I gained about 50 lbs! No kidding.
Anyhow, I've never been a skinny minny, but breaking 200 lbs almost gave me a nervous breakdown!
I've always worked out a lot, and s... Sat, 26 Jan 2008 02:49:34 EST Let's Get Back Into It!!!!! Hi Plateau Busters! My name is Elaine, I started this team quite a while ago, got discouraged and fell off the wagon. I've gained 7-8 pounds and have decided to jump back into Spark People with both feet and get that scale to start going down instead of up.

Any words of encouragement to get me really psyched up will help, the clothes are getting snugger and my scale is protesting. 193 246 Sat, 19 Jan 2008 12:22:05 EST Finally! I got on the scale last Friday and weighed in at 139.5. I thought it was a figment of my imagination after having been stuck at 142 for weeks. However, I got on again this morning after breakfast and weighed up a little....but still breaking through that plateau. One very happy girl on this side of the computer. Now just 20 more lbs. to go. Woo hoo! 9 Fri, 16 Nov 2007 13:00:47 EST How to break through the wall??? I am surprised this group isn't filled with people! I have been working to get past the 140 barrier for what seems like months now...i think it has been about 1 month. I just started really working out, and I am hoping that push will help. I also have cut out all drinks except for my coffee in the morning. Then I only drink water...but i don't think I drank that many other drinks before anyway...any tips or ideas on how to get past this hurdle?
