I hope that I'll be able to get motivated from others in the group that are successful. Thanks in advance for throwing me a line! 249<... Wed, 21 Dec 2016 14:54:18 EST Hello everyone! Obese, Ready to change for good. Classic yo yo dieter. I have been successful with WW. I need support from other birds of my feather. :) Happy to be here. Wed, 21 Dec 2016 12:48:17 EST Hello All! My name is Greta and I am endeavoring to lose 50 pounds over the next year. I'm planning to go slowly because it's going to require a lifestyle change because my current habits are awful and are what got me here in the first place. I am committed to getting started and am open to all helpful advice. Sun, 18 Dec 2016 14:50:33 EST I'M BACK I'm not sure how long I have been a SparkPeople member but I have never stuck to any of my goals ... I have had recurrent pneumonia, which saps strength and willpower ... ongoing fatigue ... all are my excuses as I have managed to get my weight up to 200 pounds (I think I was about 170 when I joined the first time). Will I do it this time?

I have pneumonia AGAIN (yes, I did get the vaccination) yet know I can set some healthy habits in place all the same. Where should I start? ... Sun, 18 Dec 2016 10:22:34 EST Just saying "Hello" I've been browsing around and orientating myself to SP since joining Monday and this is my first post. Well, I did just post on the team's primary forum before seeing this forum so I guess it would be considered my second posting. I'm finding SP to be very helpful with tracking my nutrition intake and with establishing a regular exercise routine. I think it will work out very well for me and my very busy schedule. Well, I'll be "stopping by" and posting my progress and seeing how y'all are do... Wed, 14 Dec 2016 20:56:27 EST Hey Everyone I am Regina. Usually not good at being consistent with posting on sites, but I am trying to relate being consistent here with being consistent with my weight loss plan and hold myself accountable.

So I will be seeing you guys :-) Wed, 14 Dec 2016 19:34:38 EST Newbie Hi. I'm Maryann and new to this group, but not to SP. I wish I could say I was good at following SP or at getting healthier, but I have the whole "starting and stopping" thing going on. I've no idea why I stop posting, but I seem to forget and then it's been a month. I've been chunky forever, and really fat since about 1998. I've always thought I *want* to lose weight and will try, but then I must not *really* want to lose it because I don't. I bounce the same ten pounds no matter what I seem... Tue, 13 Dec 2016 13:35:48 EST Day 1 (again) Hi there, I am back. Been a few years since I did Spark. But I feel I need the support again. I am recovering from knee surgery and do to go back to work on December 19th. I am not an exerciser, never have been but need to change that. Time is tight as I work very hard and my job is stressful. Gyms scare me as I am close to 300 lbs and very self-conscious. Both knees are bad and I have asthma. I just need to burn calories. Is dancing around at home like a nut exercise? How about laps around ... Mon, 12 Dec 2016 18:39:41 EST Hi There! I am 55 years old and want to lose weight. Does anyone have suggestions for 're-boot' week?

There will be a beach with lots of sun, a pool, but no bike or walking trails. Any ideas of how to plan for such a week would be greatly appreciated. For example, should we each make goals for the week? We are 4 adults, 2 in great shape, 2 not so much... Mon, 5 Dec 2016 20:56:20 EST Hello - Not-so-new Member Hello all!

I am a new member to this team but not new to SparkPeople. I joined SP years ago and it was great for me. Then I left SP for a variety of reasons, and over the past 6 years have gained over 100 pounds and lost all fitness (I was a marathoner six years ago - yikes!)

I am fearful about rejoining SP because it was so good last time and I might be expecting too much from it this time. It's one of the things I miss about the USA. It's just the way everyone comes out of the woodwork, even if they haven't seen each other in ages, and sits down together to be thankful about life, and then argue their way through a massive table of food.

It's fabulous and I miss it.

Anyhoo, how did people go? I have Fibromyalgia, degenerative arthritis in spine and hips and knees are so bad. I haven't run in about 2 weeks for various nonsense reasons but I'm starting again this week. My life is full of obstacles to doing the right thing because...well because I let myself think they are real obstacles. Just trying to get to my goal. Will you help me? My goals are high so I will just take a day at a time. Hope we can inspire each other. My biggest challenge is exercise. I have found some limited mobility chair exercises that I can do,but not on this site I can't get the exercises on this site to play. Maybe I should find a DVD? Good luck to everyone it's always fun to be on a winning team - although winning here means losing. Fri, 16 Sep 2016 01:09:33 EST Problem Gramma Hi - I've been a member of SparkPeople for a number of years but it has intimidated me and I simply ignored it for years. I was 276 and went down to 249 - that was last summer - slowly I've gone back up to 286 and I seem to have stuck. I just turned 70 and want to get down 99 pounds by next spring. I have a serious problem exercising because I have a bad knee and my legs swell up to twice their size.
I have one child, a daughter who is 46 and she is married with one child, a daughte... Wed, 14 Sep 2016 19:31:06 EST Just a little frustrated... So I've been a part of SparkPeople for almost 10 years. I have lost only about 15 lbs in all of that time. I brought my A1c down from 12 to 6 at one time. This past 6 months it's gone from 6.5 which is the norm I've maintained all this time to 6.8 to 7 and now to 7.5. I will admit that I didn't count every calorie, every carb, or even paid much attention to what I was eating most of the time. I started a full time job, I work from 7am to 3:30 pm, I have an hour drive each day. I can hardly st... Tue, 13 Sep 2016 21:39:24 EST I ate a whole box of cereal in one evening This is why I can't blame my weight on anything but me eating too much. I go along and eat clean for seven days, determined and clear headed as to why I am overweight. (I wrote another thread titled I Am Fat Because I Eat Too Much or something like that. I join this site, I create a food log, I think of tools to get me through "hungry" spells, like water, veggies, fruit. All the stuff we know to do. And then I choose to buy a box of cereal and eat that for dinner. I chose a cereal that seeme... Mon, 12 Sep 2016 10:50:58 EST A start for new healthy life Hi folks! I'm Sue, and I'm trying to aim myself into a healthier lifestyle. I've been on the site for a few days. Shopped for some foods that seemed like more balanced eating than what I'd done previously. Started exercising - a very small start but a start anyway. Glad to be here! Fri, 9 Sep 2016 14:35:58 EST trying again to get healthy! Hi there! I am 55 and trying to lose 50 lbs. I'm concentrating on slowly moving my eating in the right direction. This is my second week at SP and I've got two healthy meals I've set up for breakfast and lunch every day. They're easy to prepare and I like eating them. We didn't get meals as children and I've never learned to eat regular meals, so this is a big step in the right direction.

But I find that I am not jumping on other stuff. Wed, 11 May 2016 07:53:34 EST My Last Ditch Effort I am not good at follow thru but a year ago in Jan. I gave up processed sugar. It was like I had been challenged. One of my clients who is a meth addict told me that I did not understand addiction. I thought how wrong he was as I have struggled with food addictions for most of my life. I used food to feel better, to get high, to calm and comfort myself. I would sneek food, hide with food, hide evidence of food I had eaten. I had an addiction and I knew it but was like everyone of many ... Tue, 10 May 2016 22:53:18 EST Hello! Hi, I'm Elaine, I live in Denver. Yesterday I re-started using SparkPeople to log my food. Sun, 8 May 2016 07:21:18 EST Help Hello everyone, I'm 56 and need to lose 3 stone. With the last two weeks I've been walking on my treadmill. I start off at 3.8 and build up to 4.5 which is a very fast walk for me. I have been told that it is not enough. I was a motivation to many people and to be honest I was truly humbled. I don’t think of myself as a "motivation" and what I did felt like it wasn’t that difficult. I didn’t overthink it (which I tend to do) I just did it, one step at a time, one meal at a time, one day at a time.

I had been on Spark 2 other times in the past before this journey (I guess threes th... Slowly after that the weight began to just creep up ever so slowly and I am almost back to the weight I was 15 years ago. Now this time, I am older, really feel the weight hindering me and mentally, well....menta... I have rejoined Sparkpeople under a new name to begin anew.

I am a wife and mother to two children in their early 20's. My family has been supportive of my health challenges, but has less patience for diet restrictions that may impact them. Nevertheless, I am ready to make this work.

With several health challenges, I know this program is my best chance of success. I look forward to sharing my journey with you. Mon, 14 Mar 2016 14:40:19 EST Rosemary Conley's book "The FAB Diet" I've just started reading this - it's basically a calorie controlled diet with exercise and the book has recipes with colour photos. I started a spark team for anyone who would like to join me in doing this plan. I'm starting on Friday to give me time to read more of the book and get some groceries in.

idual.asp?gid=66627
Mon, 14 Mar 2016 12:15:11 EST Getting Back to Living Life After a major surgery a few years ago, my doctor gave me that advice, Get Back to Living Your Life. I had been sick for a while, and had really forgotten how to do that. It's taken me a few years, but I'm ready to do just that. Well, I've gained quite a few pounds since that surgery, so part of moving forward is to shed those pounds. The easier part for me is getting back to exercising. I love being outdoors and started a daily ritual of getting up early and walking/hiking a couple of hours i... Sun, 13 Mar 2016 22:09:20 EST turning 58, ready to make a change Glad to join this team, I need to get moving and make some changes, preferably while I am still in my 50's ! Sun, 13 Mar 2016 03:06:30 EST Hey from way down South Hi! You know when you reach that point where you gotta do something. This is it. I moved to Florida last October and have just really settled in. The thing about Florida, is that it's nice, as in nice ALL....THE....TIME!

It's the kind of place where there is always something going on outdoors. Back in Oregon, it was cold, damp and rainy for at least nine months of the year, so you really didn't sweat it that much. You got out and about the few months it was nice and then back to yo... Sat, 12 Mar 2016 15:08:43 EST Hi Hi, from Rhode Island. I am on the 9th day of my 21 day challenge and am learning so much about this site and have even made a few "friends". I have at least 50 pounds to lose and I know it will be a long journey for me. I joined a gym in January and although not "loving it" I do find I look forward to going. Once I am there I'm OK and I must say I do feel stronger and better. I hope you all are going to have a wonderful weekend. Sat, 12 Mar 2016 08:28:40 EST Hi! I'm from Cleveland, TN Dancing 15 minutes a day? Wow, that sounds like fun and will motivate me. Any pointers? Music recommendations? Thu, 10 Mar 2016 15:54:11 EST Starting over It makes me feel better that I'm not alone. I've seen other posts in here of starting over. The past year and a half has just really been hard. Every time I try and get a breakthrough, I get sideswiped. My problem is I always wait till things get better before I do something. I don't have that luxury anymore. My body is in the balance and I just really have to start saying that no matter what happens, I've got to take care of my health every day. No matter what. That's new for me. But I'm gon... Thu, 10 Mar 2016 13:26:39 EST Back Again Hi, I am hoping this is the last new username....A few years ago I lost 45 pounds with Sparkpeople. Started, stopped multiple times after I gained weight back. I now need to lose 53 pounds and today is day one! The last few times I tried I did not join any SparkTeams-I am hoping that by being more social on Spark, it will help me to stay focused and accountable. Tue, 8 Mar 2016 13:46:44 EST I've done it before ....and I'll do it again. Hi team,

been meaning to come back here for a couple of years....or more 211

looking forward to making friends here 521 306 381 244 Mon, 7 Mar 2016 18:19:52 EST BACK FOR A FRESH START Hello team. It is I - Erin - I have no idea how long it has been since I was on this team. Most likely never. I think it took me a long time to get below 100 pounds needing to be lost. But Spark recommended this team for me and I like what I see. I can't get here every day, but will do the best I can.

My name is Erin. I am legally married, have one daughter - living out of the area and am still working at 68 years old - at whatever someone wants to pay me to do. LOL I hope... Mon, 7 Mar 2016 13:23:13 EST New member Good Evening Everyone! I am a new member, I just signed up this evening. I am looking forward to the program and meeting all of you! Sun, 6 Mar 2016 23:22:29 EST New day fresh start Hello:

I'm Cathy, this is my first day back at Spark I was here years ago. I need to track my food and get this weight off. I have been on a zillion diets but hoping just by eating less and moving more I can shed this weight.
Sun, 6 Mar 2016 15:44:22 EST $1 a pound to the charity of your choice Since I find the spark community supportive and the food tracker easy to use, I have decided not to return to the weekly meetings of another weight reduction group. These meeting had a weekly fee (which were a bit rich for my blood) That said, I have decided to donate a $1 to a charity of my choice for every pound I loose. It does not sound like much, but like my weight loss slow and sure wins the race. Thanks to a 3 lbs loss, I just made my first donation. Here is to success and helping ... Sun, 6 Mar 2016 14:32:11 EST Back to beginning more or less Hello - I've been absent a few years due to an interesting medical mess, and all that goes with it. Since I no longer go to Physical Therapy - I'm using PT exercises & some of the videos here & trying to get back into the swing of things here. Sun, 6 Mar 2016 12:42:18 EST Howdy! Hello all,

I'm new to this site and am excited for the large (no pun intended) community here. My dietician turned me on to this site, so I'm hoping it will help me to meet my health goals.

A little about me: I've been overweight my entire life. I've tried diet after diet with little success. Over the past decade or so, I've been content with being who I am. However, I've recently gotten some bad results from a blood test, so I'm needing to make some changes in my life.... Fri, 4 Mar 2016 15:29:10 EST New to SP Hi there all. My lowest was 170 in 2001. I am currently working with a dietician.

I am hoping to find support here on SP.

thanks for having me, Mary Ann Fri, 4 Mar 2016 07:27:09 EST back to the beginning again Hi! my name is Liz. This is about the third time I have started with sparkpeople. I am such a procrastinator. I am going to try harder to keep up with the team and all the rest that this site has to offer. I've tried other things but I am totally NOT a veggie eater and I keep back sliding. This time I am going to try just counting calories and other nutrients to stay on course. I am looking forward to the next one pound at a time challenge.
I am 67 years old and am just over 50 ove... Thu, 3 Mar 2016 23:18:27 EST
