Sat, 6 Feb 2016 14:47:56 EST Travel Goals Recently retired (a bit early) and decided to do the more challenging trip while I'm still on the younger side. Yet after my first trip (to SE Asia) I realized my weight must come down if I'm to get the most from my travel experiences. I've set goals to achieve before I book any more trips and am committed to making the changes needed. Looking forward to the support of like-minded people who understand the challenges of losing weight at our age. Sat, 6 Feb 2016 11:43:39 EST Newly 50, have 70 pounds to lose Hi all, I joined SP in October, but when I got plantar fasciitis and could hardly walk, much less work out, I feel of my program. I had joined a group for people in their 40s with 50 to 99 pounds to lose, but since then I've turned 50, so here I am! My feet are much better, but not completely well and I just rejoined the gym. Party of my workout plan is to strengthen my knees. I have trouble with flights of stairs. Lunges and squats are really not a good idea for me at the moment. Hopefully s... Sat, 6 Feb 2016 08:51:38 EST Joining AGAIN. Hello, I am new again to SparkPeople. I originally joined in 2008 and have been doing the program more off than on for the last 7 years. I have been successful with it twice, but life and responsibilities got in the way and I stopped the ten minutes a day of exercise and started doing things like drinking 3 large Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffees to keep myself awake all night and all day while I took care of a dying relative.

Both times, I ended up taking care of dying relatives for a year and gained all the weight back.

My relative passed away and the iced coffees sto... Thu, 4 Feb 2016 15:22:22 EST Trying Again It seems as if I'm always starting over, but here I go again! I'm 53 and weigh somewhere around 350 (that's as high as the scale goes). I have a wonderful husband who also needs to lose a significant amount of weight. We have 3 adult children. I know that I will need support and hope to be able to provide encouragement to others. No more going on and off of this or that diet (I've done em all), waiting to go off so I can eat whatever I want until I get the gumption to go back on -- such a roller coaster. Enough.

I've set a goal to choose my results each day and act (eat) accordingly. I'm excited to use SparkPeople to help me record my food choices s... I've looked on Pinterest or other web sites, but, did you ever notice, they all show layering with either blazers, sweaters, or some other to on top of top thing. Hey y'all...I'm 52 year-old guy and I'm looking for a buddy with whom we can virtually walk side-by-side to meet our wellness goals. I'm an Evangelical Christian which to me is an important part of how I view all of life, not just food, so finding someone who shares those values is probably a good idea but it's for sure not a deal-breaker or anything. Wed, 9 Dec 2015 16:42:11 EST trying this again Hello

I have been on spark people for quite a while now but I haven't been very consistent. So now I am at the heaviest that I have ever been in my whole life. I need to do something and be consistent because if I don't I am going to start having more health problems that I already do. An my boyfriend was telling me that he is at the heaviest he has ever been so I think we will be able to do this. I know I need to set smaller goals to get to the bigger ones. I have done weight... I was on Weight Watchers for a while but had to quit it so Now I am trying to do Sparkpeople. I am South of St Louis . I live on 43 acres of woodlands , in which I raise chickens , rabbits and guineas . I have a large garden plot and a small fruit orchard. I also have 3 cats and 2 dogs. I am also a Mother , Step mother , and Grandmother . I am finding it really tough to stay focused and m... Fri, 4 Dec 2015 10:26:02 EST Need encouragement OR... I need a new scale. Can't remember when I joined SP but know it was at least 2 months ago. My goal has been to lose 1 lb each week. I have lost only 5 lbs. I am eating well. I exercise to the extent I am physically able. (I am temporarily - I hope - disabled). The scale doesn't move! There are days I want to quit, and I stay because this is the most sensible path on the healthy body journey. Does any one else have this same challenge? I would love some suggestions on how to encourage... Wed, 2 Dec 2015 01:44:16 EST Newbie Hi this is my first day. I guess it is as good as any to start, even though I have to be at a conference for the next two days. I am excited to get started. 249 Mon, 30 Nov 2015 13:52:08 EST New-bie and happy Too-bie OK, kind of goofy topic headline, but am really happy to have found this group, especially at this time of year. I like the holiday challenge - we all need so much support at this time of year. I wound up having a good thanksgiving on all fronts - planned a much more low key one this year, and I so enjoyed it. Getting back to swimming, and committing to keeping healthy on-plan foods ready, especially for crazy work schedule. Thank you for having this group, and I plan on encouraging everyo... Sat, 28 Nov 2015 20:11:05 EST Hi everyone I've been on SparkPeople for about a month and am still (not) having fun with all the navigational tools, but I have lost 10 pounds so far. I'm 52 years old, diabetic, have high blood pressure, a fatty liver, am overweight and lead a relatively sedentary life style. No, I'm not ashamed to tell people how young I am, but it's rude to ask how much I weigh (lol). Anyway,it's nice to meet you through your posts, and hopefully I can encourage all of you when I post comments. Fri, 27 Nov 2015 08:23:59 EST Making the changes stick Hi everyone! I dropped off the SP site a few years back, but at my current stage of life I'm realizing if I don't care of myself there are penalties to pay. I tend to work well in structured environments (according to my wife!) so she's encouraged me to get back on track. So far, so good. Best wishes to you in your journeys! Jim Fri, 27 Nov 2015 04:03:33 EST Hello, like to join this team! Surely over 50, and the maximum(99) pounds to lose, sounds like I might fit right in here! I am type 2 diabetic, trying out low carb and it has been working out great for me so far.I love to cook, and have been experimenting with some low carb recipes to make this lifestyle easier to follow.
I live with my daughter and her family who are all overweight so we're all in this together, but of coarse only the adults are low carbing. It helps to have everyone in the family on board to sup... Tue, 24 Nov 2015 09:06:53 EST I'm giving it a shot...again I have just recommitted to get my weight to a normal level. Over the years I've tried many things, successfully lost weight, it just keeps finding me again. Ive cut out sugar the past 10 days and dropped 5 lbs, just need to keep going. I find as m getting older speed of loss slows down. The 5 was definitely water weight. Here's to success this time! Tue, 24 Nov 2015 07:41:06 EST Hi everyone! Thu, 29 Oct 2015 02:23:18 EST Being consistent versus being current I started SP on 8/31/15, and my main focus has been just tracking what I consume. For 7 weeks, I was making my goal of averaging 2# of weight loss per week. Actually, I lost 14.5# in 6 weeks. Now, I've held steady on the scales for weeks 7 & 8. I have my consumption all jotted down in the memo feature of my phone, but I have a backlog of ELEVEN days' worth of food to track. I know that consistency is a factor in successful weight management and nutrition, but how big of a factor is it? An... Wed, 28 Oct 2015 02:05:11 EST Newcomer wants to know... I am going to be 50 in a month. I joined Spark to try to lose weight and get fit because it seems like I have a number of factors working against me. I got sober in 2009 and began gaining weight due to a couple of medications I was taking at the time, methadone and seroquel. Now 6 1/2 years later, I am in menopause and my weight went up even more! Wed, 14 Oct 2015 13:12:05 EST New Member sandra3d1 Hi - I'm navigating my way through this app, looking for an easy way to track my activity and what I eat. This makes me more aware of choices - and consequences to those choices. My husband (42 yrs) is also doing this, using WW.
I live in the Midwest and this could be a tough season as we're avid hockey fans (GO HAWKS!) as well as a wedding, family get together and holidays. I still see myself sometimes as I was before. Does anyone else feel that way. I've also been getting people at my church telling me I'm shrinking. I'm new to SP, joining a few days ago. I'm very excited to start this journey and am hoping that it works. I've tried dieting by myself and with my husband, but the scale didn't move. I need to incorporate exercise back into my life as well. My work days are long and I'm tired by the time the weekend is here. I'm sure much of that has to do with my weight and inactivity. I'm a late bloomer, having children ages 14 and 9. I want to be healthy for them and for me. Wed, 30 Sep 2015 04:33:06 EST One month in, but I haven't introduced myself Hi! My name is Denise, and I stumbled onto SparkPeople about a month ago. I actually have 109# to lose, but I didn't come across a team with that label, so I'll start with my interim goal of 50# by 2/21/16, and that qualifies me for this team.

I confess, I haven't completed the New Member Guide yet, but can someone save me some time and explain about the privacy setting of my page. Hi all!

I've been off and on Sparkpeople for a while and am looking for a team to join that will help keep me motivated to do something about my weight. I turned 50 this year and have decided that this is as good a time as any to make some constructive changes to benefit my health and keep me enjoying life. Mon, 28 Sep 2015 08:43:53 EST Hello What a warm welcome I got! Like a group hug from the whole NFL.... I am from Washington state, so I am, of course, a 12 (go 'Hawks!) Retired English teacher. Act in community theater. Write blogs that probably ramble and may not be of interest to anyone, but I have fun writing them. Four grown children. Two spoiled cats. Looking forward to learning to like who I am a bit more than I do now. Onward! Mon, 28 Sep 2015 00:00:00 EST Hi, I'm new here.....again Like most of you, I have tried EVERYTHING to lose weight in the past. Several years ago. I was even on a liquid protein diet, where I had NO solid food for over 9 months. It worked. I kept it off for several years, in fact. Then life happened...marriage, children, etc. I got too comfortable. Now, as I'm getting older, I need to try to stay around for me, my husband and our children. This is my 1st step. So looking forward to my journey. Sat, 26 Sep 2015 10:01:51 EST Where Oh Where Do I Go I'm a 67 year old woman with many varied interests.
