Trying to renew old goals and set some new ones; need to get motivated to lose some extra pounds. Thanks for encouragement! Wed, 16 Apr 2014 11:43:36 EST On the journey http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x11531x57508821 I have been on the eating healthy and loosing weight journey for about 2 years. I never made it to my goal weight, but lost about 25 lbs and felt energized and good. In the last months I have slipped back into some old habits and need to kick start my way back. Although my weight is now in the normal range, I'd like to get in the mid part of that range, but more importantly gain more consistent healthy eating habits. I do not want to surrender to this. But I do not want to have it either. 51 and not quite at menopause yet, so I'm guessing there's still hope.

Any exercise tricks/ideas/suggestions? And how long to before you actually see results?

Thanks for any feedback. I was excited, too, because I finally started dropping weight like I did a couple years back when I absolutely stuck to 1200 calories. However, I recently went in for 2 doc appts and both times the office scales marked me 7 lbs higher than my home scale (plus the Physical appt officially tagged me with high blood pres... She did not explain the exact physical cause but it is obviously something that is not a new condition. It was brought on by a severe case of intestinal flu. I have about 10 pounds to go, and I am trying to make it through the holiday season! I've read good suggestions about managing parties, etc. and I think I can handle those. But I have two ongoing challenges with regular meals and I thought I'd post something about them and see if anyone has any creative ideas!

First challenge: My husband and I are retired. Hoping to retire in a few years-I am aiming to get myself ready to play! My preference is to be outside, hiking, biking, sailing, walking my dogs --- anything!

But I have to confess something. You know all those stories about people who fight back against disease and are amazing when adversity strikes? They are so inspirational!

About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 (almo... Secondly, do I really need to eat more to lose? That is so counter-intuitive to me.

Oh, let me introduce myself! I'm from Baltimore, MD (at the moment!) and am trying to lose 20 pound... I feel blessed to have found this site, and very excited to get started. I am 58, and really not happy with myself right now. I am stuck.......and want to be the way I used to be, motivated and happy with my life. So here I go.......I am starting today. I really want to lose weight but have unsuccessful for at least two years in doing so. When I get home from work, I am starved and eat all night until I go to bed. Many times I wake up and eat in the middle of the night. Never have I been so out of control. I even do all of this when any sugar and white flour make me very ill. I hope to make many connections here that will help me stay motivated and be successful. I have prayed for self control (not one of my gifts) and know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
