I have been struggling for years to lose 5-10 pounds. I may lose 1 pound here and there but always seem to gain it right back. I joined sparkle several years ago but stopped because of no progress. Thu, 27 Mar 2014 10:24:02 EST nearing 65 and still running! I have been running over 30 years, never was fast, 9-10 minute miles and not races. I started doing longer distances in 2008 and have now run 20 half marathons and one marathon. I am just so darn slow, that now I am beginning to get discouraged. I know that I shouldn't let it bother me, but it does. I belong to a forum for women over 40, but everyone is getting PR's and running fast and here I am lucky to be doing 12 minute miles these days. Thu, 23 May 2013 14:16:22 EST Newbie Inspired by Engine 2 Program Hello! I'm a 60 yr old small frame woman in good health. I lost 60 lbs. six years ago using portion control. My lowest adult weight was 118. I felt great at that weight, but hubby and friends were always telling me I was too skinny. I'm now at 127. My jeans are snug, and I have a little fat around my middle which I hate. I would like to lose 9 lbs. I am new to Spark People, have done Weight Watchers off and on for several years, and still end up back at "the last ten pounds" I started with. I've never been more than 10-15 pounds over ideal, as the slow weight creep of middle age appeared along with menopause. Am pretty much over that, and decided that I needed to do something different. Bought the Spark Solution book, started Monday, and have lost 2.5-3 pounds already. Is it the sodium? The wine? (or lack thereof)? I don't know, but I b... I've lost 5.5 pounds since March 4 (to contrast: I lost 8 pounds in ALL of 2012! And then put 2 of them back on in Jan. 2013 ...) The process is 2 days of semi-fasting (i.e. calorie restriction to less than 500 those days), normal eating for 5 days. Feeling kind of discouraged so looked for a forum for some support. Family members are not encouraging or helping in any way so I have been on my own and the road is starting to feel a little long. My clothes are loose but it doesn't seem as if there has really been much of a change and I am trying to get going on goal of daily exercise plan. I really thought I would see more of a change at almost 20 lbs lost though what starte... Sat, 28 Jul 2012 02:38:21 EST jesusgirl011 Good morning friends and friends yet to be met. I believe that GOD has ordained all my steps, so I am here for a purpose. I so look forward to meeting the challenges and to do my best to give all that I can to support others. It is a very lonely place by yourself and each of us have the ability and choice to change that, and I made that choice a couple of days ago when I joined Sparkpeople. Have a GOD filled day, keep smiling because today is not an accident but a gift. Thu, 26 Jul 2012 07:58:30 EST What a great site - thanks for being here! I can't believe how easy this site is to navigate - just started Sunday and love how the site integrates with my phone so no excuses NOT to track what I eat. So glad to be part of the team! This time for sure - those last 10 lbs gone for good!

Good luck everyone! Thu, 26 Jul 2012 05:47:42 EST I know I'm committed when... I sort out my "too big" clothes and pass them along to charity. Sat, 14 Jul 2012 11:27:52 EST I am ready for the last few pounds to be gone.. .. Although I know its a continuous journey after that honeymoon period and that is what I will really need to work on. Once I get to my goal weight in the next month or so, my REAL goal is to maintain in small amounts at a time. It is so helpful to have others right along with me. Thank you and good luck to all. Thu, 28 Jun 2012 23:43:39 EST Progress Hello, everyone. Just taking a moment say hello. Several years ago, I decided it was time to get serious about getting healthy, and using Dr. Phil's food plan, I dropped 65 pounds. I felt terrific and swore that I would never put that weight back on. Except I did, slowly, a couple of pounds here, a few more pounds there. Eventually I regained all but 8 pounds.

But last year was a rough year, with some medical problems and several deaths in the family. I regained my determinat... Hi, This is my first month on the site. I have been lucky to have stayed fairly slim and in good shape up to age 51. Due to a back injury and several tragedies in my family, I fell off the exercise and eating well trend for about a year. I developed Pre-diabetes...the family curse, from which my mom died.

So I am back, tracking my food and exercising as much as I can (I am doing ChaLEAN Extreme from Beachbody and extra cardio and abs), to keep from developing diabetes, lose a few p... Fri, 27 Apr 2012 16:29:29 EST Trying to get to where I was I am a grandma who has always been very active. At least I was until I had an accident and broke my kneecap. This injury has really sidelined me and now I find myself gaining more lbs. than I know what to with. I work full time, many days on my feet all day, so consequently, after I get home and get dinner cooked, I find it hard to do any besides sit. I am hoping that if I can lose the 15 lbs that I have gained, maybe the pain will ease up as well. Wed, 25 Apr 2012 22:26:24 EST Having trouble staying on track My name is Karin. Why is it soooo hard for me to lose a measly 10 lbs?? Is it because I don't look THAT bad and my clothes aren't THAT tight? There is so much info that I'm overloaded. Am I not eating enough? That's my first guess because it's hard to take the leap to eating MORE to lose, even tho, in theory, it makes sense. I've struggled with these same 10 lbs my whole life, and I've lost it before, but eventually I gain it back. Is my body telling me to just be satisfied with where I am? I... Wed, 25 Apr 2012 12:49:59 EST lindabelle07 Well, here I am! I seem to lack motivation unless I spy a photograph and know that I'm just putting on weight despite being pretty healthy otherwise. Mon, 23 Apr 2012 04:27:44 EST new to Spark People Hi,
My name is Valerie and I am new to Spark People. I have 5 to 10 more pounds to lose, but have played around with the same 4 pounds for the last year. I lost 25 pounds before that. I am frustrated because I have a rib injury that has resulted in needing to stop taking a body pump class and now I have a strained muscle in my inner thigh. Trying to figure out how to exercise and get better Thu, 19 Apr 2012 09:02:55 EST motivation needed I am 67 years old and am losing weight very slowly, too slowly, and I get very frustrated when I weigh myself and have lost either 1lb or nothing and know I have stuck to the rules. I play golf and walk the dog, so get a decent amount of exercise. Does anyone find that this is a problem for them. Mon, 12 Mar 2012 08:24:57 EST What do you do when you have a cold? After rededicating myself to losing the last 5 pounds I have come down with a cold. Sun, 11 Mar 2012 12:39:49 EST Hi from Northern California Hi! I'm renewing my effort to get rid of the last 5 pounds that have creeped back after achieving my goal for my son's wedding. Portion control is my biggest issue.
I used SparkPeople to help me achieve my original goal but have not used the message boards or posted in the past.
I'm delighted to have found this message board. I work from home as a Virtual Business Support Specialist which means only one thing…I never get away from my pc and exercising is something of the past! Now, my problem is not with food per say, more, the quality of food that I eat. Fri, 3 Feb 2012 23:34:32 EST Hi from Ithaca, NY Hello,

My name is Alan and I am trying out this online version of a weight loss support group to see if it works for me. My main problem is snacking a lot to relieve stress. I do a strenuous bike ride to work and back, and lift weights 2 to 3 times a week, but my body is getting acclimated to that level of exertion, and I just like food. Calorie restriction is not fun. Fri, 3 Feb 2012 11:51:49 EST Slow going and exercise. I lost all my weight last year and hit my goal and for the most part kept it off until the holidays. That just won't do as I don't want to go through all that again. I have just a few pounds to lose but it is not coming off. I actually think I am not eating enough calories as I exercise a lot. Is that possible? I tried to find an article about that but haven't found one. I'm not gaining now but not losing the few pounds I want to lose either.
Thu, 2 Feb 2012 10:04:03 EST
