SparkPeople 40 Somethings With 50-99 Pounds to Lose Team Messageboard This team is for those of us in our 40's, hoping to lose 50-99 pounds. Welcome! SparkPeople 40 Somethings With 50-99 Pounds to Lose Team Messageboard Discouraged So I'm still on my first week, just started on Tuesday, actually. I'm really frustrated because I have not yet found any workouts, even the seated, no-impact ones, that I can fully tolerate for the entire video. I knew my health had gone downhill and that physical exertion was difficult, but I did not realize just HOW bad it really was, and it's extremely discouraging!! Heck, I can't even make it a full 2 minutes on the stair-stepper that my friend loaned me. Am I just wasting my time attempt... Fri, 27 Mar 2015 16:24:58 EST New Hi. My name is Kim and I'm from Florida. I have 50 pounds to lose. I also have two lovely children who just so happen to be dogs. That's all my husband and I can handle. :) I promise I'll open up, I'm just nervous.

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 15:59:27 EST My BF List Hiii... I'm a 40-something mom with a BF list as my goal - Be Fit, Be Fab, By 50. I've scrolled thru and recommended others to the website for several years but only joined recently myself. I've decided to use the website as the spark to help motivate me to complete my BF list and make that much needed lifestyle change. I was an exercise fanatic, an avid reader, and motivator for anyone that needed support; that all changed once stress stepped in and took over my life. As a result of all... Thu, 26 Mar 2015 12:28:52 EST Losing is my ONLY option! Hello, my name is Tammy. I am 40 years old and I am completely new to the site, and let me just say right off that I am going to need a lot of support to keep motivated to do this. I have struggled with obesity for the majority of my adult life, and over the past few years my health has gone downhill, and I have 2 options....push myself to lose the weight, or slowly die. I am on meds for high blood pressure, I am anemic, I have chronic pain due to osteoarthritis, and at my most recent checkup... My kids range from S- 18, D-16, D-15, S-13, S-12, S-9, D-6, S-4, S-1. Our house feels like Grand Central Station. It's hard to keep things clean and in order. I am a little unsure if I should reach out like this. I guess I can give it a try. I use to be 100 lbs. I use to walk every where I needed to go. Now I am 172 lbs. I want the energy back and I want to look good again. I have struggled with depression in the early years of my marrig... Wed, 18 Mar 2015 10:52:35 EST weird change....that really worked. I thought I drank a lot of water. It was my beverage of choice. I'd take a couple of 16 ouncers to work. I drank some when I got up in the morning, out of a glass. I may or may not drink both of them during the day. When I started back on sparkpeople, I switched to a tumbler with a straw. A 24 oz. tumbler with a straw. Yesterday I drank 5 of them! Now I don't fill them all the way to the top, so they are probably not 24 oz. But still, that water goes down much easier. I can sip on ... Sun, 1 Mar 2015 03:58:57 EST on the fence Hi there,
It has been so wonderful hearing from others who are working on their health goals! It is helping me with my motivation. Like I recently reported, I'm tired before I have even begun. I'm also thinking I can do one of two things: keep doing what I'm doing and feel safe not doing anything OR start, one step at a time, working towards a new way of life. I realize as I am now middle-aged that different things are important than were important in my 20's and 30' health, my ... Fri, 27 Feb 2015 19:08:18 EST Hello Fellow Losers! :) My name is Eileen and I am 41 years young. I've been a memeber of Sparkpeople for years but am hoping to become more active now.

Like many of you, I've been struggling with my weight all my life. I recently lost 30 lbs (since November) after I finally realized I had enough. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and I am at my heaviest now, it is so frustrating. I've tried every program there is, with varying degrees of success, but at the end I always gain the weight back. I found a local place that does aerial yoga for $10 a class, drop-in. I'd seen it before and was intrigued, but today I finally signed up and did it. Boy am I glad! It was crazy, and fun! I've never really done yoga before (well, I've taken maybe half a dozen classes in my life but never regularly) and I am incredibly INflexible. I was a gymnast in high school, but a trainer once told me that the overstretch I accomplished then has had a "rubber band" effect now, and I can barely bend o... Sun, 22 Feb 2015 23:05:31 EST tired and just starting Hi there, Feeling awkward being here. I think I'm in the contemplative stage of losing 100 pounds. I lost 110 pounds a couple of years ago using a specific diet program and all I did was starve for over a year. Gained it all back in a matter of months. But, I'm here. I'm a writer, and I belong to an online group for writers where the focus is accountability. It has worked wonders for me. I'm hoping to create the same thing for my health and fitness goals. My goals are simple: MOVE every day (I'm too sedentary now); eat the recommended daily veggies & fruits; eat more fiber; get in those omega 3s; get sugar out of my life (I may be a sugar-aholic; once I have a morsel that contains sugar, I can't shut it off - the crav... I got stressed with change of Administrators at work (school) and ate and ate. I need to lost that plus more. What I need is support, support and support. My biggest problem is snacking while I cook and before bed. Any help/advice will be appreciated. Thanks. Wed, 21 Jan 2015 19:58:12 EST Before and after pics? Do you? I hate having my picture taken as it is, but I certainly don't want to have a picture taken when I am feeling my worst.

Did you take before and after pictures? Hello and welcome to my health and wellness fitness journey, this was actually my very first day of my journey. Actually a few days ago I have made a health discovery from my cpap machine. I really haven't been consistent with my machine and the cause of myself not being consistent with it, very tired throughout the day, very low energy. At first I thought it was my thyroid problems, but I said to myself let me try using my machine consistently for a few days and see what happens. The results... Mon, 20 Oct 2014 19:04:54 EST Hi I am a newbie I am married and have 2 wonderful sons 20 and 14 yrs old. They love me and tell me I am fine the way I am and do not need to lose weight. I am unhappy with my body and lack of energy. I have a hard time keeping focused on my weight and exercise goals without a positive kick in the butt! I am hoping to find that encouragement (kick) here with your help. My goal is to lose 50 pounds by April 2015. Sun, 19 Oct 2014 19:28:51 EST Nice to have found you! The rocktober challenges might be just what I need! I refound Sparkpeople again after a few years and a few pounds. Hoping that filling out the diary will remind me what eating within my calories REALLY looks like, instead of wondering why I am not losing weight 15

I live in Colorado and have also returned to working out. Trying to go at 5:30 everyday!

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 17:22:15 EST Hello! Hi! New from Ohio here... have 75lbs to lose and starting slowly. I found this web site on a google search. I am a desperate lady, desperate enough to try anything to lose weight. My health is affected by my weight. I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, hypothyroidism, and I am borderline diabetic. I will admit when I need help, and I need it. I also need to get some kind of motivation. I need to be held accountable of my weight loss somehow. Thu, 9 Oct 2014 16:50:22 EST Where does everybody live? I've been meeting some real nice neat people on this team. It never dawned on me to ask where everybody lives. So if I may, I would like to ask the question -- where do you live? I'll start this forum off by answering -- I live in Port Orchard WA (go Seahawks!). The GREAT NORTHWEST (been there since 1990 and I love it)!!!!! Thu, 9 Oct 2014 16:25:42 EST Getting Fit in Colorado Hello team, I've got a lot of pounds to shred and am finding it hard to stay motivated. I have done really well over the past year and lost a ton of inches but now it's time to focus on the scale too! I go to Planet Fitness 5x per week and am using a plan the trainer there set up for me but am finding it harder to go each day. I show up, I work, I sweat but I'm lacking in motivation. Any tips to get that mojo back? Thu, 9 Oct 2014 12:12:39 EST Hello From North Carolina! Hello team! I've been on and off of Spark since 2008. I've lost and gained weight several times since then. I turned 41 this past June. I don't feel like a 'number' though. I find it strange how society's perception of us changes just b/c of a number. Jennifer Lopez's new video 'Booty' (the song itself is not the topic showcased her great body...she's in GREAT shape...better than a lot of 20 year olds, yet a lot of comments talked about how she's too old to be doing a video like that, she needs to go on and retire, etc.

I'm also at ... (I also cannot get SparkPeople on mobile, but at least their site will operate well as mobile website.

This time, with Spar... Sun, 7 Sep 2014 04:18:12 EST Getting a little discouraged... Hello Everyone,

I'm a bit discouraged at the moment. I stepped on the scale today to see how things were going so far even though it hasn't been a week yet since I last weighed. Instead of loosing weight I'm GAINING! 46 I wonder why?? I've cut out all sweets and junk food. I only drink water and lots of it. I'm eating healthy and within my calorie intake usually 1200 or so.

As far as exercise I'm doing a bit of everything but started doing streng... Fri, 5 Sep 2014 10:32:24 EST New to lifestyle changes Good morning! I'm really happy to be here with all of you. I have been putting off and pretending that I didn't need to really lose weight. But now I'm more than 50 lbs over weight. I don't even really recognize who the person is who looks back at me in the mirror. I noticed a few years ago, I pretty much stopped looking, hoping it would just go away.
I just joined (again after a pathetic attempt to join 2 years and 18lbs lighter ago) and I'm really looking forward to hearing abou... I need to loose around 53 pounds. I weigh 173 and want to get down to 120. I've been this weight for the past few years. I've only been on this site the past couple of days and from what I've seen it looks like it will be really helpful and very supportive! Some of my interests are needle work such as counted cross stitch and quilting (by hand), art work such as painting and doing origami and reading Christian books as well as watching Christian movies. I thought when I input my walking in the cardio that it would automatically update the miles - but it doesn't. Yet, I can find no way to enter the mileage manually either. What am I missing?? Wed, 3 Sep 2014 09:21:46 EST New to Team Hi! I have been a Spark People member for a while but have been inactive. I am ready to try again. I hope something permanent clicks. I typically work 10 hours per day and have a hard time finding time to workout. I am usually too exhausted to work when I get home or have kids to shuttle around and I have to get up at 4:30 am just to get to work on time. I have not worked out a routine that will work for me. I hope to get some motivation from this team! Tue, 2 Sep 2014 22:20:50 EST Not new, but new here :) Hi, all. I joined SparkPeople in 2011 and was very active for about 8-9 months, then fell out of practice on checking in and have been back on for spurts of time since then. During my most active time I lost almost 40 pounds, and maintained for about a year before slowing falling back into bad habits (I didn't reach my goal at that time, but it was still major progress for me).

I have been actively back to SP since May of this year, and have checked in and out (lurking) since I jo... Mon, 1 Sep 2014 08:30:54 EST Another newbie to the group Hi everyone. I just joined SP two days ago so still in the process of sorting through everything and getting things set up. A lot to take in. So far I am really liking what I am seeing here. Looking forward to using the tools that SP has as well as chatting with others going through the same process that I am. I might have some questions in the next couple days as I continue to look around and figure out how everything works and any tips so thanks in advance.
