I know some people get going by having coffee or some sort of caffeine, but do you have any other motivators?

I have 35 minute drive to work each morning and plugging in my MP3 player and singing and otherwise getting down and dancing (as best I can) while I drive really revs me up. I've tried using SparkPeople and even joined this team in the past, but kept falling off the wagon. This time I'm doing something different in that I'm doing a version of a sugar detox. So far, so good. I started in the first week of March with quitting soda and junk food, and then in the second week I started avoiding grains, processed sugar, and white potatoes. It is HARD, especially with a husband and three children who are not following the same meal plan.

I don'... Tue, 18 Mar 2014 05:05:22 EST Sick of carrying this weight~ In more ways than 1! However, with a busy job and a young one at home I tend to not participate much in the "team page".

I'd like to say goodbye to the team. Today I officially turn 4... I ordered my 24 day challenge today and am hoping to start it this weekend. I also ordered the catalyst. I have a coworker who has lost a lot of weight since the summer on the program and who is now a distributor. I am hoping it works. I have tried other programs and would give up because I never saw a change. I tend to lose inches before pounds.

One of the questions I have is what do you do when the 24 day challenge is up? What should I continue to use or take? Any success ... Mon, 17 Feb 2014 19:23:50 EST Hello Everyone I still have one more year left in my 30s and I'm the biggest I've been in my entire life! Up until last week I was a hopeless, helpless mess unable to do anything to change my life. Last week I woke up in the middle of the night to what felt like someone had punched me in the chest. I was terrified that I was having a heart attack. As my husband scrambled to get to his phone I let out a blood curdling belch that almost immediately stopped the pain. The following day I saw my Dr who diagnose... Mon, 17 Feb 2014 14:51:00 EST New to the team Hi everyone, I re-joined Spark People about 3-4 weeks ago hoping to lose my last 70#. I haven't done much, my daughter was in the hospital for about a week and is now home getting better. So with all the stress with that, exercise was the last thing on my mind along with eating well, which I know is no excuse. I am ready to restart my journey and I'm looking for friends to motivate and support me. I don't have the support here at home. I'm hoping most of you will add me as a friend, I know i... Let's do this together! Fri, 14 Feb 2014 10:55:08 EST New here! Hey all,

I'm 37 and new to spark people... currently at 200 lbs and trying to lose at least 60 lbs of that... I just got on here today and I'm hoping it works out for me and I can remain as motivated as I have been all day!

Question for any ladies around my age... What is the general consensus on weight lifting? I mean, I'm kind of confused. I know I build muscle easily and was going hard on the weights for a bit and noticed I was getting rather bulky in the arms... I d... Thu, 13 Feb 2014 22:14:28 EST Getting back in the swing of things... Hi! I have been on and off diets for many years and just recently decided to consider myself going through a change of lifestyle rather than another diet. I am committed to exercising at least 5-6 days a week, only eating 2 servings of whole grains a day, 1 serving of lean beef a week, and I am only eating healthy sugars (like fruit) other than my one cheat a week. This is my 3rd week following my new lifestyle plan and not only have I lost 6.2 lbs but I just generally feel better. I haven't ... Thu, 13 Feb 2014 22:01:04 EST Hello Hi guys. I'm Brooke. I have been off and on this site for years losing and gaining, but at this point in my life I decided I better get serious. I'm married and have two young children and I'm not doing them any favors or setting a good example the way things are at this moment. So I'm sure I will be seeing you around. Wed, 12 Feb 2014 22:33:09 EST Another New Girl Hello! I could write pages on 'Who I Am,' but I will spare you (for now) and just break it down to the basics. I am 30-something, married and mommied. I've been on my weight loss journey for several years. I've come a long way, losing 60lbs. (my halfway point), completely reversing my diabetes risk after over a decade of hovering on the line, and lowering my triglycerides by 400+ points. I became a fitness coach, and was at the top of my game. The day after my first 5K, I was diagnosed with t... Wed, 12 Feb 2014 21:47:20 EST Intro Hi. This always feels so awkward, but I'm a stay at home mom of 4 and I watch my 2 nieces during the week. So with caring for 6 kids most days (5 of whom are 4 and under), I find myself grabbing whatever to eat, not paying attention to how much of it I'm eating, and then stress eating during the few moments I have to myself. I lost a bunch of weight 7 years ago, but have gained it all back plus a little more. I have been blaming everything else, but really I am in control of what I am putting... Wed, 12 Feb 2014 14:14:52 EST Howdy! Hi everyone! My name is Dori, I'm 35. I was on another site for the last few years but looked at this one, as a few people commented it was better and though I haven't been on here long, I love all the different options and more in-depth nutrition on here and am happy I switched! I'm still learning to navigate this site. After being so close to my ultimate goal when I got married, I gained a lot of weight afterwards due to many factors(one being my husband is an incredible cook). Thankfully w... Wed, 12 Feb 2014 00:46:32 EST motivation interruption due to enemy Hey howdy

So, I wrote in my blog about my day yesterday and how excited I was at the possibility of trying something new and good for myself to get started again on being healthy and fit even with my thesis paper breathing down my neck every day. I gotta have time for me.

So I make this list of the things I need to accomplish the next few months and ideas to get me there. I was eager to start today and really get working when the cold or flu from Hell just up and hit m... Tue, 11 Feb 2014 22:08:44 EST Try try try Hi all! I was here a few years ago and left to return to Babyfit and I'm back!

Within the last 6 months I was down to 220 lbs and then surged up to 240. I'm currently at 235... I don't think I will ever actually see 160 again but it's a nice dream. Tue, 11 Feb 2014 17:58:58 EST Odd Question about Food I have an odd question. Are you able to eat all of your calories each day and still eat healthy? I am really struggling to do so. I exercise for an hour a day and, using a heart rate monitor, I know I burn roughly 425 calories. Add that to the minimum of 1200 that I am to eat a day, it bumps me to a minimum of about 1625 calories a day. I just can't consume that much food in order to meet the necessary calories unless I don't eat healthy. I don't want to stop exercising. Any ideas?? Tue, 11 Feb 2014 17:46:59 EST Salutations! Hello all! I am 34 and in need of losing weight. I need somewhere to check in where I can be honest about my successes and defeats. I've been married for ten years and in that time I've gained on average 6 lbs a year. It's time to stop. My weigh loss goals are as follows:

Reach 199 lbs and no longer have a 2 in front of my weight
Reach 185 lbs and fall into "Overweight" BMI
Reach 150 lbs and be the weight I was at my wedding
Reach 125 lbs and be smack in the mid... Tue, 11 Feb 2014 12:25:08 EST Straight to the point introduction. I normally do not join groups that have more than a couple dozen people because most members are inactive and/or you get lost in the mix. I saw more than a few active threads here so I thought this would be a good exception.

I am a full time single mom to a 3 year old who does not attend daycare so I try to maintain his development with preschool activities. He also attends (when town is not flooded like now) 5 different club activities each week. Mon, 10 Feb 2014 18:47:21 EST Hello Again I used SP around a year ago and fell of the wagon when some things went south at home in the fall. Unfortunately, a lot of the friends I made on here were also gone. I greatly enjoyed and felt motivated by seeing positive posts and even struggles in the friend feed. So, anyone who wants to add me as a friend I'd like that!
I'm Kelly from Indiana, 36, 201 lbs at 5ft tall. Eating out is my biggest problem, as is commuting 2 hours every work day. Mon, 10 Feb 2014 10:46:55 EST Starting over I tried spark before, and I think the reason it did not stick was because I was not social and just used the food/fitness tracker. This time around I am using more of the functions. It is a huge wake up call to go from needing to lose 20- 30 pounds to needing to lose 50+ in a matter of 2 years. I can't believe I let myself gain so much and never put a stop to the bad habits that where causing it. I kicked the Dt Mt Dew habbit a few months ago but replaced it with Dt Dr Pepper and Dt Root ... Sun, 9 Feb 2014 17:02:33 EST A new lease on life Hi all!

I am a 32 year old cancer survivor, wife and mom of one. After a 5 year battle with multiple myeloma I am gratefully in full response to treatment, though I am loathe to say I am healthy. For this entire journey I have told myself that the extra weight is from all the steroids, or that I would lose it when I had my transplant last spring, but not so. While I believe that during treatment was not the time to try to lose weight I don't think that gaining(!) 50lbs assisted ... Sat, 8 Feb 2014 00:55:08 EST Hi looking to gain friends and lose weight.. Hi
Im a stay at home mom..Ive been overweight my entire life and been called fat since the first day at school when I didnt even know what the word meant. Thu, 6 Feb 2014 20:26:52 EST Gained back all the weight I lost :( I was doing great my first 3 weeks. I lost 4 pounds. This week I was so busy, I didn't keep track of what I was eating. I ate what I had available. I still did my 45 to 60 mins. exercise daily but, I guess I was eating more calories than I was losing. I gained 3 pounds. I'm off to my zumba class today. I am charging on. I will not lose hope. I also took measurements today. I'm hoping I am losing fat and gaining muscles. Can we seem like we are gaining if we are losing fat and gaini... Thu, 6 Feb 2014 15:26:46 EST I'm new... Hello,

I am new to spark people, and have just recently decided to focus on getting myself healthier. I am from Tampa, FL, and am a RN. I work in the local school district as a school nurse, and just graduated school in January 2014. I have been overweight, and now obese, since I was 11, so after 20 years I need to make the change. I am excited to begin my journey, but also apprehensive as I know it will be a long, hard road. Hope to enjoy the journey and help every time I can Thu, 6 Feb 2014 09:50:09 EST Week 2 and I'm actually doing this! I am excited to see so many resisting a bad food they are craving and getting up and exercising! You all give more motivation than you think to other people on this team! It has definitely helped me! I have skipped a couple desserts that I wanted this week since it didn't fit within my calorie intake and those triumphs, while small to some, feel so empowering to me! I'm doing this and I will control my own life and health! Oops, I meant to put this under the weekly chat but guess I'm s... Thu, 6 Feb 2014 08:53:25 EST Hi everybody!! I am not new to SP, I have been a member since 2007. I lost a lot of weight running and doing crossfit, but then had knee surgery (running long distances when you are over 300lbs, maybe not such a good plan...)- I gained a bunch back, but luckily not all and have been fighting to get the rest off. Wed, 5 Feb 2014 03:26:30 EST Hi everyone! Hi y'all! I've been wanting to lose weight for a while (and tried once before), but I'm an awesome procrastinator, and have been putting it off. I've been avoiding looking in mirrors, but when I passed by one a couple weeks ago and caught my reflection, I thought to myself, "Man I'm fluffy, this has to stop!" Despite this, I'm having a tough time getting started so any advice or support would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I'm addicted to junk food!

I'm starting a 6-month clas... Sun, 2 Feb 2014 22:31:10 EST How would you track this? Hi Everyone!

Today I walked outside with my daughter to sell Girl Scout cookies. We were out for 40 minutes, but most of that time was spent standing while she talked to the people at each house. When we were walking, it was pretty slow because the sidewalks and driveways were super icy. So, I'm not sure how to track this! I didn't think to bring my pedometer with me so I have no idea what the number of steps was. If I track 40 minutes of walking, that doesn't seem right. But it wa... Sun, 2 Feb 2014 14:41:30 EST Exercise videos for kids? Does anyone have any good recommendations for workout videos for kids that I could do with them? It is near impossible to find time to work out, so I am going to attempt to get the kids involved (Since they could use exercise as well!). Just need some good activities or videos that don't require a lot of room (we don't have a large living space) for kids ages 3-14...
Sun, 2 Feb 2014 13:06:07 EST Hi, I'am giving this another try! Hello everyone! I have so many obstacles to get past, I have decided to take control before it goes out of control, I do not over eat, I under eat which is just as bad if not worse. I have develped a phobia about looking at myself in the mirror and hating the reflection. I know I need to feel better about myself. I am hoping to change all these issues about myself in a helathier and more positive way! Sun, 2 Feb 2014 12:49:46 EST Newbie again Hi everyone, I joined back in July, but lost motivation. Then my husband asked me to marry him again (renew our marriage vows) for our 15th anniversary this year! So now I have new motivation- a dress fitting coming up in May! I am also hoping that I can change to a healthier lifestyle, and pass that on to our 7 kids. Any suggestions for dealing with Thyroid disease, working out with 7 kids, and encouraging those 7 kids to better eating would be greatly appreciated!
Oh, and my goal is t... Sun, 2 Feb 2014 12:35:24 EST Spark Reloaded I joined Spark back in 2008, was laid off from work in 2009 and I stepped away from Spark and eating healthy. I am back motivated, I picked up a Nutribullet recently and have enjoyed the morning smoothies. I am looking at getting back in to running, but will start with walking first. I want to get back to my weight I was when I was in the military and a daily routine. I don't expect a change overnight, but I want to do something to make a change now that I am 35. Sun, 2 Feb 2014 11:16:52 EST disappointment I am not sure if I am "assuming" anything. But I swear my husband is trying to sabotage this whole healthy thing I have going on. He brings home fast food, candy, and soda frequently. These are things I loved when I was just not caring about anything. I have nicely declined every time he has offered me anything. However, last night he brought home a small order (which is much smaller than I would have wanted in the past) of sweet and sour chicken and rice. I gave in!
Now I feel like cru... Thu, 30 Jan 2014 20:49:23 EST Here we go again :) I'm back for the umpteenth time, but this time, I've finished my degree and am ready to make and take the time to live a healthier life. I've just started back to the gym after a 4-month hiatus, and was pleased to find that I haven't lost that much of my endurance or strength, despite the weight I've gained back.

I live in central PA with my husband and 12-y/o daughter, I love to read, I'm starting to love to cook, and I think I'll probably venture into some new hobbies and activi... Thu, 30 Jan 2014 11:48:07 EST Breakfast HELP! I am having a hard time getting enough balanced calories in a day, and I think it comes down to not eating enough at breakfast. I don't know what to eat! I get bored with food very easily, so I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has for a quick, easy, filling breakfast. (I have super high cholesterol, so it has to be pretty low-fat).

Thanks in advance!
Amber Thu, 30 Jan 2014 11:31:04 EST Wanna Boost Day Before Weigh In Tomorrow is my weigh in. I'm excited because I've done really well this week and I want to see if the scale reflects that. BUT, I had two small scoops of ice cream for dessert. Not a problem calorie-wise, but dairy always makes me feel bloated and kind of gross the next day.

So that got me thinking, maybe there's something I could do to my diet the day before a weigh in that will make me feel really awesome. Something that I'm probably not ready to do all the the time right now, b... Wed, 29 Jan 2014 23:33:11 EST Hey All, You Look Nice. I did my best when I was active in a fun group. I am desperately seeking a group to help me get fit!!! Sun, 26 Jan 2014 11:21:49 EST Hello Excited to start taking care of myself! Sun, 26 Jan 2014 01:01:11 EST Back again Hello Sparkers!! My name is Ashley. I am back for my 3rd time with SP. I started in 2012, and lost 20lbs. I have kept most of it off. I am proud to say that I have been out of the 200 club for almost 2 years now. I still have lots of work to do before I get to a healthy BMI. I usually end up loosing my motivation, so I am planning on being more active on the community side of Spark to keep me going. So thank you in advance for your help. 211 Sat, 25 Jan 2014 21:57:46 EST Hello :) Hello everyone. I'm new. I just posted an introduction on the main Forum site, but if anyone wants more specifics, please don't hesitate to ask. 213 I am going to be 35 in less than a month and I have been obese all my life. My weight has been ballooning out of control (along with my type 2 diabetes) for the past year. I need to get better. I need to lose weight and the diabetes. 521 Sat, 25 Jan 2014 21:28:58 EST Thank you for the warm welcome! Hello, everyone!

I want to thank you for the warm welcome. I signed up for Spark yesterday, ran around doing errands, and then came back and signed into a team on my own today. I choose you guys because I'm "thirty-something" (34) and trying to lose 70ish pounds.

My motivation is three-fold:
1.) I've been wanting to get healthier since I started my graduate studies, but too many hours in a lab or on the computer typing up the results have made this difficult. <BR... Sat, 25 Jan 2014 10:14:44 EST hey guys.... I am new!! Hope to meet many of you and encourage one another Fri, 24 Jan 2014 22:15:13 EST tight clothes I have been working really hard to lose weight and be healthier. The scale says that I have lost a total of 12 pounds, as of Monday. YAY!!! If I have lost 12 pounds why are my clothes still fitting like they always have? This is really disappointing to me. I want to know what it feel like to put on a pair of jeans and have them be even a little loose. Grrr..... Fri, 24 Jan 2014 14:09:49 EST I need will power Hello fellow weight losers. I seriously want and need to lose weight and eat healthy and exercise for my son and myself. But some place down the road I've lost my will power to do any of it. I thought that by joining this site/community it might help. Sincerely hope so. If any of you have any advice please email/text me.
Thu, 23 Jan 2014 20:38:16 EST How do you un-learn laziness? I've been thinking about what i need to do for myself health-wise in between the insanity of working (and just starting part-time job 2.5--its tacked onto my ship job, but i do get another paycheck thankfully) and working on my master's degree. The tough part is that i have no good habits to speak of.

The difficulty i think is that i really have no clue where i'm going or what I want. I'm a mother of two kids. My daughter will turn 13 next week and my son is 11. I've been married for 14 years to my amazing husband. I was on sparkpeople about a year ago. I left due to some health news. Since then we've moved to another state and are settled now, for the most part. I think it's time to get back on the horse, so to speak. I look forward to meeting everyone. Wed, 22 Jan 2014 20:24:49 EST Greetings Hi, I am new to tje site and group. Especially my right foot. It's not my ankles per se, but right where my foot connects to my lower leg bone has been hurting for a couple of weeks now. The arch of my foot hurts, the top of my foot hurts, and all the areas in between. At the end of the day, my foot/ankle just feels like it's broken. I'm assuming it's because of my excess weight. I have very nice, relatively new sneakers with good support that I wear during the day, s... Tue, 21 Jan 2014 21:45:34 EST Have not been on here in years. I signed up back in 2007 then introduced myself in 2012. I need some motivation in my life since my kids or my husband will not help. Tue, 21 Jan 2014 17:36:57 EST New Today, Joined Team 50-99 Hi everyone, I'm Little, and just wanted to post here and introduce myself to the team. I have 50 lbs to lose, maybe a few more, but will see. My body composition is a little off. I have 147 lean body mass, which I hate. But losing 50 lbs. would leave me at 20% body fat. So who knows, if I want to go lower, I prop should, but will see. Sorry I sometimes ramble. LOL
Well I hope we can all reach our goals together.

The way I measured body mass in case anyone wants to do the same... Tue, 21 Jan 2014 16:20:24 EST Hi Hello I am a stay at home mom. Lately I have been visiting Sparkpeople looking for ideas, motivation, inspiration, tools. Now, it is time I find some support. Those who aren't just looking to lose that last 10 or 20lbs.

Being this over weight is preventing me from living. It is extremely uncomfortable and I am just sick of it. I'm ... The first had some nice folks who didn't stick with the site--sooooo, I didn't stick with it either. I exercise fairly consistently, but eat and drink so poorly that I negate any positive effects of my exercise. I'm 40 to 50 pounds overweight and am tired and/or stressed all the time. I work full time and have 3 amazing boys under the age of 10. I want to have energy, peace, and general well-being, so I can be the best prof. and mom I can be. Mon, 20 Jan 2014 17:49:28 EST The New Girl Hi! I just joined SP with the goal of losing weight, getting healthy, and learning to love myself again. I am single mother of a 16 year old. Over the last couple years I have experienced quite a bit of loss and I turned to food for comfort. I have developed a very unhealthy relationship with food, an addiction actually. I don't have much of a support system at home so I'm hoping to find support here. I'm sure there are many of you out there who are experiencing or have experienced the things... That is, until I had kids....
With my 1st I bf, so that helped a lot but even then I was 30 lbs or so from my goal weight. After my 2nd the weight just wouldn't come off. Long time "student" of nutritional theory by way of internet, magazines, books, you name it, who has a terrible time incorporating this knowledge into her own life here. After successfully working off 40 pounds from about mid 2010 through late 2012, I put it all back on after moving into our first home (I hate this economy) with my SO. I knew what to be eating, and kept us on track through the first 6 months or ... Sun, 19 Jan 2014 21:50:31 EST New to Sparkpeople Hi everyone!

I am really excited to be here. I can already tell this is a great community.

I'm not really good at these " introduce yourself" posts. My goal is to lose 100 pounds. My name is Megan and this is my second time doing this program (lifestyle change). I really want to be slender and healthy again, I was in my mid 20s when I was at my smallest weight then I got married, lost a few jobs (layoffs) and through it all my weight has slowly creeped up and now I'm the biggest I have ever been in my life. I don't want to gain anymore weight and I want to be healthy again. I would appreciate any help y'all can give me. Thank you! Sun, 5 Jan 2014 18:48:10 EST Wanting a change... I'm not really excited about making these changes, but I want a new body and new life. I had major neck surgery in September and I am trying to get back in shape. I didn't realize how out of control my eating had gotten. I don't think I have been THAT sedentary in all my life-recovering from surgery. I'm tired of feeling alone and trying to do things by myself.... I'm ready for a change. 521 Sun, 5 Jan 2014 17:05:14 EST Just getting started Super Excited to have found this site. Was looking for a place I could track my intake. I love that it can create meal plans, and shopping lists. Goal setting, it really seems to have it all. I have a lot to lose, about 80lbs in all. I want it to be a long term lifestyle change, I know will not happen overnight. I've been seriously thinking about weight loss surgery, but I really don't think it's what's best for me. I have more than 100 lbs. to lose, and I think I can do it, but I'm pretty terrified of the challenge ahead of me. At the same time, I'm looking forward to the challenge because if I can conquer this then the possibilities for my life are endl... I was the one at family gatherings that when there were leftovers, I was told to eat them whether I wanted them or not. When I would come home from school upset because I had been made fun of by somebody, my mom would give me candy or some other type of food for comfort. That has the way it has been all my life. When I left home for college, I provided myself the comfort and now my husband does. But when I found out about all these medical problems I have I... My goal is to lose 80 lbs. by the end of 2014, and my main strategy right now is to focus on portion control and resisting the temptation to snack binge out of boredom or loneliness.
