SparkPeople Law Students Team Messageboard This group is for all of those people facing the unique stresses of law school. SparkPeople Law Students Team Messageboard Are any current law students still active here? Out of the two law students groups, this one seems like the most recently active group, but is still inactive. Are there any current law students still in here?

If so, please introduce yourself!

My name is Ashley and I am a current 1L at Oklahoma City University School of Law. I want to go into immigration law and a position with the ACLU in their Immigrant Rights division would be my dream job. Sun, 12 Mar 2017 16:54:18 EST Spark buddy! Hi all,

I know this group is super dead, BUT thought I'd try to revive it a bit. I'd love a weight-loss buddy, especially one who understands losing weight in law school :).

I'm a 2L at a law school in DC, am 25, and am looking to lose over 100 lbs.

Hope to hear from some of you soon! Mon, 22 Sep 2014 07:22:05 EST The Information I Needed I just got *another* hey-check-us-out e-mail from a law school, but this one I responded to, and got an *immediate* response. I can't attend for at least a year (I'm active duty Army right now), and I was told to go ahead an apply anyway, and talk about a deferrment later.

In other words, WOO HOO! Moving ahead with my plans!
That and 165 pts today (and counting) is making my day really good. Mon, 24 Mar 2014 15:56:33 EST Hello Hello, I'm a 1L! I survived fall, barely, although I put on a solid fifteen pounds, so I'd like to maintain more sanity and health this semester. Sun, 19 Jan 2014 02:54:17 EST Anybody in Oregon? Assuming this Page isn't abandoned, I'd like to know if anyone's going to one of the schools in OR this fall, I will be - just not sure which one yet! Fri, 24 May 2013 19:18:58 EST Looking for a workout buddy - Phoenix area I am new to this site - not sure what's the best way to go about this.

I started law school this past January, and find myself using every excuse not to get an exercise routine going, and keeping it. I am not a joiner, and hate going to gyms - especially alone.

I am hoping to find someone in the west valley (far west- where I live) or in the Phx area (where I go to school) who also needs help in starting and keeping a routine. I prefer the an easy going, stick to it ... Sun, 22 Jul 2012 12:15:19 EST Summer 2012 Challenge Hello fellow students!

We're all struggling with studying for finals and finalizing our summer plans. Let's get fit and be happy together!

Best,
Wander Tue, 10 Apr 2012 16:52:51 EST Anyone graduating in May? Hey all, I just wanted to drop a little line from the other side and give you a little insight from my recent experience. I graduated in December and took the February Ohio bar exam.
I went into the study period with the best of intentions and a plan. However, after 2+ months of full-time studying (i.e., sedentary lifestyle, sitting at a desk or table more than 10 hours a day), and a whole lot of stress eating, I made it to the heaviest I have ever been in my life. Granted, I had been... Mon, 9 Apr 2012 20:02:50 EST New to the Group Hi All!
I'm a 1L at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law- prior to coming to law school I had nailed my weight goal, had a consistent exercise program, participated in numerous triathlons and sponsored runs and was watching my diet. But that all changed with my first semester of law school. Now- I'm looking to get back on track and keep my health in mind even during the craziness that is law school. Mon, 2 Jan 2012 22:40:10 EST sparkamerica hiya!
you should all join this sparkamerica team! right now, lawyers and legal professionals are logging the fewest fitness minutes!

m.asp?gid=51835
Sun, 25 Sep 2011 14:47:55 EST help! this is tougher than i anticipated! i'm snacky all the time, and i wake up exhausted. and i know it's all in my head, 'cause i'm not actually working all that hard. thoughts? soothing tones, please! Mon, 5 Sep 2011 11:48:00 EST Why are you proud of yourself today? Today is the first day of classes and I'm trying to be more positive generally about school during 2L.

Last night, I was getting down on myself for procrastinating, watching the Yankees/Red Sox game instead of doing my reading and not getting into bed until 11:30. BUT I realized that part of positivity is recognizing the things I DID get done yesterday. I woke up early, ran 8.7 miles and ate within my calorie range. Last night, I slept 7 hours and this morning i went to the gym and... Wed, 31 Aug 2011 11:34:48 EST Introduce yourself! What law school? What year? Hi all! Please feel free to introduce yourself!

My name is Beth and I am a 3rd year law student at Southern Illinois University School of Law. The school was established in the late 70's to address the need for attorneys in the southern regions of Illinois, and has a great focus on public interest and health law and tuition is very inexpensive compared to other schools.

I am chief justice of my school's national moot court team, a Westlaw representative, and I have ... Mon, 15 Aug 2011 23:30:09 EST I need some advise: should I transfer? Hi fellow Law Student Sparkers!

I need some advise on making a decision. I have to make up my mind by August 12th. I have been accepted to a Law School in Los Angeles as a transfer student. They are a T2 school. I landed in the top 10% at my current school, which is a T4 in San Diego. I currently live in LA and would be commuting to San Diego. My current school is giving me a really good scholarship along with Law Review membership. I also have a great relationship with some profe... Fri, 5 Aug 2011 18:38:36 EST Looking for a SparkBuddy! (no kids yet, not for a while)

Before the wedding I lost 30 lbs. but about 90% of that was due to stress. Mon, 25 Jul 2011 15:25:16 EST No excuses but still making them This summer I am only working full-time and don't have nearly as busy a schedule as I do during the school year. My excuse during the busier times was that I simply didn't have time to work out. Now... I have more time. Plenty more time, and I am still making excuses. It is too hot after work to workout, and am too tired after a full day of work. I have managed to wake up early on several occasions to get in a morning workout, but have only successfully completed my goals on a handful of t... Thu, 16 Jun 2011 00:43:35 EST Summer Law or Fitness plans? Hey everyone! What are your plans this summer that are law school or fitness related, or both?

I got a paid job at a legal aid firm that I have been volunteering at that will extend through my last year of law school (I am currently a 2L). Tue, 12 Apr 2011 16:50:30 EST Amazing Stress Reliever, Fun, and Burns Calories Okay, I understand that this isn't the coolest thing in the world to do but juggling has truly changed my law school experience. My first year, probably like many, was torture. I did well but my body paid for my grades. I gained 15 lbs, had bronchitis and a double ear infection over the first set of finals, and was in the emergency room unable to move because my neck seized up during spring finals. Last fall, I decided that either I must change or I might not make it through another run of fi... Thu, 31 Mar 2011 10:41:14 EST Is working out ruining your GPA? Wed, 9 Feb 2011 15:27:21 EST Team Goals Hi team!

We have just two team goals, drink 8 cups of water each day and get 500 fitness minutes each month. That averages out to around 4-5 workouts a week of just 30 minutes each! I know you guys can do it!

Additionally, some people shy away from the 8 cups of water because they just don't think it is possible. There are a lot of alternatives, drinking decaffeinated tea, flavored water mix, you name it! Please join the goals and let's see how we can do! 220</... My name is Beth, and I am the law students team co-leader.

I am a second year law student from Illinois, and currently work as a Westlaw representative at my school. I also volunteered all last semester at a legal aid clinic where I worked in family law, an area I hope to practice in some day. Wed, 9 Feb 2011 08:53:37 EST Hi all! I'm Bobbi, a 2L in Florida. I wish I had thought to look for a law student SparkTeam earlier! I have had a hard time balancing school and fitting in exercise, but I feel like I'm doing but better with that this semester.

I plan to practice Family Law here in Florida after I pass the bar. I also have interests in Consumer Law and Technology Law. I look forward to learning more about all of you. Fri, 4 Feb 2011 11:50:46 EST How is your semester going? Hi team!

How is everyone's semester going so far? Have you been able to stay on track with your health goals?

This semester has been my busiest of law school, but I chose classes in a fashion to allow for gaps to fit in exercise. My school has refrigerators we can put food/drink in, so I bring my lunch about every day and that has helped tremendously in staying within my recommended calorie intake.

Please post and let the group know how your semester is... Sun, 30 Jan 2011 20:32:27 EST another hello! hiya! i'm just getting accepted to law schools in the states, and expect it'd be wise to establish a healthy lifestyle before that craziness descends on me!

Tue, 30 Nov 2010 15:21:15 EST Hey hey, 1L here! 1L and new to the group...I'm getting down to finals and stressing. And of course I thought it would be brilliant to weigh myself for the first time in months and see how it went. Well, it went poorly, so I am back on Spark People trying to figure out how I went so far down the wrong path.

I look forward to any advice you all can give on staying healthy during law school! It has definitely been messy for me so far. Thanks! Fri, 26 Nov 2010 01:15:39 EST 2010 Holiday Season The holiday season is gearing up, and it will be in full swing before we know it.

Next week is Halloween, with candy, parties, and treats everywhere. Then it's Thanksgiving, with all the turkey, gravy, pies, etc, and the days of leftovers that go along with it. Then December - cookie exchanges, office parties, other parties, Hanukkah (the only EIGHT day holiday I know of dedicated to frying stuff in oil!!!), Christmas, New Year's . . . am I missing anything? Probably!
... Fri, 22 Oct 2010 22:57:47 EST Brutally Honest Motivation My two biggest motivations to keep on working out were totally innocent comments from my mom and boyfriend.
When I was discussing my starting Mom innocently said that I was "10 pounds less" than she was. Even though I'm probably at least 5 inches taller...YIKES!!
The 2nd thing was my boyfriend complimenting me on my eating better and working out. He said he was so proud of me because I did a complete 180 from being a "junk food queen" and it shows real strength of charac... Fri, 22 Oct 2010 13:38:27 EST 2L Hi Everyone!

I am 23 and a 2L. Since I have started law school, I have put on about twenty pounds. I use to be very active during my undergrad, but now that I have been in law school most of my time is devoted to studying and when I have free time I do not feel like exercising. I am hoping to stay motivated and get these extra pounds off. I want to feel comfortable in my clothes again! Mon, 11 Oct 2010 12:46:38 EST Thanksgiving Survival! Hey I was just looking for some advice on the "better" things to be eating on Thanksgiving so I don't undo all the effort.
While I appreciate the "How to make a Tofukey" articles I'm going home for the traditional dinner and there is no way my old school family is not making all the usual fare the same way gramma did (especially since she's coming).
What should I stick to, fill up on and avoid at all costs so I can make both my mom and I happy! Sun, 3 Oct 2010 18:15:06 EST LSAT Tips? Hi everyone!

I'm scheduled to take the LSAT in about 2 weeks. I have been doing a lot of studying and I'm making tons of progress, especially with those logic games. I have to say I'm a LITTLE bummed out looking at the scale.. I've lost ONE pound...
I have gone to hot yoga 3 days straight..done Jillian Michaels' 20 minutes 2 other days and didn't work out one but DID go fishing (that's a workout right?) and seriously cut down the junkfood eating to stay within 1200ish calories.
Now..I'm not sure if this is an achievement or I'm doing something seriously wrong. Maybe more than 20min of Jillian?
Could someone let me know? Many thanks!! Mon, 20 Sep 2010 22:57:29 EST Hot Yoga I've signed up for Hot Yoga and had my first class today and thankfully the heat wasn't at max due to a technically issue but I loved it!
I'm just do I enter it into the fitness tracker?? The instructor said it burns about 700-1000 calories so here's hoping! Sat, 18 Sep 2010 12:41:37 EST Hi there (eh?) I'm in my LAST year of law school and am really hoping this assists in giving me the motivation to stick with losing weight/working out during the year.
I seem to go good for a few weeks...then when the work/stress hits I give up and make the excuse I have too much studying to do! I want to look my best come graduation in April!!! Mon, 13 Sep 2010 19:37:47 EST Hi All I am going to be starting my first year as a law student. I have been in the work force as a paralegal for 9 years. I am a wife and mother of two. This is going to be quite the journey and I am ready for it!!! Wed, 25 Aug 2010 09:46:04 EST Hello Hi there, I'm a first year law student at Pitt and just trying to constructively manage the stress with a little help from exercise. For me, that's just a few weeks away!

I thought we could challenge ourselves to make these last weeks of summer count big.

My personal goal is to lose 5 pounds by August 30, when I go back. Sun, 8 Aug 2010 11:29:11 EST Hello Team! I want to introduce myself as your new Team Leader. I'd love to see this team become more active as we support each other throughout the difficult and stressful period in our lives that is LAW SCHOOL.

Any ideas for helping this team reach its full potential would be greatly appreciated.

~Meredith Fri, 6 Aug 2010 22:08:47 EST You know you're a law student when..... I just saw a Simpsons episode. Sideshow Bob takes Bart to a place where five states meet in order to shoot and kill him. Bob's theory is that he'll stand in one state, hold the gun in the other, and Bart'll be in a third state, so nobody'll be able to arrest him.
Of course, that's B.S. But right away, my very first thought was "Oooooh, Civ Pro exam question!" Sun, 25 Jul 2010 22:53:52 EST Bar Exam Hi Guys,
Just wanted to see if anyone else here is a recent grad and now getting ready for the July bar exam. I've seen some posts about sparkbuddies and I think for us it would be great to do sparkbuddies for not only fitness and weightloss, but also for staying on track with preparing for the bar exam. Just an idea! (: Sun, 6 Jun 2010 01:17:31 EST Hi all...I'm new to this Just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Katylyn and I have just finished 1L. I am a dual degree student, so I will be completing my MBA simultaneously with my JD.

I gained 10 lbs during my first year, which I attribute to spending far too many hours sitting and reading (and snacking). I now want to drop that 10 lbs and work on toning.

I have 2 special needs children and I have been married for 9 months. I would like to make fitness a family activity, but ... Wed, 26 May 2010 12:29:15 EST Healthy Finals As that dreaded time of the year approaches, I was wondering how you all stay healthy during finals.

I think all my weight loss problems would be solved if there weren't any. My usual process is that I eat healthy, exercise, drink water, and get plenty of sleep until finals hits. Then I don't eat, or eat whatever I can grab (not necessarily even bad foods, just no preplanning), neglect the gym for my books, water is replaced with caffinated beverages, and don't get that much sle... Fri, 2 Apr 2010 16:23:44 EST HI I'm new. I went ahead and joined this group even though I'm not TECHNICALLY a 1L yet. I did get accepted, so I WILL BE once school starts, but here I am.

This group looks like it hasn't seen much activity in a while, so maybe I can help with that, too.

I have been accepted to the University of Memphis Humprhrey's School of Law--which is great, right? John Grisham graduated from UM's law school. :P

Anyway, I'm super excited both about SparkPeople and about starting... Fri, 2 Apr 2010 00:22:30 EST Hi! Hi,

I'm new. I'm a 2L looking to lose a couple pounds and hopefully keep them off as finals approach. Wed, 24 Mar 2010 14:57:54 EST For any NYC Law students... desserts: Now that Pinkberry has chocolate, I can go there instead of Crumbs! YES! I don't know the nutrition info of the chocolate yogurt but it has to be better than that of the cupcakes. Tue, 16 Mar 2010 09:42:30 EST Where are you from? Thu, 18 Feb 2010 20:15:49 EST Just starting out Hi all! I'm new to Sparkpeople and will start Baylor Law School in August. Sat, 23 Jan 2010 20:40:41 EST Hey! New Here... Not officially a law student yet but starting in the fall. I've got 2 acceptances so far and so it's just that agonizing waiting game to see where I'll be next year.

A bit about me:
23 yr old teacher in Mississippi, grew up in San Francisco, CA but originally from Liberia. Went to college in CT (at that ivy that rhymes with "hail") and started TFA last year in the MS Delta teaching algebra I. Want to be a judge some day and interested in international law/ human rights law. Mon, 18 Jan 2010 16:37:49 EST Being a reasonable person! I'm starting my second term at Cooley Law (say what you'd like, I love it there!) After the first term I've realized I need to get control of my weight now.

I got my BS in HR Management from Clarkson Univeristy in May 2009 and moved out to Lansing, MI in Aug 2009 so its been a year of transition (and a bigger waist size) Mon, 28 Dec 2009 22:43:54 EST Playing the workout catch up game after finals? So glad that finals are over! I know that every spark member had to fight the holiday bulge, but I think we are disadvantaged having to throw two weeks of tests (and at least double that in hard-core studying) on top of it. I snack insatiably during finals. I substituted chips and crackers for lots of clementines, edamame, pineapple and popcorn. Even though I rolled over a lot of the semester's weightloss progress, I'm pleased that I didn't gain it all back! Any one else have any good sug... Mon, 28 Dec 2009 22:08:39 EST Just trying to get by. Hi,
I have used Sparkpeople before, to try to lose weight. Now I am just here to be healthy. My life has taken several traumatic turns that have left me in a place I never thought I would be. I am using Sparkpeople to keep my life on track. It's one of the components that's going to save me. More than using the fitness tracker to encourage me to keep moving, and more than the nutrition tracker to encourage me to keep eating, and eating well, I will use the blog and journal features to ge... Wed, 9 Dec 2009 11:22:02 EST Balancing class work and fitness/ utrition How do you all manage to find time for school, extracurriculars, working out, and eating healthy---which seems to require extra time in prep and shopping? Also, has anyone found motivation tools on spark that help with good study habits too? Thanks all! Tue, 29 Sep 2009 00:54:41 EST Law School compared to Grad School? I'm about to take the LSAT, having realized that my "annoying" breaking down of semantics and logic in discussions (ok arguments) would actually make me a good lawyer. I'm really excited about this career path, plus I love school, reading, and even taking tests. I started studying for the LSAT "just to see" which a lot of people thought was crazy LOL.

Anyway, I've already been to grad school: I was working on my PhD in Clinical Psychology when my father fell ill (I took a leave and... Fri, 18 Sep 2009 18:58:43 EST Starting my first year! Hi Everyone!

My name is Kate and I am starting my first year of law school in 2 weeks and I'm so excited to start this journey. I've been working really hard to lose weight this whole year and I'm almost to my goal, but I know it's going to be really hard to keep up with everything once I'm in school and really easy to fall back into the old bad habits which got me here in the first place.

Does anyone have any advice on law school or on maintaining or losing while in ... Tue, 18 Aug 2009 14:16:40 EST Hi!! Hey everyone - I've been on the site a couple months, but I haven't really introduced myself around yet. I'll be a 1L in the fall and, anticipating the stress level, I'm trying to get my weight down at least another 15 pounds. Any advice for 1L and/or keeping up a healthy lifestyle? Tue, 23 Jun 2009 12:01:15 EST Summer Jobs How is everyone's going? Liking it so far? Mine is pretty good - I'm working at a Legal Services office in the Housing Unit. An unexpected "perk" is that the elevators at housing court are really slow, so I'm up and down stairs constantly on days I'm in court. Hopefully that will help with my weight loss :-) Tue, 2 Jun 2009 22:46:26 EST Law Review Hi, all,

I was wondering if any of you have been invited to participate in the write-on competition of law review (if your school offers one). If you have, how was yours set up? Do you even have a chance of getting onto Law Review by only being in the write-on competition? Thanks! Sat, 30 May 2009 16:21:36 EST Hi, all, I am new! Hi, everyone, I just joined SparkPeople. I am currently a 2L (well a 3L in the fall) who is going through the part-time program at Quinnipiac in Connecticut. I work 2-3 jobs as well. What are people's plans for the summer, any cool activities or new weight loss goals?

-Corina Mon, 18 May 2009 13:01:10 EST I did it!! I ran a half marathon today!! Woohoo!! (Sorry, I'm over joyed and am randomly writing to all my groups!) Sun, 17 May 2009 18:52:55 EST Looking for a buddy! I just entered the second part of Stage 3 on the Spark program (or whatever the right name for it is). One of the things is suggests is finding a SparkBuddy, and I really want to do this. I've always meant to look for one but I've never really known how to go about it. I think this community is an excellent place to look, because we law students face unique challenges to finding time to exercise and eat healthy.

About me:
I'm 23, and a rising 2L at Vanderbilt. Like most law students I spend a large amount of time on my laptop everyday; so I created (in powerpoint) a motivational "picture" to use as my desktop.

In addition to my weight loss goals I'm training for a half marathon in May. The top of my screen I have a weekly calendar with the bare minimum that I need to run, lift, stretch, rest and/or cross train each day. The rest of the screen I ... Tue, 17 Feb 2009 15:51:29 EST Hello from seattle Hey my names michelle. I'm still an undergrad at University of Washington. I'm currently an undeclared junior but hope to declare sometime soon (April?) as well as sign up for my LSAT by next fall. I joined the group to get a feel for how law school life would be and what changes I would have to make to my schedule and habits. I've heard that 1st year is really hard and it's full of reading. Hope to see you all on the message boards! Have a great 3 day weekend! Fri, 13 Feb 2009 19:25:57 EST Beginning Law School: To Mac or not to Mac? I'm beginning law school in August. I've heard that several law schools do not support the software of a Macintosh computer. Is this true? I've had a Mac throughout my undergrad and loved it-- I'd like to buy another. What are your thoughts? Fri, 6 Feb 2009 15:53:56 EST 1L at South Texas College of Law Hey guys i just started this out not too long ago but i love the site so far! I am in my second semester of law school and unfortunately put on 20 lbs during my first semester. so this semester i am going to get rid of that 20 lbs plus a lot more (hopefully!) and do better in school. (again hopefully!) Sat, 17 Jan 2009 22:00:28 EST Exam Time Hurdles I find exam time the most stressful, and somehow I always find time to make sure I am eating 'brain food' during those weeks. (It probably helps that I'd rather be doing ANYTHING ELSE than studying). Do any of you have particular exam-time wellness routines or suggestions? Tue, 13 Jan 2009 13:21:46 EST Make exercise fun! Get a Wii Fit board! Hello everyone -

Just wanted to share my excitement about the Wii Fit board! I have owned mine since last summer, but I never took the time to actually pull it out of the box and set it up until last night.
It's a really fun and effective way to work out, especially if you enjoy playing games. I got my sweat on for 40 minutes doing yoga, strength training, and aerobics. And I was having such a good time, I forgot that I was burning calories.
I think most law students w... Fri, 9 Jan 2009 22:19:10 EST 1L at U of Cincinnati Hello!
I joined Spark several months ago and I did great! I lost 6 pounds in the first 2-3 weeks! Then I started slacking and ended up gaining all that and more. I gained a total of 15 pounds, in just a few short months. I'm kinda tired of feeling like I am limited by my clothes. And I know that I feel so much better when I am active and eating well.
I want to make a life change but it is difficult - as everyone knows. I have lost 20lbs so far and I have about 80 more to go. I am so scared that the rigors and stress of law school would make me fall off my regimen and gain back all of my weight. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me :) Thu, 17 Jul 2008 23:05:51 EST new member (senior at ku) hello all! im new to sparkpeople as of last night. today i received my lsat score back, it was exactly what i figured i'd get based upon all of the practice tests i took, a 158. this score will allow me to get into all the schools im looking at seattle, az state, denver, unl(im from lincoln so in-state tuition is a plus!), but deep down im disappointed. i started studying in january, and although i scored 100% on the logic games section (which i consider a feat), i wish i could've gotten a... Just productivity.

However, I'm finding the LSAT to be a lot more challenging than I expected. I have a 4.0, and I've always been bright. I'm trying to eat well and undo the damage done during finals week and post-graduation festivities. I have a friend who's on the same track, and my roommate is working out for physical therapy purposes.

It's so exhausting, after a day (or even half day!) in that lecture, followed by all the homework assigned to us, to then add working out to the mix. Tue, 27 May 2008 16:30:13 EST Hi Everyone I am new to spark people and am excited that there is a group of fellow law students. I am a 2L and have managed to gain 50 pounds during my 2 years in the pit that is law school. I can't wait to get started so I can start feeling good. Wed, 30 Apr 2008 16:28:13 EST Anyone else have a hard time working out on break? Hey I just finished finals week and I now have two weeks off from school (THANK GOD). I can't seem to get motivated (other than going for a walk or two during the day) to get motivated to work out. I feel like finals absolutely drains the life out of me and I just don't have the WANT to work out during break...anyone else have this problem? Fri, 25 Apr 2008 09:48:03 EST Stress pills The guy at Whole Foods talked me into buying some special herbs to deal with stress. It's called Stress Advantage and it contains things like Schizandra, American Ginseng, Eleuthero, Rhodiola, and Curcuma xanthorrhyza. Have any of you heard of/tried this? I've only taken it two days but it seems to be helping (I imagine it's a placebo effect).

Any other tips on stress management (aside from working out, my upcoming wedding is motivation enough for that one)?

Sat, 19 Apr 2008 22:50:53 EST Outlining and Battling the Bulge Hello. So - I'm 2.5 weeks from the end of law school and I STILL have not been able to commit to a bar prep course. Why does it all seem like such an expensive scam? Do I really need the course? Isn't it enough to just have the materials?

Who has thousands of dollars to spend on this crap anyway?

So - if you've already taken the Bar - what class did you use and why? Hi everyone. I'm new to SP, and a 1L. Nice to meet you. Sun, 23 Mar 2008 17:03:22 EST New member Hi everyone. I'm a new member, looking to lose about 20 pounds. I lost around 60 in 2003-04 after graduating college, but plateaued after about six months of weight watchers It wasn't helped by switching meds a lot, but I'm back to belly dancing and working out (training for a 60 mile, 3-day charity walk!!), figuring out which meds are right for my body, and back to journaling my food (which I've always tried to do, but hasn't always helped). Hopefully the combo will get me to my goal weight ... Sun, 2 Mar 2008 00:50:56 EST Introducing myself Hello everyone! My name is Gizelle and I am 21 years old. Tue, 29 Jan 2008 08:19:05 EST I GAINED 40 LBS DURING MY FIRST SEMESTER! :(...Well, now that you all know, I am determined to lose 40 LBS in my second semester as a 1L. The problem is, I'm just starting now and we are already 3 weeks in! Oh well...I am blaming it all on stress because I am a big stress eater and my fiance has been away since July and school is death and family and.....I could write a book on all the stress in my life! Sun, 27 Jan 2008 22:57:48 EST Hello Hello All,

I have been on spark people for some time, but after starting law school last fall I stoped working out completely. I am just now getting back into the swing of things, and i am glad that I found a new team comprised of law students. It's good to see that there are other people going through similar situations. Fri, 25 Jan 2008 13:28:16 EST stress! so, i have a lot going on this semester...5 classes plus journal, a research assistantship, and a research is due in like a month and i've barely started...paper for journal due around the same time. i am FREAKING OUT!!! any ideas on how to deal with this?! Wed, 23 Jan 2008 17:04:45 EST Pizza, pizza, pizza... oh how I used to love thee. To be candid, I used to love pizza to death. Sometimes, I would go buy a whole Little Caesar's Hot-n-Ready just for myself... and actually finish it. I'd feel a little guilty after, but just a little. I don't know what the addiction was, 'cause looking back Little Caesar's pizza isn't really that good.

A popular pizza here in Southeast Michigan (and for University of Michigan folk) is Cottage Inn. It's at practically every lunch meeting. Today there was a journal meeting and t... Tue, 15 Jan 2008 19:10:28 EST Saying Hello Hi, my name is Kaycee and I am a 24 year old 3L. I graduate on May 17, and then have bar prep to look forward to. I really packed on the pounds my 1L year (I am a huge stress eater) and I have been gradually trying to get down to a healthy weight. I joined this site to keep me focused on my goals while wrapping up my last semester. I am going to need all the help I can get to try and eat healthy while studying for the bar. Mon, 14 Jan 2008 13:40:33 EST Optimistic about Spring Semester Hi everyone.

It's my first day on this site, so I thought I'd introduce myself. Haven't binged on pizza yet today....but then again, it's still early! :) Conscious "dieting" is pretty much the most difficult thing in the world for me, I need all the support I can get! Let me know if anyone wants to be buddies. I'm in my second semester of law school, and have high hopes that I can get back to the place I was at before I started 1L year. Anyhow, hope to meet you guys soon.
... Sun, 13 Jan 2008 12:49:45 EST Introducing myself Hi, I'm Danna. I'm new to SP. I'm a 2L (half way done!), and I've been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember. I came to law school with my weight and diet under control, and dropped the ball once the school year started. I've realized that my life is going to continue to be hectic so I need to figure out a way to stay healthy and fit in spite of the craziness. Please feel free to contact me, I'm looking for some friends who want to share the journey with me!
Thanks! Sun, 6 Jan 2008 21:53:49 EST Hey! Happy New Year to everyone!! I'm so glad to see there's a group for law students! I've found a great bunch of friends, and they make me happy to be in law school.
I definitely need to get to the gym more often this semester and improve my eating habits. I eat out for dinner nearly every night, and I especially chow down at brunch on the weekends. I guess it's been a big adjustment for me to go from undergrad to law school, but I hope this semester to adopt some healthy habits. ... Tue, 1 Jan 2008 02:44:15 EST FINALS Help!!?!? At my school, every event and student organization meeting includes pizza or subs. I have noticed that some of the orgs I belong to now have subs with no cheese and mayo packets rather than have the stuff smeared everywhere, which is great.

Does anyone have strategies for saying "no" when you are starving at 6:30 pm and the public interest org has pizza at their meeting?
Sat, 29 Sep 2007 14:38:45 EST New here! Hello, thrilled to see a team for law students. If I survive this week, I will have been in law school for just a month. Scary!

I used to exercise somewhat regularly (a couple times a week usually) before law school but since coming here, I simply have not been able to make any time for it. Sun, 23 Sep 2007 15:22:15 EST trying to get back on the wagon during 1L year... Hey everyone, I joined SP and was really successful but then totally dropped the ball and now I'm a 1L and probably the heaviest I've been since my freshman year in college--I'm tiny so extra weight doesn't wear well on me at all.
