I am new to panic attacks, but not to spark people. My weight loss journey has been a roller coaster ride for several years, and recently I had been doing ok, but I have been derailed with panic and anxiety. I just started on medication 5 days ago, after a few days of intense, overwhelming panic and anxiety attacks. I only had a few attacks perviously, like 3-4 in about a 2 yr period, but they started coming more frequently, and then became an almost constant state for a few days :... Tue, 25 Aug 2009 13:51:42 EST Meet Me!!! Hey everyone Im new to the board. I have GAD. Currently managing my panic attacks. Hope to keep intouch with every1! Wed, 5 Aug 2009 16:13:12 EST Today I acknowledge myself for I think that one thing I am not doing well with in my anxiety right now is empowering myself by reminding me that I AM doing things I wasn't able to before. And some days I am stronger in one area than another. anyway I know I could use encouragement reminding myself of the things I am doing to function with my dysfunction so I thought I would create this topic. and maybe it will get some of us reconnecting who can use that empowerment of friendship at this time. Sat, 1 Aug 2009 02:55:50 EST I am glad to be amongst people like me! I am new, but wanted to say that I am glad that I have found a place focused on being healthy in body and mind. It just got so bad when I moved and got a new job that I was actually passing out and becoming physically ill. So, food helped me deal with it...stuff the mouth to manage the issues. Now, I am trying to get healthy and I am glad that there are others. Fri, 31 Jul 2009 20:37:35 EST Narrowing my teams down to my REAL issues... Panic is real for me. Tue, 25 Mar 2008 15:02:03 EST Basics of panic! A panic attack is an exaggerated form of the body’s natural response to fear, stress or excitement. It’s caused by adrenaline being released to prepare the body for ‘fight or flight’. But it can happen when no danger is present.

Attacks may be frightening, but they are not harmful or dangerous.
One in three people can expect to have a panic attack at some stage. Sun, 23 Mar 2008 10:01:18 EST Quote of the Week Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is a freedom. Sun, 23 Mar 2008 01:37:38 EST My Biggest fear about this disorder is.. how it affects my daughter, I do not want my daughter to fear people, places or doing stuff, so I act so brave for her, but she knows, she says when I start getting panicky she said I turn palish and breath differently, She is my step daughter 6yrs now and her mom is in a nursing home with Huntington's disease, so this poor girl is worried about her mother and me and that is too much for her to worry about, I am so afraid my fears will pass to her, Sat, 22 Mar 2008 09:20:57 EST keep typing, keep breathing I don't know why posting on the anxiety board is giving me more anxiety than any other board. Seems like it would be easier because everyone here can relate in some what to what I deal with...but for some reason I am using a mantra right now, keep typing, keep breathing. I was completely agoraphobic last year and rarely left my house. I didn't know what my panic attacks were I didn't know how to breath properly through them and would pass out. I was so scared I would pass out at the store... Sat, 22 Mar 2008 02:53:50 EST This is a very important team! For me when I was having panic everyday I was very thin I guess I kept things moving in my body......hahaha!

If I panic now I wont eat, but if I get down about the whole panic thing I will eat and think oh why not, I am going to die anyway of this panic thing.

Weird thoughts that go thru my head!
Fri, 21 Mar 2008 12:51:54 EST Is it better or worse? Fri, 21 Mar 2008 00:06:07 EST What do you.......... Take everyday for panic? I am on klonopin every day and it does seem to help I am also taking calcium/magnesium which helps keep me calm. I did take Zoloft at one time and it made me gain weight.

What are you gys taking? Fri, 21 Mar 2008 00:04:50 EST Do you have panic when you are working out? When I am working out I tend to panic, I think part of it is that I feel my heart rate go up and then I think oh no here we go, if I have any little pain it is my heart, if I feel a little tired, it is because I am working too hard and it is going to kill me. I am telling you my brain is just weird I think sometimes, it thinks too much junk. Thu, 20 Mar 2008 11:27:09 EST Where do you have panic? Sometimes we have triggers that make our panic attacks worse, where do you have panic the most.

For me it is in my car, something about not being able to be home and in a "safe" place makes me crazy.

How bout you? Finally diagnosed this summer. I knew there was a problem. Duh. At times I need to take medications and other times I do deep breathing and other learned techniques. Fri, 28 Dec 2007 00:54:45 EST Dazed and confused - at best I generally don't ask for help ... years of "training" so that my father and other abusers couldn't see that I was breaking or slipping. But right now I need help / support / friends / etc!

The Christmas holiday is the worst for me, always has been. This year seems even worse ... battles I thought were over have been re-started, the last of my Maternal family is gone (save those that want to remind me what a 'loser' I am compared to their children).

Any suggestions for k... Thu, 15 Nov 2007 07:44:26 EST New here, hope that is ok Hello, I am having a hard time with today. I am a cult survivor and Halloween was the worst torturing time for me. I am scared. I am 50 years old and shouldn't be afraid of kids and especially adults in costumes. I feel so dumb and out of control. I work in a hospital and isn't a good place to have a panic attack. I don't want everyone to think I am crazy.

I don't have them as often as I used to. This year, this month is worse though. Only a few more hours and I will be safe.
... Wed, 31 Oct 2007 19:16:50 EST Uncontrollable itching I starting having issues with itching. It seems to happen when I have nothing else to do or when I am forced to have to sit or stand still for any length of time. I doesn't appear that I have a rash and since I can pretty much keep busy during the day it usually starts in the evenings.

I have tried oatmeal baths, baking soda in my bath, Benadryl and anti-itch cream, and just plain body lotion.

Does anyone else have this problem? And if so is this a new symptom that I hav... Tue, 30 Oct 2007 13:12:12 EST So quiet! It's so quiet in here...we need to keep up the motivation so we can all work on this together. This is the first year I'm sought treatment for my attacks outside of exercise and such. I started taking valarian root just about two weeks ago and find it helps but not greatly. I found TONNES of info on another natural treatment "Purecalm" that looks amazing. No matter what site I go to, blogs or otherwise I hear nothing but praise. Has anyone on here given it a try? Mon, 25 Jun 2007 12:58:46 EST When is the last time you had a panic attack? The last panic attack I had was a week ago. I was cooking dinner, my daughter knocked on the door and I went to answer it. After I opened the door BAM!!, it hit me. It was a bad one, one of the worst ones yet! It lasted for the rest of the day, the longest I have ever had a panic attack. Although I did not "peak" the rest of the day, I did have all the awful aftermath symptoms. Upset stomach, back pain, dizziness, dry mouth, nervousness, e.t.c. I was so thankful to wake up the next morning an... Fri, 18 May 2007 07:36:16 EST Introduction, introduce yourself Hello, my name is Carrie. I have been living with panic attacks for over 3 years now. I am the only person I know who has them. Believe me, unless you have experienced panic attacks you can't even start to imagine or understand what it's like. I wanted to start this team so myself and others can have some sort of support system. For me it is hard to talk about my panic attacks with those who have never experienced it. Most people look at me like I'm crazy or I get "oh it's just anxiety". For ... Fri, 11 May 2007 07:32:05 EST
