What do you do? It really makes me mad and I wish they had to suffer with a severe migraine so they could see what it's like. Any thoughts? Sun, 1 Jun 2008 02:27:26 EST Thank you for creating this team! I am brand new to Spark, and a friend of mine recommended it to me. I have had a constant migraine for the last 11 years, and have tried everything under the sun to kill it, to no avail. I'm here to help, to get help, and to meet people going through the same things I am. Good luck to us all! (My name is Karen, and I live in Virginia) Sun, 11 May 2008 21:51:50 EST A Team I Wish Didn't Exist But, unfortunately, many of us have to deal with the difficulties migraines bring into our lives, so I'm very glad there is a group of people who understand.

My name is MaryKate. I'm new to SparkPeople, but not to losing weight. I've lost 130, gained some back and working on getting back down to my previous weight and then reaching my original goals. Exercise can be tough, because sometime working out too hard can be a migraine trigger for me, but I'mr eady to give it my all! Fri, 9 May 2008 11:54:18 EST HI I AM ASHLAND 67 HI I AM ASHLAND67 AND HAVE MIGRAINES DAILY. COULD USE SOME SUPPORT .
ASHLAND67 Sun, 4 May 2008 20:06:10 EST Hi everyone! Hi, I just joined spark people yesterday. I'm hoping to lose about 20-30 pounds and live healthier.
I have had migraines, but was diagnosed with chronic nightly cluster headache in the fall. My neurologist and family doctor have been trying to find a treatment to end them, but not much success so far. It's hard to keep in shape when you're so tired and upset - so I gained twenty pounds since the fall.
I'm so happy to find this team and look forward to meeting you all.
Kim Sun, 13 Apr 2008 01:08:58 EST What Migraine RX do you use? I think I have had every migraine RX out there. The best one I have found for me is Zomig. I just started taking Topamax as a preventive daily. I am just curious what works for everyone else.

Migraines suck. 198 Wed, 2 Apr 2008 09:30:01 EST New here Hi, my name is Sue. I have been getting migraines for over 15 years. I look forward to getting to know all of you and sharing stories, etc.

Thank you,
Sue Wed, 26 Mar 2008 13:28:08 EST Delayed Food Allergies Does anyone here have experience, good or bad, with Sage Medical Labs and their delayed food allergy test? According to their research, 75% of migraine sufferers have these delayed, hidden allergies and, once identified through the test, can become migraine free/reduced. I don't really have tons of faith in medicine anymore but I'm willing to try just about anything.

TIA.

Mon, 3 Mar 2008 08:58:13 EST new here and losing my optimism... I'm one of those annoying people who don't get down very often and figure that all bad things will come to an end eventually so I try to have a great time wherever I go and through whatever life throws at me. These migraines are quickly putting an end to all that and are threatening to forever alter my personality. My diagnosis is complicated but boils down to intractable migraines which are chronic (daily) and completely unresponsive to all meds. I've been hospitalized for steroid treatme... Thu, 28 Feb 2008 09:52:04 EST I'm glad I found you! Hi, I'm Kim. I'm a 41 y.o. SAHM in Iowa. I'm a new sparky and I'm still trying to figure out the whole, huge site. I've got chronic daily headache (both severe migraine and lupus headache, which feels kinda similar to a meningitis headache). I've had the migraines since I was a little girl and the lupus headaches for 11 years now. My wonderful neuro recently retired and I'm seeing an internist for now. My meds and my relative inactivity (we all know how even simple movement can make a hea... Tue, 26 Feb 2008 10:41:47 EST New to Team Migraine Hi all! Fri, 22 Feb 2008 16:25:18 EST I'm new My name is Sonja and I have suffered from Migraines for over 12 years. I have tried more medications and combinations of medications then I can count. I have seen a Neurologist, but did not receive much help. Right now I am on Relpax which has worked well for a few months, but know it is making me feel really ill. It's an awful felling that is really hard to explain. I also suffer from chronic facial pain from my Bells Palsy which I suffered about 3 years ago. So for now I think I am ba... Tue, 12 Feb 2008 16:20:06 EST Relief for Some Hi everyone, I posted yesterday about my fight to shake these headaches/migraines...I've now been 5 days headaches free (minus the little morning wake-up ones that I've been getting which seem to go away when I hit the fresh outdoors).

Here's what I've been doing:
I've been taking a "herbal" medication called Headache take care (by New Chapter...I found it in the local organic food store)...1 pill a day for almost 2 weeks now
I visited a reflexologist who suggested t... Thu, 31 Jan 2008 12:07:29 EST Soda-Bad. Water-Good. Nausea-Bad. Soda-Good. Okay. So, here's the deal. I have some sort of head pain and nausea just about 24/7. I take anti nausea medication used for patients going through Chemo and a different kind called Visterol. They both help. However, when they aren't working,I go straight for the Sprite, Ginger Ale or Squirt. I know all about Ginger/Lemon tea and candied ginger. But, ginger shminger, I'd like a Sprite please! I can't get water down and I fear all of the sugar in the soda will defeat me and my Sparky plan! An... Tue, 29 Jan 2008 05:05:46 EST I'm NOT the only one!!!! Hi! I'm new to Spark People but definitely not new to migraines! I started getting them at 19 yrs. old (42 now). At first it was just 1 or 2 a year but they have gotten progressively worse. Now I am on preventative medicine but still end up with a nubaine/phenergan shot every 7-10 days. Weather is my main trigger (fronts and pressure changes) so spring is no longer my favorite time of year. Of course, I live in Missouri, where the weather changes frequently! I need to move somewhere there is ... Sun, 27 Jan 2008 16:02:11 EST Exercise? Do any of you have trouble exercising? Are your migraines triggered by in increase in your pulse rate? I either wake up with a terrible headache at the base of my skull, or I get one from exercising, laughing too hard or coughing. Mine aren't typical "migraines" - they're tension headaches in the back of my neck, but it feels like I've been whacked in the back of the head by a baseball bat. They started after a car accident - whiplash. I'm starting Ultram tonight - anyone have any luck w... Fri, 25 Jan 2008 18:17:10 EST Hey from New Hampshire! I'm Calley, and I'm from the Lakes Region in New Hampshire. I have chronic headaches in the base of my skull every morning and when my heart rate is elevated. That makes exercising difficult lol! I've had the headaches for about 10 years and have been on everything from your entry level narcotics through the Fentanyl patch (lousy - my doctor accidentally od'd me on 100mg instead of 25mg, and I'm allergic to it). Also, in May, I developed Epilepsy, and am taking 1250mg Depakote daily (it d... Fri, 25 Jan 2008 17:18:11 EST DOCTORS!! I'm still having trouble with them.
Had to make an emergency appointment with the clinic due to incipient/or impending bronchitis. The NURSE noted that I'm allergic to 'cillins and 'mycins that is, anything that ends with those.
So in comes the doc. A petite German with a 'better than a man' attitude who first scolds me for not coming in sooner (like I could get an appointment sooner? This is Merced, which is like China. What health care?) then prescribes Zithromycin, after I speci... Tue, 22 Jan 2008 17:49:43 EST Hello HI everyone! I am not new to SP or to Migraines. I am so glad to have found this team, since nobody can relate to what I am going thru unless you have migraines yourself.

So, I keep starting over on SP. Yesterday was a great day with exercise. Now this morning, BOOM! Wake up with a flipping migraine!!!!! I am hoping it goes away so I can get some exercising in.

Hope all of you are feeling well! Mon, 21 Jan 2008 10:40:20 EST Introducing a Professional Migraine Sufferer Hi, my name is Kathy and I'm 47 years old and if there is such a thing as a professional migraine sufferer, then I'm almost sure I qualify!! I've been hospitalized more times then I can count because of my migraines, the longest being a 9 day stay. I finally found an excellent neurologist with is the key to managing my migraines. I am happy just to function, they haven't gone away, but I'll take what I can get. I have 55 lbs. to lose and I'm so happy to have found this site. I've tried l... Sun, 20 Jan 2008 10:07:11 EST Another New One Hi everyone,

I'm new to message boards, but after seeing this team thought I'd try it out. I've read some of the posts, and it's so good to find other people suffering from chronic migraines! I started getting migraines in college, and they became daily last year - I'm 34 now. I went through all kinds of medical tests, and they finally told me I have basilar migraines. I've tried a variety of things, mostly holistic stuff, but, though they're better - currently, I can almost wor... Fri, 18 Jan 2008 10:16:32 EST Bananamoon sayin' Hey Hi, everyone!
I am so excited that there is a migraine team-not that having migraines is great or that any one of us would have chosen this path, but since we've got them, at least we can support each other! My diagnosis is: Intractable Chronic Daily Migraine.
I've gained tons of weight from meds and laying around. Am hoping to move from 182 to 135!!! 249 Fri, 11 Jan 2008 15:47:51 EST Any help for weather related migraines?? I live in Chicago and I get really bad migraines when the weather changes (hot to cold, muggy, rain, etc). I have one now because it's raining out here and I wanted to know if anyone else experiences these and if they have any advice on what I can take. They get really bad around the summer and not so bad in the winter, but we are having a rainy winter here. Fri, 11 Jan 2008 09:02:02 EST Another newbie! I am 45 and have had migraines since I was about 25 years old. They became daily about 8 years ago. Right now they are "under control" at about 3/4 per month. I began an exercise program and have lost 25lb, have 60 more to go! 213 Thu, 10 Jan 2008 13:56:45 EST Is this team active at all? Hi there,
I am new to this site and was just checking to see if this team is still active at all.
Bekah 224 Thu, 10 Jan 2008 10:59:50 EST Hello :-) Hello, I am new to the board! I have been on spark for a bit, but not really explored everything.

I have had migraines for about 15 years (I'm now 26) and have found that working out definitely helps keep them under control.

Here's wishing everyone good luck! Mon, 7 Jan 2008 21:54:41 EST Newbie here My name is Bekah. I am 26 and I am here to lose about 50 pounds. I live in Michigan with my husband, brother, and 3 kids
It is so cold and my motivation went south with the warm air.
I am not very good at tracking my food, it takes time which I don't have a lot of.
I have a gym membership but I haven't been in a while. I need help motivating myself to do the things I need to do!
I really hope that SP will help me.
Good luck to everyone and myself as well!! Sun, 6 Jan 2008 14:11:23 EST New to the team! Hi Everyone! I have been on sparkpeople for about 4 months now but I just found this team. When I was in college(graduated last december) I started getting migraines and they could be anywhere from once a month to 3 times in one week. My biggest trigger is stress, and since graduating they have calmed down quite a bit. I take immetrix if I have a really bad migraine, but usually if I catch it at the beginning I can take excedrine migraine and that helps keep it under control. Now I get them ... Fri, 7 Dec 2007 19:08:12 EST HI Hi. I'm new to the group. I have had migraines since I was 7yrs old. I am unable to take the preventive meds since I am allergic to them. I just live day to day. I'm trying to lose weight so I will feel better and can do all the things I did in the past when I was thin. Tue, 27 Nov 2007 10:42:27 EST My poor head. What are you triggers? I've had a ton of migraines latly. I just starting taking a Rx for them though. So thats good. I swear I wake up and my head is sore its been hurting so long. Today we have big storms here in Dallas and that always triggers one. Mon, 22 Oct 2007 13:32:13 EST Topamax: and other migraine preventives After having tried all the 'natural' and 'herbal' remedies/preventives, I went to see the local neurologist.
Turns out he has a background in CHINESE medicine!!

So, we talked, he gave me a looking at, said 'I see signs of thyroid trouble, so lets look into that, but meanwhile, *continue the caffeine* and take this stuff." then hands me a Rx for Topamax.
Interesting stuff.
For someone who is *always* cold, always has been, except in 101 weather, I'm now nice and toast... Sun, 23 Sep 2007 18:50:52 EST Howdy Y'all! Maybe I never introduced myself here, but I am coming back to SparkPeople after a hiatus. I suffer daily migraines and after working with a neurologist for 4 years and only feeling worse, I finally quit my job last year and now I just stay home and take care of my husband. Acupuncture did work for my headaches, but the drive was 100 miles each way 3x a week, and I just couldn't keep it up. Thu, 30 Aug 2007 08:57:59 EST H'lo all I was surprised that there is only one entry for migraine, considering the numbers of people who suffer.

My personal journey has been a course of fighting for the professionals to believe me enough to send me on to a specialist.
Been on the edge my entire life. I can't remember when they began.

There was no actual pain at first, just the other symptoms. In retrospect, talking to neurologists, we decided between us that I had been having what is known as 'childhood... Tue, 21 Aug 2007 02:21:06 EST So glad to find this team! It's a relief to find this team! I began having daily headaches over 3 years ago. Working with my neurologist, we've gotten them down to 2 weeks out of the month, and so I've been able to shed 25 of the pounds I put on when I couldn't move at all due to the pain. Now, I hope to hear how others manage to keep up the weight loss with migraines to help keep me motivated to lose even more! Mon, 20 Aug 2007 22:05:36 EST New to Team Migraine I just started getting migraines 2 years ago. I have cluster migraines that last from days to up to 5 months and impede my speech, vision, eye-hand coordination, slow down my memory and make me a bit grumpy. Like others I have read, the meds and IVs I get for treatment have caused weight gain that I am now healthy enough to address. I have been treated by some WONDERFUL doctors and clinicians at the Tampa General Hospital Pain Management Clinic who told me to use this website to make sure I w... Mon, 13 Aug 2007 22:36:15 EST Anyone with TMJ? I just created a new SparkTeam for people who suffer from TMJ. Do any of you get your migraines because of TMJ issues, grinding or clenching your teeth? Come and join this team so we can help each other deal with the pain of TMJ. Fri, 3 Aug 2007 09:55:33 EST Overweight from Migraines Hello, fellow migraine sufferers! I'm Sherie, 39 and mom to four. I've been overweight, on and off, since the birth of my first child 18 years ago. But after starting preventive migraine medication (Innopran) a few months ago, my weight keeps climbing. Anyone else have this problem? Thu, 26 Jul 2007 02:48:47 EST New to team, not to migraines! Hello everyone. I was happy to find this group. I began fighting migraines as a toddler. Doctors could never figure it out since I was so young. They use to run on a schedule. Now, at 31 yoa, they have gotten much worse. Two of my three kids also have them, on schedule still. I'm now working with a neurologist and we're in the middle of trying medications. I'm praying for relief.
On top of the migraines I have chronic neck and back pain. My activity level has gone from extreme ... Thu, 26 Jul 2007 00:20:43 EST "binge" eating with headache Hey, When I have a headache it seems that I can't stop eating, like my body needs potatoes and all the comfort food to heal itself. I feel like I'm just looking for the "right" food. Does anyone else have this happen? Sun, 15 Jul 2007 06:59:00 EST New and suffer form migraines Hi everyone. I am new to SP and I too suffer from migraines. I had to get out of the military due to not being able to control them. I would end up in the ER because of these. Fri, 13 Jul 2007 12:49:56 EST Hi Everyone 2nd day and migraine Well I made it my second day. I am very proud of myself. I even had a BAD migraine last night and this morning but I didn't turn to carbohydrates to cure it (which it never does), I took my medicine ( a lot of it). I am sure I got it due to the drastic diet changes all at once (ecspecially all the water). But I plan on going full speed ahead and treating any further migraines as they come. Right now I am just so gratefuul that the migraine is gone but I do feel as though my body was run over ... Thu, 12 Jul 2007 10:09:56 EST **Challenge** Hello all. I mentioned it in another post, but thought I would start a new topic for it. Based on personal experience, I have found that it is helpful to look at most situations with optimism, which is why I like to think about the good things that happen instead of the bad during the day. In order to encourage positive thinking, I thought it would be nice to share some of our "good times" with each other in this group. It doesn't matter how big or small, everything is welcome. You can p... Fri, 25 May 2007 02:24:43 EST Welcome!!! 199 Hello all. My name is Rose and I am an Occupational Therapy Student in a Master's Program in Oregon. I have been diagnosed with migraines since I was 9 or 10 (I am 23 now) and have tried many treatments in over the past decade. I am very interested in the experience of having migraines and would like to learn more about how people cope, especially those with children and families. Please feel free to share how migraine effects your life and how you deal with them. I look forward to getti... Thu, 3 May 2007 15:17:48 EST
