I had a compression fracture on my L2 as a result of a car accident 2 1/2 years ago. I had T11-L3 fused and have 2 rods and 5 screws supporting the area. I just met with my neurosurgeon and he is very happy with my current abilities and has cleared me for most activities again. I have a herniated disc in my lumbar spine that pressed on the sciatic nerve. I had a cortisone injection about a month ago that improved my life immensely, and I'm on gabapentin, which helps a lot with the pain. But I joined SP because a doctor said to me, "Your choices are surgery, another injection, or just wait and see." And I believe I have a lot more options that that, weight loss and exercise among them.... After babying it a few days I was back to normal. Then while doing dead lifts this past Friday it happened again. It feels more like a pinched nerve than a pulled muscle , but my experience in this is pretty limited so I'm not entirely sure.
As for now I am mostly resting it and trying not to aggravate it.

LV Tue, 5 Nov 2013 05:38:39 EST A new lump in the group! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x10300x55419333 Hi, I have belonged to SP since 2006. I was then attheinlet. I just erased a lot of what I wrote, decided TMI. So summary to now. I had congenital premature DDD since 13, had six surgeries by 26. I live with my folks and always have. Darvocet N 100 kept me alive and allowed me to do most things but a little at a time. In March 2006, I joined SP to become as healthy as possible. I accomplished my goals. I lost 30lbs. I walked 50 min daily and worked out 45-1:30 minutes every day. I had distinc... I have used it since 2003 when I hurt my back and got a tear in my L-5 disc. It takes the edge off the pain, is topical, and natural. It does not smell like Bengay, Tiger Balm, or Flexall, etc, either & its better than Blue Goo, Biofreeze, and everything else I have tried over the years.

I get mine from the local medical supply store, but in CA and AZ when I lived there, I... Just had an MRI today. I missed the last step going downstairs and while I did not fall, I sure twisted my back something awful. I have had chronic low back pain for years and have been able to "manage" the pain to some degree - periodic episodes of killer pain. This time around it is by far the worst.
